Came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning around 10am. There was about a 10 minute wait for a table which went by quickly. There are not many places to eat in this area. We were seated and perused the menu. The atmosphere is basic and comfortable and appears to be busy with locals. I ordered the combo breakfast burrito at the suggestion of the server. Combo was not on the menu but it included all the meat options for the breakfast burrito, not just one. My wife ordered the steak breakfast burrito. Both came with home fries or hash browns. We both chose the home fries. The food arrived rather quickly and the portion size was huge. We each saved half for breakfast during the week. The bill was less than $25 with tip. We were pleasantly surprise by this hidden gem and will be back again. read more

I really liked this place and found it by accident. The food is descent with hearty satisfying portions. If you are looking for something healthy this would not be the place for you, but it's great for a quick lunch by yourself or with your family. The servers are friendly, but are out numbered since there are only two for the entire dining room. The place is pretty big so waiting won't be a problem. There is also plenty of parking. My brother in law and sister originally opened up this restaurant in Lemmon Valley! I think one of my brother in laws' friends took it over and it's still so good! Comfort food for sure! The food is always really good when I go here with my daughter. I would have given a 5 star, but the last 3 visits haven't been met with great service from the staff. You want to get here early if you're trying to have breakfast on a weekend, otherwise you're probably not going to have a very happy host/server. This place is cute and the service was great. I'm giving it three stars because of the presentation of food as well as the taste. My boyfriend got the Benedict and I got the Rio Bravo. He said he really enjoyed his meal. I took a bite of it and I thought it was okay but I also don't like corn beef hash. My enchiladas and the chorizo were very dry. The taste was okay but would've been much better if it weren't so dry. The portion size is also great as we both took some food home. read more

Despite them being busy, they always had enough seats for just about anyone to walk-in and be seated within 5 minutes or right away which I think is great! Immediately upon sitting down we were greeted warmly and asked what we wanted to drink, which came right away despite the amount of customers they had. My party of 7 were able to order and only wait about 10 minutes before all of our dishes came out at around the same time! I had the chicken steak and eggs and it was delicious. I will say the hash-browns could have used some type of seasoning of some sort, maybe mixed it with some onions, just to give it a little kick, but other than being a little bit picky, overall this was a great place to go to! OMG!!!! I don't even know where to begin! This place is amazing! I ordered through GrubHub, as I live pretty far from this restaurant. I have friends that live in the area and I always drive by this place when I'm visiting, but I've never actually eaten there. First, let me just say that the portions are absolutely huge. I'm always pretty weary about ordering delivery because a lot of times, by the time the food gets to you, it's soggy and inedible. This couldn't be more far from the truth with this place. I ordered breakfast: pancake, eggs, sausage, hash browns .. The works. I also ordered sides of hollandaise sauce and country gravy. The pancake was GIGANTIC and so good. The side of hash browns filled an entire large container and they were crispy and flavorful. The sausage links were perfectly cooked and fresh. The scrambled eggs were a little overcooked for my liking but that's a matter of personal preference. There were still really good. The gravy and even the butter/syrup for the pancake was amazing. Let's get to the Star... The hollandaise sauce. It was the best hollandaise sauce I've ever eaten in my 44 years on this earth. I could put it on anything. It was perfect. If the food is this good on a delivery order, I can't even imagine how good it would be in person. I cannot wait to tell my husband how amazing this food was and I can't wait to take him there so we could try more items on the menu. Hometown Cafe has great menu and the prices are reasonable. I have been going there on and off for 20 years and have always received high quality meals. One of my favorite items on the menu is the Cobb salad, which they do better than any other restaurant in the Reno Sparks area. They also serve homemade pies and homemade salsa. I often order a pie and a container of salsa to go. The cafe gets very crowded at times but Hometown Cafe team are always quick to get their customers seated, and once seated, the team provides superior customer service. Since the pandemic, superior customer service is hard to find in many of the local restaurants. At Hometown Cafe, your coffee or ice tea, will be refilled several times without having to even ask. I highly recommend Hometown Cafe for an excellent breakfast or lunch. I only wish they were open in the evenings for dinner. read more

Being the ONE place like itself in 1-1/2 valleys away, most folks just deal with it. "Country gravy" is literally made with cut up links of fairly cheap sausage links, and biscuits that seem to be little more than frozen ones from Costco reheated. Other than that, it's consistent, it's decent, and you'll never have to wait more than 15 minutes to probably get a table. The waitresses are nice but usually seem a bit preoccupied. The tables and restaurant themselves are always clean and comfortable. Restrooms are clean and decent as well. You probably won't be disappointed but I doubt you'll be amazed either. My friends and I went to try this place and I'm sorry to say none of us really liked our food. This confused me because they have such a good rating. My boyfriend got the eggs Benedict and said it tasted sweet and just did not much like it at all. My friend tries the corned beef hash at every place we go to and also did not much like his meal. So both the guys barely ate their meals which is extremely unusual. I ordered the Apple french toast, the flavor was great but my toast was like smashed up so it was so tiny and shriveled up. It was 1/3 the size of my friends regular French toast. Size and appearance doesn't matter a ton but it was chewy in some spots, it was very hard to eat and even cut with fork and knife. I also ordered biscuits and gravy and did not like it. The biscuit was dry, it reminded me of the biscuit that comes in frozen breakfast sandwiches that you heat in microwave. We recently bought these breakfast sandwiches for the kids for 6 am ski mornings to save time (and sanity waking up pre-teens early on weekend) and thought they were gross so I have this in recent memory. The gravy also lacked flavor, I barely ate any of it, and took it home thinking I'd try it again but then remembered I didn't like it and just ended up throwing it out (which I never do because I hate food waste). My friend she had the regular French toast and hers looked good and she liked the taste, nothing out of this world but good solid French toast. Their daughter who is just a youngin got the kids meal of pancakes and eggs, was huge for a kids plate! Lastly we shared the cinnamon roll. For me it wasn't a win either. The service there was however very good. They check if you need anything routinely, and refill water and coffees. They are certainly prepared and staffed properly for crowds because it was crowded when we went. But I always try to star rate on the food itself or mostly. A good friend swears by this place and I see why. We really enjoyed ourselves. It reminds us of a place we used to go to in Garden City, Kansas called Hannah's Corner. Staff was very friendly and the menu has a really good selection of Breakfast and Lunch items. We ordered the Cinnamon Raisin French Toast and Eggs combo (came with warmed syrup which was a nice touch) for my daughter, Country Fried Steak and Eggs for my wife, and Eggs Benedict with Hashbrowns topped with Ortega Chiles for me. Also a side of Biscuits & Gravy. I tried a lil bit from everyone else's and really good flavors. My Eggs Benedict was very good, the griddled pile of shaved ham was a very interesting change from the normal Canadian bacon. My daughters bacon was very crispy which was great cause a lot of places in town the bacon is not crispy. And finally the price. For everything we had including a hot chocolate and a iced tea came out to roughly 27 dollars. Not a bad deal for breakfast. With a 10 dollar tip it still was better priced then other places in town.
