If you want plum wine filled to the rim for $4, this is the place. Do not order the wonton soup. Broth was so bland it tasted like water, had dried out Chinese bbq pork in the soup and the wonton filling was also bland. Random boiled egg inside the soup and overcooked bok choy. I took it home and had to add beef bouillon and sesame oil to make it more palatable. Sauce for the beef with broccoli was standard so I can see why my non asian friend liked it. Crab rangoon wasnt as crunchy as Safeway or Panda express but the filling was tasty. read more

Absolutely ridiculous. It was over $100 with tip and delivery and 100% disappointing. You can literally get twice as amount of good hot fresh food from Safeway. The food was fried in rancid oil, the veggies were mush and the fried rice was brown rice with some soy sauce. Nasty! What an absolute bummer I'll never order from these people again. This restaurant is beautiful inside. The art work and statues set the ambiance, the soft music playing and the sound of the waterfall fountain in the front create a peaceful dining experience. The service is fast and attentive, but not intrusive. The food is delicious, you won't find better Chinese in the Aberdeen/Hoquiam area. The portions are generous for the price and the fried rice is unique. My husband and I eat out a lot and are mindful of the cleanliness of a place, at Ocean Palace, the entire place is clean and well taken care of, especially the bathrooms, which were the cleanest I'd seen in a long time. This was, hands down, the worst Chinese-American food I ever had the misfortune to pay $50 for. The egg foo yung was literally inedible. Some kind of gummy, doughy patties, no veggies in the patties except possibly a few flecks of celery, drowned in a weird tasteless yellow gravy. The lemon chicken was strips of dry breast meat buried in more doughy batter. The lemon sauce was adequate, more or less. The fried rice was literally just rice (I suspect it was yesterday's steamed rice) seasoned with soy sauce. That's it, no veggies, no egg, nothing but soy sauce. Even so, it was the best tasting item in the order. I cannot believe anyone could give this food a decent rating, unless they have never lived outside Aberdeen. read more

So the first time I went there, I had the best sweet and sour chicken. The breading was so tasty it didn't need sauce. The rice was on point. Soup was okay. However the next 3 times I went, it wasn't that good, little soggy, and just a disappointment. I haven't had the urge to go back since 3 times is a little much for a 20 entre. read more

This place has excellent food with reasonable pricing. Their BBQ is amazing, thick flavorful, tender and plentiful. Honestly, the best I have ever had in a Chinese restaurant. The only thing is if you order BBQ fried rice it is not like fried rice at all. Just the simple lunch special fried rice with BBQ. We drove to this restaurant from Westport, WA, on July 11th, because the vibe in Westport was that we didn't really feel comfortable sitting in a restaurant there to eat. We wanted to just sit down and enjoy nice dinner. When we got there the place was empty, so was a little worried, but glad we stayed. The owner, Christina, was the nicest lady. The food was not only good but plentiful. One plate could of easily fed 2 people. We had deep fried prawns as an appetizer and the prawns were huge and good with the sweet and sour sauce. For our entree we both got the Triple Crown, and it was a mountain of food. So good!!! The place did pick up as the evening progressed, and there was a constant flow of people coming in for takeout. A friend requested dinner here for her birthday. It's on the busiest street in town and I've driven past it so many times but never noticed it was there. We met at 6 pm and there was no parking out front, but thankfully there's a free lot half a block down. The building is massive, there's a very pretty water feature by the front counter. I'm hard of hearing, and the one staff member who was there called out something to me from the rear of the dining area, but I couldn't make out what she said, so I felt kind of awkward. We were seated right away and had drinks in front of it. That one server (the restaurant website identifies her as the owner) did everything while we were there: took our orders, refilled our drinks, brought our food, checked on us, took delivery orders on the phone, rang people up. Even though she was a little short with us, her level of speed and attention to detail was impressive. I ordered the breaded almond chicken. It seems like almond chicken is a different dish from place to place, but Ocean Palace had the kind I like, small breaded cutlets smothered in yellow sauce and served with steamed rice. It cost close to $20 but was a giant plate of food. My partner got a combo plate and I was able to sample. The sweet and sour chicken was great, and something I'd consider getting in the future. I get the impression that this restaurant batters chicken well - the coating was crispy and a good ratio to the meat. The fried rice was darker than I've seen at other places but I liked it. The egg roll was freshly fried and decent. The only dish I didn't care for was the chicken broccoli. It looked very appealing but the taste was off - maybe the balance of the sauce - it was hard to put my finger on it, but neither of us wanted a second bite. I'm glad that my friend made me aware of this place. I'm proud to support small local businesses, so I will absolutely return. read more

We always receive great food and family-friendly service! This is a "must stop" for us when we're in the Harbor.

