SCAMMED OUT OF 7 GRAND I'm appalled by the lack of professionalism & integrity by employees of this company. I don't believe that my experience means everyone there lacks professionalism & integrity but one employee can tarnish the reputation & hard work of everyone. I advise caution as I'm now $6,412.50 out of pocket on a job that wasn't completed. 3/5- Jeremiah a "licensed" representative came to our house for an estimate on rodent control. We've been in our house for 10 years & want to sell it & make sure the new homeowners won't have any rodents. Jeremiah offered us 2 packages. The first one costing $6,412.50 would include all insulation in the attic be sucked out, disinfected & replaced with all new insulation. Also included completely cleaning the garage of any rodent droppings, disinfecting & patching all entry areas where rodents could enter. The 2nd package was $2,000 cheaper, which would include disinfecting the old insulation before "blowing over" it with new insulation to cover any rodent droppings & the same deal with the garage cleanup. Obviously, no homeowner wants to be screwed over so we went with the 1st package to ensure everything was 100% done right. Jeremiah ensured us he would be there the 1st day to guarantee the old insulation was sucked out & disinfected properly. Jeremiah also ensured he would be there the 2nd day when the new insulation was put in to make sure it was done properly & he would personally do the garage. 3/14- Two insulation workers came to suck out the attic. They didn't speak English which was fine because Jeremiah said he would be there to inspect the work & answer questions except he never showed. Husband called him & asked why he wasn't there. Jeremiah said the company never told him we were scheduled that day. Husband told Jeremiah we're scheduled to have the new insulation tomorrow & he said he would be there. 3/15- Two new insulation workers came & replaced the insulation. They didn't speak English, finished the job & left before Jeremiah showed up. I have no idea now if the attic was ever disinfected because I couldn't communicate with the workers. Jeremiah then showed up with a guy, never went into the attic & started on the garage. Shortly after, Jeremiah said he had to leave because he had a meeting with the owner of the company but his partner was staying to finish. A couple hours later his partner said he was done & left. Husband came home & saw holes in the garage that weren't patched like Jeremiah said they would be; 1 leading into the attic where everything was new & ended up catching 5 mice that night. Husband called Jeremiah & said the job we paid for wasn't done & he already caught mice. Jeremiah said he would return & correct it. 3/16- Jeremiah came & said his partner was a trainee & patched the entry holes. 8 hrs later, 2 of 4 holes that were patched had been broken through by rodents! BTW, Jeremiah never inspected the perimeter of our house for entry holes. Did we think to ask that? No! Because we have no knowledge with this, that's why we trusted & hired an allege professional. 3/18- Husband called to speak with a supervisor. He spoke to James who said he would personally come to our house on 3/20. 3/20- Jeremiah called & said he was coming not James. Now I call the company at 9:30 am to speak with a manager; I'm transferred to the 2nd unprofessional employee, Jane. I told her everything in a nutshell. Jane (who was professional at this time) said she believed there was miscommunication & said their employees aren't there for insulation. I said that's fine but Jeremiah guaranteed he would be there every step of the way & wasn't, so I don't want him back. Jane said she would call me back. 45 min later Jane called. I noticed the tone in her voice was slight attitude & her volume was higher. Jane said it's important they finish the job they started so Jeremiah & James would be there next week. I said I know it's important they finish because we paid for them to finish the job, but Jeremiah didn't follow through with the contract so I want someone else. Jane again said it's important Jeremiah finished it. Jane then had the audacity to tell me if I'm uncomfortable with Jeremiah at my house then I don't have to talk to him or be around him. (1. I'm not going to be told what I can or can't do in MY house 2. Uncomfortable? It's the FACT I spent 7 grand for a job that STILL isn't done & there's been 4 days where Jeremiah didn't follow through with his word or work. So who in their right mind would waste a 5th day on someone like that? If you would, then I admit you're a better person than I am) I asked if she's saying there's no one else to finish the job. Jane started laughing & said she doesn't know what I want from her & says, "If you want, I can have one of my branch managers call you." I say, "Yes, I would like that, thank you." It's now 8 pm, I still haven't received a phone call & still have entry holes for rodents. read more

