Relatively new hotel but maintenance has been terrible, with already rusted out railings and interior things all over, dirty carpet. Several ice machines and both outdoor gas grills were down. They didn't clean up our room for three days and when they did, done poorly. Service was just okay. Breakfast was meh, with a small (and same) selection and always out of food 45 mins before closing. There are absolutely things about this TownPlace Suites that I would like to see changed or that I didn't like, however I'm still giving 5 stars because of the location and the setup they have here and because I personally would go back without a second thought. First, some of the issues I have: The room layout puts one bed very close to the air conditioner and because they have the old-fashioned hotel style AC units, that leaves at least one person getting directly blasted with cold air all night. Using pool towel clips to put a towel over one side of the vent did help but reduced the efficacy of the AC and made the room warmer for everyone else. Breakfast is nice (and free) but the setup of it seems to be done as if this is a business hotel and not a beach front hotel. The cereal choices were all boring adult cereals, the bread for toast was VERY whole grain (as in it had pieces of grains in it), and the only milk they had was white milk (for example). Adding a small amount of more kid-friendly breakfast elements would go a long way. The outdoor pool is sheltered from the wind by the sand bank and gets really hot in the sun, a lightweight shade over the whole (or part of) the deck would probably be a welcomed addition by most people. As for what's great about this place: The location includes a beachfront pool + small snack shack with beach access which is directly across the road from the hotel itself. This gives the best of both worlds with beachfront access as well as having better parking and more room on the hotel property. On non-weekends the price is super affordable for a beachfront Marriott property. Not to mention the only Marriott property on the Outer Banks. It's very close to great food options, many walkable. Stuff for both adults and kids is easy to access. It's also not far to many interesting sightseeing or cultural things to see. All-in-all, I would love to see some minor changes but even with some flaws this is definitely a 5 star option. read more

Do not stay at this hotel. I've stayed in many Marriott properties over the years, but I wish I could give minus five stars to TownePlace Suites OBX. Infrastructure The website photos are completely deceptive. The hotel is not well maintained, despite being built in 2017. There are leaks throughout the property, and visible pockets of mold. The "Blue House" across the street (the beach access point) feels like an afterthought. There was only one deck chair, and it was broken. The handrail leading to the deck was also broken. Hygiene Poor. The interior is not properly cleaned, and both elevators were consistently dirty. Outside, there were empty bottles and trash bags scattered around the parking lot. Beach access Disappointing. If you're expecting easy, relaxing beach access based on the website photos, you'll be let down. You have to cross a street where pedestrians don't have the right of way, pass the poorly maintained deck, and then use stairs to reach the beach. Not worth the hassle. Breakfast Very poor. It's grab-and-go, extremely limited, and tasteless. Skip it and eat elsewhere. Service Unhelpful. We prepaid for a three-night stay but decided to leave after two nights due to the issues above. The front desk did not offer any flexibility or even a credit toward another Marriott property--we simply lost a night. Save yourself the headache. Stay elsewhere--areas like Duck or Corolla offer a much better experience. I'd also avoid Kill Devil Hills altogether; it's not walkable and doesn't offer a pleasant stay. read more

The hotel is a nice TownePlace and what you typically expect from the chain, i.e. rooms with a kitchen, free parking, amenities, etc. So here are some items specific to this hotel. There is beach access across the street which also has a seasonal outdoor pool, snack bar, restrooms and a couple of decks that overlook the beach... very cool. However, if you're dragging your beach stuff in a wagon there are only stairs from the overlook to the beach... yup, you have to carry your wagon and stuff... hoping not to trip because it's a bit steep. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Lobby is on the first floor but not a big deal because there are elevators. Breakfast is very basic... they don't even have fruit nor a microwave. So, if you want to have their instant oatmeals there isn't a way to cook them unless you take it back to the room. If you want to eat healthy, skip the breakfast. read more

