Pathetic customer service and no answer to follow-ups! I have been their customer for more than a year for my Elgin, TX property an my experience has not been great. They don't answer your questions after an inspection even after weeks over phone or email. I attempted to contact HomeTeam Pest Defense both by phone and email regarding service for my Taexx system, but unfortunately, the experience has been consistently frustrating. Over the phone, I encountered representative who was repeatedly rude, constantly interrupted, and seemed more focused on shifting blame to the system rather than addressing the my questions. My attempts to communicate via email led to the same result--no accountability, just deflection. It's disappointing to see a company show such little regard for customer concerns. ZERO! If I can give zero star, and I will. Totally irresponsible, and no support from them after they collect the money. Having a lot of ants in home and family got bitten. I was told to not to use any chemicals, and let ants be there before the technician coming, and their technicians will come 7 days later. Then just a moment ago, they call me to postpone this urgent request and they want to bundle it with my next coming up service which is in 2-3 weeks later. They partner with your home builder to get your information and essentially bully you into getting service with them. They will seriously not leave you alone! I'm not one to leave a review this long so bare with me- I originally got HomeTeam because they partnered with my builder and installed their taexx system for free. It was convenient at the time but since has been impossible to get a call back. I'm wanting to cancel because the service just isn't up to par for the price you're paying. I have been trying to call to cancel my service and it's been impossible to get a call back or a straight answer. I was originally told the person managing my account would call me back- she didn't. I called again to try and cancel my service but keep the termite warranty which I bundled- I was told they don't bundle those items only for them to backtrack and tell me "oh it is bundled which means we need to have our auditor look at your account and they will call you back ". At this point the service has been so extremely unhelpful that I just want to cancel it all, which I'm sure they're going to charge me an arm and a leg for. Save yourself the trouble and DO NOT sign with them- it simply isn't worth your money or your time. read more

We've been customers of Home Team Pest Defense because our home was set up with the TAEXX systems and apparently it's the only company in Austin that can hook up to it. Their technicians have been mostly professional and courteous. We live in a brownstone property with no yard. They hook up out front to TAEXX system, spray around the garage doors outside, and the front door and in around the small rock garden that's 7 X 8 ft. The main purpose of the TAEXX is home won't need to be sprayed on the inside, so often, they rarely need to come inside unless you request to have it sprayed inside. Visit is approximately 15-20 min. for $129!! We had an issue when preparing for upcoming move and cancellation of quarterly service. I responded the same day but was told it was too late and all warranties are null and voided. I spoke to Sheryl and requested to have her manager return our call. I never received it. read more

I said I would let them know when to come back and we only wanted the inside of the walls treated not whatever was done.... I also asked to not go without confirming with me since I have protective dogs. They still showed up without a confirmation. Lucky my wife took her dog with her to here parents that week. Run do not walk away from this company. We used HomePest Defense for approximately five years. We had automatic payments, so they were always paid on time. We were supposed to have our quarterly maintenance in July, but they came on June 15th and supposedly did a maintenance. I was home and the technician, Mathew, was here 5 minutes, he was not here long enough to do a 'maintenance'. When I disputed the invoice, I was told that his GPS showed that he was here 38 minutes. I reiterated that he WAS not here 38 minutes. I also stated that my bill was always paid on time, why would I lie about this one time. When I spoke to the office and told them I would not pay for services that were not performed, I think but I'm not sure his name was Mark, he yelled at me that was fine because he would send it to collections and hung up on me. I tried to talk to their customer service at their corporate office and they would never contact me after several attempts. I finally paid the invoice because I worked hard to get a excellent credit score and didn't want it destroyed by HomeTeam Pest Defense sending my account to collections. They are rude, have terrible customer service skills, and erroneous billing practices. Please do NOT use this business. read more

