Was staying in the area on vacation and kept seeing how packed it was at Aleworks so one day I decided to stop by. Inside it's small but they have a hub beer garden with plenty of outdoor seating. I happened to be here on the trivia night and it was crowded. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. Although it was busy I didn't have to wait long to place my order at the bar. I got the Chesapeake IPA. All of their beers appear to be brewed in-house. It's a nice place to have a drink and hang out with friends. Only drawback is that they don't serve any food onsite and nothing close by to eat so make sure you eat before you come.

Friendly pour staff. So many choices. The OG's which are great and always some seasonal stuff too. Nothing ever disappoints when we are here. Our favorite brewery when we were in town for nearly 10 years. Right now the tangerine and ring of fire I highly recommend.

Food and great beer with an ambiance suited for family, friends and anything you have in mind... Alewerks for the win. Their variety of beer can match anybody's taste. They have food trucks daily that rotate and keep your palate guessing and intrigued every visit. As an out of town visitor, it is a must hit every trip to VA.

Plenty of parking. We were visiting from out of town and had dropped into the L.A.B. location the day before and were excited to come here. There was a good amount of overlap in the beers but it was a cozy brewery that seemed poplar for the locals. Plenty of seating outside and a good amount inside. I opted for the Pumpkin Ale which has a good pumpkin flavor and a good amount of spice but not overly Pumpkin for those who may enjoy strong Pumpkin Ales. They have a variety of merchandise and a food vendor outside. Some board games as well. Overall a cool place and would definitely be a brewery I would go to regularly if I lived in the area. They do offer flights up to 6 beers as well.

Alewerks is a good place to go if you're looking for a drinks and good company. As a person who doesn't like beer, there were two sour options to pick from, which were very good. I picked the passionfruit and guava flavor, which was smooth and not hoppy at all (just what I wanted). There is also soda for people who don't want alcohol. While it can get loud and busy inside, the company and atmosphere are welcoming. I was able to easily make conversation with the people next to me. On Tuesdays, Alewerks has trivia, which is a blast. Sit at the bar or towards the side or back in order to be away from the speaker.

I have been coming here for years. About 4 months ago all the bar staff left. I just came today for the pumpkin festival. I have seen this place way busier than today but the staff can not get it together. The line wraps around the bar (never ever seen it like this). One person working the line. One person constantly serving the 8 people sitting at the bar. The manager seems lost in what to do as she talks to people and runs in circles but not helping. This place has really gone down hill from what it use to be.

Piping hot pretzel comes with spicy beer cheese and mustard. But they're so good you might just eat them plain.

Great beer choices, fun and relaxed vibe with plenty of games. Pretzels are out of this world. Food trucks available in during you want more food options.

Alerts does an absolutely wonderful job with their brews and their collaborations with non-profits is commendable! I tried the Collective Efforts Hazy DIPA today! #yummo The Weekend Lager and Superb IPA are two of my faves!

This is our 4th time here and we throughly enjoy this brewery. Awesome outdoor seating area and inside is nice too! Nice staff who answer any questions about the beers they have. The husband has enjoyed a variety of their beers and they just released their pumpkin ale for the season and he really liked it. As a non beer-drinker I enjoy that they do offer some speciality sodas in bottles as well as water. They also sell a few snacks and usually have a food truck on-site. They also have bands and do trivia on Tuesday evenings. Check out their Facebook page for up-to-date happenings.

After living in two big beer scenes (Richmond Va and The Twin Cities MN) I'm always leery but curious when checking out breweries in areas I feel I'd least expect. Especially home (Williamsburg born and raised). As a matter of fact, I was floored when I first found out about breweries popping up in Williamsburg. The beer is good albeit a bit standard in profile. I tried a custom flight with their Pumpkin Ale being my first of the season which has a nice spice flavor and pleasant pumpkin aroma on the nose. The Giant Peach was crisp with a nice hop and fruity body and their "I like your style" lactose sour with passionfruit and guava was quite tasty. Atmosphere is really nice. I thought the inside was cute and perfect for a chilly day, while their patio space is ample and dog friendly. If you like craft and are in town I for sure say to check them out.

Consistently some of the best beers that I've ever had, not just in this region, but on the East Coast. From Maine to Florida, Alewerks is always in my Top Three. Their basic beers are always dependably tasty, and their seasonal beers are always adventurous, nuanced, and delicious.

Excellent brewery. I have visited with friends and family and had an outstanding experience each time. The food and service were great. The beer outstanding and the ambiance for both was on point.

