This place has everything you could ever need for home decor. Kitchen and bath items, throw pillows, rugs, storage solutions, dishes, gardening and plenty of holiday decorations as well. I really went here to window shop because a friend recommended this place to me. I ended up getting an entrance doorway mat for about $14 bucks. Very large store. If you need help, you will need to ask them. I saw minimal people walking around that actually worked there.

I love discount home stores like Home Goods and Home Sense. This place is MUCH larger with a huge variety of items. They organized the aisles pretty well and the store was neat and clean. It was not very crowded but I also went on a weekday morning. The staff was relatively friendly but I only interacted to check out. I do think some of the prices were a bit higher than expected, compared to other stores, for what you get. For something like a candle under$10 the price difference was a couple dollars. However not all prices were bad. I got a cute glass vase for $7 which was still a good deal. Also they have A LOT of inventory. My issue with other places is they only have one of something when you might want two or multiple for centerpieces or something like that. This place has triple the inventory. I mean even the paintings and wall art aisles were impressive!! The stuff was also my style. So overall it was a great experience. Just wish some of the slightly defective items had better prices. Check it out!

I went to this location because I was in search of a very specific type of furniture. I had seen it a couple years ago in one of their other locations down south. I visited several locations in the area looking for what I needed and was unable to find it. I even visited some competitors with no luck. So, I had some time this afternoon and made the trek and wasn't disappointed. Found just what I wanted. The store was very well lit. Very clean and the merchandise and aisles were all neat and tidy with no boxes of stock or other items on the floor waiting to be put away. The display items were all staged very neatly and well organized. There was ample parking available and very easy to get in and out of the lot.

At Home has everything one could possibly need for their home. We first discovered At Home at their Manassas location. The Chantilly location is just as huge. Prices are reasonable for the most part. Some items can be found at a lower price elsewhere. This location is very organized. Employees are friendly and helpful. A nice place to visit if you're looking for home goods.

First visit to this retail store. Like the great selection the store has inside. They have a whole bunch of furniture stuff, home decors, ornaments for Christmas and other holidays. Also, little tech accessories, kitchen items, and other household things. Prices are a little higher than other similar stores, though.

They have little styling vignettes throughout the store

Large warehouse with basic house stuff. This particular location is just ok. Their staff are hard to find, and reluctant to assist. They often don't have toilet paper in the bathroom stalls.

Is it a wardrobe or a huge stack of cutting boards?

Every man for himself at At Home. This is place is great if you're decorating on the cheap. If you wanted something like an end table or a rug, you'd have literally hundreds of options. For some, this is stressful (like me, when I was looking for the round white rug, and nothing was organized, so after an hour I gave up and came home with an oval blue rug. Oh well...) But it is undeniable that the quality is pretty low for most items here. This is not where you go to buy a family heirloom, it's where you buy a life sized cactus statue because cacti are cool this week. The organization of the items is about one to two rungs above TJ Maxx. There are at least multiples of things, and they are somewhat together. It seems like they hired a lot of new people who are more helpful than when we were here about 6 months ago. When we needed help getting something from a high shelf, we were actually pretty surprised that someone got a ladder and helped us get something. But if you are expecting someone to order some item they don't have on the floor...that's like special ordering from a yard sale. That's not how you At Home. Oh yeah, and stay away from the dreaded mirrored furniture section.

When I checked out on my last trip, the young gentleman at the register kept yawning and barely acknowledged me -- it came across as lacking basic manners and customer service. To make matters worse, a picture frame I bought turned out to be damaged in the corner when I unwrapped it at home. When I brought it back to return, the sales associate spoke to me in an accusatory tone and insisted that I had damaged it. I explained that I discovered the damage only after opening the packaging, but she refused to accept the return. Thankfully, I asked to speak with the Manager, who checked my receipt, realized I had purchased it just the day before, and resolved the situation professionally. I appreciated the manager stepping in, but the interaction should never have escalated to that point. Glad it was ultimately corrected, but the sales associate definitely needs better training in communication, customer courtesy, and how to handle returns without blaming customers.