100% the worst customer service I have ever received in my entire life. I tried to speak to them over the phone but it was just rude people over and over again who constantly interrupt and turn everything around to put the blame on the customer and take no responsibility for their own actions. I normally never complain & have tried to use their services for the last four years & with an understanding that mistakes happen sometimes. Just like the review before me, we had someone come out and service our home.... He was here less than 30 minutes and states that he did several things. My husband was watching him sprinting around the house doing his "service". The man states he did the weep holes, which we feel was incorrect because weeks later we now are having issues with ants all through the house. We call them back to come out and re-service and when I called, I was told that they were in a meeting and will call me back... I am waiting day after day, I call back, no response... still waiting- now a month later still issues. So we ended up calling someone else. Do you know how long they were here? 1 1/2 hours. They walked my husband through everything he was set to do and even walked around the perimeter showing him insight on what attracts these critters and how they operate. They can physically see the lines of ants moving their way into our home through the WEEP HOLES! He made the comment that no way did they do that as we shouldn't be having problems so soon and so bad. I called Home pest control to voice my concerns and spoke with a female who tried to say that "competitors try to lie about what other companies do, I show our rep did this and that" I don't care what your report says- they could have marked that they did this and as you say "lie about what they do" They did have a super call me and we were going to come up to an agreement but we kept missing each other- and now I have a collection agency calling me..... I was told that I could make payments and that they would not send this to collections- well who is lying now? I will now have to pay it because I have Excellent credit, and now I'm forced to pay for something that was not done. The company we had called after this one has been absolutely amazing and the work, they did is exceptional! it's been 2 months, and we haven't had any issues whatsoever! Strange, huh? The Taexx system seems to work when the service is actually performed. However, we've had scheduling and appointment issues for the entire time we've used this service. Due to our jobs we have to schedule for Saturday appointments so we can unlock our side gates and keep our dogs inside. Saturday appointments come with a time window of 8:00am - 5:00pm. So you're waiting at home all day and hoping that they show up. We've had several instances where they don't show up and we've received no call or text. Other times they've come during the week while the gates are locked or dogs have access to the yard and they don't perform the full service. Only reason we continue to use them is because of the Traxx system. If you don't have the system then definitely find another Pest Control Service. read more

I use this business for my quarterly residential pest control. They are not an organic pest control company, so if this is what you're looking for, look elsewhere. They do a good job of looking for outdoor infestations and treating what's within the scope of my contract. Generally, not much moves in the yard for at least a month after they leave. That's probably not a good thing overall, but I don't spend time in the yard and at least it's a first layer of bug defense. They also treat the in-wall tubing system, which is a great way to do indoor pest control without the direct exposure to the pest control chemicals. This has done a great job of controlling just about everything indoors except spiders. I have recently become aware that their three-tier service plan (silver, gold, platinum) has become a two-tier service plan. I've also recently found out that certain infestations possibly aren't covered under their contract (carpenter ants, for example, is a separate charge). However, I have the high plan and have never experienced an extra charge for services. Their service personnel are courteous and make their scheduled two hour appointment window or else call if they are late. The only issue I've ever had is that occasionally the appointment fails to make the books or is somehow not recorded. It only takes a friendly call to get things back on track. We've used HomeTeam since we purchased our home in 2015 in the Gaillardia neighborhood in Lantana, Texas. We've had the occasional spider make its way in but overall we have found their service dependable and effective. During very rainy period last year we had numerous ant hills in front and back and they took care of them promptly when we called. People are always nice and polite and have not had any issues with their billing and our auto-pay. We like that the inside spraying is optional. read more

Outrageous pricing and non functional pest control. I've been using these guys for 2 years but had to cancel last year, because there were ants crawling all over my kitchen. When I tried to cancel my pest subscription I was not asked why I wanted to cancel but simply "is it because of the price", no man it's that and more. He was also kinda rude about it. I bought a home in Cape Coral Florida and moved in September 1st, 2017. I was visited three times on that month and informed them I was not interested. They charge much more than regular services, even if I was a High School drop out instead of a college Graduate I would figure out they're a rip off! Then they have kept sending one of their reps for another 7 times. "Talking about aggressive sales!". Customer service has deteriorated for several years now. We have been a customer for 20 years, due to in wall tubing to dispense pesticides. They were expensive, but were the only ones at the time to offer this service. The last time they called to schedule quarterly service, they were rude, condescending and would not listen to our concerns. We have now chosen a reputable, locally owned, 5 star pest control company, that has been in business in this area for over 40 years. At a substantially lower cost. Very upset! I have lived in my first home for 3 months and they have come out 2x , they then called to say they were coming out again! I called and left a msg saying do not come out i cant afford it now. I come home and there is a $117 bill on my porch. Called 2 more times no response as to why they came out without my consent. Understand i am a single mom with a disabled child this is her physical therapy money! VERY upset ! read more

I had my initial treatment using the Taexx system and so far I'm very happy. I also asked for and received yard treatment for fire ants and some spray inside the garage for ants that had moved in before I did. My tech, Rachel, was great. She managed to pull off that unique combination of courteous professionalism and friendly humor. She knows her product and bugs as well. So far, no bugs noted inside or outside my house. I had their service for over 10 years continuously. When I got call for this quarterly service, I asked that instead of doing quarterly service, I need to get mosquito control. I was told that I can not skip quarterly service, I asked if I can cancel the service and was told I can do that. Finally after paying them for so long, I got rid of their service right there :-) . They are not cheap. 4 stars because their service employees (who came to spray) were professional and courteous. read more

