My son and I were looking for a local place to get dinner while we were staying a few nights in Mccall on our way to Montana. We saw the sign for Hometown Pizza as we were staying almost across the street at the Super 8. My son is 16, so he loves pizza so we thought we give it a try. Walked in and was immediately greeted by the gentleman at the counter. Very friendly. The restaurant has a dining room but we wanted to take our food back to our room. I ordered the toaste BBQ chicken sandwich and my son ordered the Italian toasted sandwich, Both were excellent. My son is picky so when he says something is good, especially if it isn't hamburger, then I know it is a hit. Restaurant was decorated very nice and updated and was very clean. Definitely worth the stop if you are staying in McCall or driving through on your way somewhere else. read more

My wife and I tried this place since crusty's has fallen into the abyss. I did have a hard time getting a phone order in on a Friday night, but eventually got through. Once the order was in it only took 20 minutes for the pizza. Both of us were very happy with the pie. We ordered a 13 in. Supreme which was more than enough to feed us both. Being a bit unsure of the pizza's size, we also got a small Cobb salad to be sure we were fueled for the next day's skiing. The salad was great. Nothing special about this pizza dough is bland. Toppings seemed fresh but if your from our of town they have a special deal for you. The have hidden cooking fees! That's right if you are unaware they charge a service fee to cook the pizza. And they seem to think that a large pizza take more service to cook than a small. . Will not be back. .. read more

Very disappointed with all the yelpers that recommended this place. The pizza looked and tasted like Pizza Hut. It just wasn't satisfying and the service wasn't very friendly or helpful. I'd steer clear of this spot and head further into town or around the lake to find something better, nothing about this place seemed original or local to me. read more

We had planned to have lunch at a place recommended to us downtown but after becoming frustrated trying to find a parking spot we decided to just return to our RV and find something in the fridge. We just happen to pass by Hometown Pizza and decided to take a chance. Well it was the best decision we had made since being in McCall. The pizza was outstanding and we had fast courteous service. Hometown is a small place which offers dine in, carry out or take and bake. Limited indoor seating is available as well as a few patio tables. They have an interesting array of pizza combinations on their menu which were intriguing, and offer salads, sandwiches and wings too. However, when going to a pizza joint for the first time, you gotta sample the marque star! We ordered the cheesy garlic breadsticks, which were curiously short on the garlic flavor. The breadsticks themselves were thin and crispy, almost cracker-like, with a generous coating of cheeses. They were served with marinara and ranch for dipping and were tasty enough as an appetizer. The pizzas we went with were the Combo Supreme and the Lean & Green + chicken. The combo had a nice range of toppings but the fresh tomatoes were absent. The sauce was also minimal and not very flavorful, but the main drawback for me was the crust. The fresh made crust was thinner and more chewy than I like, and not sturdy enough to support a heavier pie like the combo. As a result my slices sagged and dumped toppings. There was a nice crispy baked cheese ring around the exterior which I did enjoy, but the main body could have been cooked a little longer. The Lean & Green came loaded with tasty veggies and bacon. We also added chicken but the pieces were so small they were almost undetectable. This too suffered from the same crust drawbacks but wasn't as heavy so it didn't sag as much. The pesto was also very mild and didn't pack the burst of flavor I expected. As we found with the breadsticks, the garlic was again not that noticeable here. Overall it was decent pizza, albeit a bit overpriced (2 small pizzas and a small order of sticks put us just over $50). The flavors could be kicked up in my opinion, but it's worth sampling some other items the next time we're in McCall. The patio was small but empty during our visit so it was a nice quiet area for us to eat which also made for a more enjoyable experience. For a picky pizza eater like me, I've had better, but I've also had much worse. read more

I've tried two of the "unique and tasty" pizzas so far, the beachcomber and the jalamato spinasil: both had a surprising amount of well-balanced flavor. The atmosphere isn't quite as nice as some other places in town (except that I really liked the music they had playing), but the pizza is unbeatable. read more

My family and I recently moved to the Boise area from Ohio and took our 1st trip to McCall. After a long day of building sandcastles and wading in cold water with the kids we look for a place to grab the family staple... pepperoni pizza. We stopped by another local pizza place and were met with less than stellar service and told we'd have at least a 40min wait... needless to say, we left. We then found Hometown Pizza. IT WAS AMAZING!!! From the greeting @ the counter to the personal friendliness of the server we were blown away... and the pizza flavor was awesome. To top it off the owner (Steve) asked us how we liked our meal and asked us how we enjoyed McCall. To top it off HE WAS A BUCKEY!!! An Ohio State alum and from Ohio!!! read more

The pizza here is really good but the breadsticks are extremely delicious. Depending on how busy they are depends on if there is enough seating in the restaurant or if you need to just order it to go. That also applies to how long your wait can be for the food to be made. They have the regular pizza combinations and a mix of others and we have never been disappointed in the pizza we have had. read more

Pizza is pretty good, clean restaurant overall Ordered the six gun at 630 for a pick up at 9 pm from inside the store. The eating area was clean, although a bit on the small side. The bathroom was very clean as well. Pretty much expect to pay about 20 bucks for a large pie. The owner was present, taking orders and the place seemed fairly busy. The pie was ready on time and was pretty decent, with a thinner style crust and fresh veggies. The onions were still a tad aldente, which I like due to the extra crunch. The crust seemed surprisingly doughy considering how thin it was, yet the whole thing was cooked all the way through perfectly...just a little Browning around the edges. The meats were by far the best part of the pizza...there seemed to be plenty of meat without the standard puddle of grease I associate with cheaper meat pies. No soggy dough or greasy hands just good ol' pizza. I imagine this place can get pretty busy, so plan ahead or be prepared...but everything in McCall seems that way. You will definitely find me here again, maybe ill try the Greek pie next read more
