There are not many options in downtown Adrian at 11:30 on a Sunday morning. Even fewer options for food and a tv for college basketball. We walked into hooligans at 11:50 our game started at noon. There were 3 other patrons here. The bartender and the cook seemed to be the only emloyees here today and the bartender couldn't see where the channel selector was on the screen from her post behind the bar. She figured it out and we ordered. A burger and a Reuben. I asked for the burger medium, it came well done. The meat smelled. Like it wasn't fresh. I ate half and told the server my concerns. My husband stopped eating his Reuben. He said it wasn't good. In the end after I challenged the bill she took the burger off it. While she was very nice and did what she should we just wouldn't go to this place again. read more

Came for brunch. Everything came out and looked great. The breakfast burger was good, but the potatoes on the plate with the burger and the potato's in the corn beef hash were raw. They said they would remake the potatoes, we waited, had one order instead of two. (Not the end of the world). When the new batch came out, the potatoes were once again for the most part raw. Waitress felt bad, wished she could give a discount for the troubles, but there was no one in charge that could change the bill. But after that...all down hill over 30 minutes to get an appetizer, and over an hour to get our food and when it showed up....it was cold! Disappointing, drinks were the best thing. They didn't have something's on the menu, salmon order was wrong, Cajun shrimp so overcooked it was chewy and fish chips was over cooked with oil saturated fries. Service was not optimal either. read more

2nd trip to this place, and last. 1st trip we sat outside for well over an hr waiting on some appitizers. This trip I had the herb chicken with red potatoes. Chicken was ok at best. Red potatoes looked as if they had been left under a heat lamp for hrs. Also had a side salad with house made dressing, nothing to brag about there either. Friday 7:00pm diner visit... crazy busy. Services was a tad slow but I think we had the only waitress on the floor. Waitress was very nice and apologized for the slowness. I was disgusted when I found a dead fly in my food!! After telling the server, she said sorry the most she can do is take off 20% of the meal NOT the entire bill. She ended up taking off less than $3. I think that is such bad custom service and just so gross to have a dead fly in my food. read more

The $8.99 burger is discounted to $4.99. Server/assistant manger says she quoted a different price that is not half off. Won't get manager, because "she told us it was a $5.00 burger. What a terrible experience. Gruff staff, slow service, and below average food quality. It shouldn't take over an hour and a half to get a hamburger. First time had the planked white fish....excellent meal w/ fresh vegetables and a great pilaf...no bread or peanuts while waiting for food...so I was still hungry when I left. Second time had what I thought was a chicken dish but in reality was mac n cheese w/ a few sparse pieces of chicken..tasty but not what I wanted.....supposed to get a baguette but they were out so the waitress brought out sliced bread -- in her hands-no plate....not cool! The vegies were horrible, vinegary, dark mess...the manager tried it and said yes it was bad....gave us a free cheesecake....w/ frozen strawberries.. A bit understaffed this evening. Environment is fun, live music and lively guest celebrating birthdays and such. Food: beverages were slow to start; however, the bar was very busy with table requests. Side salad came out promptly and the main dish was not timed correctly. Ordered the desert to go. Staff: extremely friendly. Just feel that they would have less stressed if all members of the team showed for work. The bar staff (we I had eaten) where great. I was planning on giving a 5 star review because of our waitress, Shannen, but I subsequently learned that she was fired right after we left. We received the best, friendliest and most considerate service you could ever hope to receive. Shannen transformed what would have been a typical bar meal into a truly amazing experience! I mentioned that I have Lupus because I was having issues with the chair and she was incredibly kind and compassionate. Sadly, I assume that her attentiveness to our table afterwards got her fired. Last time service was incredably horible, gave it a year and half and gave second chance, today there were 4 other people in the resteraunt yet took 45 minutes to get 2 burgers and 2 fish dinners, i didnt order sushi but thats what i got. When i asked about the raw fish she asked if i wanted her to cook it more, sure take this fish that i have ate on and pit it back in your grease? I didnt do that for sanitary reasons! Passing thru, saw the sign on the highway. Nice decor, looks classy. Ordered venison, chef says they're out. 2nd choice was the ribeye. I don't know how you can cook a steak so that it's blue rare on the end and medium well in the middle, but I guess that averages out to medium rare, right? The red potatoes looked like they had been stomped on a dirty floor and scooped onto the plate, and the green beans were just... sad. Only come here if you don't want your kids to eat. I am in town visiting family and unfortunately this is where they brought me. Our server has zero people skills and does not seem to have any training is serving. I ran out of coke I asked for a refill. Did not get one. My food came and I ate half my burger before I walked to the bar and had them refill it. My nephew's food did not come until the rest of us were done eating. Over 1 hour to get my dinner. 2 people in party; I ordered whitefish and the other person ordered pasta. This is the 2nd time (I always give restaurants a second chance) when it took 45 min to get a simple hamburger. This is too bad because the atmosphere is nice! I understand COVID and hard times, but what happened tonight was completely unacceptable. When my mom and I came in we were one of three tables in the entire restaurant. We placed our orders then three more tables came in. One of which were the 2 owners. The rest of us in the restaurant except the owners sitting at the bar and another couple sitting at the bar got their food right away while my mom and I and the table behind us were still waiting on our food. Mind you we only ordered 3 tacos as did the other table behind us that only ordered 4 tacos which was the special today. An hour and a half later our tacos were served as were the tacos for the table behind us and our orders were wrong (we decided to eat them anyway as we already waited 1.5 hours to be served the wrong tacos). My mom did say something about the sauce for her taco as she didn't get that with her taco & when she was served a sauce it was still the wrong sauce so she walked back to the kitchen right passed the owners, who chose to remain oblivious to the entire situation, to get the correct sauce. We informed the waitress who was also the bartender and only server in the restaurant when she asked if our food was ok that our orders were wrong. We explained that even though our orders were wrong that we didn't want to say anything since we already waited over an hour and we just wanted food and a bill at that point. She apologized but did not credit our bill and explained that there was a problem in the kitchen with lack of employees due to people quitting. Well I understand that, but for the owners to sit there and do nothing when there were such situations happening in THEIR OWN restaurant is completely wrong. As owners they should be stepping up to the plate and ensuring proper service in their restaurant. Instead they sat there at the bar enjoying food and drinks while their patrons were getting terrible service. Shame on the owners. I'm a big supporter of small/local business, but this was unacceptable. The owners should be ashamed to let such a thing happen in their restaurant in their presence. Truly unfortunate. read more

