Such a cute place!!!! Whether you are looking for home decor or a cute thoughtful gift, this place has a little bit of everything!!! I stumbled in here looking for a mirror I saw somewhere else and I was told this is where it came from. Although I did not find the mirror, I found so many more eye catching things. Even though the store is overloaded with all kinds of goodies it's well organized, so it does not appear cluttered in any way. If you're obsessed with stationary or unique home goods, go here. It's like the Anthropologie home and jewelry section plus the Nordstorms stationary section plus Pottery Barn Kids. So it's not junk. It's nice stuff! They have: purses, pouches, beach bags, stationary, pencils, kids' section, kitchen section, rugs, scent wall, Swell water bottles, gold jewelry... EVERYTHING. I started grabbing everything before I calmed down. I mean do I really need a taco kitchen rag? Not today. And I'm not wearing my other pineapple earrings that much, so do I really need another set? Not today. I touched everything and window shopped this store to the max. I did buy some pineapple dishes to put by nightstands x3 for jewelry and hair ties. I also got 2 drink coasters. But my wishlist included: the gold pineapple beach bag, the pineapple vase, the notepad with the cat wearing a crown, the huge pineapple art print, and the Hello Sunshine art print. Very cute store. Probably one of the best home decor stores in the area. Now they are a bit on the pricier side. But their furniture is so gorgeous and stylish. I don't enter the store to buy any furniture. I would love to though. I go straight to their cute novelty items. They have a large selection of gift options. They have everything: soaps, candles, baby gifts, books, tote bags, and much much more. Staff is wonderful. They're very friendly and they can help you pick out anything from the perfect rug to the perfect fragrance diffuser. 5 stars. read more

Just left this store. Walked around for 10 minutes and not a single one of the three employees who worked there said hello or asked if they could help me. The two women at the register continued to have a personal conversation and the other staff person stayed on her computer. Physically I look nothing like the staff. I guess if I had a different skin tone, they would at least say hello. read more

How sweet! I personally didn't visit the store. A friend surprised me with birthday gifts from here. She is so thoughtful and generous. So very grateful. I love everything she chose. The soy based candle smells amazing and the box itself has sunflower seeds in it. So you can put the box in soil and grow sunflowers :D The bracelets G picked out support various charities, talk about a gift that keeps on giving. 25% of the proceeds of each bracelet goes to charity. Love this shop for ideas and unique gifts, and I've ended up with several items in my own home as a result. They have a terrific selection of decor and serving pieces, and the kids section has high-end books, toys and decor items. They do a great sale once per year, usually in February before the spring furniture shows. Lots of markdowns on floor samples -- I've gotten framed art, a sofa and lamps at a steep discount. They also do an invitation-only holiday event where they collect books for donation and give a shopping discount in return. Some items might be slightly more in price than you could find online, but I like supporting local businesses and the team here has always been helpful. Note: the store is a bit tight, so leave the kiddos and strollers outside. read more

Waited over 10 minutes to check out because they couldn't figured out how to refund another clients money. Coming from the South with all of the niceties and helpful clerks I was in shock. Cute shop on the corner of Grand Commons in Fairfax Corner. They have a nice assortment of unique home décor and gift items. While it's not a huge store they manage to pack a good amount of merchandise inside ensuring a good selection. It is tight however with lots of breakables so I would not recommend bringing in smaller children or a large stroller. Associates I have encountered have always been friendly and helpful. In fact, they even offered complimentary gift wrapping of my purchase after I confirmed it was a gift. Nice touch! My one con is prices tend somewhat high, but this is a locally owned shop that is not buying things in bulk. Sometimes unique and quality just cost more. I should caveat that with - those that need nothing and generally like all that hostessing fru-fru, home deco kitsch, and cutesy but useless baby-ness. I've been here on several occasions and the person working there did not even so much as say hello. This is a big no-no with me. You want me to spend my money, but you can't be bothered with niceties? No. That doesn't work for me or most people. Nest Egg is the sort of Williams Sonoma/West Elm furniture store full of things no one ever needs. And yet, there is something about Nest Egg that is so inviting, so cute and utterly different. It feels more homey than the other places, with a nice array of candles, coffee table books and furniture. I didn't intend to buy anything in Nest Egg, but I fell absolutely in love with a book called "Doorbells of Florence". It's a collection of photographs of various doorbells in Florence Italy and the short fictional stories about the people who may live there. Like most stores of its kind, you don't really need anything in Nest Egg, but it's enjoyable to explore nevertheless. read more

