Came here for my birthday lunch. I ordered Chicken Chow Mein! It was so gross! The chicken was boiled and had been flattened with a Mallet! The chicken had the markings still on them. There was a gelatinous gravy over it and sweet carrots which gave the dish a very sweet flavor. Worst Chicken Chow Mein I've ever had. I couldn't eat it and because i was with a friend i didn't want to embarrass her by sending it back. This was my 2nd visit here after horrible food 2, years ago. Nothing has changed! Combo that also included Egg Drop Soup. Absolutely delicious food and service here. I ordered the 3 item Combo and was able to eat about half. The sweet and sour port was tender, the BBQ pork moist and the chow mein pretty good. This is the restaurant I have been seeking here. Absolutely unforgivable. Pork chow mien consisted of 4 slices of celery and a can of bean sprouts in a corn starch glop. No flavor, no veggies, no pork, inedible. The carpet is threadbare and filthy, ambience is nil, this cook needs to read a Chinese cookbook! I've never seen a mess like that called chow mien. Shameful. read more

This is a great spot for Chinese in the greys harbor area . It's a bit hidden because it is tucked away in the small town of cosmopolis but it one of the better Chinese places . Our family ordered sweet and sour chicken , sesame chicken(spicy), general Tso (spicy) , egg rolls and crab puffs . Our total was only $60 so very nicely priced especially for the portions! The egg rolls are very unique they are dipped into a batter and fried they are good but very little pork was inside them. The only complaint is the chicken was a bit over cooked and dry but everything had great flavor ! Our order took an hour to prepare for a pick up order . They are very understaffed and completely packed with inside customers ( well COVID standards packed) All in all pretty good food for the area and very friendly just super busy read more

This was our first time to the Hong Kong Restaurant after hearing so much about it from a friend. To say the least we were Not disappointed!! The food was amazing as was the staff. The flavor you would expect from a small town establishment. I hardly ever see Lemon Chicken on the menu...but theirs was to die for! Go try it! read more

I stopped in today for the second time to try some of Asian/Chinese food that the Hong Kong Restaurant offers and was very happy for the second time. I got an order of Mongolian Beef, Curry Chicken and Curry Beef all at the medium spice level. (They have three levels here, Mild, Medium and Very Spicy) The Curry was some of the best I have ever had at an Asian restaurant and I have had lots over the years and quite honestly most don't do a very good job as what they serve is more of an Indian type of curry that tastes quite different. Not here though. It is bright yellow, creamy smooth, a little sweet and spicy in a good way that Asian Curry can be. I recommend either the Curry Beef or Chicken highly if you are a Curry fan. The other dish I had was Mongolian Beef and it was very good as well and they use some of the most tender beef in both of the beef dishes I had that I have ever had at Asian Eatery. One other thing that I had that is just 5 star good both of the times I have had it is the Egg Flower Soup. Very tasty, seasoned very well and tastes just about good as you can get. I would give this place 4 1/2 stars if I could as the only thing I have was not 100% positive on is the kind of rice they serve with your meal as it's long grain and very loose and dry, (good for making fried rice), and not a shorter grain rice that is moist, tender and sticky. If the rice was right to me, I would gladly give them 5 stars. I have attached pictures of all 3 menu items I had along with current copies of the To Go Menu, Pages 1&2. If you are in the Grays Harbor area anywhere near Aberdeen, drive a couple miles south to Cosmopolis and have a good meal at Hong Kong Restaurant. read more

Every New Years, since I was a kid, we have eaten Chinese cuisine. This year was no different. Mind you it's pandemic time so we placed order to go. Not too bad of wait, 30 minutes, the parking lot was full. This are not serving guest, pick up only. Got our food and went home to enjoy, AAAAND we did. Everything was fresh. We ordered apps, choice our 3 favs, and their Hong Kong special. Omg so good. S&S pork was tender. Not a fan of the fried rice, but their egg rolls were huge and very good. They changed the recipe since I last tried one. Good job!!! The lady that brought us out our food was very friendly and happy. So glad we went here for our tradition. read more

