Finally got my tax refund! Decided to treat myself after a month of cooking at home and eating oatmeal : ) Hands down best Gochujang bowl. I've tried many in the past but always came back to Honolulu Sushi's. More expensive than some others but good fish! The gochujang sauce is also the best! Talk about fresh sushi! I love the giant cuts of fish on the nigiri and the delicious rolls. I tried the unagi roll and the spicy ahi roll. We also had the nigiri set #2 and my hubby and I were stuffed. It all comes with salad and miso soup for each person. We talked to the owners about how they go to the fish market, and how they just opened a new location at Dole (there is also one in Ala Moana food court)! I love the music (opera - kinda random) and natural wood benches. Photos of the sushi really help you to decide what you want. I got a dynamite roll which was $9 but huge! The tempura shrimp was so perfectly crispy in the sushi and made it absolutely delicious. I also got the poke bowl which was definitely a lot larger than I had thought. Very good deal for $8 and you get sushi rice (free with bowl) or brown rice ($1 more). All orders also come with the choice to make it a "set" for $2 more which includes salad and miso soup side. They also have bento sets with varying options in combination with a set of 4 classic nigiri. The waitress even gave us a miso soup to try for free which was very nice of her. Although a little pricey, would recommend this place when buying a platter for a potluck/party. I like Honolulu Sushi because you can customize your platters. Portion sizes are pretty good. One in a half rolls will fill u. For a child half roll is good. Drinks are by the bottle or can. It's kind of like a take out place with seats. If u eat in you get complimentary miso soup which is pretty good. Small place with 2 workers that are extremely friendly and hustles, between orders and making sushi. Sushi itself if fresh. Dynamite was the best we ordered. Shrimp was nice and crispy. Energy roll had plenty of unagi just how I like it. Honolulu could use a little more Ahi as not each piece had fish but it was a good combination for those that don't like too much fish. We also ordered a spicy ahi which I felt we got more ahi with the dynamite. If I had to do it again dynamite and energy are definitely go to orders. We browsed sushi places for lunch and figured it would be hard to go wrong in Hawaii. I am a big sushi fan and I got the California roll, which I admit is a bit of a rookie order (it was hot and I wanted something light and hard to screw up from a delivery standpoint). We ordered to our hotel and in short, I would NOT recommend. My roll was legit 75-80% white rice with minimal filling. They also forgot the wasabi, which is pretty ridiculous. I will admit this place appeared significantly cheaper than other options, which was what attracted us to it. Get what you pay for I guess. Anyway, we hit a few other sushi places that I've also reviewed. They were great so would highly recommend taking your business elsewhere. read more

I found out the lady that answered was actually the owner and she right away was apologizing and was willing to make another order for me. Unfortunately I could not pick it up due to the fact that I informed that lady that I am at work and can't leave that is the reason I ordered from door dash. Her husband ended up delivering me a new order of my upon noodles and the dashi separately even though he had a difficult time finding where I was he eventually did. And on the second trip, we were also given a nice green salad, which was a welcome addition to the meal. Prices were surprisingly reasonable, and the food quality was decent. Parking in their lot is free, but there isn't a lot of it. Service was welcoming and efficient. Bottom line: I plan on eating here again. I felt like having some sushi and I come across this little place next to Teapresso. I stepped in and I was like, "Where am I..." It's like you're in a whole different world. The decor, the walls, the vibe, it's kinda rustic; you'll either like it or love it but I didn't mind. Am I tripping? Not sure if there was an owner change here but the food is just not up to the standards. I remember I had a good experience here before. Not much taste to the Seafood, also it was hot inside when I walked in. I think someone asked and the cashier finally turned on the AC. The portion size is good only if you like a lot of rice. The amount of rice they use is overwhelmed. I literally left half of the rice there on my roll. No brown rice option. Friendly cashier in the front but not enough for me to give it 3 stars. Honolulu Sushi is a hidden gem. I know it's been around for some time, but the boyfriend and I finally had the chance to check it out recently for dinner. This little sushi spot is in the same plaza as Like Like Drive-Inn. I didn't know that beforehand, so we drove around Keeaumoku twice before we actually realized it was in the plaza. Since street parking can be hard to find around that area, I was glad that the restaurant itself was in the plaza and a few stalls were available during the time of our visit! For some time, we were the only customers in the store. It was a simple restaurant with about four tables for seating; it's probably ideal to order take-out from this place, but since it was empty, we enjoyed a leisurely dinner. There's lots to choose from on the menu, too - great assortment of bento, bowls and hand rolls. The bentos/bowls are made to order, so once we ordered (be sure to get a stamp card), we waited for a few minutes. Our miso soup and salad were brought out on trays immediately, and our meals followed shortly after. You can't beat the price at this place. We left satisfied--we were starving beforehand--with just enough room