The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is "drink williamsburg" sounds like a party bus, but it's not. It's a sampling tour. However it was educational and interesting to see places I would have never otherwise been to. There are different routes, and the route we did included a meadery (honey and mead tasting), two rum/gin/whiskey stops and a brewery. I inquired about skipping one of the rum establishments and going to both breweries (other routes had this option), but I was told that people booked and were expecting the route with only one brewery. I told them I was in that group, but they never responded. Turns out the only other people (2) on the tour were asked to switch to the afternoon tour because no one else had booked the evening tour. (The evening tour was the route with two breweries). So there was no reason, with the justification provided, why would couldn't have done two breweries. The liquor tasting is not enjoyable, way too strong. The establishments, especially the Copper Fox Distillery was interesting and a wonderful tour of the grounds was provided. The downside with that place was when it came time for sampling we were told you could either sample the products or get a mixed drink. I chose mixed drink, because it is much easier to drink than straight liquor. But when it came time to pay (I bought more than the sample provided), I was told that wasn't part of the tour, it's either sample the straight liquor or nothing. So I felt mislead and had to pay an additional $9 that I was no expecting. The brewery we did stop at did not provide a tour, but they did provide a flight of four beers for each person on the tour. This was completely ok with the group as we were more interested in drinking than touring.

It is also my birthday month and have had my eye on this tour for awhile. It was fate! Not knowing what to expect, I jumped the gun and paid immediately. When Rex, the owner, sent the itinerary, I saw 3 local restaurants, Catch 31, Rockefeller's, & Tautogs. My first thoughts were, "I hope this isn't lame...", "I could go to these places myself..." The group met at Virginia Aquarium for an optional tour inside for the first 30mins. I arrived late. Now, I wish I made it on time to hear more about oysters. Rex tried finding the group for me & we walked all around the museum. It was way too crowded, I was late, & didn't mind waiting. Perhaps walkie talkies as a communication tool for the husband & wife team. Not just for late arrivals. :) Could be distracting too but, just a suggestion. The aquarium attendants had no idea who or where the group was. I did appreciate the effort. Not many would help me catch up with group especially, since I was late. Our first stop was Catch 31. Table was set and ready to go. We had three chefs(one including one of our guides, Chef Patrick Evans-Hylton) and the sommelier at our table. They educated us about the oysters & wine. They walked us through the various types of oysters & wine, regions, how to eat, & how to taste. We were served 4 oysters each from one of the 7 regions & two wine tastings. There were condiments and crackers on the table. I thought this was definitely the most informative restaurant out of the three. Next stop was Rockefeller's. Again, tables were set & wine was poured! No menu w/ descriptions. We had 2 raw oysters and 2 oysters rockefeller. Then, we were served hush puppies w/ pimento cheese which were amazing. Last, was coconut cake! This restaurant had more food offerings which was good because after several glasses of wine, I was hungry & others were too!! Last stop was Tautog's. They sat us outside & setup was more buffet style. Glasses of wine were on a table for us to pick up as we walked in. The presentation was beautifully prepared. They had 3 of their house sauces which were delicious! I thought the sauces were needed with these oysters. Others agreed. Didn't taste as fresh as the previous restaurants. I believe they were Lynnhaven and I've had Lynnhaven oysters before. So, not a reflection on the tour. There was also fresh cut fruit on the oyster platters. Only because TT asked, my recommendations would be: * Posting sample itineraries on social media * Clearer description of what to expect with regards to food so people know whether or not they should eat prior to the tour or pack a snack/sandwich. * Website shows they would be "happy to provide water and light snacks." None were offered. * Market/advertise the 10% off Yelp Check-in offer * Advise up front the 10% off Yelp Check-in is NOT valid for the Oyster & Wine tour. A portion of proceeds go towards non-profit which I totally understand & appreciate, just set the expectation. Overall, this was a lovely experience that one can comfortably do solo! I did and I truly enjoyed! Hands down. I am so happy to see a company like this on the East Coast and executing with such class. Please don't think this is a drunken wild party bus. It is a tasteful informative experience with subject matter experts who also enjoy partaking in libations while sharing their knowledge! :) I hope to see more food tours added to their current list. Rex, Lisa, & Chef Patrick were cordial, knowledgable, fun, and professional. Thank you so much for a memorable experience!

She discussed the history of Virginia wine and information about Virginia Born presidents. Our first stop was New Kent Winery and our host was great and very polite. The tasting was very informative and fun. Their wines were fantastic and the Vineyard was amazing. It wasn't on the itinerary, but Deanna put it on there. Next was Michie Tavern. We had lunch there and the buffet was great. The wine tasting, not so much. Third stop was Baubersville and the wine was ok.
