The smokehouse burger was excellent with a side of loaded taters.

The service was fast and friendly. The food was delicious and flavorful and the atmosphere was calm and very nice.

The pulled pork is out of this world. And did i mention the Huckleberry bbq sauce? Great atmosphere, clean and great service

Lemon drop martini

Good food, good lemon drop, excellent rustic atmosphere, good music. Definitely recommend.

What an amazing place! The old west atmosphere was great and the service even better. I had the smoked meatloaf sandwich with onion rings. Loved their color coded condiment dispensers complete with a guide! The only thing I was upset about was that about 10 miles down the road later I realized I'd left my to go container with half the sandwich in it in the gift shop next door!

Pulled pork Cobb salad

Well that was a fun discovery! Just out doing some geocaching through the area and looking for lunch. Discovered this with BBQ and thought I'd give it a try. It's lunch so I don't eat heavy but I sure enjoyed my Cobb salad with pulled pork. What made it excellent though was the sauce. Both the sticky sauce and mustard BBQ were fantastic. Service was great, price reasonable, good decor inside, cute store attached. Good find.

The brisket is unbelievable. The sticky BBQ sauce is so good. And, the jalapeño corn bread is a can't miss. Love the Mayberry RFD feel of the town. Highly recommend this place.

This is one of the five measly pieces of shrimp in the $17 appetizer. Don't waste your money.
Stephanie E.

Don't bother ordering the $17 shrimp appetizer. It was terrible and only had five small pieces. That's $3.40 per tiny shrimp piece. Ridiculous. We won't be back. This place has gone downhill. It used to be our favorite. So sad.

Sticky wings, loaded "fries", prime rib potato soup, and pulled pork philly

The squeeze and i split the finger steaks with an onion ring upgrade. A little gristle in one piece, but it's hard to find finger steaks without that. Good breading with a nice mix of spices. The onion rings were great, no pull out of the onion. This was pleny of food for two as a quick lunch. We just had water to drink, and they gave us our own pitcher. Service was great, and the server/waitress/bartender was really friendly. She filled my cold cup with a coke so I didn't have to stop at a gas station before leaving town. There are so many places to eat on the main drag, and I am glad we chose this one. Winner, winner, fingersteak dinner.

This is walkable from most of the motels. There were differentiating reviews but we gave it a 5* review because the service & the food were both excellent! It's had plenty of seating, many tables for 6, a pool table, a bar & several TVs. I had the Rodeo burger & it tasted fresh & was excellent! My husband had the 12oz ribeye & it was cooked perfectly to his request. I didn't try it but it looked sooo good! We came here late September & it started getting crowded right about 5:30. We will definitely come back in the spring on our next stay!

Our server Brittany greeted us promptly and was very pleasant and attentive to our every need. My wife had the Chehalem Chardonnay and I had a glass of the Prisoner. Both were served promptly and were perfect. We ordered the Pepper Jelly Glazed Pork Belly as it sounded very unique. A word of caution though, the portion is very large with two big cuts of pork belly. The jelly glaze and seared crust on the pork belly was excellent and tasty. The pork belly itself tasted very good, but wasn't as tender as we expected. We expected a much more tender meat. That isn't to say it was tough (it wasn't) or very good (it was!). However, this is very rich for an appetizer. It could really be a main entree! My wife ordered the special for the day, which was a surf & turf with scallops and a "Denver cut" steak. She ordered the steak medium (defined by Brittany as pink but no red). She said the scallops were perfectly cooked. Tender and tasty. However, the steak was medium rare at best. Brittany agreed that it was not medium and took it back to correct. When the steak was returned, it was better, still not medium, but acceptable. That's when my wife discovered how fatty the cut of meat was. A large part of it was all fat and not edible. I on the other hand ordered the 8-Oz Double-R Ranch Tenderloin, medium rare+. It was perfect, juicy, flavorful, and satisfying. Cooked perfectly. We ordered a side of Asperagus which was delicious, but again be aware, the portion was more than enough for two and probably could have been shared by 3 or 4! In conclusion, the service was impeccable (Brittany A++!), the food was good (but should have been great), wine was excellent, and ambiance is perfect!

Such a wonderful restaurant on the edge of Wallowa Lake! The…read moresweet couple who run the restaurant, Michael & Dionne, are second generation owner/operators, and oh so kind! From the moment we walked in, Michael asked the last name on the reservation and had memorized first when we told him. Vali's does one meal per evening, from 6pm-8pm and requires reservations. Everyone is served the same meal, with the only option variations being in drinks and the dessert you choose. The meal include appetizers, main course, and dessert. They have a menu that varies week to week, but that is always delicious! Tonight we enjoyed pork schnitzel, red cabbage, and au gratin potatoes! The pork schnitzel was perfectly tender with a crispy crust, the red cabbage cooked JUST right with a perfect amount of sweetness, and the au gratin potatoes were nice & cheesy! Our dessert options were between Pistachio Creme Brulee with Cherries, Chocolate Ginache, or Apple Cobbler with Vanilla Ice Cream. My Pistachio Creme Brulee was AMAZING, as was my wife's Apple Cobbler! The entire meal is such a personal experience, hosted by this wonderful couple that you KNOW want you to have the best experience possible. We didn't get to speak with Dionne, just received a kind wave from the kitchen, with a "Thank you for coming in!" I'd love to have Dionne come out from the kitchen to socialize after the desserts have been served! She seemed very sweet. All in all, I can't recommend this place enough. There was a table of eight, with four generations, that said they'd been coming annually for many years, and I can't blame them. Vali's and Wallowa Lake are a long drive from most places, but are both worth the drive. Exquisite scenery, wonderful people, and remarkable food!
