After nearly 3 days of choking down limp iceberg lettuce, Chipotle with no fajita veggies or chicken (yes, they managed to run out of chicken), and soggy pitas, the taste of okay bread and any vegetable other than iceberg lettuce and tomatoes (if you count that as a vegetable) was heavenly. Although Panera probably isn't even worth a stop back in California, we were so deprived of anything resembling a meal that everyone was begging to come back the next day. So if for whatever reason, you find yourself in Adrian, Michigan, here's my advice: don't bother looking for anything good because you'll just be disappointed. Just go to Panera.

This pizza place in the increasingly attractive center of Adrian has evolved into our favorite…read moreoption in town for Italian pie. The specialty pizzas here are terrific. The Best-o-Pesto might be my wife's favorite as it features a pesto base with spinach, feta cheese and tomato. My favorite is the BBQ Chicken, which is certainly not unique to them, but they do it very well. But one that is growing on us is the Sieler Special, which has a white sauce base with goat cheese and honey. This is a unique option which provides a nice change of pace. We've also tried the Greek Pizza with white onion and gyro meat topped with lettuce, tomato, feta cheese, black olives and a side of tzatziki sauce. It tastes great but it does not warm up very well with the lettuce on top. So for me, it's not the best choice if you don't have enough people to eat it all at the first sitting. Dempsey's is also great for sweet treats. Check the front case when you walk in to see what's available that particular day. The cake balls are a favorite as are the roll-ups. We usually do take-out these days when getting food from Dempsey's but that's just by circumstance. We've eaten in also. Their dining area is small but the tables by the big storefront window are particularly nice for eating in, as are the two or three tables on their sidewalk patio in nice weather. My experience is that the service at Dempsey's has always been reasonably good as the people working there are polite and pleasant. The prices are well in line with expectations for the type of fare, making it a very good value in my estimation. The downtown location could, at times, present a small problem with regard to street parking, particularly on theater nights. But there is also a large-ish lot in back of their building off Church St. It is not quite as convenient but it is still very usable. Dempsey's will continue to be our primary go-to place for pizza. It's a great option, we enjoy the fare we get from there and we are happy to support a local business.

The seating area is always exceptionally clean. The kitchen area looks very clean as well. The design of the place is very sleek and contemporary. If there is a line it moves very quick and there is plenty of room to stand and not feel crowded by seating. My sub was prepared and ready even prior to me getting my credit card receipt. They definitely live up to the Freaky Fast. All the employees seem to take pride in restaurant in keeping it clean and making the customers happy. This particular Jimmy Johns seems very prom and proper which gives you a good feeling eating here. I have never visited any other JJ's to compare. The sub I ordered came out as expected and to order. The new General Manager was hired on 03/01/22 (approximately) and the first action that she and the owner took was to dismiss the ENTIRE existing staff and rehire new people. The goal is to revitalize this restaurant and she seems to be very positive and forward-looking to the future. The food was quite good (my wife and I had seafood), fresh, and served at exactly the right temperature in a very timely manner. It was 1/2 off bottles of wine that night and the selection, although small, was adequate for the primarily beer/mixed drink establishment. There was also live music, a duo comprised of a violinist and a guitar. It worked for the most part. At least I can honestly say that the music complimented our meal and didn't overwhelm our experience. There were a few "bugs," but this is to be expected with a new staff. We plan to be back soon. The draft beers were the coldest I've ever seen and felt served! The PBR was perfect from the draft. They have a pizza buffet with a handful of pizzas, salad bar and dessert. The pizza was replaced promptly and the flavors were really good. The cinnamon bread sticks were buttery and delicious I'd totally stop in here again and highly recommend.
