We cannot say enough wonderful things about the Kitty Hawk Pier and the entire team who helped make…read moreour wedding absolutely perfect! First and foremost, the Kitty Hawk Pier made planning our wedding from a state away incredibly easy. Every single coordinator we worked with was friendly, accommodating, and genuinely invested in making our day special. Emma, especially, answered what was probably 2,839,028,392 emails from me and my million questions with patience, professionalism, and kindness every single time. From the very beginning, the entire team made us feel like our wedding was special and unique--not like they simply do this every weekend. The level of attention, care, and personal service they provided to make our wedding perfect was truly incredible and so appreciated. The food was AMAZING! We had several food allergies among our guests, including me--the bride--being allergic to gluten. The team went above and beyond to make sure everyone could eat safely while still enjoying an incredible meal. We had the mahi and beef, and our guests could not stop talking about how delicious everything was. We were also so impressed by how quickly and efficiently everyone was served. Every single employee we encountered was incredibly helpful, kind, and attentive. From the bartenders and servers to the managers, everyone went out of their way to make sure we and our guests had the best possible experience--and we truly did. Having the hotel right on site was an absolute dream. The hotel staff were incredibly accommodating, and our guests were very happy with their rooms, the restaurant, and the pool and beach access. The gym even had Peloton bikes! The entire setup made the weekend so convenient and enjoyable for everyone. I truly cannot stress enough what a dream venue this is for anyone who wants to get married at the beach. Being able to have all of our guests check in and be done traveling, have the most beautiful beach ceremony, and then immediately move inside to air conditioning while still enjoying the incredible views over the water was absolutely perfect. Having access to the pier for photos was also such a special bonus and gave us so many beautiful memories and pictures. The Kitty Hawk Pier truly gave us the beach wedding of our dreams. From the planning process to the food, staff, accommodations, location, and every little detail in between, everything was exceptional. We will be forever grateful to the entire team for helping us create the most perfect wedding weekend and would wholeheartedly recommend the Kitty Hawk Pier to anyone looking for a beautiful, stress-free, and truly unforgettable wedding venue!

The staff was nice enough to accommodate us, even though things were starting to book up and even gave us some breakfast vouchers as an empathetic "we understand what you're going through". The room was great and even the "no ocean view" gave us a very nice partial ocean view which we enjoyed. The hotel is a great location and central too many things you'll need for a family visiting. Definitely check out the wonderful coffee shop across the street from the gas station. One note for hotel staff, which I already provided feedback on, is that the staff attending to you during breakfast are very hit or miss. For example, when I asked for hot black tea, I was told they only had herbal tea. However, I know, for a fact, they had black tea as I saw others drinking it, and it was available in the rooms. Unfortunately they couldn't seem to find any, and I was given Lipton black tea instead, which was a disappointment for the amount of money we were paying to stay there the time it took for staff to wait on us was a Billy slow and each time we ordered the food that was delivered was either incorrect, cold or the waitress seemed utterly confused at what we were ordering or what we were asking for. I'm not sure she spoke more than a few words of English to be perfectly honest, and while I normally do not complain about such things, it greatly inhibited our ability to kick off the morning on a good note. Despite the restaurant, however, everything about the hotel and the front desk, staff, and the location were fantastic, and I would highly recommend.

There is a microwave and dishes, silverware and cooler with sodas and water upstairs with couches and games. Fresh baked cookies outside your room in the evening. There are absolutely things about this TownPlace Suites that I would like to see changed or that I…read moredidn't like, however I'm still giving 5 stars because of the location and the setup they have here and because I personally would go back without a second thought. First, some of the issues I have: The room layout puts one bed very close to the air conditioner and because they have the old-fashioned hotel style AC units, that leaves at least one person getting directly blasted with cold air all night. Using pool towel clips to put a towel over one side of the vent did help but reduced the efficacy of the AC and made the room warmer for everyone else. Breakfast is nice (and free) but the setup of it seems to be done as if this is a business hotel and not a beach front hotel. The cereal choices were all boring adult cereals, the bread for toast was VERY whole grain (as in it had pieces of grains in it), and the only milk they had was white milk (for example). Adding a small amount of more kid-friendly breakfast elements would go a long way. The outdoor pool is sheltered from the wind by the sand bank and gets really hot in the sun, a lightweight shade over the whole (or part of) the deck would probably be a welcomed addition by most people. As for what's great about this place: The location includes a beachfront pool + small snack shack with beach access which is directly across the road from the hotel itself. This gives the best of both worlds with beachfront access as well as having better parking and more room on the hotel property. On non-weekends the price is super affordable for a beachfront Marriott property. Not to mention the only Marriott property on the Outer Banks. It's very close to great food options, many walkable. Stuff for both adults and kids is easy to access. It's also not far to many interesting sightseeing or cultural things to see. All-in-all, I would love to see some minor changes but even with some flaws this is definitely a 5 star option.

