Decent place for sure. We did pickup on a Wednesday night . Here's what we recommend (and don't recommend) based on our experience. Ordering online was painless. Tip, payment, pickup all went smoothly. 1) crab bisque - delicious 2) boom boom shrimp - a bit salty but still delicious 3) wings - not good. The sauce was not "sticky" and the chicken somehow had no flavor. A bit of marination would do a world of good. 4) roasted chicken. $26. 1/4 of bland chicken. I think it was supposed to be half? But I'm glad it wasn't because it was a complete miss. 5) salmon with risotto. The balsamic glaze was missing from the salmon but it was still good. 6) kids meal - Mac and cheese. It was Kraft Mac and cheese. $9. Came with nothing else. 7) kids meal - chicken tenders. Again. Chicken had no flavor. But at least it came with fries. 8) bread pudding. Decent. A bit more sugar and vanilla would make it outstanding. 9) key lime. Pie I think it was? Maybe it was a bar? Very good. Total with tip $160. I rated this place a 3 (decent) because it really was decent and I am thankful they were open during off-season. But I was left unsatisfied as the flavors just weren't there. I'm pretty sure the kids will ask for cereal before bed. read more

We were a pretty big crowd - 5 adults and 5 kids (two of which were very fussy) when we walked in but were seated right away because we called ahead to make sure there was no waiting time. The restaurant has a very eclectic relaxed beach vibe going which we were digging. Our server was very friendly and provided the kids with drawing essentials right away to keep them occupied. We ordered the crab bisque and the boom boom shrimp as appetizers. These two dishes were also the highlight of the entire meal; the crab bisque being sweet, creamy and filled with crab meat and the boom boom shrimp were mildly spicy and perfectly battered (also a very close relative to the bang bang shrimp from Bonefish grill which are a crowd pleaser in their own rite). The rest of the meal was a hit or a miss depending on what you ordered: Fish tacos: The tacos were missing an essential sauce which could have bound the taste together and made it more exciting. Crispy atlantic salmon: The fennel citrus salad was the perfect side to this healthy but filling dish. Ordered by my cousin but i stole a few bites and was not disappoinged. Nashville Hot chicken: As big as this chicken was, the disappointing look on my cousin's face matched the size lol sorry but this did not make the cut and was returned promptly for more boom boom shrimp. Cheeseburger: Just your average run of the mill burger but which proved to be satisfactory to both the parties that ordered it and was also HUGE! The kids happily chomped on the left over fries. Mac and cheese for the kids: The mac and cheese looked like the kraft kind but somehow the kids really liked it. Corn on the side for kids: Bland and you should skip it! read more

Found this restaurant on Yelp while traveling in Ocean City. The Happy Hour on Thursdays is half off Entrees which was awesome. I had the Crab Bisque and the Wings and they were fabulous!! I choose the Crusted Mahi for my main dish and it was so so. The Bisque and the Wings were for sure the stars of my meal. The Waitress was knowledgeable and very friendly. read more

As always, great food and drinks from Hooked. We went on a busy night (White Marlin) and had to wait at the bar for about 15 minutes. The entire menu looked so good, we wanted to make another visit just to try some other dishes. It seems like they have expanded also, lots more room and outdoor seating available. Go, you will not be disappointed. read more

Was terrific for our first visit. Two couples really enjoyed our lunch. Waiter was amazing as he was the only person waiting bar and tables. He's a rockstar! Can't wait to return! Great place!! read more

We had to try some seafood while we stayed in Ocean City. Our research lead us to Hooked. Thank you to the Yelp community. We stopped in mid-afternoon and were quickly seated. Our eyes first went to the oysters. They had a selection of four types. Our waiter, who we actually found out later was the oyster expert, made some good suggestions. After we placed our order the manager stopped by to talk. It was slower in the afternoon so we all chatted for a few minutes. He suggested that we try the bisque as we did not initially order it. We only ordered appetizers. The bisque came out and it was super delicious. It was smooth and had a sweetness that was unexpected and elevated the overall taste. Next came the other dishes. The oysters we super good they came with a lemon and cocktail sauce all served over a bed of ice. It was helpful that the menu has the type of flavor profile by each type of oyster. Both were delicious. The boom boom shrimp and the calamari were both lightly breaded and has a spicy sauce on them. Both were equally good. The portions were a good size for sharing among the three of us. Lastly, I had the tacos. They were served on a soft flour shell that had be lightly grilled. The piece of fish was large enough that I needed two hands to start eating it. Like the shrimp there was a spicy sauce in the taco. The slaw in the taco was not dressed but provided a good crunch. We will be here all week and plan to stop back again! read more

Crab cakes were the best we had during our stay. Tuna poke bowl was flavorful. Kids had chicken fingers and Mac and cheese.

