VEGETARIANS, BEWARE. I've been a veg for over 40 years so I realize that when a menu offers tofu along with meat, there will be contamination. However, my bowl from last evening was inedible. I purchased a Create Your Own stir-fry bowl with tofu, brown rice and veggies. It tasted like it had been prepared on a very used grill (the aroma of grilled beef was overwhelming). One bite and I was done. My husband had a CYO stir-fry with tofu, whole wheat pasta and veggies. Though it was likely good when it was packaged for take out, by the time he got it home, it was quite dry and not very enjoyable (and it tasted the same - like a "dirty" grill). It's great that restaurants are finally getting hip to plant-based offerings, but this will be our last visit to Honeygrow. read more

I like this place but it they prepare the dishes inconsistently. There never seems to be enough sauce for the rice noodles. Once, I watched them prepare my order, the chef tossed the wok in the air so much that ingredients came out of the wok. This made the portion considerable smaller. When all the ingredients are added and the right amount of sauce is added, it tastes amazing. I wish there was an option for extra sauce when ordering. read more

This is my weekly stop (probably daily if I could) to stop by and order the spicy garlic stir-fry. It is delicious and a bit spicy. The staff is welcoming and friendly. There are times where it's super busy so it takes a while to get your order but it's okay. Especially during finals when all the students want some honeygrow! The food always tastes fresh, and when comparing the nutritional facts with other restaurants, it makes me feel much better when I come here. I give it 4/5 stars because sometimes it is a hit or miss. Sometimes they forget to put pineapple in my stir fry (which makes it 10x better), other time they did not put enough sauce so it's missing flavor, and other times they get it perfectly. It wasn't that good, service was terrible. i definitely don't recommend. tables were dirty, were few people behind the counter. there was one boy making my food who had the worst attitude. maybe it was a bad day not blaming him but I'd be annoyed too if I was the only person being forced to work. Really yummy! My husband got us two orders to go and I was surprised at the size for the price when he arrived home with the containers. Leftovers for sure. I got the tofu, red coconut curry with a few replacements and it was full of flavor. One complaint is it was a little light as far as the add-ins go. Or too many noodles? Maybe that's just a thing with carry out so they can fill the container (but in that case, add more add-ins). Will be back to try other options. Tried this new spot honeygrow on St Paul. it has a very metropolitan atmosphere and good selection of choices locally sourced from what i understand seems like they're giving Sarku Japan a run for its money. One of the pictures displays my costom order if you want to try it, in hindsight i would substitute the edamame for mushrooms but. So I just waited over 30 minutes for food. I do recognize that tonight was a busy night. My major gripe with this place is that the manager offered free beverages to some guests who waited for their food but not all guests who waiting for 30 minutes. I certainly do think it was done purposefully but i was not one who was offered a free beverage. I don't think I'll be back. There are too many options to wait 30 minutes for "fast food". Great food I got the sesame garlic (substituting beef with chicken) and girlfriend got the Chesapeake crab stir fry. Mine was delicious, noodles had a glaze that wasn't too thick or sweet. Chicken was a good cut and high quality Girlfriend loved hers too, and she got a LOT of crab for the price. She said it was all her favorite vegetables. One thing I noticed was that my portion was a little smaller than hers, but this isn't a negative because I think it just amounted to generosity for hers rather than less for mine. Also decided to get a honey bar item, and it was also great. Similar to getting fro yo. I went during lunch hour. This place is going to packed for a while. It's the only place of its kind around. I took mine to go. You have to stand in a line to place your order on these touch screens. Bonus points for having hand sanitizer right there! Once you decide, you pay there if using card or go to a person operated station to pay cash. Then you have to wait for your food. And for the love of god, remember that stir fry takes longer to cook then making a salad! They don't have coke or Pepsi. If I remember it was Maine root beer brand. I didn't get a drink. And it's finally in Charles Village! Honeygrow, a Philly startup, is a Chipotle-esque concept for stir-fry, salads, and fruit bar that focuses on its ingredient sources and quality. Instead of you shouting over glass to be heard (hard for short people like me) for ingredients, you place your order at a touchscreen. It's very efficient, if you know what you want to get. Since they opened a few days ago, they have been bustling. Service is wonderful. I got the sesame garlic from their suggested stir-fry options, and was very happy with my order. The sauce was flavourful and not too heavy. It's a stir-fry that you definitely don't feel clogged down with after. I hope it continues on this positive trajectory, and especially since it's so close, this will definitely become one of my regular places to visit! read more