Do not stay at this hotel…read more I've stayed in many Marriott properties over the years, but I wish I could give minus five stars to TownePlace Suites OBX. Infrastructure The website photos are completely deceptive. The hotel is not well maintained, despite being built in 2017. There are leaks throughout the property, and visible pockets of mold. The "Blue House" across the street (the beach access point) feels like an afterthought. There was only one deck chair, and it was broken. The handrail leading to the deck was also broken. Hygiene Poor. The interior is not properly cleaned, and both elevators were consistently dirty. Outside, there were empty bottles and trash bags scattered around the parking lot. Beach access Disappointing. If you're expecting easy, relaxing beach access based on the website photos, you'll be let down. You have to cross a street where pedestrians don't have the right of way, pass the poorly maintained deck, and then use stairs to reach the beach. Not worth the hassle. Breakfast Very poor. It's grab-and-go, extremely limited, and tasteless. Skip it and eat elsewhere. Service Unhelpful. We prepaid for a three-night stay but decided to leave after two nights due to the issues above. The front desk did not offer any flexibility or even a credit toward another Marriott property--we simply lost a night. Save yourself the headache. Stay elsewhere--areas like Duck or Corolla offer a much better experience. I'd also avoid Kill Devil Hills altogether; it's not walkable and doesn't offer a pleasant stay.

Of course the ice machine is out of order. I was awakened to construction men right outside my balcony repairing the patio of the restaurant. The best part was the bistro, but even then the construction men were right on the other side of the wall from my table tearing apart the outside wall. Plus there's a dining area and living room. Nice full balcony outback with a great view of the ocean. Wonderful breeze out the front but none of the windows worked to let the air in from the front. Only one of the elevators work. Some of the lights don't work. The living room TV has gone bad and often displays the programming as a negative image or mostly green in color. Side of the refrigerator has good amount of rust. The icemaker didn't work. The showers had decent water pressure and they have nice soap products. The food at the restaurant was good. The crabcake was good portion and tasty and the vegetable medley had excellent flavor. I was overcharged when I arrived for what my confirmation said. Hopefully that has been straightened out with my bill when I check out. There was an issue with the elevator the one morning as the employee said it wasn't working. This other lady who looked like a manager, was asking other guests about the elevator. When I told her that is your employee with the supply cart and he's been standing at the elevator and it's not working. She's responded to me saying "I don't know him. I don't know what's going on. I don't know about another elevator. I'm new here. This is my first day." Really? You start your first day on Easter Sunday and you had no training? There is another elevator, but apparently that's been out of order for many months. Thankfully, the employee with the supply cart was able to get the elevator back working quickly Lots of available parking in the open lot We consider staying again, but likely will try another place

Having checked out of our Air BandB place we had to find a new place. We found this B and B about noon, and the owner led us right to a room and we were in! When I booked The Loft, I was unsure what to expect as I hadn't read other reviews about it, so here is my take for those potentially interested in booking: The Loft * it is basically a one-bedroom apartment -- with a bed in the living room area and a bed in the bedroom. There is a microwave, a refrigerator, and a Keurig. You have a full sized bathroom as well, and a legit living area with a couch and a couple chairs. It is perfect to split amongst 4 people; you won't feel crowded! * It is a walk upstairs. You can get to The Loft using a separate entrance from the house. You do not need to walk through the main house to get to The Loft. We liked this a lot, for privacy. But, you may need to make several trips to/from your car if you are carrying a lot of luggage. If you are unable to carry luggage on your own, I'd recommend having a friend help you or, if you are staying alone, I would recommend a different room at Cypress. The walking up the stairs was not an issue for me and my friends, but I think it could have been an issue for my parents. * It has a outdoor patio area with 4 chairs around a small table, and you have a distant view of the ocean. It's lovely. The B&B experience: Bill was simply fantastic throughout our stay. The breakfast was delicious every morning. My husband and I are early birds so had no issue making it in time for the 8:30 breakfast. The breakfast was fresh and yummy! You are walking distance from the beach (like a 3 minute walk!). The B&B has chairs for your use, so you can grab one of those chairs and walk over to the beach. You're also walking distance from a few restaurants and to Duck Donuts if that's your thing. We tried Duck Donuts for the first time on a morning walk; it was ok -- to each their own! Tips: If you are driving to Duck for a wedding, please leave the Cypress 2 hours before your event start! We had no clue how bad traffic could get. What should have been a 20 minute ride took slightly over 2 hours. Apparently, it's just like that on the weekends (especially Saturdays), so you've been warned! All in all, we had a fantastic experience here and will be excited to return.
