I've had this side table for 4 years... awesome buy.

I love HomeGoods, it's my go to store for decor pieces when I'm in the mood to redecorate my house. One of my fav furniture bought at this store is the Tommy Hilfiger side table. It has taken a beating from my kids over the years and only shows very minimal wear and tear. I recently purchased 2 8x10 rugs which I absolutely love but ended up returning. I only had it laid out for a few days and it blanketed my whole house with fuzz. I vacuumed twice a day, both times filled the canister with unbelievable amount of fuzz. For 299.00 a piece I expected better quality. I'll be back for Spring items but will stay away from the rug section.

Coming here is always a thrill since you don't know what's in store for you. New stocks every week. From kitchen to bath and beddings. They have it all. Lines to the cashier can be long but they move fast.

This store was fully stocked for Christmas. The inventory was a bit overwhelming. It looked like Santa had thrown up all over the store. There were almost too many items. There were wonderful Christmas tree items, candles and decorations from all over the world. You could even purchase a giant mailbox intended for the North Pole for over $200. There were creative and unique Christmas cards and unique decorations. There was an entire aisle dedicated to fun coats and costumes for dogs or cats. If you needed to store items, there were all types of decorative baskets and storage containers. I found a cute scrub brush with a cow on it. There were so many items to look at. The cashiers were nice. I didn't see any employees on the floor area.

The set up here is really nice with lots of great items. Everything was pretty organized and clean. We came here to find a cake stand, but they didn't have too many good options. We ended up getting a round wood stand which was on sale. The employees here were very nice.

Unfortunately the cashier was homophobic and I would not recommend this location. Disappointing.

When I checked out on my last trip, the young gentleman at the register kept yawning and barely acknowledged me -- it came across as lacking basic manners and customer service. To make matters worse, a picture frame I bought turned out to be damaged in the corner when I unwrapped it at home. When I brought it back to return, the sales associate spoke to me in an accusatory tone and insisted that I had damaged it. I explained that I discovered the damage only after opening the packaging, but she refused to accept the return. Thankfully, I asked to speak with the Manager, who checked my receipt, realized I had purchased it just the day before, and resolved the situation professionally. I appreciated the manager stepping in, but the interaction should never have escalated to that point. Glad it was ultimately corrected, but the sales associate definitely needs better training in communication, customer courtesy, and how to handle returns without blaming customers.

Anyway...while he was at his appt., I decided to walk around the shopping center (FairLakes Promenade). I had seen Home Sense before but never got around to checking it out. Finally, got to do that today. At first glance, it looked like it was a furniture store. Yes, they have lots of furniture but a deeper look showed there was so much more. There are towels, bedding, kitchen utensils, household cleaning items, rugs and decorative items. My intention was just to look not buy. However, when I saw the food items, I realized that I needed a shopping cart. Things that caught my eye...imported pasta, pasta sauces, spices, sweets and a cleaning formulation for shower doors and mirrors. Truthfully, there were other items that attracted me but I exercised will power. For example, I saw a lovely vase but my sensible side said "we don't need another vase." There was artwork but sensible side said "We have enough of that and only so much wall space". When I went to check out, the cashier was friendly. I found out, when he tried to get me to sign up for a credit card, that they are part of a conglomerate that includes TJ Maxx. No, we don't need another credit card! My haul ended up costing $35 plus change. Once we were home, I showed my husband my haul. He asked what it cost and was pleasantly surprised. Aw, gee! I'm so proud of myself :D So, no regrets for paying Home Sense a visit!

While at Fair Lakes Shopping Center yesterday I saw a Hobby Lobby. I'd never been in a Hobby…read moreLobby. So as an artist I came in to see what art supplies they carried. For this review, I will stay away from the controversies Hobby Lobby has been embroiled in, but note that the owners' conservative beliefs are off-putting to many people. The first thing I noticed at Hobby Lobby were the long checkout lines (only a couple lanes were open). The second thing I noticed was the loud elevator music featuring saxophones. The third thing I noticed was the weird cluttered layout. There really aren't any main aisles, it's basically a rabbit warren filled with cheap crafts and an overabundance of religious tchotchkes. Again, I came in to see their art supplies. I did see a row or two with a decent selection of canvases, but zero other art supplies. I saw one row with hobby paints, but that doesn't count. From what I could tell, there are no public restrooms. That doesn't seem very Christian to me. But maybe it was an oversight on my part, that Hobby Lobby does have restrooms and I just missed them. Upon leaving the store, I noticed the checkout lines had barely moved. Other than the fact that I don't live anywhere near this location, I have no motivation to ever shop at Hobby Lobby. Michael's is a much better arts and crafts supply store. Though, if I want to purchase art supplies, Plaza and Blick are my best bets.

Prices are comparable to other arts and crafts stores but i do find Hobby Lobby has better selections. Plus there is almost always promotions so make sure to check for promo codes and coupons for additional savings. The day I visited; I need to get some fabric and after deciding on the one I wanted; I had to walk around the area to find some help. After I was able to find a staff member; I asked for some assistance in the fabric department. She complained that it wasn't her department and that i should ring the bell that was on the counter. She could see that i was taken back by her response so she quickly quipped fine!... she'll help me. She ended up cutting 5 yards of fabric for me that took less than 2 minutes to do. I think this store needs more staff and more customer service training.
