Stopped here for lunch and totally loved it. The place is comfortable, fun and has lots of character. My dining companion and I sat in a booth near a window. The red vinyl seats are quite striking. Service was very friendly and efficient. We got everything from menus to check promptly. I had the pastrami sandwich and it was huge and very tasty, although messy to eat. That was part of the enjoyment of it. The pastrami was more bologna style cut as opposed to chucks or strips. The meat stuck out from the bun and dressed very well. I also had a side of sweet potato fries and they were quite filling and delicious. There was no way I could finish them as they were plentiful. Other orders passing by looked very hearty. Ordered an omelette with a milkshake here through the phone and picked it up in under 15 minutes. The food was good and so was the service. Now on to the two star review. I went in to pay for my food and to my surprise the bill was almost $30 dollars. So I checked the receipt and they charged me almost $5 for a "Service Fee". Whatever that is. I will not be ordering food from here again. The person taking the phone order should let the customer know about this service fee beforehand. read more

They were quick and there was plenty of cheese in and on the omelette, and melted. The potatoes were seasoned well and sliced like thick potato chips. I had a side of bacon. Vintage car-themed greasy spoon that does it's thing quite well. Their omelet style is super-thin eggs with lots of fillings, which is A-OK by me. Plus, they do local flavors like carne asada! Food was enjoyable -- I wouldn't make a special trip for it, but if I were on that side of town, I'd happily try more of the menu. Service is really bad the past couple of times we went. I literally had to get up and ask if we had a server, and the boy said he didn't know. People who came in behind us got their order taken before us. Had a late dinner with mom and sister. Didn't realize that it was almost closing time, but they welcomed us and sat us right down. My mom and sis shared the Tilapia and I had a Caesar salad. The 50's theme hot rod decor is cool. The menu will please all appetites. I had a taste of the Tilapia....let me tell you, that dish was DELICIOUS!! Why am I not a fan of this place? I've been to all locations and I've never been impressed. I love going out to breakfast, so since my friend is from Modesto and I'm from Turlock, we met in the middle. The food was okay, I had bacon and eggs, nothing special. Okay...I'm about to get a little extra. I was facing the restaurants water faucet "washing hands area" but the entire time I was there I didn't see 1 server wash her hands (crying face). Trust me I know about serving, I know severs are busy...BUT I would always try to wash my hands twice every 30 minutes (more if I could, and most of the times I did). Was having a great time celebrating our daughters birthday when the owner came over and rudely asked if we could hurry and leave. We hadn't even got our bill yet. We were a party of 12 and he wanted the table. No introduction, no please, we had no idea who he even was. All of our jaws dropped and wondered what just happened. I have only been here for coffee and decided to give it a try for dinner. I had the chicken melt with grilled chicken and bacon with Swiss cheese and tomato. It also came with fries. I got mine crispy and they were perfect. The sandwich was seasoned well but still an average sandwich. The reason I will never return is what I witnessed by the waitress coming on duty. She came in and walked behind the counter and tossled her hair. Then sprayed body spray 3 times in the food prep area. I took my grandson on Nov 1 We order our drinks and food . My grandson got his breakfast for dinner and I got my salad with his meal. Then she came back with my Chicken Philly .? She walked away didn't check back how everything was for a while. I asked for no bell peppers sure enough it was loaded up with the peppers. I can't have bell peppers. She finally came around to see how everything is and my grandson was just taking his last few bites. I let her know my order is very wrong. I told I asked for no peppers and it's loaded with them. She said she let know when she turned in the order and get me a new order. Well the time it took for them to redo my order he was ready to go . These three guys came in the restaurant and talking loud and using the F word likes there only few words they knew. It was just a flat out not good price are high food ok . As we entered we were told to sit where we wanted and since this was our first time we didn't actually know where the cafe part , as there is a bar and a cafe. We were told which area was clean to sit at and which area to avoid as it needed cleaning still. The staff was welcoming. Our waitress smiled nicely and greeted us, and took our order. The BLT sandwich came with cold bacon, seem to be right out of the fridge, and very underdone french fries. The second item was the barbecue bacon cheeseburger with the onion ring on top. No sauce lettuce or tomato was requested. When served there was no cheese nor bacon on the burger, it was sent back and she's was placed on. The plate seemed to be reheated as the cheese was almost melted and the fries were hot however the burger was now cool. We spoke to the waitress about this and she was very apologetic and also replaced the first orders fries even sending it back to make sure that it was well done or at least done. We spoke to the manager who asked if we asked the waitress to fix everything as we were eating and we said yes however bacon was never put on the second meal and we expressed our disappointment at the food. He asked if we wanted the food we made and we said no thank you, he picked up our plates and walked away. I don't think I will be returning. read more

Found this spot on my way to dennys which is next door but decided to check out Hot rods. Im so glad I did. This place is great, Great food Very affordable and huge portions. I ordered the biscuts and gravy, It came with bacon and 2 eggs cooked any way you like. The servers are very nice as well. I ate my whole breakfast which was huge I will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone in the area. They gained a new customer. And a plus is that they open at 5:30am which is awesome.
