Attn travelers, a moes and chipotle are only 8 minutes away in nearby enfield CT. This is my second trip to Hot Heads. The first was tragic; The establishment had recently opened and I did not want to post a review while they were still getting their feet wet. I arrived around 8:30 and was happy to see I was the only one in line. Still, it was nearly ten minutes for service due to the staff knowing the family in front of me and the witty banter exchanged between them. I ordered a chicken burrito. Fairly standard options, not the selection you would get at Chipotle or moes (or even subway).Guac is extra and applied like a petite scoop of ice cream. Don't expect a massive burrito like you would at the previously mentioned establishments. The staff is not generous, i think they may have counted pieces of chicken and beans. When I got this gas stationesque burrito home, it was time to dive in. One pet peeve I have for any wrapped food is too much wrap. There was so much extra tortilla it could have been wrapped around twice. Upon first bite, "dogfood" came to mind; the chicken was cold and tasted as if it came from a can. While i believe they cook it there, I would be surprised if they cooked it from raw. The black beans, also cold and tasted like I was eating them out of a can. The guac was fine, tasted like a premade you would get at a grocery store. The most dissapointing were the chips. Expect a snack sized portion, which is fine, because they taste like the bottom of an open bag of unsalted grainy chips that had been sitting for a week. Stale and bland. The salsa...as good as would come from a tostito's jar. This was nearly $11 out the door. Similar to Chipotle and more expensive than Moe's. If you are too stoned to drive and jonesing for mexican you can walk to, this place can do in a pinch. But it's worth risking salmonella at chipotle over this disappointment. read more

I was just at Hot Head to pick up lunch for the day with my son; and the manager was very rude. I don't understand why the manager couldn't charge me the difference in price for my son's juice. She was very unprofessional and her attitude needs improvement. I try to support local business but after today's terrible customer service I will not be going back. Great build your own counter service burritos and bowls. Tried this place by recommendation and left impressed. The team member that helped us was incredible. Top notch customer service and offered to add things to our burritos but also informed us when up-charges applied and this was very much appreciated. Wow! Stopped here as a quick snack after the flight and ended up loving it! Not your average fast food in my opinion. It was fresh, so clean and so tasty! Don't expect authentic west coast taqueria but I felt the west coast influence of fresh and healthy fast food. I found the employees to be friendly but not at all unprofessional or pushy. So delicious!!! I don't eat meat so I ordered two vegetarian style tacos but my dad ordered 4 different meats and thought they were all delicious. We went in on the morning of November 13, and the man working that day was such a delight. You could tell he really took pride in his job and wanted the customers to have a great experience. It was our first time there and he gave us the full run down on everything which was super helpful. It's rare that you find people so willing to help and that care about their jobs so Hot Heads is super lucky to have him as an employee. After a 3 hour flight, those two tacos definitely hit the spot. Loved the salsa and hot sauce he recommended as well. My wife and I love Mexican food. And I'm not talking about authentic Mexican food, we love American Mexican food. We brought the kids here hoping it could be a closer go to spot as we live in Granby and there isn't much to chose from. There were only a few people in front of us and we spent almost 20 min in line, with two kids it's a little crazy. The dining area is cramped and not comfortable for families with young kids. The employees didn't really know how to make a burrito. A little more training could turn this place around. The ingredients were ok, nothing spectacular and the sauces weren't great. All that being said, these guys probably have the best quesadilla I've had at a place like this. My kids got one and loved it. I enjoyed it a lot more than my tacos and my wife's burrito. Since being moved to Windsor Locks for work I had the task of finding my "lunch spot." Consider the search finished after I stumbled on Hot Heads. I've been to Chipotlé, Moe's and others but this has quickly become my favorite. Being the sauce/condiment guy that I am I was in heaven with their selection to make each order unique in their own way. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant seems to always be clean. I would suggest giving them a try and also getting Hot Heads card to accumulate points for free food items! read more

