Tonight's dinner was superb. Our party of 5 didn't partake in the traditional Thanksgiving dinner offered, but chose to order from the menu instead. We were all throughly pleased with our choices. On vacation and we walked down the historic "Main Street" and saw the hotel. I ordered the St. Louis Rib dinner and my wife ordered the Chicken Marsala. The ribs were delicious and had a really good smokey flavor to them. The Chicken was also delicious! The staff was over friendly and very helpful, especially knowing the next day the restaurant was laying them off due to the "Covid Lock Down" I highly recommend this restaurant and really can't understand the 3 a half star review! read more

Came here last night with my husband and we had such a great experience! Showed up a little early for our reservation and there was no issue with being seated immediately. We sat upstairs on the balcony and it was a cold and rainy night but the heaters definitely warmed us up. Our waiter was Scott and he was amazing! Super friendly, gave great suggestions, and checked on us the perfect amount of times. I had the traditional Sutter Burger and my hubby had the Prime Rib Special. Both were cooked exactly how we asked and tasted amazing. Not to mention the to die for pretzel appetizer! So yummy!! Such a fun night, we'll be back soon!! Thanks Scott!! read more

My husband and I went to dinner here for New Year's Eve. It was full but it didn't not feel cramped. The tables are spaced apart well. The service was amazing. We never had to wait for anyone to take our drink order or our food order. Both of our cocktails were perfect. The wine list is filled with local wines and we chose a bottle that we have had before. We both had a tough time choosing our entree as the menu all sounded great. We both finally decided in the bacon wrapped filet Mignon. Medium rare. Unfortunately it came out more medium but it was still very good. When our waitress saw that it was not cooked properly she immediately comped us half the price each, despite us protesting that it was not necessary and we were enjoying our meal. We continued with dessert and it was amazing as well. It's pretty rare to have all things go so perfectly nowadays and we will definitely be back. Went tonight, made a reservation for 2 at 5pm the day before. We walk in and the hostess can't find our reservation, but pretends like she does and seats us immediately. The restaurant only has a few tables taken at this time. There were 4 flies we could count buzzing our table. We were brought water and bread, but no bread plates. We are sat next to a four-top, who are having fun, extremely loud to the point we can't hear each other talk. It's ok, I will just ask to be moved, no sense in ruining their or our night. We are told they are full on reservations and can't move us. I tell them we are out for our anniversary and can't hear each other but fine. Don't tell them we have any issue. They pull one of the ladies away and tell her. She comes back to her table and starts whispering to her table and I can't help myself but interrupt to let her know I didn't want anything to be said, no sense in ruining their night, we just asked to be moved, and we were sorry for the disruption. They were very nice about it. But it's awkward. We both order the filet mignon. He orders his well and I order mine med. rare and ask to sub mashed potatoes for the roasted potatoes. We get our meals and they look delicious, nice plating, but my meal is only warm, and I got two types of potatoes instead of mashed with the veg. Cut into the steak and it's not cooked. Like blue, not even rare. I decide to not complain anymore and I will just eat the mashed potatoes and bring mine home to cook later. The brussel sprouts were uncooked. They were explained as sauteed with butter and bacon, and it was raw brussel sprouts topped with bacon pieces. The whole time we are there eating, not one other diner comes in, the multitude of tables we were told we couldn't sit at because they had so many reservations sat empty. The server was very apologetic and asked how he could make it right. The one star was for him. I got 3.30 off my 85.00 meal for it being too rare... Our anniversary dinner went down in flames. We were in and out in 45 minutes, it was a waste of a babysitter and my perfectly winged eyeliner. Will not go back. Ever. I am so disappointed our special night, a $100.00 night, after tip, was bad. I'm seriously depressed about this. Steer clear of it's an important night you don't want ruined. read more

Started out good. We were seated at a table by the front windows with a great view outside. Soon realized there were only two servers on duty. Service was very slow but did pickup as the place emptied. Refills on drinks were a bit of an issue. Ordered a burger and discovered that the chef and I have a difference of opinion on what medium is. While my fries were crispy, not everyone at the table could say that. Even though my burger was very well and a bit charred on the edge, it was juicy and very tasty. Had it not tasted good I would have had no issue sending it back but in spite of the overcooking, it was good. Blue Moon was cold and served with an orange but I understand the margarita was nothing to brag about. Our server was friendly and did try to take care of us but she just seemed to be spread a bit thin. About $55 for two burgers and two drinks (incl tip.) guess about right for a little tourist area. read more

We've been here before the pandemic and it was excellent then. We went to Sutter Creek today for the vendor street fair and the town was packed. We stepped inside to see how the long the wait would be. The hostess told us it would be about an hour. We left our phone number and wandered around town. We came back just short of an hour and our prospects were still not looking too good. We eventually got seated upstairs on the balcony which was perfect! We had a bird's eye view if Main Street and all the goings on. My wife ordered the brisket sandwich and I ordered the Sutter burger. Both were very delicious and prepared nicely. The service was attentive and friendly. I'm glad we ended up waiting. Thanks to the hostess for seating us in a great spot and the waitress for the wonderful service! read more

Sad to say it's become a bit unreliable, and has dropped several of our favorite dishes. Our latest experience with them, for Christmas Eve, may be the last straw. Two weeks ago they announced they were having a Christmas buffet and we wanted to take some visiting family there but, no reservations. Last night they said they had canceled the buffet as not enough people were coming and when I asked how they knew this with no reservations she had no response. We're done with them for now though the food is usually pretty good.....too inconsistent and a bit dishonest. read more

