We had to visit Hahaoya earlier today at 10/06. This restaurant is almost empty during lunch time so this makes me want to go back to Social Media Marketing !!!
It's a year later, not sure what happened but this place is just ok. Hardly any customers during dinner. TVs were all over the walls showing all kinds of shows (a bit chaotic). Order through the device, free regular iced water and teas are nice, but the food is just okay. My com tam's cha tasted a bit fishier than it should and the bread for the Bo kho seemed like it was toasted hours ago, being all chewy by the time I got it. I should have asked for another one but I figured I'm probably not gonna return. Food is brought to you and that's it so service is pretty nonexistent.

This was ok. The pork chop was really thin, which I like, but the portion was so small (after you remove all the bone and fat) the at I was still hungry by the time I finished the pork chop. There was too much sauce on the pork chop too, it was overpowering. I would come here again if I happened to be in the area, but not willingly, if I had another choice.
I was pretty impressed by this com tam place, and there's so many options to choose from in OC! Ordering was very simple on an iPad, but the workers were very attentive and available in case we needed help. I love a Viet restaurant that plays food videos on their TVs while you're eating, and this place does just that. It just gives authentic vibes... We started with the thai basil clams and lemongrass clams. They were good, but we wished the flavors were stronger. For mains, we tried their com tam and their chicken curry. I usually never finish my com tam but this time I did! For my three toppings, I chose the tau hu ky, grilled pork, and steamed egg cake. The tau hu ky was so crispy, grilled pork was perfectly seasoned, and I loved the texture of the steamed egg. The complimentary soup that it came with was also actually super rich and flavorful and complimented the com tam very well. I'll definitely be back!
Funny how the place is called HOT but despite being 1.6 miles away it was delivered to me cold. SMH Portion size is small (I'm talking half what it should be) compared to other Vietnamese places, but the nearby place I order bánh thịt nướng chả from in Westminster (LanAnh) closes early on Sundays so I ordered DoorDash from here to be delivered 5:50pm. I played my order 3:30 and it arrived 5 minutes before my scheduled time. Wanted to try something new off Yelp with good reviews so I went with this. Next time I'll skip DoorDash and go get orders at the restaurant myself. That way, I don't get lukewarm food at best. Both orders came same temp. Must've been made at least 30 minutes before driver picked it up. My son liked the fish sauce because it was straight up sweet from the sugar in the fish sauce. He finished his portion and was still hungry. Skipping this place next time. Paid $40 when I could've cooked a much more satisfying meal with leftovers for $20.
First time here and found this great Vietnamese restaurant! The Bun Bo Hue was delicious and full of flavor. The pork and shrimp spring rolls were fresh, and the lemongrass clams were so tasty. Everything was fresh, the portions were generous, and the service was friendly. I will definitely be back!
In the ultra competitive Vietnamese food scene in Westminster only the best survive but in this case, this place raised the bar. I'll let the food pics speak for themselves. The food was even better than even in my pics. All the dishes were amazing but I especially loved the basil clams, the shrimp and the pork chops. Also service staff was attentive, friendly and courteous. They use a tablet for ordering so it was fast and efficient. The ghost of the old pizza hut vibes also bring a bit of nostalgia but they tastefully modernized it well. Can't wait to go back!
The food is SO good! I don't usually order com whenever we eat, but decided to give it a try since they specialize in it. I ordered with it thit and it was SO good; it actually reminded me of the food I had in Vietnam. Our server was really friendly! I never got his name, but he was the guy with glasses. He gave us a run down of the menu and what/how to order.
Really enjoyed stopping by here! I like the ipad and how the portions were. The pricepoint definitely seemed fair and I'll definitely be coming back! The thit nuong really tasted like it came hot out the grill! Will try their nem next!
Tried this little Vietnamese spot near my house and honestly... I'm glad we did. The food was super yummy. I've definitely had better Vietnamese food before, not gonna lie, but this place is a close second, and what really makes it stand out is that it's open late. That alone makes it such a win, especially when you're craving something that isn't fast food at 10-11pm. The restaurant itself is really clean and inviting. It wasn't busy at all when we went, which made it a perfect place to just sit, eat, and chat without feeling rushed. There were plenty of tables and even a cute little outdoor patio if you want to eat outside. Bathrooms were clean too, which always gets bonus points from me. You order on a tablet, which I actually loved. I'm terrible at making decisions, so being able to scroll through everything, look at pictures, and take my time was super helpful. No pressure, no awkward "I'm not ready yet" moments. The food wasn't my absolute favorite Vietnamese food ever, but it also wasn't bad at all, it was solid, comforting, and hit the spot. I can totally see myself coming back again and again for a late-night snack or casual bite, especially since most other places are closed by then. Overall, it's a great little late-night option that feels way better than grabbing fast food. Clean, chill vibe, decent food, and open late, that combo alone makes it worth going back.
Food was 3 stars but I am bumping to 4 because of the service. We drove out of our way to dinner here and the server saw that we looked lost. He kindly explained how to order and checked on us frequently. We got the broken rice with the pork chop, steamed egg cake and fried chicken. The fried chicken was yummy and fried well. The pork chop was a step down from brodard's since brodard's has a smokey flavor that keeps me coming back. My wife got the bun bo hue which was okay. It was missing the pork feet that usually accompanies the dish. She appreciated that the broth was not spicy and that chili was offered on the side. Truthfully, we wouldn't go out of our way to dine here again but would eat here if we were running errands nearby.
If you're craving a quick fix of broken rice, this is the place! I didn't expect much at first, but it actually turned out pretty good. You order on an iPad, and the staff brings everything out to you. The ambiance is surprisingly nice too. We ordered four items, pork chops, egg, shrimp, and egg rolls and everything hit the spot. We also tried the fish sauce wings, which were delicious. Plus, it's super close to home, so that's a win!