I love this cute shop! I came in today as I was curious to see what types of furnishings and other goods this store offers. There is a plethora of side tables, lamps, candles, textiles, baby items, home decor, and other accessories. This is definitely a comforting home to unique, interesting, and well-curated items. I saw so many things I wanted to get for my friends! I couldn't find it in me to purchase something for myself as the prices are rather high - plates and trays were $50+, candles were $30+, and lamps were $150+. Side tables are about $250+ and were small. I liked a ton of things, but I'll make a wish list of what I want for others to gift to me... There was a holiday items sale going on where ornaments were deeply discounted. Everything else was at regular price, but the modern and fashionable styling was great. The setup of the store made sense too. If you're looking for a gift for a housewarming, in-laws, good friend or new parents, this is your store! I am surprised at the other reviews about the bad customer service - I was quickly and happily greeted today. I was also looking for something in particular, and the woman working here knew exactly where I could find it; she was approachable and could be found easily. Upon making the purchase, she asked if it was a gift, and when I said yes, she asked for what occasion AND wrapped it for free with applicable wrapping paper. What a friendly touch! You just don't get that anymore these days. Bottom line: the items here are expensive. However, you are sure to find an amazing gift that anyone would treasure. Hidden Secret to a lovely home around here. They not only have nice and unique furniture but have enough brands to cater to different styles. Too bad we discovered this store after we furnished most of the house. So, we ended up buying lot of home decor items from here and they have the best collection. Also, they have huge collection of excellent candles. Not a store for people who prefer contemporary decor. I wish they were still open in Brambleton. I think they opened that store little too early before the Brambleton center was popular. read more

Since I am woman who gives second chances and it helped to see unique holiday decor, I visited the Nest Egg this evening 12/7. Still there is no greeting upon entry in the store and it was quite empty. I was addressed after I walked the entire store! Despite the sometimy customer service or lack of bedside manner it didn't deter me from securing some really unique pieces. The cashier was nice and talkative about my great taste in decor. She took her time in wrapping the delicate pieces for transport to my residence. I look forward to the day that I can write a raving review for this cute boutique! Something keeps drawing me back! I was just there last week 12/2 to purchase a side table which is perfect for my sofa. Apparently there was a non private event going on that evening but I did get to enjoy the discount. We go there because they are one of the few places locally that sell Sid Dickens tiles which my mom and Dad have been collecting since I was a little kid. Let's get this straight: nothing in this store is inexpensive. That being said, everything is worth the prices that their prices at. Most of the brands this store carries are independent designers and that makes for some really cool and eclectic picks for both decor and gifts. As long as they stock Sid Dickens tiles, I'll be a customer. read more

The Merchandise in this store is high end so I expect their prices to be a bit steep, but I've seen the same products at other boutiques for much less. The staff was stand offish and did not help me at all, instead they stood and stared. Maybe it was because I was in sweatpants and they didn't want to waste their time and energy on someone who didn't look like they would spend a lot? This is plain ignorant and rude. This has some interesting items, but I will probably be not making any further purchases due to their lack of customer service. I recently went to this store to buy a pitcher and noticed the item was chipped. My boyfriend was with me and went to ask the sales attendant if there was another in stock. She could not find the item and said she have the manager call as back as to whether or not the item could be ordered for us. Despite her promise, the manager never called us back. I also just bought a new house and was considering purchasing some larger items to decorate my home, but will be taking my business elsewhere as a result. read more

I actually returned a purchased item I loved because of the awful customer service and miserable employees at The Nest Egg. They lack knowledge and told me 10 different things before the truth came out. They are rude, clueless women with bad attitudes. As a career woman myself, it's just embarrassing. The outcome was that I searched the Internet until I found my item and for a more affordable price, and purchased it through a different vendor. I'm happy and will not return to this store. read more
