The rooms are spacious, very clean, full kitchen, large bathroom, very very comfortable bed, living room, dinning room, a nice balcony and chairs for you to enjoy view of the water, sunset and sunrise, easy access to boardwalk and gazebo on small pier. Also with access to a large swimming pool and hot tub for relaxation... I actually appreciated this place so much that this is my first yelp review. Staff was extra friendly and accommodating. Breakfast and coffee bar were great though I'm not a picky eater. If you don't like it, there are close breakfast options nearby. I loved the complimentary cheese and wine as well as the chocolate cookies! Outdoor pool was nice, I didn't see the indoor pool since it was in the other building. Housekeeping did a great job with our room as well. My only criticisms would be that some things in our room need some TLC like the sliding door to the balcony would occasionally get stuck and the fridge/freezer was stuck on the highest setting which froze everything we put in there lol. But if you're letting these minor inconveniences ruin your time at the beach then you need to lighten up a bit. A wonderful spot to stay while on vacation

As in picture. Not the quality we got last time. Pastries were held over each day for the next day. By day 3 ? The big thing was you couldn't get coffee until the office was unlocked at 8am. We are early risers and like coffee in am. The other thing was the toilet in our bathroom , room 3 was very low and hard for older people to use. The room was not as clean as I remember in the past. Would I stay again ? I don't know. Were before I would have said definitely.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience just two years ago this month at First Colony Inn,…read morewhich prompted us to book another visit this past Saturday 3/21 through this morning, Tuesday 3/24. What an incredible disappointment it was. The comparison was stark. The entire property is in need of attention. The porch swing we enjoyed outside our room (#11) two years ago was sitting on the deck this year (picture attached). The afternoon social advertised for Saturday afternoon did not happen. The boardwalk to the road was unusable and while cordoned off for safety didn't have any repairs during our stay. The beach walkway is a joke, and dangerous. The hot, made to order breakfast we'd enjoyed in 2024 was an embarrassment. Sunday morning's breakfast consisted of two small round store-bought waffles and a flaccid, microwaved piece of something unlike bacon. We chose to skip breakfast on Monday and Tuesday mornings and pay to eat elsewhere. In general, the inn appears to be falling to ruin. The bathroom floor was sticky and clearly unclean. The mini-fridge froze our sodas. We never saw any innkeeping staff on premises other than the nice young man who brought us our breakfast on Sunday morning. The quality of the food was not his fault; clearly, the days of having a cook make special breakfasts of the day are a thing of the past. What in the world has happened? First Colony Inn deserves far better than the lack of care and attention it is currently getting and so do its guests. Kirsten S.

There are absolutely things about this TownPlace Suites that I would like to see changed or that I…read moredidn't like, however I'm still giving 5 stars because of the location and the setup they have here and because I personally would go back without a second thought. First, some of the issues I have: The room layout puts one bed very close to the air conditioner and because they have the old-fashioned hotel style AC units, that leaves at least one person getting directly blasted with cold air all night. Using pool towel clips to put a towel over one side of the vent did help but reduced the efficacy of the AC and made the room warmer for everyone else. Breakfast is nice (and free) but the setup of it seems to be done as if this is a business hotel and not a beach front hotel. The cereal choices were all boring adult cereals, the bread for toast was VERY whole grain (as in it had pieces of grains in it), and the only milk they had was white milk (for example). Adding a small amount of more kid-friendly breakfast elements would go a long way. The outdoor pool is sheltered from the wind by the sand bank and gets really hot in the sun, a lightweight shade over the whole (or part of) the deck would probably be a welcomed addition by most people. As for what's great about this place: The location includes a beachfront pool + small snack shack with beach access which is directly across the road from the hotel itself. This gives the best of both worlds with beachfront access as well as having better parking and more room on the hotel property. On non-weekends the price is super affordable for a beachfront Marriott property. Not to mention the only Marriott property on the Outer Banks. It's very close to great food options, many walkable. Stuff for both adults and kids is easy to access. It's also not far to many interesting sightseeing or cultural things to see. All-in-all, I would love to see some minor changes but even with some flaws this is definitely a 5 star option.

The breakfast buffet was OK not well stocked missing a lot of items and there was litter on the property with cigarette butts and that was reported and never cleaned up there were bins of trash in the lobby that were there for hours on end and never should be in the public view. The air conditioning was broke in the main lobby, where the breakfast buffet was the room temperature thermostat was on the fritz and the unit rattle loud the cleaning service was absolutely horrible. My only complaint was the shower. It was very difficult to route the water from the faucet up to the showerhead and the water was only lukewarm. If we had stayed longer, we would have asked for a different room because of that. We could tell the hotel has been updated within the last few years.