First - and last - visit to this restaurant. Super disappointing experience overall. Ordered online and arrived at the appointed time to find our order not quite ready yet, in spite of the fact that the place was dead. Had to ask for our chips and then the girl argued that I hadn't ordered any until I showed her on the receipt. Had I known that the "Large Chips" I ordered for $2.50 was actually about 1 ounce of store-bought tortilla chips I wouldn't have bothered. I went here for the first time with my boyfriend because it's one of his new favorite spots. I'm usually a chipotle girl but this place might just change me! I love that they have so many sauce and topping options! Everything tastes fresh and it's so delicious. I got a bowl but they also have burritos and such. I really like that you can do baby bowls and baby burritos because I really don't eat that much and I will never finish large portions so these baby sizes are perfect for me so I don't waste a thing. So we as a family of 6 just had a horrible dinning experience at another place nearby. It sucked and we all agreed we should have gone to hot head's instead! Every time we have gone David is there to greet us. He knows the kids orders and starts them when we come in. He knows the other standard orders as well. I change my order every time and he always waits for me to read the menu like I haven't already memorized it. He knows we always get 3 sides of quest, chips, drinks and cookies. He remembers where my son goes to college and asks about him often. (He even remembers his order when he comes home on the weekend) He knows my name and puts in my points. The staff is alright, but David is for sure the star of the show! This guy needs a raise. He is for sure the main reason we are there so often. He's also the reason we all wish we had gone to Hot Head's instead of the other place! Sorry David we will be back soon!!!!! read more

Slow service and subpar food. Queso tasted like boxed mac and cheese sauce. Chips are not fresh and I am not certain, but I believe we were charged for chips. The burritos we had were skimpy. They weigh them on a scale to measure each ingredient. It just seemed like a total cheapskate move. There were two guys working. One went in back with chips n salsa for himself and left the one guy to do everything. The guy that did help is moved at a snails pace. For a small burrito, a regular one, a kids nachos and a kids quesadilla it was about $35. Next time we will just head to Moe's. read more

Really wish they had more options for vegetarian protein. They are the only chain burrito place that does not have a option for vegan or vegetarian meat substitute. Really good. More variety than any of the competition, lots of meat, veggie, cheese and sauce choices. Also probably the cheapest of the cafeteria style burrito joints. Have been several times and would go more if it weren't a little far away from work/home. I would for sure give it a go if you enjoy chipotle/ moes. read more

I happened to drive by and turned around. It's like a Moe's but i think better. Great flavor. Many toppings to choose from. I just did the ground beef extra spicy, cheddar, red onion, jalapeños, lettuce, guacamole and hot sauce. What a great combo. Monday's you can get 2 for $12 read more

Another disappointing visit after my last review. It seems like it was different staff but I came 20minutes after placing my order and the girl working went up to a slip that was hanging up to still be made and asked if I could wait a couple minutes. They didn't make the order until I showed up. Luckily I wasn't in a rush and I waited and they were accommodating after that. I work in the food industry I can understand some things but having two girls working and only one table and one other online order that was already done, I can't understand why my order was left hanging up and not made when they had nothing else going on. And as I expected because now they rushed the order some things were forgotten. My chicken tacos seem to be pork tacos and are not spicy as I ordered and nachos had jalapeños after specifying we didn't want them. I really love this place for fast "mexican" food over the other competing chains but wish the customer service could be good. read more

I have no idea what these people are talking about below, I've been to Hot Head at least once a week since they've opened and I have never been disappointed. The food is always on point and even when the staff has been slamming busy they always seem to be able to crack a joke or have a few moment to give a genuinely caring suggestion about ur food. I probably never would have tried Barbacoa if it weren't for them. Once I asked for a mild sauce and the girl making my burrito put a spicy sauce on it and they owner actually personally made me a new burrito for free! Like how many places would that ever happen at, the guy was super awesome and funny. These people genuinely care about their product and customers. I'll defiantly keep going back. read more