This hotel was great! Free breakfast was a huge perk. The place was clean and we had no issues. They do have an indoor pool at the hotel that we went to once. We didn't use the fitness center but it did have a tiny one. The price was that they had an outdoor pool across the street. This allowed for a "private" beach access for the hotel guests. They also had a little bar by the pool. We will definitely be back! read more

Our room was fine with the exception of one power outlet that didn't work and a missing clothing hook on the back of the bathroom door. But the bed, living room, bathroom, shower, TV, and WIFI were all very good. Breakfast is served in one of the largest hotel breakfast rooms we've ever seen. The offerings were a bit uneven. Our first morning there was Zero fresh fruit or cut fruit. On the second morning there were bananas and oranges. The hot sides were varied -eggs, turkey sausage, and the usuals. What was very nice was all of the add-ons for the cereal station -graham cracker crumbs, walnuts, coconut, craisins, dried apricots, granola, chocolate chips and more. Maybe they were a little limited on the baked goods, but they get bonus points for this morning's yummy jalapeno cheddar muffin. One awesome hotel feature is actually across the street from the hotel. There you'll find a blue hose with a gate- that's the entrance to the hotel's pool and the beach. The hotel's location is within super easy walking distance to the Kill Devil Grill and the Swells'a Brewing. If you take the short cross street to the other main drag, there's a bit more eating and shopping places to explore. read more

First thing to be aware of if you are considering staying here and missed this detail like I did, this is a pet friendly hotel. I was prepared to give this hotel a solid 4 stars because I liked the appearance and amenities so much, but as soon as I got in the bed I was overwhelmed by the smell of DOG. It would not go away. The room itself didn't have a strong dog smell but the bed did. Yuck!!! I am not a dog owner by choice, and it's not my preference to smell that odor in a hotel room I'm staying in. I understand the hotel's desire to allow guests to bring their pets with them because a lot of people do have them. However, there should be rooms dedicated to guests like us who don't have pets or don't want to smell their odor all night. I literally wanted to vomit because it was so strong. The comforter on our bed and/or the sheets is where the smell was coming from. It was disgusting. As for the hotel, it has lots of amenities and the design was well thought out. The parking is beneath the building and there's plenty of it. Outside you'll find two grills with prep stations, lots of seating, bikes which I imagine can be rented, an outdoor pool with beach access and a rinse station to clean up when you return from the beach. As of April 2023 the pool is undergoing some renovations - I think a heat pump is being installed and a restaurant is being added. Inside there's another pool, gym, laundry room, convenience store and breakfast bar. The room itself is equipped with a mini kitchen with a fridge, two burners, dishwasher, microwave, dishes, work desk, iron, sofa bed and a tv on a swivel mount for ease of viewing. If it weren't for the pet odors I would have enjoyed this stay more. That was a bit much for me. read more

I wanted to share feedback following my recent stay at the TownPlace. While I am a longtime dog owner and appreciate pet-friendly accommodations, I was surprised by the sheer number of dogs on the property. At times, it felt chaotic, with constant barking and even some incidents of fighting. This made it difficult to relax, whether we were in the common areas or simply walking to the car. Regarding our room, I was disappointed by the lack of Marriott-quality standards despite the high cost. The thermostat had been removed, leaving exposed wires on the wall, which did not feel safe or welcoming. Additionally, although I had notified the hotel in advance that there would be three guests in our party, the pull-out couch was not set up upon arrival. I had to go to the front desk myself, and the staff would not bring linens or set it up for us, either during check-in or after we were in the room. The pool area was another concern; it was so crowded that it was impossible to find a chair unless you arrived very early. As a result, the amenity was essentially unusable during our stay. Given these issues, we chose to check out after just one night and found a better experience at another local hotel. Unfortunately, I feel that your hotel is overpriced for the experience provided. I hope these concerns can be addressed for the benefit of future guests or at least warn people that so any dogs are present. read more