I honestly loved this place. Although I was not local I definitely thought that American style restaurant like this should be in that area more. Unlike other traditional American restaurants, this restaurant was neat and modern. Moreover, their service is great. Last but not least, their soft baguette is just AMAZING. I loved their peach sangria with rosé. Hope it becomes a part of their drink menu. LOVED IT read more

Pretty small place but what great service and food. Really thoughtfully done interior that even the dishes seem to match.. very welcoming and comfortable , not overly noisy. Wife and daughter both want to return tomorrow. Daughter lobster carbonara was in her works best dish of her life.. Wife has a special seafood cioppino that was full of mussels, clams, scallops, shrimp and fish that was attentive bargain at$15. I had a fresh made Caesar with the bang bang shrimp which was as good as I have had and I have hundreds to compare too. Service was excellent and also try the house made hot sauce as it was so good the wife had to have a bootle and she doesn't normally eat hot sauce. Goes on my list of places to definitely return if back in the area. One word of advice some dishes you see on yelp may not be available as they seem to change menu .. but you won't be disappointed . read more

Great food and service. Crab cakes were very good.. all crab! Calamari was excellent. Sauce on calamari was so good we bought a bottle to take home. It's a very busy location. Update: Came back for dinner on our last night in OC and food and service were excellent just like the first time. This time I ordered the crispy Salmon and it was delicious! The salad that is served with the salmon was perfect! Husband and older son had the lobster Mac with no veggies again and they both agreed it was outstanding. Younger son had the kids chicken tenders and fries and was very happy. Hooked will definitely be a place we return to when back in OC! read more

We came here specifically because of the yelp reviews. We saw that the manager/owner actually took the time to answer 99% of reviews -- we took that to be a good sign that this place actually cares about its patrons....because every other restaurant we've been to so far hasn't. First impressions -- place is adorable. Not a walk-in-off-the-beach place. Casual yet elevated. Our waitress is SO NICE. Which apparently isn't a requirement for most service industry professionals in OC. She gave us the run-down on specials and recommendations. We ordered in a timely manner. Started with the calamari which was excellent. The sauce is a little spicy so be wary if you can't handle heat. My brother and I ordered the scallops. Excellent!! The grits weren't overly cheesy. The scallops were seared to perfection. My mom ordered the hot chicken because she's not a seafood person...she's also very picky. She said the chicken was juicy but wasn't very flavorful. But the beans and Mac and cheese served with it were good (but that the Mac and cheese was a little too flour-y and not as cheesy). For dessert we ordered key lime pie was amazing. Creamy and tangy. Everything came to $105 -- reasonably priced in comparison to the horrible and overpriced buffets in the area. I wish we had come here sooner!! read more

Food was very fresh. Halibut was delicious. But, the menu is extremely limited. Service was solid. Just seemed like a meal vs. dining out.

Ok ya'll. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Hooked! From the food, to décor, to service, it is an all around 5 stars. I had the shrimp salad sandwich with fries and my gosh, I can still remember how wonderful it tasted! The serving size was also huge and the prices were average. My bf had the lobster mac and cheese, also a huge hit. They have outdoor seating AND an outdoor bar! #WINNING! I will be back once I return to O.C. this summer. Thanks Hooked! read more

Recommended by yelp review. Calamari & fried oyster appetizers were very good. The neon light above our table was so dusty, any breeze blew small chunks of dust around. I had day boat scallops and my hubby had Mahi Mahi. Scallops were good but a little too much sand inside. Also, under the scallops had pork and grits that had some sort of sour sauce. Maybe overseasoning? I didn't expect or enjoy it, so my hubby ate it & liked it. Mahi Mahi was overcooked, hard to chew. Food wasn't as good as Yelp reviews said. The service was very good. read more

