We first called HomeShield when we had a big problem with ants. They came almost immediately and they were able to get rid of the ants. That was 6 months ago and we haven't seen one ant in the house since then. They come back to spray on the outside every couple of months. They always call first, which is nice too. Jeremy has been our pest control guy for a couple of years now. He is always making sure that we are getting exactly what we need. We got our little girl into the doctor yesterday due to spider bite infection and so thankful for Homeshield whom scheduled a technician to come out ASAP the same day we called and even though our next quarterly appointment is already set up for the month of May, they still went ahead and did a courtesy run for us to allow us to have a piece of mind that they are here for our pest problems. Luckily we got Maan again as our technician. We were so happy he gave us a thorough inspection and recommended us spray the baseboards inside our house for better protection because tiny spiders and bugs can still get into house through electrical outlets and cracks. He says as long as no one is inside for an hour the solution they spray gelatinizes and is eco friendly and should not be of harm to our little ones. It is very difficult to write the first happenings of my day today. I had ANTS!!! My pantry was covered as well as the floor leading up to the pantry. As soon as I noticed this I removed and inspected every box, bottle and container pulling everything out of my pantry. I was going crazy. Called HomeShield and they did not have an opening until next Tuesday (five days). After several "holds", I was told that they would try to get somebody out if another customer cancelled. Not what I wanted to hear. Finally talked to a female, sorry I don't remember your name, who said a tech would come and he would call me an hour before coming. By 4:30, I was beside myself. I called and was told the tech was trying to call me. NOT! you can always get through on my phone. Long story short, I cancelled all services at which time I received a call that the tech was on his way. The tech named Mann was such a delight and a calming factor, you should make him president of our company. He was professional, easy talking and assuring. He walked in saying, "don't worry I can fix your problem and I am here to help". He was courteous, kind speaking and worked as I asked him questions. Great service all around. I have held an account with HomeShield for a few years now and have never had a problem with any sort of "pests". At one point last year, I randomly ran into the owner Ian and mentioned to him the mouse/rat problems we had in our backyard and garage, mainly just venting about how disgusting it was. The next day, a technician showed up with bait and traps and even made sure that they were safe enough for my dogs to be in the backyard and not eat the bait! From the office admin to the field techs, I have always received good customer service. Beware of this company, as they use fraudulent sales tactics and employ dishonest associates and managers. They will tell you there is no commitment to "try" their services (the first "inspection" and "sweep" is free) and if you are not satisfied, they promise that you can cancel anytime. However, what they do not disclose during the "sales pitch" is that you are signing a long term contract with Home Shield and if you cancel anytime after the "free" service, you must pay out the nose for a "cancellation fee". They even made changes to our "contract" after my wife signed the "free offer" sheet - AKA "the contract". Please do not fall for this shameful, unscrupulous tactic! If one of their door-to-door goons shows up at your door - just say NO! They have zero concern about creating a long term client or happy homeowner as long as they get their "contract" signed. The worst part about this ordeal, is that when we called to cancel the "free service" their office manager threatened collections if we don't pay $240 for the "free service and cancellation fee"! We are contacting our attorney today and will be writing the BBB and the Department of Consumer Affairs as well. Shame on you Home Shield! read more

after nearly 3 years, I had enough!! This recent 6 months has gotten even worst. The service guy never call prior, he decided to show up whenever he want and leave a note saying 'can't service the inside or backyard' no duh! Because no one is home!!!! This company is HORRIBLE! Came to door and stated they are having a neighborhood discount because other in the area are using their service and only charging $50 a month for pest control. The first time they sprayed, I had bugs all in the house and coming out of the vents. I called and complained and they never returned phone call. Then sent me another bill for $84, and I went to cancel and now charging me a $190 cancellation charge. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! THEY SUCK.....going to file a complaint with the BBB too! read more

I'm nominating these guys as Hero of the Year. We had wasps...HAD wasps! We went from one nest and dozens of wasps to 5 or more nests and hundreds of wasps almost over night. They had taken over our house and our yard. They were in the vents and the roof. We couldn't go outside. Homeshield came out right away. 1st treatment they said could stir them up and make it worse but when I came home the wasps were almost nonexistent and other critters died too. 2nd treatment we are wasp free. No wasps and no other creepy crawlers. I'm a happy, bug free customer for the first time in months. read more