Don't ever put your do not disturb sign on your door for 3 seconds. You won't get service. Expected room service after the 2nd day. We are in day 3 and no room service because we had our sign up for 30 minutes. Was told when called to come get the towels at the front desk. Uhmmmm I am not an employee here. The bathrooms in the pool area and the lobby and all public areas of the hotel are disgusting. The one by the pool has had a clogged toilet for the last three days nasty , the floor has toilet paper water around the toilet trash in the floor, not cleaned or touched for the last three days. The bathrooms at the lobby have been out of toilet paper for two days and there's trash in the floor the toilets are nasty They haven't been cleaned I don't know how this hotel continues to keep the Marriott name. Marriott used to be really nice. This place is disgusting. There's dogs everywhere. I have not seen one person doing any kind of cleaning of the bathrooms , pool or laundry room . Well, I've saved this review of my trip for last. I figured that I would give the hotel a chance to make this trainwreck right. Sadly, at this point there was NOTHING they could do except give us a full refund so we could stay somewhere else....yes, it was that bad. It started out when we went to check in. The man at the register desk was very curt to my mother, who is a Titanium Marriott member after YEARS of only staying at this chain. Prior to the pandemic, this hotel would bend over backwards to make sure that she had an exceptional stay. Sadly, in this the post pandemic world of commerce, business owners have opted for greed over service. Not only was he rude, but he neglected to tell us of ANY of the amenities of the hotel, we had to find them out for ourselves. When we got into the room, I wanted to wash my face because it was salty from the wind & sea spray. Imagine my surprise when I found NO hot water in the sink, shower or kitchenette sink. None. Not even lukewarm. At the same time, my mom wanted to pour herself a glass of water, only to find that there were NO dishes (as advertised) in the cupboard. Okaaaay. She went to the desk to ask about this & was told this; They knew they were having hot water heater issues (and didn't tell any guests) and that the dishes were probably in the dishwasher & she could just put them away.? Wha-huh????? The whole reason you go on vacation is to NOT have to do you usual daily chores! This is why we paid the extreme price to stay here!!! The guy started the dishwasher for us as there was nothing in the room to start it. It kept us up all night as it took over 8 hours to complete. Well, we were so tired we figured we would straighten this all up the next day. When we woke up and went to have a cup of coffee....we found that there were no coffee pods with which to make coffee. Just a coffee maker.....sitting there....waiting for us to give it something to do. Nope. Jeez! I figured that they should've fixed the hot water situation so I went in the bathroom to wash my face.....STILL NO HOT WATER!!! My mom was ok with taking a cold shower but I just wasn't ready to do that. We went out to explore the OBX and were out for about 10 hours. We came back to dump the dog and go out to dinner. We came back to a room that hadn't been touched by maid service. At all. We had unmade beds, no fresh towels, nothing. Seriously. Nothing. My mom went out of her way to tell the front desk that she wanted daily maid service because since the pandemic the 'new' thing hotels are doing is an every other day thing....which is totally unacceptable. I guess the bright side is we didn't have to leave a tip. To try not to write a novel about the entire stay I will sum up the rest of the stay; We had maid service the next day, but they only made the beds. We were given no towels, they didn't do anything with the dishes nor did they vacuum. I found a grape stem by the dining room table....we didn't have grapes. When Mom asked again about the dishes the front desk told her that their guests liked doing their own dishes (really???). Additionally, the room temp went from freezing to sweltering if you just raised or lowered by a single degree on the temp unit. Seriously. We weren't told about the outdoor pool or the hotel's beach access. This was just an enormous waste of money. We have stayed in Marriott's all over the world. This used to be a world class hotel with the gold standard in service. It is so disappointing to see such a known and respected name fall so far. The hysterical thing is they offered my mother points to make up for all of the mistakes but really, who wants more points to stay in a hotel that no longer cares about service? read more