WOW. I have never in my life had a meal I wanted to just close my eyes and savor so much. Everything was AMAZING. My boyfriend & I are foodies and we have big appetites, so we decided on drinks & two apps to start with. We both enjoyed the strawberry-peach sangria, crab dip & boom boom shrimp. For dinner, he got the Nashville hot chicken & I got the pan-seared scallops. Was so excited to try this restaurant out while on vacation and it lived up to its hype! We had the special which was $25 for 1/2 appetizer, entree, and dessert. We had the calamari and crab bisque for appetizers which were delicious. (The best calamari I've ever had). I had the shrimp and grits.. Ugh I wish I could have it again. I'm very particular about shrimp and grits but they did a phenomenal job! For dessert I had the dark chocolate fudge with coffee ice cream. It was the best way to end the dinner. Service was good, but the food was excellent. Definitely worth the drive. We would definitely make a trip back next year.

My wife and I love to try new places so last night for our date night we decided to give Hooked a try. Checked reviews on Google and they were all great. I was particularly impressed by the comments about the staff. Before their dinner rush, I decided to call ahead to get some more information on possible wait times and reservations. I can't remember who I spoke to but he was very short and abrupt almost as if I was an inconvenience. We arrived around 5:45 pm to nearly full dining room. The place looked amazing. Well put together, great decor, and a great atmosphere. Also very clean. After encountering two employees at the hostess stand and being seated, we were finally greeted by our waitress (who happened to be the first friendly face of the evening). We ordered our drinks, Cathead and a Burnt Old Fashioned, which were both great. Our food came out soon after our drinks. My wife ordered the Hooked Tacos and I ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese. Both dishes were portioned very well however, they both could have used some seasoning. Otherwise the food was very good. Because of the service (except our waitress) it will probably be a while before we ever come here again. I don't tend to return to places were I initially feel like I'm not welcome, no matter how good the food is. read more

We came here over the Easter weekend. We drove into OC Friday evening and we quickly looked up places to eat on Yelp. Hooked was #2, and it was on our way so we stopped by. I had called ahead to see if I could put my name down, and as she was spelling my name, someone in the background told her 'we don't do that'. That's fine if it is the restaurant's policy, but the staff needs to be informed and and everyone needs to be in the know. Once we get there, I put my name down for a table of two. The two young ladies at the hostess table were not very pleasant. Very short and slightly rude. I watched them interact with other patrons and they were very kind. Hopefully, it wasn't any form of discrimination. We were seated upstairs after a short wait. Our server was very kind and very informative. We shared the crab dip and a cup of the crab soup. The crab soup was suppose to have a small kick to it because of the jalepenos but there was no kick at all. The crab chunks were also very small. The dip was good and came with a very large warm loaf of bread. For our entrees, we had the fish and chips (but they were fried cauliflower, not potatoes). The dipping sauce is not your regular tartar sauce and was very tasty! The coleslaw that it came with had either apples or pear slices, and was very delicious. We also ordered the shrimp and grits, and when it came we were both shocked at how much liquid was in the bowl. It almost looked like shrimp and soup. Luckily, the grits was very very tasty and well cooked. For dessert, we shared a slice of key lime pie, delish! There's limited parking out front, but definitely parking in the back. The ground floor has limited seating as it has a bar in the centre, but upstairs has lots of seating. read more

I love the look of this place! So cute and Instagram worthy. On the smaller side but great. Bar table chairs were super comfy which is the best. We only went for appetizers and it was good. The calamari is amazing! Great crisp, great flavor, great sauce. We also had the wings which weren't a huge hit. We tasted the fish tacos and they had a great kick and the pickled onions cooked it down. Super good. We had a few drinks. My basil lemonade was good and refreshing. Overall a great experience with great service. I would go back for the calamari for sure and to actually have dinner!!!!! read more

This is a great dinner spot in Ocean City! I liked the fact that the menu had 'beat up' choices of crab cakes and seafood but I also liked that they had different options that seemed more 'modern'.