Just amazing. I had Bun Bo Hue noodle soup and it was by far the best experience, best tasting Vietnamese food I've had in 10 years in Southern California. There is plenty of parking, the service was great, the food was AUTHENTIC and insanely good. Highly recommend. read more
Broken rice is my favorite Vietnamese rice dish. BBQ meat, an egg quiche and pork skin salad on a bed of broken rice with fish sauce. It's a classic combination and a comforting meal that keeps me full the whole day. The secret is all about the BBQ pork for me and HOT falls flat. It is just ok. Parking is easy. Casual. We were actually here for Mi La Cay but sadly it was replaced by Yummy. So mom & I decided to try Hot Com Tam since it is basically next door & the pictures of the dishes on their window looked pretty good. As we entered the restaurant, we were coldly greeted by a woman. The restaurant looks clean and we were the only customers at the time. Mom had Bun Bo Hue. She said it was good. I had the Egg Noodle Wonton Char Siu Pork with soup on the side. Soup was okay, Char Siu Pork was good but the noodle was hard & very chewy felt like I was eating plastic noodle instead of egg noodle. read more

My son was craving some com tam, and I had been hearing about this place for a bit now so I figured I would give it a try and see what the hype was about. My son ordered com tam w/ bbq pork and egg rolls, and I decided to be risky and ordered the bun bo hue. Both dishes came out quickly and exceeded our expectations. My son gobbled down his meal (so I know it was good), and my bun bo hue hit the right flavor notes. The service was quick and friendly, and our cups were never empty. There's plenty of small and large party seating options, and it's a chill atmosphere all around. I'll be back, and I hope to see you there. :) read more

HOT Com Tam is open late, so it's a very convenient spot for dinner. There's plenty of seating and parking. You order your food on a little tablet and the server was very friendly. Tried the com tam and it was really good! Prices here are also great. I'm glad it's so close to my house because I'd love to come back and try their other dishes. read more