Ok this ones my fault because I read the reviews and still went here. I was staying in the area and was just too lazy to drive further. The staff was friendly, even tho I hate that group "hello" when you go in these kind of places. I had a burrito and it just flat out sucked. Pulled pork was dried out, tortilla was steamed to the point I had to peel the wrapper off to eat it, the chips might as well have come out of a vending machine. This place recently opened and is a great alternative to the same old fast food chains near Bradley Airport (BDL). Similar to Moe's & Chipotle with a line where you pick what you'd like for your order. They have Burritos, Bowls, Nachos, Tacos and Quesadillas. I also really like that they offer "Li'l" sizes that are a little smaller and cheaper ($5-ish) than the regular menu items. Prices are in line with their competitors around $7-$12 for your regular size meal depending on if you order sides & a drink....you know the drill. The Protein choices for you meal include Chicken, Steak, Pork, Barbacoa, Taco Meat and Veggie. You can also get spicy versions of the meats as well. There are also several types of toppings and vegetables with a variety of sauces -around 10 flavors of sauce from mild to wild. Overall I recommend giving this place a try - the food is also really good and the staff is friendly and helpful. On Sundays there is a 2 for $12 offer where you can mix & match 2 burritos or bowls - which is a pretty good deal. I would also download their App where you can get some perks etc. read more

Wife and I had a very enjoyable lunch here. She opted for the chicken filled lil burrito..I had a steak filled regular size. place is quite small....maybe 8 or so little tables....thought we'd have to eat in our car..but a table opened up. Meals tasted very fresh....servers very helpful with offering advise on what ingredients to put inside our burrito. Seems pretty similar to Moe's and Chipotle.....many different kinds of sauce appears to be their "gimmick". for what it is..we were very satisfied and will return. read more

I'm unclear on these recent posts regarding Hot Heads. I personally eat here twice a week, day and night, since they have opened. I have met the owners. They have showed nothing but concern for their product, it's presentation and the over all visit and satisfaction of the customer. I have always found consistency in product and service over the last month or two since opening. Burritos and bowls are huge, fresh and great tasting. I don't see any "skimping" thats been outlined in previous messages. I, and other friends, feel the product is much better then Moes and on par with Chipotle. Fresh chicken, pork and steak. They don't even have a freezer in the place. Although a brand new concept, they are doing a damn good job and deserves your visit. read more

This place has potential,as does Moe's. ..the only prob is that, despite all the various fixin's,sauces,etc what you get (burrito in my case) just don't have any real flavor. ..same with Moe's. I have been to places that are significantly better even though they have 4 or maybe 5 ingredients in burrito instead of 8 or 9-it is quite odd how they can manage to 'bland up' the food so much! Came in for lunch today with a buddy and we thoroughly enjoyed our food. Had the bowl with barbacoa and added the sweet habanero sauce and the signature garlic sauce. This was the most flavorful and enjoyable Mexican food I've had in a long time. I also split a steak and chicken quesadilla....which I thought was out of this world! Decided to try out this new place for dinner. It's kind of got the Moe's and Chipotle feel when you walk in. They greet you and then you get in line to build your burrito, taco, etc. The staff was friendly and talked to us and answered any questions we had. Only 2 had any sort of sense of urgency. The food tastes bad..no flavor, most likely because it was freezing cold. The only warm item was the queso which was not bad but watery and not the best I've had. Also the chips come in this pre-packaged bag...weird. No self serve napkins, the trash can is one small 6" circle..I had to literally place our trash piece by piece into it - I don't know why this pissed me off so much. It's just unsanitary and not necessary. You'll see what I mean if you go. Giving them two stars because I didn't get sick, the store was clean, and the place is still very, very new. This franchise started in OH and it's the first location on the East Coast according to an employee. It's right near the airport, and everyone will be popping in to try it out. First impressions are everything. I will not be returning unfortunately. I'll stick to Chipotle when I want that quick burrito that makes you slip into a food coma after. Stopped for lunch and ordered three chicken tacos and a drink. Initially, I thought that $11.00 after tax was a bit excessive, but a new experience is worth a few extra dollars...Although all of the ingredients seemed to be fresh, the chicken in the tacos was cold and tasteless. I finished eating the tacos in about four minutes, struggled to squeeze the wrappers and napkins into a small hole in the top of a trash receptacle for about a minute (the place needs a NORMAL sized trash can) then drove right next door to McDonalds and ordered a double cheeseburger because I was still hungry. I don't know if I'll ever go back, but if I do, I know that: 1.) I'll order something that is served warm or hot. 2.) I'll double the order, or order something completely different than the tacos. 3.) Ask for or bring some salt so I can taste the food. 4.) Leave the trash on top of the receptacle to protest the small size of the opening. I think the place is onto something, but it needs some major tweaking to be really good.
