Stax for the travel winner! I grabbed a Skinny Tinny and the even toasted the rye bread. Both the bread and lemonade was fresh made. Plenty of parking even with the trailer. So friendly and fast. Among the best places to get food in McCall - at least when they're open. They have incredible service, and if you have children that go to the local school, they'll notice that some of their classmates work there too. It really gives a feeling of community. This place has some of the best sandwiches in McCall, if not the state. Their French dip is simply to die for, and their Bacon Rancher is to die for, reincarnate, and die for again. They make their bread fresh every day [at least that's what I've been told], and their soups are the same - freshly made. Their potato soup is simply heavenly, and so is their tortilla soup. My only complaint about the place is their break periods. During certain times of the year, they close up for some time. No reopening date given. Other than that, if they're open, and you're looking for a bite to eat, go here. read more

Long line to find no good vegetarian options and the "mushroom and Swiss" listed below all the meat options... has meat! At counter they didn't alert me to that, when it was clear I was asking for vegetarian. So it was $45 for two grilled cheese and the one veg sandwich, which was subpar. The food is amazing. We are a family of six and everyone's sandwiches were delicious. Highly recommend the French Dip. Even if you don't like French Dip Sandwiches normally. I promise it won't disappoint. Fresh lemonades were also very tasty well all loved the Strawberry Lemonade the most, but the original and Blueberry definitely held their own. Best Rueben sandwich I have had in a long time! Everything was made to perfection. Not all Rueben sandwiches are the same and they can easily go south if you don't first have the right portions to meat, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and thousand island dressing ratio. Also the bread has to be grilled just right so it melts the cheese. And my biggest complaint is too much sauerkraut that is wet and makes the bread soggy. Stax Sandwich did everything perfect! If you are in MCCall for the weekend or live here you gotta try this place! Five stars for me! We will definitely be coming back! read more

Fast, cheap and delicious! My husband suggested we grab a couple sammies before heading out for a day of snowshoeing. I can't think of a better lunch. Stax, as always, does it it again! My husband bellied up with the Hog (hickory smoked ham with premium Swiss cheese and mayo, topped with romaine lettuce and tomato, $6.59 for regular), and I the Holiday (oven roasted turkey with Stax signature cranberry cream cheese spread topped with romaine lettuce, tomato and sprouts, $6.59 for regular). The sandwiches were phenomenal, although I could have done with the sprouts on the Holiday. The ingredients were super fresh, you could tell the bread was baked that morning. The Hog was pretty much your basic ham and cheese sandwich but made with the highest quality ingredients. I'm intrigued by seasonal and off-the-wall menu items, not to mention I LOVE cream cheese. Aside from the sprouts the sandwich was absolutely fantastic on every level. The cranberry cream cheese and turkey blended like a firework in my mouth. Followed by bites of crispy Ruffles, I can't tell you how satisfied I was with my lunch. It was too good for words. Other highlights include the freaky fast service. Forget Jimmy John's, this is the lightning fast service I'm talking about! We were third in line to order, but remained in the building less than 10 minutes before we were out the door. Outstanding service and fabulous sandwiches. Highly recommend to anyone! read more

Quick service, yummy sandwiches with a good portion size! I had the turkey with cranberry cream cheese which may sound odd but tasted amazing. My husband ordered the Ruben and loved it too (it was gone before I could try it!). You can taste the quality of ingredients, way better than 'other' sandwich shops with homemade bread, fresh sliced cheese and meats. Outdoor seating was available and nicely spread out with shaded spots too. They had staff shortages like a lot of places in McCall right now, but service was still great. What a great restaurant! My husband and I ate here on our way out of town from camping and were delighted by the friendly staff, delicious food and generous portions. The restroom also was clean and spacious. The eating areas can accommodate larger groups, and seem to be kid friendly. There are also covered tables outside for sunny days and dogs. Let me preface this by saying I came to Idaho from out of state and thought Idaho would be filled with really nice people. But we were pretty surprised to see people being incredibly rude to us. I was beginning to lose all hope. Then I went to Stax. The woman who took our order was SO nice and was happy it was our first time there. She recommended sandwiches based on our tastes and they wound up being AMAZING. Being from NJ, I've had some incredible sandwiches in my life. But this takes the cake. The bread is homemade and is incredible. I had the Vandal sandwich on Sourdough - unreal. My 3 friends I was with said the same about their sandwiches. They even brought us out complimentary homemade strawberry lemonade because it was our first time. I can't recommend this place enough.