Very reasonably priced. They give you a tablet to place your order. We got the 3 item which included short ribs, pork chop, egg, rice and salad. I was really surprised at the portion sizes. Also ordered the cream cheese wontons which I personally wouldn't order again but the broken rice is definitely would return for. I couldn't believe soda was only 99 cents I've never seen it that cheap before. read more
HOT Com Tam is a restaurant that advertises being "famous" for Vietnamese broken rice. IMO it can be risky to make such a claim but credit to them because their menu offerings live up to the hype! Located in Westminster near the corner of Goldenwest Street and Westminster Boulevard, their broken rice plates are served in 1, 2, 3, or 4 course variations. Customers have the option to select from the following options: - Shredded Pork and Skin - Steam Egg Cake - Fried Egg Rolls - Fried Chicken - Chinese Sausage - Vietnamese Sausage - Sunny Side Up Egg - Charbroiled Pork Chop - Tofu Skin Shrimp Cake - Charbroiled Pork - Charbroiled Shrimp You can also add Beef Short Rib for an up charge. I chose classics like Fried Egg Rolls, Fried Chicken, Vietnamese Sausage and Charbroiled Pork Chop, and I can honestly say this was one of the best meals I've enjoyed in recent memory. There was only one server working the entire restaurant but he provided exemplary service and we were commenting how he was smiling the entire time. After being seated, he brought us a tablet so we could place our order. The service we got here was amazing. Very attentive. We ordered: Fish sauce wings - delicious and crispy Broken rice with 3 sides (shredded pork, pork chop, and tofu skin cake) - the flavor on the meat wasn't as strong as we wouldve liked. Also the tofu skin cake was a bit undercooked Wonton noodles soup with char siu and dry wonton soup with char siu and shrimp. - soup was good but one of the wonton pieces was a bit off. Bun Cha nem ha noi - the flavor of the sauce that the meat was in, was not strong or flavorful enough for me. read more
This Vietnamese restaurant took over Princess Thai which took over Pizza Hut. A lot has change in this area over the past two decades but some establishments stay the same. Parking is limited during their peak times Inside reminds of Pizza Hut but decor has change. There are flatscreen TVs all over to display food. Menu is small and simple. Water is free. They do have fountain but no refill (WTH). This place is know for their broken rice. So I order the 4 meat combo which includes bi (shredded pork), cha (egg), tau hu sky (tofu skin shrimp cake) and nem nuong (grilled sausage) All rice dishes come with fish sauce and small soup. Rice combo presentation is a bit emailer than other typical Vietnamese places but I guess it rewards in taste. However, the rice is not broken. Overall, it's very good and should try it out. Can't say about the service because I was the only one there but waiter was nice and patient for first timer look at the menu. read more
Yum! This place is so good and the com tam definitely met my standards. I ordered the 2 item com tam with tau hu ky (bean curd fried shrimp) and nem nuong (Vietnamese grilled pork sausage). Both tasted authentic and just how I had it growing up. The broken rice itself was cooked perfectly. The side soup was tasty and light. My friends got the Thai tea which was perfectly made, good balance of sweet and herbal-y. Price is very fair and reasonable for both the food and drink. We ordered on a tablet and it was fairly easy. I can kind of see older generations potentially having a hard time with it. The service was really great, our server was nice and helpful. The restaurant looked great inside and the restroom was clean/didn't smell bad. The only issue I had with the set up was the snake plants on the tables attracted small flies. Overall I would definitely recommend and come back. The food tasted great and the pricing is generally good. read more

Normally I don't do bad reviews, but I just had to this time. I've got food from here a few times, it's like my go to for Com Tam because it's near where I live and the food here are delicious. Anyway, today I ordered a Togo, while she was doing a transaction I wanted to order a drink and asked if I could get a drink too. She said yeah but she gave me an attitude. No smile at all and just tossed me the receipt. So rude. I was so mad that I just walked out and forgot about my drink! then I remembered. Luckily I was still in my car. When I got back inside she was like "oh you just left.." then headed to the fridge and did the drink omg didn't bother to go after the customer. What if they forgot?? I love this place, but don't want to have any interactions with her anymore. She shouldn't be at the register if she has that kind of personality. She acts like I'm begging for food or something when I actually paid for them. I think her name is on the receipt. Phuong. She should be in the kitchen instead of customer service if she doesn't change. The guys were so much polite and better! read more

