Neat little dive bar off the beaten path. I brought my marugame udon tempura take out and had two beers and a couple shots. It's welcoming and not a bad place to have a couple drinks as a pit stop off the busy street. Would def recommend coming here.

5,000,000 Stars - Jeff the Divine Pourer of Honolulu Tavern If Zeus stepped down from Olympus, traded in his lightning bolt for a cocktail shaker, and opened a dive bar in Honolulu, he would still fall short of the sheer majesty that is Jeff the Bartender. I walked into Honolulu Tavern expecting a beer and maybe a game of pool. I walked out a changed human being, spiritually reborn through the transcendent wizardry of Jeff's drink-making abilities. The man didn't just pour me a Mai Tai -- he summoned it from another dimension using ancient Polynesian incantations and possibly a portal beneath the bar. Jeff doesn't make drinks. He crafts liquid experiences. I ordered a Jack and Coke. He gave me an elixir so powerful I briefly remembered all my past lives and cried openly at the bar. Jeff handed me a napkin without breaking eye contact. "Let it out," he said, in a voice smoother than the whiskey he poured. He flips bottles like he's auditioning for a Cirque du Soleil fire show. He garnishes with flair, zest, and possibly dark sorcery. He doesn't just serve drinks -- he blesses them. At one point, someone tried to order a vodka cranberry. Jeff leaned in and whispered, "I can do better." Moments later, he slid a drink across the bar that tasted like a sunset riding a unicorn across Waikiki Beach. Also -- and I cannot stress this enough -- Jeff remembered everyone's name, their favorite drink, and gave unsolicited but eerily accurate life advice. One sip of his signature cocktail and my taxes filed themselves, my skin cleared, and I received a text from my ex apologizing for everything. In conclusion: Jeff is not a bartender. He is a mixological prophet. A liquid shaman. A cocktail demigod. If you die before experiencing a drink from Jeff, you've wasted your one precious life. Mahalo, Jeff. Mahalo for EVERYTHING

If you're looking for a dive bar - look no further! Our bartender was awesome - and gave me a hot dog with my beer -- no extra charge! :-) Don't come here looking for umbrellas in your drinks - or anything fancy really. Come to hang w some locals and get relatively inexpensive booze...

Honolulu Tavern is a small dive bar in the Waikiki area near the International Market Place mall. It's in the same building the Hawaiian King hotel and is known to be one of the last dive bars in the Waikiki area surrounded by expensive hotel bars. The front of the bar contained mostly bar counter seating with a couple tables but if you go to the back where the restrooms were, there was a lot more space and tables. The well drinks were about $4 each and they sold Hawaiian ice teas for $7 which were sweet from all the pineapple juice. It was a chill hole-in-the-wall spot and my bartender Vivian was super cool!

This is quite possibly the greatest Dive Bar on planet earth! Such an eclectic mix of locals and longtime mainlander transplants. It's a real taste of gritty, no frills, no bs Honolulu. Bar staff are amazing, friendly and full of great stories.

Would you like to meet friendly locals and get drunk for little money? This is THE PLACE! Bonus if John is your bartender

Honolulu Tavern delight.

I LOVE this dive bar in Honolulu. I'm a bit of a margarita snob, and just had one of the most delightful house margaritas I've had in years. Not some premixed bland bottled version, but a hand-made true margarita. Great service, great atmosphere, great drinks. I highly recommend visiting this wonderful hole-in-the-wall gem in Waikiki.

This is a great hole in the wall bar. Due to the pandemic restrictions (I assume) you have to wait to be seated. We were instantly greeted by the bartender who found us a place to sit. Our orders were taken and beers arrived quickly. Afterwards I requested a "give me what you got" and Geddy was game. He first brought me a bourbon and ginger ale which was delicious then brought me a 007. The entire time he was so friendly. Elizabeth was also super friendly Would highly recommend this bar. In addition, the decor gave us beachy vibes all the way