Yoooo. This restaurant is bomb! When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the styling of the place, very modern and clean. Then you see the computer screens for ordering! Awesome touch, makes it easy to personalize your order!! I got the red curry dish, substituting in chicken and brown rice, and adding cashews. It was pretty packed with the college kid crowd so I ended up waiting a bit longer than i would have liked for my food. But when I got it, I was blown away! I don't usually have high expectations for Thai food from places that aren't regular Thai restaurants but this ranked up there with my favorite Thai places. The cashews added a nice crunch and the meal was really flavorful and felt fresh and healthy! It was also a great size - I was hungry so I ate it all but I could see how I could make it last a couple meals. Food is reliably delicious. Feels like a chain, but a nice one with computers to order from. This is the millennial's dream-- you really don't have to talk to anyone if you don't want to! ;) The staff is so nice, you should talk to them. Sesame garlic is a solid option. I tried this place again for dinner after a bad lunch experience here, and again they UNDERWHELMED. There were signs everywhere saying that they ran out of chicken. Fair. Fresh ingredients may sometimes run out. But my girlfriend ordered a set chicken stir fry by accident, but she STILL got chicken! I ordered an egg salad since the meat I usually get (chicken) was out, but apparently they still had it. honeygrow needs to be more on top of things and communicate with customers better. I've ordered from honeygrow about 5 times now. And about 4 of those times my bowl is not the way I ordered it. It's almost always missing one or two of the toppings I ordered. Ranging from the croutons to the actual chicken I ordered on a salad!! Like really!!?? I even had chopped onions in my parfait one time! If it was infrequent I wouldn't be upset but it's constant!!!! I love honeygrow! It's seriously one of my new favorites. I've tried a few create your own options, as well as the chesapeake crab. I prefer the crab one because it's the most flavorful dish I've had there. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because the other meat is kind of bland. I think the crab does a better job at picking up on the old bay seasoning, and the tomato broth in that stir fry is really awesome too. They would easily get 5 stars if the shrimp, chicken, etc had a bit more flavor. I haven't tried the turkey though, I plan on getting that next. The staff is kind and the restaurant is always clean when I go there. The sodas are also tastier than your typical A&W or Coke. I think it's really cool that you order on a touch screen, it makes ordering easy and you don't have to worry about whether or not someone's hearing you properly. read more

After reading about Honeygrow months ago, I was in the area and decided to give it a try. The place is a cute casual location. We were greeted when we entered but quickly noticed that there were multiple self serve kiosk to submit your order. The kiosk are user friendly and provide all information needed but I do like some human interaction. I ordered a create your own bowl and my husband ordered a menu option bowl. We chose to dine in. Our food was prepared quickly. We both had the spicy garlic sauce and it was spicy and delicious. We really enjoyed our food. The ingredients tasted fresh. The portion size was good and the meal was filling. The drink options need some improvement. There are expensive fesh bottled juices, la Croix and fountain drinks. The fountain drinks all seemed lightly to almost non flavored but that could be for healthy reasons. Overall we enjoyed our meals so we would certainly return. read more

I really do enjoy fast casual locations. When you walk in there is no one who takes your order, you do it via the computer. Interface is very easy to use. They accept credit and cash, for cash you pay at the end register. Overall I love the quality of the food and the concept. But I really wished honeygrow was more consistent in their execution. Multiple times I have ordered a meal and one or two ingredients would be missing, no sauce, wrong toppings, etc. I believe this is because the place has too many things (fresh ingredients for salads, rice dishes, noodle dishes, fruit bowls, etc.) Usually in an environment where there are too many topping choices it leads to this type of issue. However this place is special because they use quality ingredients from local sources, of which I really support! Flavor is always great in the stir fry dishes. Favorite stir fry: the red coconut curry. Favorite salad: make it grain. Favorite Bev: the red one. I'm a fan of the salads too but I tend to get the stir fry more often or just the juice. Love the open seating. I tend to go during off hours so I always find a seat. No awkward "where-do-I-stand-to-get-my-food" situations. read more

I've tried the curry noodle, which was extremely dry and bland, and the five spice turkey bowl, which was salty.. nothing special. A lot of students go there though. If you are health conscious (many ingredients are locally sourced) and conscientious about the locally sourced ingredients, you can go. First time. I ordered a stir fry bowl with tofu. It had tofu on the top and tasted good. I continued eating until I was stopped because I no longer tasted the tofu. It started to taste like chicken. And upon closer examination and confirmation from my roommate it did in fact contain chicken on the bottom of the bowl. The proteins looked very similar so I don't know if this was someone's idea of a sick joke or an extremely easily avoidable mistake. Who thought it would be a good idea to put these proteins together? Or remotely near each other given their similar appearance. I haven't eaten chicken or any other meat for over 2 years and I am already feeling sick to my stomach. I definitely will not be returning nor will I ever recommend this place to other people. There are a good number of other restaurants nearby that will actually communicate with you about cross contamination and about making sure that your dietary needs are met and not completely messed with. I just want to warn those non-meat eaters out there, if you do decide to come here: WATCH YOUR FOOD.
