I work remote for my job. Now and then it is nice to get out of the house and see people. Breakfast is a great way to do that. I had breakfast at Honey Butter's, had my laptop with me and worked while I was there. My waitress, Aliana, was wonderful. She was delightfully happy and very responsive. She made a great recommendation for my omelet (three cheese and add sausage) and had a smile on her face the entire time. You could hear her joy when interacting with the other customers as well. When I work at a restaurant like this I make sure I am not there at their busy time. I arrived around 9:30 am and left around 11 am. Aliana checked on me periodically and kept my coffee hot the entire time I was there. The food was also superb (with the exception of the biscuit). The omelet was hot, the combination of cheeses was great and the spinach was sautéed and distributed throughout my omelet. The potatoes here are wonderful. They are cooked in a butter garlic sauce that add to the flavor, but doesn't overwhelm. They are perfectly crispy on the outside and soft in the center. I just wish the biscuits were better. They always get hard after about 10 min with a stale consistency (but don't let this stop you from enjoying everything else!). read more

Comfort food - some days simple, well cooked fare is all that's needed. I had a B. O. B. A "breakfast" burger with bacon and an egg. With the addition of optional lettuce and tomato the size was almost too big. But then again, I've got a big...appetite; so a little compression and some extra maneuvering and I devoured it. Wife had the corn cakes w/eggs and bacon, which she enjoyed (although I won!). Nothing fancy, just good home style food at a reasonable price. Located in Norge, near the food lion. Went on a Sunday morning and was able to get a seat right away (even when it looked fairly packed). Interior is nothing fancy, but a homey, small town feel. We ordered the fried pickles, the club (with a side of cole slaw), buffalo chicken wrap with sauce on the side (with a side of tator tots). Big portions and the club was so tasty! Honey Butters is a relaxed local breakfast and lunch place where portions are large and taste good. Service is friendly and accommodating. We recently went for brunch. Part of our party of four ordered from the breakfast menu and part ordered lunch. I couldn't believe the size of the pancakes and the lumberjack omelet. Huge!!! The eggs benedict are also very good. We stopped here on our way to Virginia Beach and should've known it wouldn't be great when we walked in and our shoes stuck to the floor. The whole place was so sticky! But it was pretty busy so we figured don't judge a book by its cover. My husband and I got omelets and when they came out they were swimming in grease and tasted just like butter. It was gross! I don't understand cooking an omelet in so much butter that that is all you taste. Very disappointing... Not sure if this a new location, dining room empty on a Friday night. We got carry out all our meals (4) were very good. I guess my only gripe (principal) is .25 per container seems a bit petty. I arrived around 9:20 on a Sunday morning. There were a good amount of people seated, but I was seated quickly. I ordered the shrimp and grits. It came with two eggs and toast or an English muffins. The fried catfish was delicious! Also the fried shrimp was amazing! Workers are very friendly. The only thing that bothered me was we were the only ones in there and they seated the next guests, couple tables down, then the next guest between us, and then the next guest between them so we were all on one wall, while the entire restaurant was empty! The staff member that took our order over the phone was friendly and attentive when listening to the details of our order. Good, yummy Brunch place! Had been to their other location in Williamsburg and thought that this location might not be as busy on a Sunday, I guess we guessed right as our party of four was sat immediately at about 10am. They have the same menu at both locations and they do offer lunch after 11am along with their breakfast and brunch specials all day. In our party we had people order The Sausage and Gravy with eggs, the classic Eggs Benny and the Pancake Sampler. Everything was yummy and cooked to how we had specified. We all wanted our potatoes to be crispy and they were. Eggs were cooked as they had been asked (Over easy, scrambled, hard center). The apples and grits are very good and we all came away happy with our ,meals. Our waitress was very nice and the only complaint was that the coffee was very watery tasting. read more

We had breakfast at Honey Butter's Kitchen, and had a great experience. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and comfortable, and the restaurant was clean. I ordered the Country Fried steak with sausage gravy, two eggs over medium, garlic fried potatoes and sour dough bread. My husband ordered the corn cakes with honey butter, which he thoroughly enjoyed since it's like a pancake made with corn. It's a sweet and savory dish. The servings are very large portions, and we could have shared a plate. My son had the mini chocolate chip pancakes with bacon and loved it. The price of our meals were average and definitely worth the money. We definitely would come visit Honey Butter's Kitchen when we are in the Williamsburg area again. read more