Anyway...while he was at his appt., I decided to walk around the shopping center (FairLakes Promenade). I had seen Home Sense before but never got around to checking it out. Finally, got to do that today. At first glance, it looked like it was a furniture store. Yes, they have lots of furniture but a deeper look showed there was so much more. There are towels, bedding, kitchen utensils, household cleaning items, rugs and decorative items. My intention was just to look not buy. However, when I saw the food items, I realized that I needed a shopping cart. Things that caught my eye...imported pasta, pasta sauces, spices, sweets and a cleaning formulation for shower doors and mirrors. Truthfully, there were other items that attracted me but I exercised will power. For example, I saw a lovely vase but my sensible side said "we don't need another vase." There was artwork but sensible side said "We have enough of that and only so much wall space". When I went to check out, the cashier was friendly. I found out, when he tried to get me to sign up for a credit card, that they are part of a conglomerate that includes TJ Maxx. No, we don't need another credit card! My haul ended up costing $35 plus change. Once we were home, I showed my husband my haul. He asked what it cost and was pleasantly surprised. Aw, gee! I'm so proud of myself :D So, no regrets for paying Home Sense a visit!

As we were discussing where we should start looking, Home Goods came up in conversation. Thus, we agreed that since there was one in Herndon, that is where we'll start. Home Goods is one of those places that has an ever-changing selection of items. In other words, you may see an item you like but don't buy it then and there, it may not be there when you return. Upon entering the store, we looked around to get our bearings. I saw a sign for furniture and told my husband that lighting would probably be nearby. That turned out to be correct. They had about three or four aisles of lamps. Much to our surprise, we saw two matching lamps that we both liked. Since we had never shopped here before, I looked for a salesperson to ask how it all worked. Do we take the lamps to the register...or what? She followed me back to the lamps and unplugged them, then put them in our cart. Oh...okay. Now we know, if there's a next time. The cashier was friendly and efficient. So far, we're happy with the new lamps, and we were pleased with the price. We'll have to take the time to explore the whole store to see what else is available.

He brought our…read moremid-century Broyhill Sculptra china cabinet back to life and did so with plenty of communication about our preferences on finishes and issues encountered, etc. Overall we're happy with the result. He is a very knowledgable and friendly guy. I was encouraged by his strong interest in the history of our piece and how it may have been constructed or refinished in the past. Once he started in on the refinishing, his work was very thorough. Since the cabinet has glass doors and displays dishes, he needed to sand and refinish the inside shelves and walls as well as the outside, and he completely took apart the door frames, installed new glass, and shored up the hardware. Being an older piece, the doors had some challenges with closing and always seemed a bit flimsy before the job, but after Drew's work they feel much more robust (in addition to looking great). I'm sure that working with these fragile doors was challenging and appreciate the care Drew took to get them and the inside finishes right. When we got to the finishing stage, Drew found a good solution for testing finishes in an area of the piece that wasn't visible and sent several pictures to help us preview and select the final finish. He made several helpful suggestions along the way about which finishes might look best. In the interest of full transparency, Drew quoted our job at 4-9 weeks and $1400 (we had another refinisher quote us the same price but with extra for delivery fees, so Drew's quote seemed fair). He turned the piece around in about 8 weeks and at the quoted price. He seems to have quite a few customers and due to other project obligations, he probably didn't start in earnest on our job until about week 6, so keep in mind that depending on conditions your project could end up on the long end of his range. This wasn't an issue for us, though, as Drew was very responsive and gave us regular updates on project and expected delivery timeline. Lastly, I think Drew's delivery methods could be improved a bit - transport is on a trailer that looks susceptible to some movement and bumpiness. One of our glass doors has a small and not very noticeable scratch that I'm guessing happened at some point in transit. Goes with the territory and certainly doesn't change our overall positive view of Drew's business, but an area where an upgrade may be warranted in the future.

For this review, I will stay away from the controversies Hobby Lobby has been embroiled in, but note that the owners' conservative beliefs are off-putting to many people. The first thing I noticed at Hobby Lobby were the long checkout lines (only a couple lanes were open). The second thing I noticed was the loud elevator music featuring saxophones. The third thing I noticed was the weird cluttered layout. There really aren't any main aisles, it's basically a rabbit warren filled with cheap crafts and an overabundance of religious tchotchkes. Again, I came in to see their art supplies. I did see a row or two with a decent selection of canvases, but zero other art supplies. I saw one row with hobby paints, but that doesn't count. From what I could tell, there are no public restrooms. That doesn't seem very Christian to me. But maybe it was an oversight on my part, that Hobby Lobby does have restrooms and I just missed them. Upon leaving the store, I noticed the checkout lines had barely moved. Other than the fact that I don't live anywhere near this location, I have no motivation to ever shop at Hobby Lobby. Michael's is a much better arts and crafts supply store. Though, if I want to purchase art supplies, Plaza and Blick are my best bets.