A group of our church, the Dwelling Place in Holland Ohio, there was about 20 of us came in to eat last Sunday afternoon. The owner attends our church. We were promptly set up at two large tables in the nicely decorated dining area. The menu was very unique and contained many tempting items. My wife ordered Cedar Plank White Fish and it was delicious. I had a Prime Rib French Dip and it was equally delicious. This bar and grill is a great find and we will be back. Our waitress did a great job with this large party. The only drawback was that they seemed a little under staffed. I highly recommend Hooligans for great food and decor! read more

Pros: food quality, taste and cool menu items, ambiance, decor and friendly service Cons: the last 2 times we were here, the owner had her dog walk through the restaurant - a black Great Dane. - cool dog but dang NOT GOOD for business. I mean come on. It took a bit to get our food HOWEVER that's not always a bad thing because to me that means it's being cooked correctly and from when it's ordered instead of assembly line cooking already prepared food and just heating it up. The service and food quality has come a LONG way over the last few years. I find the complaints on here odd. The thing I will agree on is that whenever we go in we seem to be the only ones in here. Not sure why. (Dog?) It's worth checking out for yourself if you have never been there. read more

I had such high hopes for this place but each time I go back it gets worse. The wine is overpriced for the area. The House is three oaks which I know retails for about 8 bucks a bottle, to charge 8 dollars a glass seems a bit much. My 9 dollar crab cake was burnt and was literally one crab cake on a plate with a to go cup of sauce, no lettuce, no garnish of any kind and to top it off my waiter seemed to have better things to do than to wait on me and was clearly irritated when i asked for a glass of water. Let me preface this review with saying that I was a server for 10 years and I served in both corporate and private restaurants. We were not greeted by anyone at the door and waited about 5 minutes to be seated. After we were seated, I went to the bathroom and told my friend my drink order. When I returned, our drink order had not been taken and we waited about 5 more minutes before our drink order was taken. We waited patiently for our drinks and about 15 minutes later our server came back to tell us that one of the wines we had ordered was not available. Before she left, we ordered our food. That was at 6:37 PM. Our drinks arrived and one hot appetizer arrived shortly after that. 10 minutes later, a cold dip sampler arrived and we ordered another round of drinks and asked for our checks. The drinks took another 10 minutes to arrive. Around 7:25, we still did not have our food so I went to speak with the bartender and then magically, our food arrived. Most of it was cold. I asked to speak with the manager before I paid my bill and when I pointed out that we had waited quite some time and that my food was cold, she said that it was a wrap and that it was supposed to be cold. I then pointed out that my hooli straws were also cold and she rebuttaled with "well, I watched him put them on there." I then pointed out that they were lukewarm at best and she agreed to take the dish off of our bill. We only saw our server about 4 times in an hour and tables that had arrived after us, received their food much earlier than we did. We never received a water refill either. The one shinning moment was the chicken cavattapi, which was great! Rude manager and a slow staff make this restaurant a must miss. read more

