I was excited to try out this spot because it's name combines two of my favorite things- hot sauce and burritos! Maybe my expectations were too high but the burrito I got was not enjoyable. This place is similar to Chipotle but 10 times better. The overall quality of the foods was on point and the service was phenomenal! They were busy but they got it done unlike most places today. So great job Hot Heads. Next time I'm in the area I may just stop in everyday! Great place of you like this type of food! jaelyn b was the one who took my order she did a horrible job with the amount of food she served us on 5 plates. then decided to mix up a spicy and non spicy plate while one was for my son who is allergic to spicy foods then she continued to scam through my plate with her hands to try to figure out which was which and expected me to take the food after she dug through them to figure out which was which and she still didnt figure it out. very bad horrible person to have serving food the way she did... digging in people food is not ok the fact my son is allergic and she expected us to figure out which was which is ridiculous... would never return again thank you jaelyn b for making this the last straw for hot heads for me and my family read more

Updating this review because they have put in the work to deserve the 4.5 stars I'm giving them for my most recent visit(s). They are technically a chain but there's only one location in CT (they're based in OH I believe) and when they're doing things right - as they had been when they first opened - it's really very good. Hot Heads is very similar to a Moe's or a Chipotle with some minor, but important differences. The most significant of which are the more than 12 different sauces they use to finish their bowls, burritos, tacos, salads, etc. They also offer 'toasted' burritos (and other items) which is not something you can get at the formerly mentioned restaurants. They have a few more 'signature' bowls than other, similar chains so you can literally order by number if you're in a hurry and of course you are free to build your own 'custom' anything, any way you like - including the pre-configured "numbered" options. I think they offer just a little bit more variety at Hot Heads as well. One thing they do that I have not seen at other places is they weigh the meat portions. This way it's always consistent, and that can make a HUGE difference. All in all I think they are back to their former glory and I hope they keep that up because I always love stopping at this place when I'm up near the airport. 4.5 stars! read more

Great fast food. Similar set up to Chipotle. That being said I think this place is far better. More options. I had Leroy's Spicy Chicken burrito. 1-10 spice level for me was about a 5. If 1/2 stars were an option I'd say 3.5 stars but I feel I'd be low balling them by only giving 3 stars because there was a lot that I liked about this place. It's not 'authentic' Mexican but more along the line of a Moe's. I don't care for Moe's but I liked this place. First of all, there are lots of healthy options. They have brown rice, cilantro rice, black beans, a smaller rice bowl vs larger rice bowl. The grilled veggies were chunky grilled veggies that were delicious. The corn was also flavored nicely. Similar to Subway or Chipotle you choose all these great toppings and a bowl or whatever you ordered gets customized. They also offer lots of types of proteins including 2 kinds of steak, chicken, barbacoa, etc. The sauces are delicious! I chose the sweet habanero sauce. I would buy a bottle of it if it were for sale. They should really sell bottles! So for a 'fast food' type of place this was a pleasant surprise to me. read more

Tried this place for the first time today and it was great! Ordered custom soft chicken tacos, the pork verde burrito bowl and a kids cheese quesadilla meal! My son is a very picky eater but I was surprised he ate most of the quesadilla and chips and salsa! He told me it was "delicious" (a word I rarely hear out of my 3 year old's mouth)! Everything tasted great and the meat was very well-seasoned. My hubby even thought the pork was better than Chipotle! I saw reviews on here about the service being poor in the past- it was friendly and quick today so no complaints there! The meals are super overpriced, Chipotle is cheaper surprisingly. The food is good but I prefer Chipotle. For two meals I paid a little over $30 without drinks just two bowls. We overheard the manager saying this is the first Hot Head Burrito on the East Coast, so that's pretty cool. The Mexican fast food market is pretty full here with Qdoba, Moe's and Chipotle, so it shows how much Mexican-style food has gone mainstream once Taco Bell paved the way. Anyway- the dining room is cozy with 4 booths and a handful of small tables. You order assembly-line style (let's call it the Subway Model) and can choose from Bowls, Burritos, Tacos, Quesadillas, and Nachos customized with your choice of protein (pork, chicken, steak) a rainbow selection of 15 extras or veggies (16 if you want to spring the extra buck for guacamole), and ten different sauces. For lunch we had a chicken quesadilla and a salad with chicken. I loaded the salad up with black beans, pico, corn, salsa, banana peppers, onions, jalapenos, and Cholula sauce. It was pretty good, but definitely came in second to a similar salad at Moe's that definitely had more chicken and more overall volume. The quesadilla was folded over and press grilled, so it didn't look like your typical flat quesadilla. The food was around $14, but the portions were smaller and Moe's adds on free chips. Hot Head definitely merits an A-OK in my book. read more

Lots of food and variety for a burrito! And cheaper than Chipotle! The premise and set-up is the same as the big C. The proteins, beans, toppings, and forms (e.g., burrito, salad, bowl), are all the same; but I think where Hot Head excels is in their sauce options. I love their signature Hot Head, which includes some garlic and is a bit creamy, and there are lots of gradations of heat in the sauces. Without skimping on the quantity, the price is easily $2+ less than big C. The quality of the ingredients is definitely there. The biggest issue is that this spot can get busy, so there aren't always seat available. read more

It was my first time trying Hot Head Burritos and wow was I impressed. I got a chicken burrito and it was amazing. I usually go to Chipotle, Qdoba, or Moes, but then I came across this place while staying at a near by hotel. And in my opinion it's better than all 3!! They have an incredible selection of sauces (view picture). These are a must try, make sure you add at least one. I wish they had more locations on the east coast but so far this is the only one I've seen. read more

Went here to pick up an online order. Was greeted with a friendly cashier, telling me that the order I was picking up was not made because the items on the side needed to be charged. I asked which items and he showed me. I previously had picked up this same order before with no issue. I asked if anyone was going to contact me to let me know as I could've come at anytime, from anywhere to pick it up and it not be made. He said no. I said ok. I asked if this could be corrected next time as I'm picking up the order and cannot modify it. He said no based on what his manager stated. I asked if I could speak with her. She came over and I asked her the same question about making the order this time as it did not charge for the items online. She said no but she could make it without them. I said again that I can't edit someone else's order and I tried contacting them. Once they called back I let them know about the issue. They asked to cancel their entire order. She said she would do so. Once she started trying to cancel the order, she immediately started having system issues. She called someone she referred to as the owner and had a clear attitude with him on the phone as he was trying to assist. She slammed the phone down and made smart remarks as I stood there among other customers. She hung up and said at the moment I can't refund it and they are working on it, no time frame or anything. I asked ok so if that's the case can we just make the bowl and move on to next time. She said that's her only resolution to wait for her owner to figure it out. Again no time frame. I asked can she call to see if he would allow it or have another resolution. She began ignoring me, while taking other customers. I asked if I could have her corporate number after a few minutes and she said "it's in google". People like this are definitely not made for customer service and people serving. I left after deciding to finally recording her ignore me and another, uninformed, employee said that I would be getting it, when I didn't. No refund/no food. This is also why local business gets a bad rep over some of the bigger chains. Not enough training for staff in customer service. read more