We went to Honey Butters on a Saturday morning. We arrived around 10:45 to find that there was about a 40-minute wait. The hostess estimated almost perfectly: we were seated about 35 minutes later. We started with a pitcher of mimosas. They were the perfect balance of champagne and OJ. We chose the traditional though they offer variations including pineapple. My friend and I both ordered the special: creamed chipped beef and gravy. It was served over four slices of thick toast. The gravy was smooth and neither too thick nor thin. The garlic potatoes were delicious:crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The poached eggs were soft just like I like them. The server was friendly and efficient. The atmosphere felt much like a spot you'd find in a rural area. The only drawback I found was that the restaurant had a curious smell that you frequently find in River and lake communities. I am extremely smell sensitive so it was a little off-putting. I think this is truly my issue as my friend seemed unfazed. Nonetheless the experience was worth the wait. read more

For over 2 years, my family and I have been very frequent customers of Honey Butter's Kitchen. Until this week, we never had any issues. My 91 year old father is dying from cancer. He is an exceedingly polite and kind man, who tries to face the remainder of his life with determination, good cheer and dignity. Very recently, his cancer spread and he developed a tumor on his head. It is an unattractive disfigurement, but certainly not among the worst that I have seen. I take my father to Honey Butter's as a treat after his cancer doctor's appointments. I was shocked when, after this week's breakfast at Honey Butter's, the waitress pulled me aside and said that a customer complained about the ugliness of my father's disfigurement and that we could no longer eat there until my father found a way to cover it. My father who could hear the conversation was so obviously embarrassed. It caused him so much shame, and the pain of seeing his humiliation was terrible. He was also hurt that they treated him as a child and would not speak directly to him. When I wrote the owner of Honey Butter's, he praised the actions of the waitress and said it was justified as my father is a Public Health Hazard. I tried explaining that my father has terminal cancer and his tumor is not an open wound or infectious. You certainly can't catch cancer from him. It may not look nice, but his cancer is not infectious. My father is so shamed that it is difficult to get him to go outside of the house again. This was so unnecessarily cruel. read more

We went to this location for breakfast. There were few diners when we were there. They feature traditional breakfasts. We had Sausage biscuits and gravy and Benie (eggs Benedict). They came with garlic fried potatoes. The portions were large. The sausage gravy was excellent; it had sausage pieces in it. The server was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was extremely cold because of air conditioning and we had a long wait for our food to be served after ordering. The server apologized for the wait when bringing the food to our table. I got the breakfast sampler and my wife had the chicken fried steak. Both were absolutely delicious. The garlic fried potatoes were amazing, eggs were perfect and the grits were delicious. The great thing is my wife has an egg sensitivity so were needed to have some things on separate plates and not cooked together so we could share our food and they were very, very respectful of that. I'll start of with the good, good coffee and amazing grits. That's it, sausage gravy was not good, it was cold for starters and tasted like it came out of a can. I believe the biscuit underneath was good but even that didn't help. The gravy just wasn't good. Now let's talk about those scrambled eggs. I was so looking forward to some nice good fluffy scrambled eggs nope you ain't getting that here. When I mentioned the eggs to the waitress she stated they were "military scrambled" . How hard is it to actually push the eggs around and scramble. She did offer for the kitchen to make me some more eggs and they would chop them up. Waitress never refilled the coffee. Wow. Not good. We've been coming for years and never had an experience like we did today. We came in and nearly half the table were empty and there were more people "working" than I've ever seen. We stood at the counter for several minutes while a group of female employees stood there talking...we said good morning 2x and they they decided to be helpful. We asked for a baby chair and they went and got one for the table, another customer came and took it from the table while we waited for a few lazy waitresses to decide to work. Was excited to try this place because of all the wonderful reviews but it didn't quite hit the mark for me. One of the first things we noticed was how dirty the floors were. We're usually not the types to nitpick a dirty floor but there was a lot of food underneath our booth we had to dodge stepping on. My husband even noticed more food on the floor in the main walking area while we were eating. It was a cold drizzly day so there weren't that many people in the restaurant. The server finally swept up the mess in the main walkway when we were halfway through our meals. As for as the food, it didn't totally blow me away. The garlic potatoes had great flavor but they were definitely burnt. You can refer to my picture and see that some of it was almost black. The bottoms of my biscuits were really tough to eat. The gravy couldn't moisten them and help them out. I hope to have a better experience when I come back to the area. I will say the server was friendly enough. read more