The first time I ordered from here it was around $100 (feeding 8 people) and I thought the food was absolutely amazing. It was a decent amount of food for what we paid and everyone ate it and loved. We tried this place after seeing it on Yelp. They are following covid precautions. A friendly waitress greeted me in the entry way and gave me a paper menu to review. She answered questions I had. Our favorite dish was a Stir Fry Hong Kong noodles, yum. We got the egg rolls based on recommendations but they were just okay (too greasy for me personally). BBQ pork was good. Overall we were happy with the food. They have less fresh vegetable options. Cashew chicken had peas and carrots from a frozen mix, stir fry dish veggies were fresh. Waitress was very good, provided everything we needed (forks, chopsticks, etc) and brought everything out to the car when it was ready. I would recommend checking it out. read more

I lived in Montasano in 2009/2010 and went to this place at least one or twice a month it WAS yummy food. Today we stopped in there for dinner. There wasn't to many cars in the parking lot so okay no problem...... The waitress sat us down and waiting for our waitress. We ordered our drinks, I don't do tea so I had coffee, then we ordered dinner you know the great order what you want to make your plate. We did get the egg flower soup. By the way finished my coffee and some more people came in and sat just behind and to the right of us so our waitress will be walking by us lots of time. She didn't not ONCE ask if we needed anything . She brought our food to us and off she went. No "do you need anything?" Just turn her back and asked the other table if everything was okay and walked right passed us and off she went. When our food was brought to us she had no time to ask us about anything and off she went. My Sumgum was so salty I couldn't eat it the Almond chicken tasted off. When she finally came back, I told her I wasn't happy and that my food was horrible and so was lack of service. She said something under her breath and said she would take my meal off the ticket which she did. When I left, I told her that I wouldn't have been so upset if she would have stopped at our table and I could have explained it to her. I was told that with so many people there she just didn't have the time. She didn't get a tip and we won't be back. read more

Let me tell you a story. 17 years ago I tried Pork Egg Foo Young at this restaurant and afterwards spent most of that time looking for a place that could compare. The Egg Foo Young was great. I mean really great. The gravy wasn't too thick or thin, it had the perfect balance of smokiness to it. A lot of the time you get Pork Egg Foo Young and it's a bit salty, it isn't here. It's so tasty my mouth waters thinking about it. Now how do I know that it's still as good as it used to be? Because one of the first things I did when I moved back to the harbor was try my favorite dishes at all of my old favorite restaurants. The Pork Egg Foo Young was one of those and believe me, It's still as good as I remember. I'm also a fan of their noodles. The chow mein is wonderful, regardless of which you choose, and the rice is always fluffy and light. One thing to keep in mind is that the sesame chicken doesn't come with a sauce, however they will give you sauce on the side. Someone said that they had better food at all you can eat for $10 restaurants, I really would like to hear which restaurants those were, because I certainly can't remember many that are as good as this place, not to mention friendly service. So with all that good stuff mentioned, why did I give it four stars? Well the soups are kind of bland, some of the vegetable dishes could use a little spice, and the serving sizes are on the small side. Still, it's the best you'll find on the harbor and I encourage people to try it out. It's certainly worth the drive. read more

Regrettable and forgettable. The Hong Kong in Cosmopolis is one of the worst American Chinese places I've experienced. Even compared to other American style Chinese places the Hong Kong pales. Never mind any connections to the cuisine of anywhere in a decent China Town much less China or Taiwan. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken lunch special with hot sour soup to start. The soup had the appearance of cream of wheat - gray and very gelatinous. This was the most unappealing soup I've encountered. I had maybe 2 spoons and left the rest. Bland, and flavorless with a nasty jelly-like texture. The Kung Pao dish I would more correctly describe as Kung Pao celery. There was at least a full cup of chopped celery but maybe 1.5 tablespoons of very tiny (1/4 inch) pieces of chicken. The flavor was just so so - reasonably hot of course, but not much else going on seasoning-wise. Lastly, the pork fried rice was completely lacking in any flavor whatsoever. No evidence of anything but the rice itself as an ingredient, and utterly bland and dry. I left virtually all behind, along with the Kung Pao Celery. Even the saltine crackers that came with the soup were bad!! I wonder just how many diners have been given that very packet of Zesta Saltines - the wrapper had sticky food residue and the crackers were broken inside. I realize this is Cosmopolis and not Seattle or San Francisco but no matter how you look at it, the Hong Kong has lost the plot, if ever they even had it. The tea was tasty! Dave read more