This is the worst most unprofessional company. NEVER have them do a roof rat exclusion. One tech came out and asked us for bait, never cleaned up after himself then asked us to check our own traps!!! The 2nd tech wouldn't even step foot in our attic claiming liability issues and said exclusion work was impossible and to just not have any trees touching our house. So what am I paying $350 for " exclusion work " and a mandatory year long pest contract for??? Ian Morgan the "owner" never returned my calls. Completely unprofessional and total bait and switch. If my wife spots a bug she will call and they will be there same day. Their techs seem polite and professional...we've actually had some complaints about techs with other companies in the past (especially trying to up-sell on stuff we don't need)...but all the techs from HomeShield have been great! I have been with this company for over 2 years service has been spotty, sometimes great, sometimes not so great. Lots of turnover which I do not appreciate. Then they sent out my current service technician Mann Kendrick who has worked on our home for over a year--he is great. He is thorough, let's me know exactly what has been done, goes above and beyond if I have concerns and is genuinely interested in doing a good job even if it takes extra time. When the company does not follow through on their word on a recent exclusion work, Mann came out and fixed what needed to be done. Always with our best interest in mind. Thank you Mann. I am not sure of the pesticides used but I can say this we live on 15 acres in Newcastle I have a terrible spider problem . I have had them come out twice to spray and I have seen no reduction in spiders or no dead bugs around our house. If you have a serious bug problem I'm not sure of eco-friendly is the way to go. The technicians were extremely friendly and very knowledgeable and did a great job however the solution they use just didn't work for us. read more

I rarely write a review, but I felt compelled to share my poor experience with this company. We have used pest control companies in the past, and this has been by far the worst service by a pest control company, ever! The first month we had to have them come out 3 seperate times, because their initial service did not take care of the ant problem. After months of incompetent service we called and told them we wished to cancel the service. They continued to make attempts to service our home after we had called and cancelled, as if there was absolutely zero communication. Of course they wanted to charge us the early termination fee on top of 2 months of service when the pest problem we had, was never resolved. We have personally never had to have a company come out multiple times in the first 2 months of service. Understand that if you sign an agreement with them, whether they adhere to their part of the agreement or not, your going to be responsible to pay in full. Maybe others have had good service, but unfortunately we did not, so do business with them at your own risk. We asked to have the owner call us on multiple occasions, and not one time did he return our call, to resolve our concerns. Anyhow, to add insult to injury, they have sent us to a collection agency instead of taking responsibility for their incompetent work. Honestly, if it were my business and I had an unhappy client, I would not insist on payment for services that the client was not satisfied with, but clearly that is not the case here. read more