I called to make reservations after work at 5:30 PM and the host was great, she let me know that parking is free for 2-hours at the Bank of Hawaii building with validation, and that they are still working on their liquor license so its BYOB with a $10 corkage fee per person drinking in the party. From the street front, its kind of hard to tell where the restaurant is. I didn't notice the sign until standing literally right in front of it. (on Beachwalk, makai of Hard Rock) When you enter, theres a sign to meet the host upstairs. We asked to sit on the patio because it was such a nice evening. At the time, there were lots of available table. But once the sun went down it became pretty lively in the main dining room. Pila was our sever, he was fantastic! Give him a raise! Between the 4 of us, we ordered 2 mains, the OG fried rice that you can never go without, and a salad because we are so well balanced. OMG SO MUCH FOOD! We did end up needing take out boxes for the rice and chicken. Honestly, I probably could have finished it off if i wasn't drinking, because it was DELCIOUS AF *drool*. Pro tip: ask for extra garlic sauce to go with the chicken. Ugh, I'm craving more kalbi as I write this review. 10/10 recommend our exact order, server and seating.

Side Street Inn is one of those places we absolutely love returning to! Fantastic local food, enormous family-style portions, a relaxed atmosphere, and wonderful hospitality. Come hungry, bring friends, and prepare to take home leftovers! The Details: Another excellent dinner at Side Street Inn's original location near Ala Moana! If you're looking for authentic local-style Hawaiian comfort food, this place is an absolute gem! Forget fancy white tablecloths and elaborate presentations. This is where local families and groups of friends gather around tables overflowing with delicious food, share stories, laugh, and enjoy each other's company. That's precisely what makes it special! My wife and I stopped in tonight knowing full well we'd be hopelessly outnumbered by the sheer quantity of food we'd order. But that was intentional! We love their food, and the leftovers reheat beautifully. Dinner tonight, lunch tomorrow! What's not to love? Tonight's lineup included three fantastic dishes: 1. Hawaiian Pan-Fried Pork Chops: A mountain of beautifully seasoned, golden-brown pork chops, fried to perfection and piled high on a platter. Old-school local comfort food at its finest! 2. Sizzling Boneless Kalbi Short Ribs: Tender, flavorful Korean-style marinated short ribs arriving on a sizzling cast-iron platter with kimchi. The aroma alone makes your mouth water! Absolutely delicious! 3. Lup Cheong Fried Rice: Oh, my goodness! Their signature fried rice is already fantastic, but adding sweet and savory Chinese sausage takes it to another level! Loaded with char siu, Portuguese sausage, bacon, vegetables, and lup cheong, this enormous platter is practically a meal unto itself. And when I say enormous, I mean ENORMOUS! As wonderful as the food was, I especially want to recognize our server, Celeste What an absolute delight! We learned she's also a high school teacher, and her personality was every bit as memorable as our meal. Vibrant, energetic, full of spunk, and blessed with a terrific sense of humor, she kept us laughing throughout dinner. We got along famously! And I made her groan more than once as she endured my dad jokes...! Celeste checked on us frequently without being intrusive, making sure we had everything we needed. Drinks, napkins, dipping sauces, you name it! That kind of attentive, personable service turns a great dinner into a memorable evening. Celeste, thank you for taking such wonderful care of us! You were spectacular! One thing worth emphasizing is that Side Street Inn is best enjoyed family-style. Look around and you'll see large families and groups of friends sharing some of Oahu's finest local cuisine. My advice? Bring a group, order several dishes, put everything in the middle of the table, and dig in! If you're dining as a couple like we did, embrace the inevitable leftovers. Trust me, you won't regret it! Side Street Inn remains one of our favorite places to eat on Oahu. Outstanding local food, enormous portions, wonderful people, and an atmosphere that captures the spirit of gathering around a table with family and friends. We'll absolutely be back! Mahalo, Side Street Inn, and a special mahalo to Celeste for another terrific evening!

Some things never change ! #yelpfriends #sidestreetinn…read more#oldies You can't go to side Street Inn and not have their original pork chops and fried rice Each bite of my food reminded me of chef Colin, who is no longer with us, but looking down on us watching us enjoy his iconic creations Some things never change and that is the portions are huge enough to feed four people The ambience is your local dive bar, loud, people talking over each other One thing that has changed though I noticed is your limited to the amount of time you can sit at your table. I wonder? Will they boot you off? Been going to side Street Inn since it was only one single side street inn and chef Colin was in the kitchen on the table at the dishwashing station, he did everything. Today, you have different people doing different things and the staff on the floor? Well, they know they have a good thing going.