My son recommended me this place. I always drove by but didn't stop by. Glad I had the chance to eat there their rice portion is a lot! For the price of $15 you choose up to 4 add ons. Service is good and one guy literally running the show. He very friendly always smiling. Place is very clean and service is the best! Been there twice and will be back for more! I ate here before with my mother on 3 other occasions. This time I was on my own. The restaurant nice open and very spread out so you're not right next to another party. The AC was nice. There was a lot of TV on all direction showing Vietnamese cuisine but I rather have a game on. The table has generous helping of condiments, pickled jalepenos garlic, chili paste and chili oil. Tables and condiments container were clean. Utensils were metal spoons and chops sticks which was nice. You get 1 napkin. So restaurant gives you what you need and avoid waste. Waiter gives me an ordering iPad that you order and send it directly to the kitchen. I debated over Bun Rieu or bun Bo hue. I got Bun Bo Hue. It was very tasty. Good amount of meat but not enough noodle. Little bit more would be perfect. The veggie were just enough for the soup. I would prefer extra, I'm not sure if they would charge for extra. This place is GOOD. My favorite com tam place I've had in a long time and I will be back. PARKING & LOCATION // Parking is easy with its own lot but kind of the middle of not that much. Hard to miss and I wouldn't worry about parking. FOOD // I ordered the com tam with ba mon (3 sides): lap xuong (Chinese sausage), tau hy ky (tofu skin), and thit nuong (grilled pork). I also got a side of their broth. Everything was so fresh, flavorful, and delicious. It did not feel greasy at all and just tasted really authentic. You order on an iPad and they bring it out. I would absolutely get this dish again and the tau hu ky is a MUST side dish for me. AMBIANCE // I was nervous because it felt so modern and new inside and didn't want to give up that home-like feel/taste to the dish but they really nailed it! The restaurant itself is quite big and the tables are spaced out. Because of the iPads, you technically don't have to talk to the staff if you don't want to but I did see some older couples just order verbally as well. OVERALL // 5.0 No frills but very modern com tam place that I think about every week. I can't wait to go back! read more

I wish there are more greens and cucumber and comes with soup .Rice is just right amount. Service is super fast and friendly and attentive staff. Ambiance is quiet and chill. We were the first customers on a Sunday at opening, So we had really good service. Really efficient as every table has a tablet that lets you order anything from the menu. Would be even better if they had pictures to go with the items Lots of tvs with different videos of diff parts of Vietnam showcasing our culture & that scored bonus points for my mom. Food was really good, with good portions and well priced. Ordered 2 Com Tam dishes w/ 2 sides as well as the Mi Kho w/ all the proteins (be sure to click all 3 if you use their tablets to order) The grilled pork, short ribs, nem, and fried shrimp patty wrapped in tofu skin, were all delicious. Surprisingly enjoyed the Mi Kho (dry) egg noods the most. Really good texture and plentiful meats + veggies on the side. Sauce was a bit sweet but balances out well once you have the soup and veggies that are served on the side + highly recommend adding some chili / pickled garlic/jalapeno that's provided on the table Viet coffee is basic but good. Strong. Will def return for more. read more

