Very nice bedroom with a most comfortable king size bed.

We stayed here for 3 nights while getting in a little spring surf fishing. This is an excellent little motel with very nice suites available. It is located on the Causeway, very near Lone Cedar Seafood Restaurant. The suites are well sized, bright, and very attractively decorated. The king size bed was one of the most comfortable I've found in a motel. The bathroom has a jetted tub, abd a separate shower with an outstanding shower head. There is a nice kitchen area, as well. The only negative is that it is on the Causeway so there is some road noise, but this is still a nice place, and we'd definitely stay here again.

We found this charming hotel through a Google search, and we were not disappointed. The hotel is amazing and right on the bay. We had a room that opened up to the board walk, and had a lovely view. The staff was super friendly and made great recommendations on places to check out. The room was very clean, and housekeeping did a great job. This will be our go to spot next time we are in Nags Head.

We stayed here for our Anniversary and really enjoyed our stay. When booking the room, just ask for the water side and not the street side. The room we stayed in was gorgeous and really well done. They even had chocolate covered strawberry's for us (by request)! Our room had a full kitchen and the kitchen was completely stocked. It was nice to have an ice maker for cold drinks. There was even a large balcony to sit out on.

This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. The entire hotel is gorgeous! You MUST book a suite facing the sound... the view is gorgeous and listening to the water lap against the pier from your balcony is the ultimate! (the other side does have a view but its on the street side and pretty noisy) The rooms are exceptionally clean and the kitchen fully stocked! Plenty of towels, linens, blankets, soaps, etc... They don't offer a continental breakfast but they do have small danishes and a kuerig w/ a nice selection of coffee/tea/cocoa I wished we'd have stayed more than just the one night. We'll just have to come back! I would stay here again in a heart beat!

I'd like to give this place more stars. Everything was beautiful and clean! Comfortable and clean. My only problems was after 2 nights we asked for a change of sheets. They usually only do it every 5 days. Since we asked they did do it. Stupidly, I didn't check the sheets before going to bed and woke up to a bloody cover street. It was really scary and gross! They did apologize. Too late now, I already slept under them all night. They have just one washer and dryer for the whole place. The dryer was broken all week. They said they were waiting for a part. They don't offer any type of breakfast or snack machines. The office closes early along with all the stores in the area. If you need anything overnight you are SOL. The people here are so friendly. The towels were changed on the regular along with the trash. It was great having two large comfy beds. It was weird that one of them was in the living room. There two couches, a dining table, a stove w/ dishes, a fridge, a balcony and a jetted tub w/ shower. The bad thing is one of the burners on the stove were broken and when we cooked any smoke would make the smoke alarm sound because they were over sensitive. We just opened the patio door. I really liked this place overall. I'd stay again when I can take advantage of their pool and hot tub!

    "Water view" from our room

To celebrate our anniversary , my bf booked a room with a "water view" in nags head to enjoy the water and near by beaches . However , what we got was a room that faced a busy road and sad views of a weak wetland next to a parking lot. To start, we were welcomed by an enthusiastic and very kind receptionist , she took our information and as we were about to go the owner of the hotel steps out and rudely speaks to her to ask if she got our credit card info ( which she did). Not only was she speaking to her like she was dumb , but she was just overall unnecessarily rude . We felt pretty bad .Later on in our stay, we were heading back to our room when she stopped us before getting on the parking level elevator and asked if we were staying in the hotel (?!) Now, I don't expect management to remember everyone who stays in the hotel, but this is a small establishment and we had clearly just pulled in with the hotel parking voucher in our window... it was an odd experience . The room itself was beautiful , and well done. The decor was nice and the place was extremely clean, I also thought the second vanity was a nice feature. The noise from the road at night was a bit overbearing and the tv's didn't have a DVD player or a movie channel . Usually this wouldn't be a problem, but it did rain during our stay and we were limited in our options. If you do book a room , make sure that it faces the rear of the property where the actual water views are; it's very pretty. Also, the food in the area was pretty phenomenal! We would highly recommend Lone Cedar Cafe for seafood !! Overall, I wouldn't stay here again. Although the room was nice , I feel like it was wrongfully advertised as a water view room just because there was water across the street. In addition to the odd character of the owner , I probably couldn't find another reason to stay here again .