Like I stated in my first review I would have given NO stars but that is not an option so I reluctantly give one star. Just when I thought that my experience could not get any worse with this company they have surpassed there awfulness and have gotten worse. After I received my letter in the mail I called into the office and spoke with Renee the office manager. She argued with me, called me a liar and threaten to take me to small claims court. After I was done not getting anywhere with her I asked to speak to the owner, Ian. After he was put on the phone it was all to clear why this company has failed so badly. Trying to have a conversation with him was like talking to a wall. Every now and then he would just say yes, or uh huh. Finally he told me that he would call me back after he talked to Renee to see how they were going to handle this situation, and would take my complaints into consideration on how they were going to handle this. Well surprise surprise he never called back and I had to call him back on Friday. He finally agreed that we would be let out of our contract and we didn't have to fulfill our last quarterly service and that we would not be charged a cancellation fee. I asked him to email me what we had discussed so I had it in writing, just in case they tried to go back on what we had spoken about, looks like that was a good idea. Well 4 pm rolled around on Friday and I still had not seen the email. I called him back and finally received the email stating that we were not responsible for fulfilling our contract and that there would be no cancellation fee. Here is why this review is being written today. Ian called me this morning and told me that he saw the review on yelp and asked me to remove it. I told him that had he handled my account in a professional manor from the beginning that I would have removed, and quite frankly never would have written it, but I don't want anyone hiring this company and being treated with the dis respect and the UN professionalism that I have been treated. Well he didn't like that response and raised his voice and threatened that if I was not going to remove my review that he would go back on what we discussed and that he would be taking me to small claims court. That he can change his mind and will see me in court. I honestly can still not believe the way that this has all been handled. I really hope that whoever reads this review takes it into consideration if they are thinking of hiring Home Shield Pest Control, Ian and his horrible office staff. We had home shield for almost a year and this was the worst company that I have EVER encountered. We were never called back when contacting the office. We still saw pests on a continual basis and when we tried to cancel our account all heck broke lose. We had to contact the office multiple times and finally the owner Ian agreed that we would be let out of our service agreement with no fees. Since our experience was so awful and one hand clearly doesn't talk to the other in this office she asked him to email the contents of their discussion. She received the email and we thought that this nightmare was finally over. Nope. The owner Ian called my wife on that Monday and asked her to remove her review from yelp. For whatever reason my wife's review is not showing up on their page but is still under her profile so I decided to write a review myself. My wife told him no that she wanted people to know of the horrible service and hopefully save people from the hassle of hiring this company. Well he was upset and raised his voice telling her that she better remove the review or he was going to charge us a cancelation fee. My wife reminded him of his email and let him know that now she would be placing a complaint with BBB. We received a certified letter in the mail stating that we would be contacted by an attorney if we didn't pay the $119.00 and that we had until the 3rd. Still we were confident that we would not be charged and that if an attorney did contact us we had all the evidence we needed. Well guess what they charged our credit card without authorization on Friday. We have taken the matter to the bank and are awaiting our refund. Please if you or anyone you know is looking to hire this company, take our advice and run the opposite direction. hired to get rid of rats in our attic. someone came out reviewed and said it would cost $800 to cover all holes. this person only went into the attic. next guy came out to patch holes set traps. he said the roof needs inspection and he is not qualified to do. will send out 1st guy again. After several calls 1st guy came back. Then silence. We called and there was confusion but they said they would send out another guy. He came from the Bay Area to Lincoln, CA. He did not get here until 3:00pm nor were we warned he was even coming that day. He said could not do the work because of wasp nests on roof, but would leave a note for next guy to bring wasp spray, they send out another guy from the Bay Area, he never shows. We call speak to a supervisor and are told he is in front of our house. We look he is not there. The supervisor says he must be lying. Lol really?. Then they send out the final guys to check traps and put boxes outside, no phone calls just a random show. We ask why would you do that before you complete patching the holes on roof where they are entering. They say well if I were you I would fire our company. That was from your employees. Needless to say we cancelled the contract but not before they charged our credit card for $262,00 and $92.00. We got them to waive the 1st one, then 2 months later they are calling trying to collect again. now they are still trying to charge us for the monthly service. They have terrible customer service and the left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing. Disorganized . read more

For three years, I refused to get a pest control service because I thought I could handle everything myself. Well, I think my spider roommates told their family, who told their friends, who brought their kids, and created the most elaborate web mansion spanning my house, garage, and yard. It was the envy of all spiders in the area and the bane of my neighbors' eyesight. If I swept the webs, they considered that a challenge that Chip and Joanna Gaines would be proud of and built bigger. Long story long, once the spiders started to wish me a good day at work, I contacted several pest services and was treated the kindest by Homeshield. Good customer service goes a long way with me, and the ladies on the phone were like warm apple pie. And when Darian arrived at my house with a big smile and a super positive attitude (even after he saw the haunted mansion of my house), he set about knocking down three years worth of impressive webbing. My house looked brand new, and because I used Eco-friendly materials, the house smelled phenomenal. Darian also sprayed part of the inside of my house before assuring me that he'd come back if I needed it. Well, some of the spiders hid out in the garage and have returned home. I called Homeshield and a new appointment was made very quickly with only a few clarifying questions. Darian will be back in a few days to do the garage and possibly the outside again. I feel badly for my spider friends, but their web condos were getting out of control, and since they don't pay rent, they need to go. Thanks Homeshield! read more