Really enjoyed this place! They're open pretty late and the com tam is really good. Service is very friendly and everything is done through a tablet on the table so it is fairly quick too. I love how they let you customize your com tam and the portions are super generous. read more
Com tam is in its name but they also have some solid items outside of broken rice! The 4 items (steam egg cake, fried egg rolls, charbroiled beef short rib, and charbroiled beef short rib) I got with the com tam had solid flavors and were great quality, and not every com tam place has the beef short rib like they do which is a plus for them. Hu tieu bo kho tasted fresh with flavorful broth and tender beef. Mi kho with char siu, wonton, and shrimp was fine but was nothing memorable - char siu could have used more flavor and I feel like they could do more with the filling in the wonton. Very friendly service. Interior is modern and comfortable. This might not be one of the best com tam in OC but their com tam is still delicious. read more

We was looking for a place to eat and we came across Hot Com Tam. So We decided to go. We came in without any expectations, and it turned out to be such a great experience with delicious food. The service was excellent, especially considering the place is run by just one person in the front and two cooks in the kitchen. We visited on an early Sunday morning. The restaurant was bright and very open. It had a very clean feeling and each table had a tablet to order from yourself (or the staff could take your order). The staff was very friendly and our food came out quickly after putting in our orders. Prior to the food arriving, the servers dropped off our drinks, utensils, and condiments. The fish sauce here seems to be mixed with olive oil which was interesting. Didn't love it but didn't dislike it. All of us had variants of the 3 item, broken rice combos. I had the pork, shredded pork, and egg cake. Others at the table had similar combos but some with grilled shrimp, fried chicken and Vietnamese sausage. Everyone seemed satisfied cleaning their plates. As far as Vietnamese flavors go, the food was decent and scratched the itch I had for Vietnamese rice. The only real complaint we had about the restaurant was they they didn't prioritize bussing tables where customers had finished eating. As we left, there were multiple tables that hadn't been cleared. I applaud them for putting the customers present and eating first but part of a restaurant is the ambiance. While it felt clean when we arrived, the many, many uncleared and vacant tables on our way out had the opposite effect. I'm sure had customers needed the tables, they would have cleared them but that's an assumption. read more

First time here, and the food is really bad. The Chao Tom is way overcooked, the portions for the three combinations are too small, and it's too expensive. The service is the worst--no communication, just staring at the customers like they're animals in a zoo. I will never come back here again. read more

Authentic cơm tấm with generous portions! The meat was tender, service was fast, and the place was clean. I also enjoyed the tofu skin (forgot what it's called, but it was really good!). We tried the Vietnamese coffee--it's bold and strong, just the way it should be. The Thai tea was a bit on the lighter side, but overall, we enjoyed the experience and will definitely be back. read more
This is a new restaurant so there are definitely areas of improvement. Love how clean this place is, which is expected for a new establishment. I'm just going to jump right in... plates. For this dish, broken rice, you don't use segregated plates. It's hard to enjoy the mixture of the meal. This was voiced quite a bit at my family table. There was delays with orders, standard water service, and utensil offering. This should have been ironed out during pre opening for a smooth operation. Soup bowl... use regular soup bowl so the staff doesn't spill half of it on their tray, which can burn them also. Safety first. Each of us had half of the soup portion because the waiter took the other half with him on his tray. Steam egg was good but everything else lack consistency. We had five plates to compare so it's quite evident. Overall, could definitely improve if these items are addressed. I would come back but only if updates are made. This is a new restaurant that opened about 2 weeks ago that specializes in broken rice and vermicelli noodles. The concept is really simple, for $14.99, you select your base of either rice or noodles, and pick up to 3 toppings. Additional toppings are $1.99 each. I chose the vermicelli noodles with grilled shrimp, egg roll, and shrimp paste wrapped in tofu skin. My sister-in-law got vermicelli noodles with pork chops, egg roll, and shredded pork rinds. Her parents and my dad got the broken rice with pork chops, shrimp paste wrapped in tofu skin, and shredded pork rinds. We all loved the food and thought the presentation was very nice! The dishes looked good and tasted good! The restaurant is very inviting, clean, and spacious. Staff members were pleasant as well. Don't forget to quench your thirst with a glass of iced tea for $0.99. The tea was so fragrant, we all loved it! read more