We planned our stay here based on all the great reviews. So glad we did. First of all, Beverly was a dream to work with. Our room is better than expected (and our expectations were high). Roomy with an intimate cozy feel. Watched the gorgeous sunrise over the water from our room. Walked right outside our back door and had the best view. Wish we could stay here for a week!

My husband and I had a wonderful experience just two years ago this month at First Colony Inn,…read morewhich prompted us to book another visit this past Saturday 3/21 through this morning, Tuesday 3/24. What an incredible disappointment it was. The comparison was stark. The entire property is in need of attention. The porch swing we enjoyed outside our room (#11) two years ago was sitting on the deck this year (picture attached). The afternoon social advertised for Saturday afternoon did not happen. The boardwalk to the road was unusable and while cordoned off for safety didn't have any repairs during our stay. The beach walkway is a joke, and dangerous. The hot, made to order breakfast we'd enjoyed in 2024 was an embarrassment. Sunday morning's breakfast consisted of two small round store-bought waffles and a flaccid, microwaved piece of something unlike bacon. We chose to skip breakfast on Monday and Tuesday mornings and pay to eat elsewhere. In general, the inn appears to be falling to ruin. The bathroom floor was sticky and clearly unclean. The mini-fridge froze our sodas. We never saw any innkeeping staff on premises other than the nice young man who brought us our breakfast on Sunday morning. The quality of the food was not his fault; clearly, the days of having a cook make special breakfasts of the day are a thing of the past. What in the world has happened? First Colony Inn deserves far better than the lack of care and attention it is currently getting and so do its guests. Kirsten S.

There are absolutely things about this TownPlace Suites that I would like to see changed or that I…read moredidn't like, however I'm still giving 5 stars because of the location and the setup they have here and because I personally would go back without a second thought. First, some of the issues I have: The room layout puts one bed very close to the air conditioner and because they have the old-fashioned hotel style AC units, that leaves at least one person getting directly blasted with cold air all night. Using pool towel clips to put a towel over one side of the vent did help but reduced the efficacy of the AC and made the room warmer for everyone else. Breakfast is nice (and free) but the setup of it seems to be done as if this is a business hotel and not a beach front hotel. The cereal choices were all boring adult cereals, the bread for toast was VERY whole grain (as in it had pieces of grains in it), and the only milk they had was white milk (for example). Adding a small amount of more kid-friendly breakfast elements would go a long way. The outdoor pool is sheltered from the wind by the sand bank and gets really hot in the sun, a lightweight shade over the whole (or part of) the deck would probably be a welcomed addition by most people. As for what's great about this place: The location includes a beachfront pool + small snack shack with beach access which is directly across the road from the hotel itself. This gives the best of both worlds with beachfront access as well as having better parking and more room on the hotel property. On non-weekends the price is super affordable for a beachfront Marriott property. Not to mention the only Marriott property on the Outer Banks. It's very close to great food options, many walkable. Stuff for both adults and kids is easy to access. It's also not far to many interesting sightseeing or cultural things to see. All-in-all, I would love to see some minor changes but even with some flaws this is definitely a 5 star option.

Do not stay at this hotel…read more I've stayed in many Marriott properties over the years, but I wish I could give minus five stars to TownePlace Suites OBX. Infrastructure The website photos are completely deceptive. The hotel is not well maintained, despite being built in 2017. There are leaks throughout the property, and visible pockets of mold. The "Blue House" across the street (the beach access point) feels like an afterthought. There was only one deck chair, and it was broken. The handrail leading to the deck was also broken. Hygiene Poor. The interior is not properly cleaned, and both elevators were consistently dirty. Outside, there were empty bottles and trash bags scattered around the parking lot. Beach access Disappointing. If you're expecting easy, relaxing beach access based on the website photos, you'll be let down. You have to cross a street where pedestrians don't have the right of way, pass the poorly maintained deck, and then use stairs to reach the beach. Not worth the hassle. Breakfast Very poor. It's grab-and-go, extremely limited, and tasteless. Skip it and eat elsewhere. Service Unhelpful. We prepaid for a three-night stay but decided to leave after two nights due to the issues above. The front desk did not offer any flexibility or even a credit toward another Marriott property--we simply lost a night. Save yourself the headache. Stay elsewhere--areas like Duck or Corolla offer a much better experience. I'd also avoid Kill Devil Hills altogether; it's not walkable and doesn't offer a pleasant stay.