First time there today and won't be my last!! Great food and great service!!! I started with the fried wonton appetizer with cheese and crab it was an instant hit!! Very good! I ordered from the choose your combo lunch. Pork egg roll, this is a monster! Good flavor but almost to big to bite! lol BBQ pork had good flavor, will order it again. Stopped there on a Monday afternoon. You never know what you're getting into stopping at a little hole in the wall restaurant, but this was quite good. The hot and sour soup was very tasty, as was the egg flower soup (or so I was told). Our orders came up quick. My kung pao was medium heat, just like I ordered, and my wife's bbq beef and subgum was very good. Her aunt had a bowl of shrimp noodles that had tons of veggies and shrimp in it. If I could, I would not even give this a one star. The food was terrible! The barbeque pork tasted spoiled. Sour, rotting taste to it. The prawns were definitely recooked. They were dry and extremely greasy and old tasting. The sweet n sour pork was not edible. I couldn't even chew it. It tasted also previously cooked and then recooked the next day or so. All in all, I could not even find a positive about the food ordered. I don't even think a starving homeless person would take a second bite of this food. Sorry to leave such a negative feedback. I never believe to ever post anything like this, but the impression is an everlasting negative one. The food was the worst I've ever had in my life, and I'm old and had many meals in my time. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. An am/pm burger will satisfy your hunger much better and cost 99% less on your pocketbook. Best Chinese food in town. Many people enjoy Ocean Palace, but my favorite Chinese food comes from Hong Kong. Best egg rolls I've ever tasted, great almond fried chicken and the sweet and sour sauce is perfect! If you are in the mood for Chinese this is the place to be. Folks, I grew up in the Bay Area, eating San Francisco Asian cuisine, and I am telling you, Hong Kong Restaurant has the best egg rolls I have ever tasted! I don't even LIKE egg rolls, but I LOVE these! Have been here 3 times now and every dish is AMAZING! The drawback? The dim-witted snaggletooth waitress I seem to get every time. I haven't been here in a very long time until I had my two grandkids over for the weekend. It was a busy evening and I didn't feel like cooking so much as a Stouffer's lasagne, so they both were asking about "that one Chinese restaurant in Cosi" when I asked what they felt like having for dinner. Oh, that one, I thought. Of all the restaurants, they pick that one. Really random. Supposedly they have been there before a few times with their mother. "Are you really sure?" I asked, hoping for a change of mind. I didn't exactly feel like driving up to Olympia or down to Cosi/Aberdeen for dinner either, and I didn't want to go only to get substandard food. The last time I've been to this place--which was almost ten years ago--I wasn't exactly a fan. But, I have an open mind and realize that things change and drove down to Cosi anyways. We ended up getting the choose-your-own combo. I specifically had the Mongolian Beef, and let me tell you, it was tasteless. It was topped with noodles the consistency of styrofoam. I was expecting flavor--a little bit of spice in the form of little red peppers perhaps and a slightly sweet/spicy sauce to top it off. The sweet-and-sour chicken was EXACTLY the same as I had remembered from a LONG while ago...the sauce was still very odd and jelly-like and there was gristle in the chicken (gross!). The sweet-and-sour shrimp had the same sauce and was basically huge pockets of fried batter around tiny shrimp. I couldn't finish any of it. And, I could tell that my husband and my grandkids were not pleased with their meals either. As far as the restaurant's appearance, it was still the same old. No change there either.