We are inundated with ants every time it rains or the temperature rises. I finally started researching pest control companies, but I have two rescue dogs with kidney and liver problems and was concerned about chemicals in the house. I also live in a condo and am attached to another person who seems to be the source of much of our ant problem, so there is no way to spray outside along that area. Most companies require you to leave along with your animals for four hours and don't seem to be able to do much for you in this condo situation. After calls to many companies, I found Home Shield and emailed Ian, the owner. Tevita was sent out to my house a couple days later to assess the situation. He is the greatest and explained that we probably have ants both outside and nesting in the walls and he found nests outside with literally millions of ants. He sprayed outside and then inside along all the baseboards in the entire house. He put a few dots of a paste at the edges of countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms. It rained the next day, but so far we have not seen a single ant. The dogs are fine. We did not have to leave and there is no odor whatsoever. Everyone from Ian to the scheduling people to Tevita have been wonderful and we are very pleased to have found Home Shield. read more

Thank you so much Home Shield! My husband and I have tried blocking holes that lead to our attic to no avail. The cute little creatures keep coming back to set up home and throw parties in the evening! If you have ever had a rat get stuck in your attic you know how awful it can smell! We called Home Shield and Brady Case came out to do a through inspection of the house both outside and up in the attic! We made an appointment for him to come and patch the openings which I could see he did very thoroughly. He is such a wonderful guy who answered my questions and explained what he was going to do. Also thank you to Connor who explained their program when I first called to explain our dilemma. We are forever grateful and I know if we have any concerns or a continuing problem I can call them. Recently signed up for HomeShield Pest Control because of a wasp problem in my attic, and since I work from home I was hearing buzzing above me. The guy that came out, Mann, went into the attic and quickly realized that the problem was not in the interior. He even snapped pictures to show me that there was so much insulation that wasp noise couldn't have traveled through it. He suspected the problem was exterior under the roof tiles; and he was right! He treated the entire roof tile perimeter with a long-lasting gel that not only killed the hives that existed but will deter future wasps. HomeShield earned my respect and continued business because they don't simply come out and spray; they take the time to understand the problem and come up with the best solution. I've been using Home Shield for the past few years and have found their service to be excellent. Their technicians are always very professional and courteous willing to assist in any way that they can. There are several pest control companies out there that do a very good job but for me Home Shield has exceeded my expectations by the way they conduct themselves. I have found them to be Honest and Trustworthy always willing to stand behind their work. I have since sold my home in Folsom and have purchased a new home in Roseville. One of the top priorites for my new home was to call Home Shield and have them begin service immediately since I now live in a new construction neighborhood.... I've been using HomeShield Pest Control for a little over a year (quarterly servicing). While I typically don't see the tech (sometimes I'm gone), I was here this morning. I noticed Brandon cleaning webs (etc) from around the roofline, as well as spraying along the back fence (which I didn't realize they did!). I was quite surprised to see that Brandon had also brought my garbage cans up from the street and put them back behind my fence. Now that's "above and beyond." Thank you so much, Brandon. HomeShield is very efficient - they text and voicemail a few days before they're scheduled to come out, and office staff are always very accommodating and pleasant to work with. I was referred to HomeShield by a neighbor on the Nextdoor app. I had what I suspected was either a mouse or rat in my home. Connor from HomeShield came out the same day I contacted the company. He was extremely professional, personable and thorough. The cost was more than reasonable; there was absolutely no pressure to pay more for 'extra' services. He came the following day to do all of the work needed. When I had an issue pop up a few days later, he came after hours to set extra traps. He went several extra miles to do what was needed to rid my home of rodents! Connor displayed a perfect example of what customer service should be. This will be the only pest control company I plan to use. I highly doubt any other company will be able to match the customer service of HomeShield! read more