I have been using Home Team Pest Defense sense 2004. I have the in-home tubes so I like the fact they do not need to come into the house. After the last time they came out I notice on my patio camera the guy open and then close the tube spraying. He did not spray and then left. I contacted the company by internet board message and a manager came right out to my house within an hour. I explain what happen and he went out back to check the tubes. When he came back he said all the tube are pushed through and he send someone out to fix it the next day. Well 2 weeks went by and I call the company back. Now this time someone came out to fix it. He spent about 30 minutes and then gave up and could not fix it. I waited for them to call me back but never got a call. I finally called them again and explain the guy was not able to fix the issue. Well they wanted to send someone else out. So the next day someone else came out and spent 5 minutes and left. So guess what... they still have not called me back to update me but this weekend another guy came out to do spraying again and yes they tried to charge me for it even though they did not fix the tubes and I did not request for them to come out. I still wonder how long has the tubes been pushed through? Did this happen on the last spraying or has it been like this for years and they just bill me for full service each time? I guess we will never know. At one time I would have given them a 5 star. But now I am being generous giving them 2 starts. It time to move on to someone else. read more

They are super friendly at first in order to get your business but afterwards it was like pulling tooth and nail to try to get some customer service. The technician that came out was super nice. We had some ants in the house and a ton of ant hills in the yard after all the rain we had gotten. He thoroughly explained everything thus earning them at least the one star. The problems came a few weeks after and a bunch more ant hills popped up. I remember they said they could come spray between the scheduled services so I called the office. No answer, left a voicemail. They called me back and I couldn't answer while at work so they left me a voicemail. The next two weeks I tried calling but its usually either early morning, mid lunch of after 5 when I am able to call so their messaging systems kicks in. I left over 5 messages and didn't get any calls back. Frustrated enough, I went and bought store stuff to treat it myself. August was my next scheduled spray and when I called in today, I was put on hold for 9 minutes and then when I explained the lack of service I was getting and that I want to cancel future sprays, there was no apology. Just "okay, what's your address and I'll cancel you now, good bye" and then the line hung up. Follow up: Home Team called me back just a few hours after the hung up and told me the girl that I was speaking to was still in training and they have been shorthanded during the summer but is now training office staff to get their service up. She sounded so nice and genuine that I decided to give them another chance and restarted my service. After all, I guess I did quit when I was in a frustrated rage. The other part to this decision is because the actual pest control service part I really liked. The tech was super helpful, honest, and explained everything. Almost every month I receive an automated letter telling me that I will be put into collections since my payment wasn't received... EVEN WHEN THE INVOICE WAS ONLY 2 WEEKS OLD. Every time I called them, they say "I don't understand why you keep getting these". Good news, I don't get these "collection notices" anymore since I cancelled my service (after 15 years). read more

HomeTeam has some shady billing practices, so beware. I paid $400 for a year of service (in advance). They told me that included quarterly visits and that if I saw any insects I could call for complimentary visits in-between the regular scheduled ones. It was all included for the $400/year. Well they lied. When I called to take advantage of one of my in-between visits, they gladly sent someone out to my home. However a month later I get a bill in the mail for $108.25. I tried to call them but their "billing" department is only open Monday-Friday 8-5pm which happens to be when I, like most people, are at work and can't always make personal phone calls. No email nor any other contact method is provided on the bill. Then it gets worse, they send me another bill saying they are terminating my service and sending my account to collections. So not only did they take $400 of my money *up front* and then decide to charge me on top of that, now they are keeping my $400 and refusing to do the job I paid them for because I didn't pay the additional $100 that: 1.) Nobody told me I would be charged. and 2.) I never authorized or agreed to be charged. Bottom line, stay away from these guys unless you enjoy dealing with unauthorized charges and being sent to collections for not paying something that you were never told about nor agreed to. read more

Luckily I noticed the email this afternoon so I was able to contact them and, again, attempt to discontinue service. We have had HomeTeam for less than a year. I really like our service tech, Mike. He is friendly and takes the time to answer any questions and concerns. We scheduled a treatment in between our regular service because we started having a bit of an ant problem especially after all the spring rain. He came out that same week to give extra attention to the kitchen and pantry where our ants were entering which took care of the problem. My only concern so far is that although I have a credit card on file, sometimes, I don't see the payment taken out. I was asked when I set up the service for an account to set up an auto payment, but sometimes it takes automatically and sometimes I have had to call and ask why the payment didn't take. They should follow up if the account needs attention because I just assume it is on auto-pay and it's taken care of. read more