I knew this restaurant had been around for a while but was hesitant to go in due to the conditions of the humans on the street in the area. Just seemed run down on the outside-lights out on their sign above the door... Glad we decided to dine here, regardless of how it is on the outside. We were the only customers at the time we dined (around 230 PM). Large & open on the inside. It was comfortable and beautifully decorated. The restrooms were clean, stocked and not smelly like some restaurants. Great staff! So friendly and fun! When our drinks were placed in front of us, we were asked if we wanted to start off with an appetizer, BBQ pork? GREAT marketing!!! Coming into a restaurant for the first time, this took the pressure off of us in the decision-making department and was a wonderful thing to suggest and a great business tactic. We said yes, of course! There was a lunch special and a dinner special on their board inside. Lunch specials run until 2 PM so we decided to get the $20.95/person dinner special. I should have written down what it was, but it had sweet & sour chicken, pork fried rice, deep fried crab wontons, egg rolls, deep fried prawns and a wonderful vegetable, chicken and noodle dish-we had JUST ordered enough food to feed us for a week....and left STUFFED with a HUGE amount to take home. To analyze the food according to our preferences: The appetizer BBQ pork was really dry (we prefer a bit juicy), cut into 1/4 inch chunks and served with the typical sauces/sesame seeds. The dish appeared beautiful and symmetrical on the plate. It really lacked flavor to me. However, I do like smothering it in Chinese mustard and that I did until I got an entire body rush. Just a think my dad and I always did when we had BBQ together-it was a competition. We ate about half of the amount served. The deep fried crab wontons were beautiful. I love the way they were folded into triangles. Have never had them like this before. Very good, but mostly cream cheese. Served with sweet & sour dipping sauce. The deep fried prawns had way too much poofy pancake-like breading. i guess I prefer a more tempura-like breading. I had one, it was good. Same with the sweet & sour chicken. Nice portions to share but enough of the deep-fried stuff for me & the thick breading. But the food itself was fine. The pork fried rice? meh....I have had much better. It was cooked just fine and flavored with probably soy sauce. I just had a small sample. It had cut BBQ pieces with it. I prefer this type of rice with egg, peas, etc. Makes it more fun to eat. But the taste was palatable and lots came home with us, just sort of boring pork fried rice. The vegetable, chicken, noodle dish was KILLER!!!! So flavorful and delicious. I am not an expert on Cantonese dishes so I don't really know what it was but it was so good! It may have been chicken chow mein. Not sure. But very good!!! The tea and water we had to drink was enjoyable as well. For what we paid for this meal, my God! We got a lot of delicious tasting food and had a very positive experience. Staff advised that COVID really has caused a decline in in-house dining customers. They do have take out as well, which is still doing well. I hope my review helps folks come back to indoor dining :) We will be back to try more of their dishes. Quite a pleasant experience. read more

We came in today for the first time. Beautiful restauran, extremely clean and so friendly and welcoming. We ordered and our meal was out rather quickly and pipping hot! We each tried something different and were not disappointed! And the fact we found ourselves camped out there for three hours, she still offered us hot tea and a cozy spot to visit and enjoy the ambiance. I can't stress enough, the kindness and warmth of the owner and her service. It really stands out to me as a gem in a small town. Worth the stop if you're local or just passing thru on 101. My husband and I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and we traveled to Aberdeen after Christmas 2020 as we are considering retiring there. We'd never been and wanted to get a feel for the place. We were there during the epic snowstorm, and not wanting to go out for food, we searched for anyone who would deliver. DoorDash was pretty much shut down, but we called Ocean Palace and asked if they would deliver to our hotel room. We were pleasantly surprised when they agreed. We had a variety of dishes, and all were really good, but the reason I am writing this review is because one dish in particular was SO OUTSTANDING that I cannot get it out of my mind, even over a month later. Simply put: the Hot and Sour soup was one of the best things I have EVER eaten. Warm, comforting with a wonderful umami flavor and the perfect amount of vinegar to bring that elusive sour element that most Chinese restaurants, in my opinion, never quite get right. It was also thicker than most Chinese soups, which to me made it all the more inviting. Hot and Sour soup is one of my go-to dishes at a Chinese restaurant, and I doubt if I will ever find a better one. It was the PERFECT dish on a cold, snowy night. I have been trying to figure out how I can get more of it, but since we live almost 800 miles away, it doesn't seem very likely at this point. We really loved Aberdeen's vibe, and let's just say that this soup is now a factor in the plus column for Aberdeen as we make our decisions regarding retirement. My husband and I have been coming here for 2 years. The owner, Christine, is so friendly and she remembers people from visit to visit. We had not been back since fall 2022 as we moved out of the area. When we walked in today she immediately recognized us and said how happy she was to see us. She remembered a lot of what we usually order and just kept saying how great it was to see you guys again. We love their food. Hot and Sour soup is a little different than some but oh so good.!we ordered the Mu-Shu Pork, General Tao's chicken, Kung Pao Chicken and House fried rice without shrimp. The atmosphere ? Amazing! Complete with fountain, ornate art on the walls and even some impressive carvings for sale in the foyer area, this place rivaled the huge Chinese restaurants in Chinatown. The service was exceptional. We were greeted and served by the same lovely woman. She was prompt, polite, friendly and above all accurate which is nearly impossible with my group with all of our substitution request and multiple changes. The food was Delicious!! Dinner last evening at Ocean Palace....Ordered the Cantonese Familt Dinner Special for 2. The winton soup was great, although the wonton were filled with a chunk of very dry day old chicken breast. I asked if the egg rolls were made in house. I was told "No, but made by family. They were very uniform in size and nicely deep fried. Bitting into the egg roll, I was surprised that they were filled with very fine ground cabbage and very few pieces of carrots. Definitely not my favorite and unlike any I had ever been served. Chicken LoMein was made with spaghetti noodles, with only several slices of celery and a few carrots which had been cut wit a vegetable peeler. Very thin and no more than 6 pieces. The sauce had no flavor...It was chicken broth thickened with corn starch. Almond Fried Chicken was ok, however, served with what appeared to be cream of chicken soup with no flavor. Sweet and Sour Prawns were the saving grace of the meal. Served in a cup or more of bright red sweet and sour sauce. They had little flavor, however, the sauce on the other items gave them a little flavor. The 2 dinners were $24.95 each. A lot of money for poorly made food. The restaurant was beautifully furnished with many many Chinese carvings, paintings and antiques. They were fantastic. It would be worth the trip only to view the interior...but I'll caution you about the flavorless food. read more