in our bellies for dessert. Great hidden gem on Koreamoku! Here's what we got: "Spicy Ahi Nigiri Bento": I was craving spicy ahi, and this bento was one of the more expensive items on the menu ($12.42). Yet, I loved the variety that it had. There were four pieces of the spicy ahi nigiri; three pieces of a California roll-type roll (but filled with spicy ahi), and six small maki pieces ... all stuffed with spicy ahi. The ahi tasted fresh and I loved the slightly spicy aioli that was drizzled on top. Each meal comes with miso soup and salad; water is a la carte, but the auntie who runs the store was really nice and comp-ed our waters. "Crunch Bowl": The boyfriend was hungry, so he went for one of the bowl options. The "Crunch Bowl" came with spicy ahi over a mound of rice, but it was also topped liberally with tempura flakes for that extra crunch. Even though the sauces were drizzled all over, I liked how the tempura flakes definitely retained their crunch (they weren't soggy). The portion size of spicy ahi was decent, too. I'd definitely get this if I were hungry; there's a generous mound of rice under the ahi. "Dynamite Roll": Honolulu Sushi features a great selection of maki rolls and hand rolls, and I want to try one during my next visit. The one I had my eye on was the "Dynamite" roll, which consists of shrimp tempura, cucumber and spicy ahi. Got teapresso next door and figured I'll give this place a try since I was hungry. Turned out to be a great idea since prices were good and the food was tasty. Ordered the unagi bento and dynamite roll, the unagi is definitely some of the best I've had on par or above $$$ restaurants (I do wish they were more generous with it though) I would say don't come here expecting extremely fine crafted sushi made by Chef Nobu himself or whatever- this is a spot for good, fast, and affordable sushi that will satisfy your cravings at a 1/3 of the price. I ordered the gyoza and the spicy ahi bowl, as they were both really popular options here on both yelp reviews and on the DoorDash menu. I figured who not give it a shot. We had great anticipation that it would be a good feast with all the high ratings we read. But we were not so lucky. The small salad served pre-sushi had Italian dressing! The energy roll had eel skin instead of eel meat in the first bite. (We actually sent that roll back for a refund.) What a hidden gem I wish I could share with everyone! I love ahi so much and noticed that I have to make a trip to get my sushi or parking is difficult. I've had this place as my bookmark for several months and have finally got to try it! I was so excited because the reviews were all consistent and I recently saw that they were featured on KITV with the fabulous Emi Hart! That means only great things. Located on Keeamoku street, this restaurant is in the lot with Like Like Drive Inn, Tony Moly, Teaspresso, and the old morning glory! If you see Teaspresso Bar, they are the restaurant next to it. Don't be deceived by how it looks, it is a place worth visiting! I was anticipating for the space to be small but when you step into the restaurant, the area is nice and cozy! There are big tables kind of like having poke at a picnic table.. inside! lol There is a huge menu on both sides of the restaurant. I am a visual person, so I appreciated that they had pictures. I am THAT person who has to open the Yelp app to look up pictures, but this is one of the rare instances I used the menu. I was so happy I took a picture below!! The aunty behind the cashier was so kind and was patient while my friends and I debated what to get. I was in a spicy ahi mood so I ordered the spicy ahi nigiri bento ($12.42). My other two friends also got the spicy ahi nigiri bento and a dynamite roll. Normally the sets come with miso soup, but Aunty was so nice and gave all of us complimentary miso soup!! :) We had to wait about 10 minutes for our food, but no problem because when it came out it was perfect! There are also other aunties in the back preparing the food. I'm glad to know that the fish is freshly prepared. I was hungry, but was shy to stuff the spicy ahi into my mouth but once I did I couldn't help but stuff my mouth (literally)!! With my spicy ahi nigiri bento, I got 4 spicy ahi nigiris, 4 pieces spicy ahi uramaki, and 6 pieces of ahi maki. of The mixture of the spicy ahi was perfect! It has a spicy kick to it, which got to me and my friends but that was what made it so good! The fish melts in my mouth. I'm salivating as I am writing this.. I am not one to order rolls because they of size but omg the sizes here are HUGE! My friends shared the bento and the roll and it was the best choice! The shrimp tempura in the center look huge and there was a generous amount of rice around the shrimp while topped with beautifully colored spicy ahi. I was so jealous! The portions are HUGE. I ordered 3 rolls for myself and couldn't get even close to finishing. Much bigger than I expected. Fair prices, easy parking. Everything is made to order by 2 aunties. My order was the salmon nigiri, which came with tuna roll, a green salad and miso soup. The seaweed on the roll was the correct texture and the rice was perfect in flavor and texture. The fish was fresh and flavorful. It came with a roll that I'm thinking was maybe a California roll. I don't know, but it was tasty as well. I ordered doordash and honestly it was super underwhelming. The fish tasted weird, like it had been washed with a weird cleaner. I've bought better sashimi from Costco. The fish to rice portioning was okay, but my biggest complaint was that their doordash menu has zero pictures So when I ordered vegetable tempura, I expected what Ive gotten from countless other restaurants A piece of sweet potato, zucchini or just a solid piece put in tempura batter and fried.