I knew that housekeeping would be lacking during my stay at TownePlace Suites from previous reviews that the rooms weren't cleaned well. So I was prepared with my own supplies even though they claim to do "Enhanced Cleaning" on the letter in the elevator. The elevator doors and buttons weren't even being cleaned. The previous reviewers were correct about the lack of quality cleanings. So those that did get clean rooms must have had different people in housekeeping that did a good job. Housekeeping needs to do a better job with COVID not less. If staff shortages are the issue they should only book as many rooms as they can handle. My room had fingerprints on the door; wall; and window that I could see so I knew a lot of other areas were likely missed too. The bathroom was icky. The shower didn't have much water pressure but then drain was really slow to drain. So slow that I had to stop my shower twice to get the water down so that it did not overflow onto the floor. Maintenance seems to be an issue at this hotel too. But housekeeping should have noticed the issue. Check in was friendly and helpful. The hotel has two elevators. When you arrive, you will be at the ground floor. The lobby is on the first floor so you will need to take the elevator up. The room was good sized and had a mini kitchenette. There is parking on both sides of the hotel and some underneath the hotel like a carport. Usually the tvs in the room have your name listed on the welcome but my tv was Welcoming Brenton on the first night and Peter on the second night. The hotel walls are thin; dogs are allowed on all floors so expect barking. Breakfast was minimal. Sausage and peppered eggs were available; breads; cereals; yogurt; bananas and oranges. Spent two nights here and enjoyed the facilities and my stay. When looking for a place to stay at the beach a clean, comfortable place is more important to me then being oceanfront.This hotel is located a short two block walk from the ocean. You will not hear the ocean from your room nor will you actually see it. You will enjoy the quiet you get with a hotel located Abby residential homes. The rooms are new, the facilities are spotless, there is no mold smell nor beach wear out evident. The AC worked perfectly, ample parking, daily in room housekeeping has started back up. The television had tons of streaming plus cable, and a shower with amazing water pressure. They have a small indoor pool but I wished they also had a hot tub. Breakfast was at no charge but offerings were limited. Egg dish, yogurt, cereal. No fruit, no waffles. My room was exceptionally clean. The bed was average. Compared to area lodging the price was competitive. I highly recommend you walj to the nearby Kill Devil Grill for a tasty meal read more

My first trip staying in a Towneplace Suites and I would probably stay here again. It didn't start out well because I was called 10 hours before my check in and was told that the king suites were overbooked and I was going to be put into a two queen bed suite instead. I was quite upset considering I chose to stay here based on the fact that they were one of the few that had king suites available. I was told to let them try to work something out and they would get back to me. About an hour later I was called and told that the king suite was available for me. I thanked them greatly. Just don't understand why this is even possible. They know how many they have so don't release more than that. When we arrived the property seems much newer than many others in the Kitty Hawk/ Nags Head area so that is a big bonus. There wasn't any issues with parking and even had some covered spots to keep your car out of the salty wind. When we arrived inside there was a clean smell in the air and the receptionist was friendly. The common areas look beautifully decorated and appeared clean. I ,also, found the room to be clean, of course, there were a few things my OCD clean freak in me found but not unsanitary. I was impressed by the size of the room and felt the layout was good. I couldn't believe the closet that had a light and shelving to help you keep things organized. The morning was a little rough start because the Keurig provided didn't work but luckily the breakfast was being put out and I was able to get some coffee there. The breakfast was the traditional complimentary hotel food. I would stay here again for sure. read more