Delicious food, cool vibe, great team, and a restaurant you have to visit if you're in town. Sutter Creek is growing with more restaurants, and Hotel Sutter is always looking to upgrade their hotel, menu, and brand. They've added a downstairs Copper lounge; you can eat inside or outside with a view downtown. Covid has made it difficult for all businesses, but they are a constant everyone knows and loves. You drive down Main Street and you see Hotel Sutter owns the block and creates an atmosphere of vibrant life. They listen to issues and take care of you. My favorite is the Buffalo chicken, but I enjoy their salads, giant pretzel, and more.,. My family has gluten allergies, so they have good food. We are always there. We love it. read more

Food was 3+ stars. Service was inattentive from a polite, young server on a late Sunday evening. Possibly doing side work could've been the reason while he needed to check on us. We were overcharged on our meal compared to menu prices and the server had to adjust our check. No doubt, some attention is needed by the manager to correlate prices between the menu and the POS. Note to manager... There's nothing like watching staff put their hands and fingers inside dirty glassware and dirty tableware, and then reset the tables with the same dirty and compromised hands. It's unsanitary and a bad practice with many restaurants. This is one of the ways germs and viruses are transferred in a restaurant. Also, using trays to clear tables, saves time walking back-and-forth to the kitchen. read more

Honestly I am really heartbroken over this. My husband and I drove over from Reno for his 50th birthday. We made reservations for Sutter Hotel for dinner. Everything was fine until our food was delivered. My burger which was supposed to be with a gluten free bun was served cold and with ugly brown wilted lettuce And no bun. No sauce. Literally just burger, cheese, wilted lettuce and onions. It was embarrassing let alone disgusting. We drove 3.5 hours for this??? Happy 50th birthday babe. Staying at a local Bed and Breakfast in Sutter Creek for our 15th wedding anniversary, so I thought I'd check around for a nice place to dine for the evening. Found this place, read some reviews so thought we'd give it a shot. I am so happy we did. We made reservations for 5:45. We got there at 5:40 and were swiftly seated early. Our server Carl was out of this world great. The kind of server you wish you had every time. Funny, personable, very clear on menu choices. He was attentive but not too attentive and he kept our drinks full the whole time (that is huge in my book). The food was freaking awesome. I had the homemade fettuccini with prawns and it was amazing! My wife had a burger and it was also very tasty. Thanks for saving our meal Hotel Sutter! Met some girlfriends at Cavana's yesterday afternoon and were treated SO RUDELY by 2 different employees that we got up and left! We decided to head across the street and try out the Hotel and I'm so happy we did! The employees were beyond polite, friendly, and attentive! Our drinks were on point and the food was delicious. We ordered 3 appetizers and shared them. The charcuterie board, the nachos, and the brussel sprouts! All 3 were delish, but those brussel sprouts were AMAZING! read more

Stopped here for a local craft brew and snack. I really like the way it has been renovated, bar is a bit small but there were also 5-6 pub tables. We happened to have been there on the first day the attached restaurant closed between lunch and dinner service; the bartender was tasked with taking food orders, and delivering them to the tables, and the bar. She did very well in my opinion, and was cheerfully taking some patrons criticism for not being fast enough! We ordered the massively large hot pretzel, it was so good. A little chewy on the outside and very tender on the inside. It also came with hot beer cheese and spicy mustard, both were very good; washed it all down with the local Amador Brewery red ale! All in all, was a great experience. For you locals, give this place a try, and be patient while they perfect their new process. read more

Popped in here to feed my addiction that is NFL football and it didn't disappoint. This whole hotel has got a great vibe overall, as does the bar downstairs that we spent some time in the night before. Light pours in from Main Street and there's some exposed rock that has the classic feel inside. I tried some local brews that were good. I didn't eat anything here but I could've -- the menu looked much better than typical bar food. Sneaky good options. Fun spot to catch the end of a game, and even better when the Chiefs pulled in that W against the Steelers. read more

Came to Sutter Creek as recommended by a winery we visited, and what a quaint lil town! There are only 2 solid places to eat at on this street we visited, the Cavanas Pub & Grub, and across the street: Hotel Sutter Restaurant. I like the dining experience style of the restaurant: you order up at the front, give them your table number + pay, then sit down and they come drop off your food. You eat, you leave, they bus your plates for you. Pretty chill. Not sure if this was always what it was like, but during COVID, this was my experience. I think the Yelp star rating listed for this restaurant is pretty on point. The food isn't "WOW" factor at all, but I will say that the sides made me round up to 4 stars. Also, this town is pretty small, and I can already tell this restaurant is among one of the best in this area--so I think it deserves the higher rating in comparison to the other subpar restaurants. Anyways, I ordered the NY Steak (that comes with two sides) and my husband ordered the burger. Now, I felt my steak was just okay--I asked for my steak medium, and it came out more medium well, but it was still edible. What's up with the sauce on top though? Lol... Every time there's a sauce on top of a steak, it makes me feel like the steak NEEDS the flavor or something because it's dry or just lacking the correct seasoning *shrugs shoulder* What stole the show really were THE SIDES. The garlic tater tots were legit some of the best I've had, and the Mac n cheese was obviously made in house. Was lightweight expecting a Kraft Mac n cheese style, but nah fam, it was UGHHHHH! Perfect. Best sides on the menu for sure. The burger was just a burger btw. If you're craving a basic burger, get it lol read more
