The two of us walked in and there were about 3 other small groups of people. They didn't welcome us, and just told us to sit down. We sat down and they just never came back to us. Great sushi spot in Fullerton! Came here around 9:30pm and was pretty empty. They have a deal that shows all of their food is 40% off but in my opinion the food is overpriced and with the discount it equates to how much food normally regularly cost. I did order their udon and I thought it was pretty good. The udon was more on the sweeter side. I also ordered a hot tea which was decent too. My friend ordered the hamachi Kama and tasted really moist and fresh. I also tried some of the rolls my friends got and they also tasted really fresh and yummy. Overall enjoyed the food! read more

Sushi snob here ;) Decided to try this place out and honestly pretty good . I ordered nigiri style yellowtail, salmon , toro , and tuna . Everything was good and fresh . However , the tuna was real whatever , I wouldn't order it again . Salmon skin hand roll was good but could be crunchier, still delicious. We decided on the latter and came to Hoshi Sushi and that was definitely the right choice! A good sushi spot should be quality over quantity, and Hoshi Sushi delivered. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The customer service was immaculate. The restaurant was spacious and the ambiance would be excellent for date night or just dinner with some friends or family. Everything tasted delicious so it was hard to pick a favorite. From the presentation to the taste, it was all fantastic! The kids loved the salon sushi, so we had to order that twice. This is by far my favorite sushi spot in OC. I've been looking for one for a while and I've been back to this restaurant at least 5 times. PreCOVID, this was an AYCE sushi restaurant. But now, they have half off everything except the bento boxes, I believe. Either way, if you eat as much as my fiancé, you'll still be full eating as if it's AYCE. More recently, the staff now check your temp prior to allowing to serve you, either indoor or outdoor. The first time I went, my friend didn't meet the temperature limit so she had to wait and have her temp checked again. The second time I went, the same friend and I had temps too high to be served. It was one of the hottest days we saw in October and both of us were wearing black. Needless to say, we had to wait a good 15-20 mins before our temperatures were good enough to be served. The limit is 98 degrees. I understand the safety measures the restaurant is taking, but I also understand that weather plays a huge role in the temp on a hot and sunny day. Aside from the temp checks, try all the rolls and sushi! My fav is the seared salmon. No other ayce makes a seared salmon with this sauce. I order it every time! The sauces are poured individually for you by staff and they have an online menu for contactless. My overall experience is always great. read more

We have been here a handful of times pre-covid and recently visited again. The check-in experience was really simple & organized! You scan a QR code with your phone, sign on to the wait-list, then it redirects you to their menu page while you wait so you can decide what to order. We were seated outdoors since the place is bustling & seats were full inside, and it was a great experience! They currently have 50% on almost their entire menu, and even with the discount, their quality still stands: the rolls are large, delicious, and beautifully plated. The servers here are also friendly and check up on us at the right times - they were PACKED and even then worked very efficiently. I had the shrimp tempura roll ("crunch roll" at some other places) and miso soup, while my bf had the Las Vegas roll, spicy crunch roll, & platinum roll. We were extremely happy with them! Also it's worth noting that I'm really sensitive to the taste of fish (like how cilantro tastes like soap to people, the taste/smell of fish is amplified tenfold for me), so I can't vouch for many rolls. But this is one of the few places where their sushi (at least the tuna & eel) doesn't taste fishy to me. It's so great ha ha. read more

Okay so , I am an avid eater of sushi and visitor of sushi restaurants. Just a few things wrong here. First off, the menu, I can't see what I'm ordering, all it has is the roll name and brief description, I had to go on yelp to see what the roll looked like. The rolls themselves looked good but once trying them- No, I couldn't. I tried to eat and finish them but I couldn't, the taste was not to my liking. I ordered 3 rolls, caterpillar 3/10, la Quinta 1/10, and the seared salmon 1/10. I have yet to meet a sushi restaurant where I didn't like the food, this place did it. Service was pretty fast but I asked for lemonade for my 2 year old and the server brought her some type of lemon soda - my child can't have soda, I only found out once it was opened because the words on the bottle were in Japanese or Chinese. I just didn't like that she chose what drink to give my child when I specifically ordered lemonade. The restaurant appearance is beautiful however, the look of the place was covered in nice wood textures. Walking out and in smelled like sewage, I don't know where that smell is emanating from but it's right when you're outside. Sorry Hoshi, you disappointed. Price does not match quality. read more

Glad this place is located nearby. You'll find it the Fullerton Town Center where Barnes & Noble, Target, and Ross are located. So plenty of parking. The restaurant itself has plenty of space. The staff is attentive and friendly. As for the food, it's eh. I ordered the bento box with 2 sides ( beef teriyaki and a salmon roll). It's a lot of food and comes with miso soup. It's okay. I've had better Japanese food before. FYI, the center is stormed with junior high and high school students. They run wild. WILD, causing havoc in the center. So I feel a little unsafe. They have nice selection for the ayce. Lots to choose from and so far they're all delicious. But they come in small roll (for obvious reason). Just be careful ordering too much; they will charge you about 3% for not finishing, but honestly I think it was still worth it! The sashimi is obviously the best bang for your buck. Nigiri or rainbow roll is nice too if you want to stay pure and clean. The saucy roll is tasty. And stay away from california roll and the such, they'll just make you full. I used to come here all the time and loved the sushi so much yet now, the prices are getting too high for a roll even with the 50% off. Staff is friendly yet not the best at checking in on you. I am impressed each time I come here! The staff are kind and attentive and their rolls are delicious. This is a great spot to come with friends and pig out on sushi. Every time I've come in (later at night) it's been happy hour and the rolls are half off which is a GREAT DEAL. So we were craving sushi and our regular place was closed. So quickly I had to look for another option as we were already thinking sushi! Looked this up on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Called to make sure they had dine in and that it wasn't a long wait (Friday night). First impression, very large space but it felt like a college joint with regular seating and some couch type seating like for big groups to have drink fest. It's mainly rolls so we tried a few rolls which priced between $10-$20/roll. The appetizers and drinks seem higher than usual like about $5 for hot tea. All the rolls were just okay, nothing spectacular and they all taste similar. Like sushi you'd expect at a sushi factory. I guess this use to be an all you can eat but now everything is 50% off (which explains why everything seemed slightly more expensive). So our bill wasn't crazy but we probably won't come back just because we felt this catered more to the college crowd. read more