I found this to be a very solid choice for a home base on the Dare County beaches. It's situated on Highway 12 across the street from the beach, so it's not exactly beachfront but very close. There is a crosswalk directly in front of the hotel so crossing 12 is no big deal. Marriott has a key-access entrance to their private beach access (with a pool, showers, and restrooms) directly across the street from the hotel. The hotel is raised on stilts, so there is lots of covered parking underneath to keep the car out of the sun/storms. Everything is very fresh and new, with a contemporary decor in neutral beach style and colors. They do a breakfast in the lobby from 7 - 9:30. It seemed a little limited in selection, though they do alternate choices each day. I'm not one of those people that's obsessed with hotel breakfasts and it could be that COVID is still limiting what they can do, so you might want to investigate further if that affects your decision. The rooms are well-designed and make great use of space. I had a King Studio with a partial ocean view. (The hotel's lot is deep rather than wide, so there aren't but a handful of rooms with direct ocean views since the building is perpendicular to the beach.) However, I thought my partial ocean view was still pretty great. Couldn't see the beach, but I could see the waves breaking and the water all the way out to the horizon line. I was on the top (third) floor, so that probably has an impact on the view quality. As an added bonus, I could sit in bed and look across all the beach houses to the Wright Brothers Monument in the distance. The room had what amounts to a full kitchen -- two burners, a nearly full-sized fridge/freezer, microwave, sink, dishwasher, complete set of dishes and silverware, big selection of pots and pans. You could pretty much cook a turkey dinner in there with no sweat. There's also a love seat with ottoman and some tray tables you could use as dining surfaces. The bed was new and comfortable and the blackout drapes worked well. Bathroom is pretty standard but has a nice-sized walk-in shower with excellent Paul Mitchell toiletries. Check-in was easy; didn't interact with any other staff members because I didn't encounter any issues that required them. The hotel's location is great, directly between Jockey's Ridge and the Wright Brothers Monument. The entrance road to hidden gem Nags Head Woods is just a couple of streets down, as is the excellent tropical restaurant/tiki bar Mama Kwan's. read more

This was the best place to see dolphins in the morning. It is located near things to walk to. It is not a heavily populated area. The resort allows dogs. It also has balconies you can sit on. I did notice a lot of things that needed to be renovated though. I personally would stay again. read more

Can't beat this place for location as it's right across a beautiful stretch of coastline with pristine beaches. So our first experience staying at a hotel since covid-19 pandemic and had our share of concerns. They have really gone de-minimus with almost everything. I guess it makes sense but we stayed for 5 days and not having any maid service for 5 days, was ahem, not that helpful. Free parking with lots of spots and pet friendly. This is my family's favorite place to go when we go to OBX. It has very nice rooms with comfy beds, and there is easy beach access for Marriott members. There's also a pool and a small restaurant by the pool so parents can watch their kids swim while getting something to eat or drink. The complimentary breakfast is also very good. Bottom Line: The perfect setup for a long weekend in the "shoulder season" or off-season. Hooray that there is finally a Marriott property in the Outer Banks! Opened around early Summer 2019 TownePlace Suites is in a terrific location on the southern edge of Kill Devil Hills at MP 10. As the name implies, the property features beach friendly suites. We had a King Suite which had a nice bathroom with a walk in shower, a refrigerator and freezer, a microwave, a two burner stove, a toaster and a Keurig coffee maker. Heck, we even had a garbage disposer which is rare in the Outer Banks. I liked the beach friendly finishes like lots of towel hooks and water proof high-end vinyl flooring. The light grey, sand, aqua and white color palette was also beach appropriate. As far as the location goes, I love it for the off-season. For the high season I prefer to be further south where it's a bit less busy. Plus this hotel doesn't have an outdoor pool or much outdoor lounging space which I would be craving in the summer. But let's cover why this is still a good location - The Nags Head 8th Street Public Beach access is just 50 yards away. Many of my favorite restaurants are nearby too. I recommend Jack Browns, Kill Devil Grill, Tortuga's Lie, Red Drum, Rooster's Southern Kitchen and Duck Donuts. Also, Harris Teeter and the Dollar Tree are conveniently just across the highway and are a good stop for groceries, paper plates, laundry detergent and such. Amenities include a small indoor pool and a decent gym. Expect the pool to be packed full of kids and plenty of sand. They do clean the pool every morning buts is very "beachy" by afternoon it seems. There is breakfast every morning which is convenient for something quick but the quality is very average. There are two outdoor foot rinse areas when approaching the hotel from the beach. For those wanting to cook out, there are a few grills and outdoor seating. There is plenty of parking, some of which is covered. There are only a handful of rooms with partial ocean views as most rooms face the east or west. We enjoyed a west facing view with the Wright Brothers Memorial in the distance. The only issue we had with this hotel was housekeeping. I'm a Marriott Lifetime member which means I stay in hotels many nights a year and I encountered issues with our room that I've never seen. I addressed those issues with the manager and they were resolved to my satisfaction so no need to go into that nitty gritty here. As a whole, the hotel was very clean and I am sure keeping it sand-free is no easy feat! Overall, we had a really enjoyable stay at this hotel and would stay here again in the off season. read more