I have been so impressed with HomeShield Pest Control. We had an issue with carpet beetles and contacted them via Yelp. I received a really prompt response from Ian via email and then Jessica from his office contacted me to schedule an inspection. Brady came for the appointment on time and was aware of my issue. He surveyed the area and gave a thorough explanation of the issue and how they would treat it. He answered all of my questions and followed up for the treatment appointment. He was prompt for this appointment as well as and quickly went about his work. He covered all the areas and answered all of my follow up questions. He said if there were any issues in the 30 days after that initial treatment, he could come out and do another treatment to eradicate any remaining pests. Not efficient, charged me $100 to spend a whopping 15 minutes checking out only part of my attic for dead rodents, didnt bother to walk around and investigate it entirely and only found rat droppings. We have had HomeShield for years and have been pretty happy with them....Until recently. First problem, no one answers the phone. You have to leave a message and play phone tag. They do not respond promptly and recently it has been days before we receive a call back. Customer service doesn't get any more frustrating when you have an urgent problem. We have an urgent problem. They put rat poison in our attic...and it worked. The technician told us we would not smell them if they died - WRONG. It stench is horrible. Have tried to get them back out for two weeks with no success. I now have maggots falling from the air duct into my office, where the smell has been the worst. It makes me nauseous it is so disgusting. We had Clark Pest Control prior to HomeShield. They used traps and came back to check them every few days. I was looking for someone to deal with some tiny wasp nests and spiders. Called Home Shield for quote and within a couple of hours Ian was at my door. Wanting to encourage local companies I got the one time service for $ 135/- which came with a 30 day guarantee. The technician who came, missed a lot of places and we had to call him back immediately. He came and did a quick job again outside and inside, and we had to be out of the house for a couple of hours. When we returned, we saw that there were wasp nests lying around in the yard and a couple not yet removed. We have called Home Shield and even sent them email within the 30 day guarantee period, but there has not been any response. I am totally disappointed with the service and promise that Ian made. For a person who told me not to use a specific company stating that they do not keep up their end of the contract, I must say the same applies to Home Shield. If I could give a zero I would. They would not schedule appointments, they would just show up meaning we were not home for them to complete the inside of he home (which was where the issues were). After canceling service they continued to come (and spray they outside only) and charge me (auto-billing) without my knowledge. I had some of the charges reversed by my credit card company by way of fraud and again cancelled again via letter and to my surprise came home two months later to their truck in my driveway and I told him the situation. After calling several times (again) asking to speak to the OWNER ONLY they kept having a family member call back who claimed to have never gotten the letter. Again out of pocket 200.00 for insufficient services. This company is literally garbage, unless you want to constantly monitor their behavior which I don't I prefer for people to act professionally and for a FAMILY COMPANY THEY DON'T SEEM TO CARE MUCH ABOUT THE FAMILIES THEY SERVE. There are no words to describe my shear gratitude to the Cindy, Jake, and entire team at Home Shield. They literally pulled off a miracle. Other pest companies had turn times of furnishing reports up to 3 weeks after the inspection. Not only did they accommodate my clients extremely busy work schedule, they where polite, and efficient. When it came to them processing the pest report timing was everything. We where in a really bad time crunch with our loan and it was a matter of our client not being able to close his loan in time for very important life events. That would have caused terrible and unforgivable problems. Home shield stepped up to the plate with ALL HANDS ON DECK!!! They expedited the report ( something that no company has ever done). My first experience with Home Shield was good. The tech was good and friendly. But it's down hill from there. Service contract to spray every 3 months and I don't believe they have been spraying backyard. The ant's are very present for 4 1/2 months in yard. Wife defended them saying it's just the rain. No call or notification that they were coming for recent visit and left bill and notification on door that to reschedule backyard because of dog. Called them to reschedule and she was telling me that they need to fit us in and to lock our dog up in the house all day. (He is not a cat with a litter box!?) So they were an hour late for the appointment and when arrived rang door bell 3 times, pounded on door and before I could get my second shoe back on he walked around alcove to window and was shouting in through window. Walked outside and he had immediate attitude. Told your fired and go home, so he goes back to his truck and calls my wife. I had called and left a message with the office that we no longer want their service and they called my wife and said the owner would call her. She asked me to take care of it and so I called and they immediately hung up twice before words spoken and called from another number and then they hung up again once given our name. The owner does not clearly care about the customers in his customer service industry. I would not recommend to someone I dislike. read more

I'll encapsulate this as best I can and sum it up with one word, "Incompetence". We were with them for about 5 weeks, and in that time had two billing errors. The first was the result of miscommunication/misinterpretation in their bookkeeping department which we were able to resolve after three phone calls. The second was when a technician showed up unannounced when we weren't home and we found out about it when we noticed $97 taken out of our bank account. Upon further investigation, our daughter told us that the tech had come earlier that day and sprayed the exterior of our house. I called demanding an explanation and was told that they'd make it good and to call back the following Monday. I did, and reminded them that I was specifically told that we weren't due for our next service for three months. The lady that I spoke with said that our contract stated otherwise. Two people, the initial tech and the person that I spoke with about the first billing discrepancy told me that they'd be back in three months. Bottom line, the adjustment that I was promised was denied and I'm out $97. I opted out of my contract for four bucks, and was told that the tech would come by the next day to collect the bait stations that they'd placed in my backyard. What bait stations??!!! They didn't place any!! The tech showed up the next day to collect them, and they (obviously) weren't there because they never put any bait stations in my yard. The tech, not our usual one, rolled his eyes as if to say, "Oh no, not again" and left. I swear if they try to bill me for these bait stations I'll go through the roof. Imbeciles. read more
