We ended up coming here because our usual bagel shop was closed this weekend. There's a fairly big parking lot, which is great, and the place is fairly spacious as well; they have a bar by the window, but no tables or at least not when I was there. I got there everything bagel with two eggs, and the price was fairly similar to other places around the area. The bagel was good, but not my favorite. They were very quick to take our order and to give it to us, which is always a plus! especially on a busy weekend. I think this is a good establishment, fairly reliable if you want quick OK bagels. read more

I came here on a Friday afternoon craving a breakfast sandwich. It wasn't too busy. But the staff seemed a bit distracted. It took a bit before i got someone's attention to get my order. I got the everything bagel with Taylor ham and egg. I wanted taylor ham, egg and cheese but they forgot the cheese. They have a wide selection of bagels and a variety cream cheese. The bagel I had was fresh, soft and delicious. It seems like the menu had decent options for lunch as well. I might consider ordering online ahead of time so I'm in and out next time. They do have a parking lot that they share with other business so that's a plus. Overall it's a decent place to grab something to eat for breakfast/brunch or lunch. read more

The best. These guys push out solid, fresh, flavorful bagels every single day. This has been my pregnancy craving and I have to get my bakers dozen every week! No other bagel in Jersey compares. Love their veggie cream cheese too. The staff working the counter are pros at dealing with oftentimes insane queues. read more

It can get very crowded especially on weekends. To avoid having to wait, an order was placed through Caviar. Arrived well within a time period for order to be ready. Nobody acknowledged me, I began to look at the bags for my name. The woman assuming owner/manager was very rude. "What you want?. You don't see it! Not ready" Apparently they don't take orders through Caviar. The male owner/manager. Checks the register and said he had no ticket. I showed him all of the order details on my phone. End result, will not be returning, terrible interaction. read more

the restaurant, since it is primarily to-go food, is always packed with people waiting to order or receive their order. i tried to order ahead online to save time, but unfortunately they dont necessarily have someone dedicated to giving to go orders out so there will still be a wait. they gave me my order as soon as i got up front, however they must have given me the wrong order as one item i did not ask for, one item was missing, and one item was lacking an ingredient, so unfortunately my whole order was messed up. i was able to come back after realizing and receive the correct order, along with an extra bagel for my troubles, which was very nice! my only issue is that with such a busy restaurant, food should be labeled correctly as I cannot always have time to drive back for the correct order. check your food when you pick up! read more

Absolutely the best bagels outside of NYC. I've tried several other local places that have no idea what the proper texture for a bagel is, and sell bread donuts or bread rolls and call the bagels. All of my friends and family love this place. read more

I've been going to bagels a broad on broad street for 15+ years. My wife ordered through 'too good to go' and I had to drive to the valley road location. Whoever is hiring these chuckleheads needs to do a rethink. I arrived shortly before closing time and they told me they had no bagels, which was clearly a lie. They just wanted to leave which is understandable but how long does it take to put 12 bagels in a bag (which were already paid for). Will not be returning. read more

This was the last place we ate at in Montclair on our way upstate and it was great! I ordered an Everything Bagel, toasted with Low-Fat Veggie Cream Cheese and it was spectacular. I am so envious of my friends in Montclair who have regular access to these bagels. The place also has a wide variety of breakfast style bagels including meat and cheese options. I would highly recommend trying this place out even if it's a bit out of the way! read more

Manager / Owner EXTREMELY RUDE! Had an issue with extremely smelly fishy Tuna sandwich. I tried to privately address the issue with manager. Instead of apologizing and just replacing my sandwich, he loudly defended himself, kept rudely insisting he makes the tuna fresh every THREE days (must have been day 3). I was very nice, tried not to make a scene, but HE made the scene...lol. The best part.....his entire staff laughed when I walked out. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. This picture doesn't do the bagel justice. The service was amazing and they walked us through the little details of what to add. For example a squeeze of lemon juice inside which brought out the salmon flavor much more. The store has no seating and the roof was leaking water when I was there. But to be fair I'm there for the bagels so it was not an issue. read more

These guys do bagels well. Lot of comments about bad customer service. I've been 4 times so far including a busy Saturday and Sunday morning. My advice is to avoid the weekends if you don't want to stress about the line or the extremely busy environment. They do the best they can and no, they won't be chatting you up about the weather or the football game but they do a great job on bagels. Top notch everything bagel with tomato lox and cheese. My kids love their egg and cheese on a plain bagel and we tried their chicken panini which was very good. Again, these guys are always busy. The guys behind the counter at working at a maddening pace. They are direct and to the point and try to get you in and out as fast as possible with delicious bagels. Thank you Hot bagels! Visiting from out of state, we wanted an authentic local bagel experience. Hot Bagels Abroad had great reviews on Yelp so we gave it a try and were not disappointed. In fact we were thrilled. We called in the order, it was ready when promised, and when we got home everything was perfect, fresh, and delicious. Definitely our go to place the next time we want sandwiches. We highly recommend the Bruce Willis and Mr. Montclair! As a bonus, the coleslaw and macaroni salad were also very good. read more