I'm going to break it down and in the end tell you why it is 4 not 5 stars. Pros: Hotel is very nice, above average. It's got a clean coastal feel and decor and they obviously work hard to keep the common space clean and beautiful. The rooms are spacious and very functional. I was impressed by how modular it was with a table that rolls out from the desk and can be used as a dining table. The ottoman can also be used as a coffee table. The couch is also a bed (which is common but still very useful). I also love that it is pet friendly but does not LOOK like pets run the place. Like I said, very clean. Had an area of grass with doggy bag and trash station. Plenty of common areas outside to enjoy the weather. Would have loved to have time and just hang out and relax. Cons: free breakfast is somewhat lacking. There is cereal, a couple fruit, yogurt, coffee, tea, juice, packaged muffins and eggs and sausage. Would love to have maybe bagels and fresh bread with cream cheese. Nothing fancy. Maybe post COVID will see a waffle maker again... one can only hope. Finally, the staff. Usually friendly. At least civil, but is this really what you want to see when on vacation? I honestly was disappointed most at check out. I was the only one who approached the counter, there were three ladies and none of them greeted me or tell me they needed a moment. One lady gave me a brief eye contact and proceeded to pick up the phone. Not a word. I continued to patiently wait in front of the front desk when a gentleman proceeded to walk up to the desk and make a request. The other lady helped him without hesitation and when they were finally done she asked me if I needed something ( after standing there there for several minutes). Now, I'm not going to make judgements that Marriott stands for treating their clients differently which is why I'm not giving this place a poorer rating. Maybe it likely this particular staff that chose to ignore me and not someone else but it really places a bad taste in my mouth and dampens what was a very lovely trip to the outer banks. read more