This is a nicely decorated place. Unfortunately this is where the good stuff ends. Been there 5 times (giving them a chance to get it together). All but one time the food took forever to get ( sometimes over an hour and not really busy). Sometimes the orders are wrong or missing things. One table of four and me with a seat at the bar but otherwise the early Sunday afternoon was empty. The bartender Missy was friendly and professional. I ordered a salad and wine and both were tasty. The ingredients were fresh and homemade, the first glass of wine was a nice low cost French red, the second a red from a local Lenawee County red and both were good. Overall the wine and beer list was first class. The food menu seemed more like one you'd find in Ann Arbor or Detroit and while the prices were a bit higher that the usual Adrian menu the atmosphere, the service and the ingredients made everything worth it. Hooligans is one of the bright spots in the ongoing revival of downtown Adrian and is worth a visit. read more

My first visit as they recently opened. Rachel the server was very attentive and friendly.Their beers are primarily Michigan breweries which is plus. Ordered the seared white fish with rice pilaf and vegetables. Very tasty though the portion was a little small as I was quite famished. I ended up ordering an appetizer-Sweet potato fries with honey mustard sauce...yumm. Had a great special on couple of their draft beers so ordered the Founder's Porter, 22 oz for only $1! Ambiance is excellent.They put a lot into renovations. It is a big move up from the old Barley house which had poor service and little good food. Will definitely go back. Rachel indicated they are expanding their menu. For now they have a nice selection of chicken, meats, and fish including a salmon salad. One of my big complaints about many restaurants is when you are not even finished with a meal and they drop off the check. It makes me feel very rushed as I came their to relax. The European style is you ask for the check when you know your ready for it.I asked for the check here so was happy in this regards. I had a bad experience with this at the Clinton Inn and spoke to the owner about it. The next time I came in I had to ask for my check!! I hope that Hooligans is successful. This and the Governor Croswell Tea Room are great additions to downtown Adrian. read more

I stopped in for a late lunch on a week day and only a few other people were sitting at the bar. I love the interior design and set up. It has classy and comfortable character. The service was nice and did a good job. My favorite part of Hooligan's is the vegetarian options! My food was super good. I so appreciate a restaurant that puts time into adding quality vegetarian entrees. So awesome. read more

I'd say they are trying hard, but not quite there yet. Our server was very friendly, and the menu looked great. I had some questions about what came in the cheese dip, and even after asking a manager, our server was unable to give me a complete answer. I think it's important for restaurant staff to know a menu, and how their food is made. Not something I was too upset about, but they lost an appetizer sale. My husband got the BLT, and my mom got the pork bbq sandwich, and both were good. I ordered a burger, and asked that it be cooked well done. When I got it, and took my first bite, I noticed the inside was pretty raw. The server was again very friendly, and offered to have another made for me. I like my steak pink, but burgers are a little dangerous that way. She quickly came out with a new burger, which I cut in half to see first. Sure enough, semi-raw again. :( These are thinner patties, so I'm really not sure why the cook couldn't figure out how to cook them properly. They were very nice and removed the charge from our bill. I will give them another try, but I probably won't be ordering a burger. read more

Not 1 refill on drinks. Not one bill accurate. Arrived 1 1/2hr before the show next door at Croswell, almost late. Had the audacity to include an undeserved gratuity. Not a good choice. This was our 2nd time stopping by Hooligans. Their menu features unique, higher quality food choices. My son had Mac and cheese and it was great, lots of flavor to the cheese, not the straight from the box stuff you usually get off a kids menu. His coleslaw was flavorless though, needs some work.. My key west shrimp salad was refreshing and good, my husband really enjoyed his chicken nachos, their grilled chicken was a nice touch. And their beer choices never disappoint, although they are priced higher than most places. read more