I tried to give this place a chance but after going in multiple times for a basic dozen bagels, I have yet to receive the bagels I ordered. They just throw 12 in a bag and give you what you get, not what you asked for. So while the bagels may be good, they're not THAT good to make up for the poor and rude service you receive. read more

After heading to my homeland NJ for a family reunion, I knew I wanted two things: pizza and egg bagels. We feasted on breakfast sandwiches from Hot Bagels Abroad and brought a dozen egg bagels home. I should have reviewed this place earlier when it was better, but Hot Bagels Abroad has been disappointing me for a while now. Montclair has a serious lack of *good* bagel shops and Hot Bagels Abroad had been the very best, unfortunately the quality has suffered in the last couple of years and service is frustrating due to their introduction of Doordash. First, the quality. As usual, the bagels are giant. Nobody needs that many carbs to start their day. What happened to traditional bagels? The bagels just aren't as good as they used to be. I'm not sure what they are doing differently, but even when they are nice and hot out of the oven, they don't taste the same. Second, since COVID, they have started working with Doordash. Great for business, terrible for the customer. You walk in and there is virtually no line, but it takes them ten minutes to see you because they have all of these Doordash orders. I want the old Hot Bagels Abroad back so I can give it five stars. read more

Landed at EWR at 5:30 am one morning and headed straight here. The best double egg bagel and vegetable cream cheese E-v-e-r. The owner was on site and already sold 350 bagels. Customer service was stellar. The set up was convenient, and chill. Can't wait to visit again. Enjoy! read more

They are rude disrespectful..my order was incorrect and as I tried to resolve the issue professionally..and they told me it's not my problem...as I continued too ask for what I ordered they hung up on me..and the manager wasn't pleasant and I will not be supporting them any longer...and I grew up in montclair..never seen this before towards me...but I did hear they can be rude at times..I believe it now!! read more

Very good bagels! Picked this place due to the high ratings. The place was packed. Could use a bit more of organization once you're inside but the place isn't that big so maybe that's why. Small place. Big bagel. Located in the strip mall on Valley Road this place is hopping in the morning. No matter the day. People in and out quickly. Many bagel choices, but Ive had only sesame or poppy seed. I enjoy them both. They make a mean breakfast sandwich with terrific (if not quite enough) bacon. The prices are fair and the service is polite and quick. The bagels are really quite large. Easy in and out. parking can take a moment because its a strip mall and parking is not great. read more

We all know how busy this place be on a Saturday morning long lines,phone busy so i decided to take a walk there I put on sweats the place is like 200ft from my house but I really didn't want to come out at 10 am in the morning.anyway got there there was no line to my surprise I ordered a French toast bagel with bacon egg and cheese with salt and pepper.Got home made me a cup of coffee boy I did not know the experience was about to have every bite was an adventure the sandwich was soft and juicy.The mix of the sugar with salt and pepper was to die for.Getting up and walk to get my sandwich was the best decision of the day. read more

I'm a big everything bagel guy (and either with BEC or with just plain untoasted with butter). They always have some fun variations on the typical everything bagel. Love when they have the Asiago Everything available - what a treat! Tons of cheese melted on top and it just goes really well with whatever you pair it with. Been going here now and then for years. Not always the easiest spot to get parking (the lot can fill up for sure) and sometimes there's a wait, but the bagels are always super fresh and delicious. Highly recommended if you're in the Clifton area or coming through and need a bite. Just realize there are no tables or anything, so you may have to bring home or eat in your car!

I am thankful that I always take a good look at my food. I came by a few months ago for a toasted bagel with butter, and I was also disappointed. The bagel was decent, but the butter would not melt? It tasted almost plastic like. Unfortunately, I will not return to this establishment for food.

Instead of a simple yes or no, I was told they "couldn't do that" that next time i need to order the right thing and then hung up on mid-sentence. When i tried to call back the phone was disconnected. Hanging up on a customer for asking for no cheese is wild. It's not about the request -- it's about the attitude and lack of basic customer service. I make an effort to support small businesses, but respect goes both ways. The reasons for rounding down and not up are pretty simple. The place itself has random slabs of wood and TV boxes laying around and the dust on the wires to their illuminated window sign and the fan next to it looks like it was growing since 1997. Plus, there's 4 people behind the counter engaged in their own conversation and meanwhile I'm just standing at the counter waiting to be helped. Aaaaaand bc there's no menu on the wall like you find in most bagel shops and delis ... but here they just have 2 paper menus taped to the lower half of their walls. If the bagels weren't as good as they are this would've easily been a 2 star review, but there's no debating that they make really solid and large bagels! They also stuff the bagel sandwiches decently and once you order it's ready pretty quickly. And the coffee is really good too ... and hot! So there were lots of goods and lots of not so goods that contributed to the 3 stars. I might be back ... and that's only to try a toasted bagel with cream cheese.