My first time with this Marriot brand. Located across the street from the beach access, it was an easy walk over to the water. Surprisingly, the beach was empty but for a few fisherman, we had it all to ourselves for a early morning walk. As the name implies, the rooms are set up with a mini kitchen, nice touch to save money for extended stay guests. Room was spacious and clean, bed was very comfy. Front desk staff was friendly and happy, pretty much a Marriot standard. Breakfast was simple, but good. Coffee was hot and strong. Pricing was fair, considering the summer season and beach location. We had 4 nights booked and left after two, it was that bad. First, this hotel has no beach access as advertised and it's not on the beach. You have to drag your stuff to the public access and enter that way. It's fine if a hotel doesn't have access but don't advertise it or price your rooms that way. We paid for a partial ocean view and weren't able to see the ocean from our window. Maybe if we were 7 feet tall but nada for my 5 foot self or my 6 foot husband. Most importantly my room wasn't clean when I arrived. There was food on the floor from the prior stay, someone else's earplugs and the room was dirty. Went to the desk to get a room change and they are sold out with no options other than for us to clean the room ourselves or she would clean the room for me. They were really unorganized and slow at the desk and we had just driven 11 hours so we were in no mood to wait another hour or so when it should have been done already. I asked for a discount since I had to do it myself and she offered 1700 points which was a joke. I said no way so a manager was supposed to contact me in the morning to discuss more but no surprise that didn't happen. They also promised a deep clean that next morning and they never showed up to do that. I'll be contacting Marriott Corporate about this when our travels are over if I have time. Further, if you have a dog allergy this place is overrun with dogs like I've never seen and I've spent thousands of nights in a hotel. The halls and elevators smell awful. We used the stairs constantly even though I had surgery a few weeks ago and shouldn't have but I couldn't stand the smell. The happiest moment was leaving this morning and knowing I never have to return. The staff who checked me out never asked how my stay was or I would have expressed my discontent. Horrible manager. Asked the front desk staff multiple times if the manager was available to speak to. Never available. Asked for my phone # which I provided. No return call. I simply waned to let her know about the mold in my shower, the UFO sound coming from the walls, and the panties found in my room. Half the staff can't speak a lick English. Just terrible that she couldn't bother to call me. She is pulling wool over everyone's eyes and I truly feel bad for the owner and anyone who is already booked into this hotel. People are so predictable in their reviews. You'll get "loved it", "hated it", "it was okay". You don't know these people. Are they glass half full or glass half empty kind of folks? I'm now retired after nearly 50 years in the hospitality industry - many of those years designing, arranging and escorting corporate incentive groups. I've been in a LOT of hotels. I am very discerning as to what to expect from properties - their price, their location, their amenities. I was in Nags Head for a funeral, but that didn't mean I didn't inspect every inch of my accommodation. My room (2 queen beds) was very large (much bigger than at least some of the king rooms), very well appointed, and very clean. You know, that's what I look for in a hotel. The breakfast was included in the price, but if you're looking for great breakfast fare - go to a restaurant. I had toast, sausage and cereal. Something to rave about? No. Something to bitch about? Absolutely not. I'm a smoker and it was pretty chilly outside. Know what I liked? The outdoor fireplace was inviting and comfortable. For people staying more than a day or two, there are two great bbq grills with prep and service area attached. Loads of tables and chairs right by them should you want to have your meal alfresco. Upstairs, in your room, there's a full kitchen including built in microwave for warm ups and pots, pans, cutlery and utensils for cooking. If you're visiting there in-season and going to the beach, remember, you're bringing the sand in with you and, if you've ever had to clean your car after a day at the seashore, hard to catch every little grain. As I checked out the agent at the desk asked me about my stay, wanting to get feedback. You can tell I had nothing really negative to say. It turned out the agent was actually the GM, Michael Lewis. He was engaging and interested in my experience. I would tell you that if you stay here and have a problem, this is a man who would want to hear about it. At the end here I hate to have a negative to report, but here it is - I didn't like the coffee supplied in the room. But that's just me. Great stay! read more

Nice hotel really close to the beach (not right on the beach but walking distance). Our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was large and there was plenty of space in the shower which I love. Checking in was easy however finding the lobby was a bit tricky (go inside and take stairs or elevator to level 1). The pool was very tiny and really not a good size for how big the hotel is. I mean the hotel isn't huge but they could have went a bit bigger on the pool. They have an outside deck with some gas grills and tables which was nice. Breakfast was super sad (stale muffins, banana, juice). I think for the price of this hotel they could have provided a better breakfast but oh well. Overall we enjoyed our stay. read more

This has only been opened for 2 weeks and was across the street from the beach. You do have the option of parking car at the beach if you have lots to carry and it's free public parking, but get there early before all parking is gone. Though there are many areas to find public access. The staff at hotel were very helpful. Morning complimentary breakfast was exact same every day. Eggs, bagels, muffins, make your own waffles. The coffee was the highlight for me. Excellent! The gals who refilled buffet always were cheerful and worked their tails off. They also have keurig in room. The kitchen has full refrigerator, a toaster, microwave, small 2 burner cook top but no oven. Could use a step stool to reach the cupboards. They only have an indoor pool but was told they plan on putting in an outdoor pool in the future. They also have 2 gas grills and utensils for the asking. My only complaints. The picture of the studio room shows a separate area with pull out sofa bed. Not the case, it is in same room as the king bed and way too small of an area when pulled out into bed. The beds however were very comfy. Some guests we spoke to complained about hot water but we had no issues. Shower was great imo. Also, not sound proof as the last night we were there, I swear there was an elephant above us! We were on the first floor, glad to have stairs as the elevators were a bit slow. This is my go to hotel in the outer banks. It be stayed here many times, and the rooms are always cool, clean and super comfy. Many have great views of the ocean. There is a beach club across the street w a pool, tiki bar, showers, and wooden boardwalk to the beach, with 2 spectacular viewing platforms. Plenty of parking. Laundry. Outdoor grills. Bikes. All of it. Above all - the staff is consistently wonderful. I've stayed at many Marriots and this one on the outer banks has the kindest, most accommodating and helpful staff in every department to rival any of the city Marriott hotels. As a Hilton loyalist I was impressed. Fun place and beautiful hotel! Little bit confused by some of the poor reviews here though. Upset that other people have dogs?... but that's Yelp for ya! For this stay I'm giving it 4 STARS but can see this being a SOLID A+ after COVID19 (5 STARS) Very close to the beach but not on the beach. Its a short walk. I think very few rooms have ocean view. We had a slight ocean view but interesting land views! I want to get a place here now! No outdoor seating from any room. AWESOME: - THE SHOWER (more on that in the room section)... - Close beach access (walking distance); Very close drive to grocery stores, shops, and some restaurants (some of those within walking distance) - Parking: plenty - HOTEL GORGEOUS - Pool itself was WARM, clean, and down right refreshing.. I had it to myself and did a nice long swim - WOW what a great workout room for TPS (didn't not use.. just admired on this trip.. hey I walked miles on the beach... don't judge ;-) ) - Nice laundry area that doesn't require quarters HOTEL - Gorgeous decor, theme, and accommodations - Pool, gym, and laundry room at Ground level - Lobby on 1st floor - Plenty of free parking! - Elevators were fast which was good during COVID19 (rode single with family on many trips or took stairs) ROOM - We stayed in a King Bedroom with a sofa bed for my wife, I and son; It got claustrophobic when the sofa bed was pulled out and I had to crawl over it to get to the bathroom. - No carpet; laminated "wood" floor; makes sense being near a beach but no broom available! - Bed and sleeping excellent as usual - Everything modern - Closet unique (and definitely modern) - Room size overall was small; not sure I would add a sofa bed here; had to crawl over people to get to the bathroom - The shower was large, modern with glass door, hot and adjustable in many ways... very refreshing... they are going with the push pump soap and shampoo.. which I didn't mind (annoyed with at first).. higher quality Paul Mitchell stuff... Everyone agreed this was the best feature of the room... lol - TV had great HD quality channels... I only used to monitor the weather... - Internet was A++ (especially for a Gold member ;-) ) Service: - Good not great; No room cleaning or fresh towels; we were only there for 2 nights so we managed (you could call if needed) - Staff was not very friendly during check in - No broom in the room; you need that with the sand Disappointed: - No breakfast at all (when the past Marriott we stayed in right before this had Grab-and-go stuff) - Nice dining and modern area we didn't use The Nasty: - The pool floor was disgusting with hair, dirt, etc. NOTES: - Dogs allowed (bags available for pickup duty) - Most people wore masks not all Overall.. Came here for a little getaway with the husband . Nice location , Nice room and comfortable beds but no hot water ! Didn't bother me as much. Water was warm but would have liked it hotter ! This seem to be an issue cause when complained to the front desk about it they said it was on ongoing issue and having a hard time with parts. Husband was not happy about it. Maybe they should give us a heads up or reduce the rate somewhat?!? read more

I am very satisfied with this hotel. It's clean (most important ), quiet, and close to the beach, complete kitchen appliances and keurig coffee maker (yas!!) one thing I was disappointed was the front desk customer service respond. As I checked in, I was mesmerized how clean the hotel is and saw the breakfast area , and saying "uuuh free breakfast " with excitement to the front desk and she replied "no breakfast , just coffee". Well,being a 5 yo in 35 yo body who imagining breakfast out of nowhere , can you say it nicely . I understand it's COVID-19 but girl , it's how you saying it. The hotel is a 5 star. New place, close to beach, centrally located. However I'm dinging them because I called them the day after I got home and can't believe how rude the front desk lady was. I think I left my vaccine card in the room. I was informed they would shred it and not call. When I seemed surprised by that the young lady offered she wasn't vaccinated and they don't call for anything ever left in the room, which I don't appreciate.
