Great location too! A couple things worth mentioning though. Our room was very damp. And not just a little humid (we lived in FL for 15 years so we understand humidity), but like our clothes felt wet when we put them on and paper gift bags were soft. We actually turned off the air and opened the slider to air the room out a couple times. If I had to take a stab in the dark, there's likely a serious mold issue behind the walls. There was mold growing on the AC unit. Another thing about the area in general (not just the hotel)...flies. Be prepared to have them tag along with you EVERYWHERE. They were in every restaurant we went to, by the pool, at the beach, in the gym, in every store. It was the most bizarre thing. Just everywhere. Also, I didn't realize how dog friendly this hotel was. We have two dogs and love them, but our room clearly had a dog in it previously with signs of hair on the AC unit and in the carpet. I wish we'd have brought our own pillows as the ones in our room were down pillows and even with 2 of them, they still fall flat. Overall, the location, price, service, and amenities were totally fine but those things like the room being super damp, the flies, and pet hair were just little nuisances that I think people should be aware of.

It was beautiful and very relaxing. Both the indoor and outdoor pools were warm, which we really enjoyed. The only downside was that there were hardly any towels available at the outdoor pool. We booked the last available room for the day and were pleasantly surprised with complimentary breakfast vouchers. Unfortunately, after using the vouchers, I checked my account the next day and noticed I had still been charged for breakfast, which was disappointing. The room itself was comfortable. The pillows were soft, the blankets were warm, and we slept well. However, there was one large bug flying around the room, and I have no idea where it came from, which was definitely unpleasant. Overall, we enjoyed our stay because of the pools, beach view, and comfortable room, but a few issues--especially the breakfast charge and the bug in the room--kept it from being a perfect experience.

There is a microwave and dishes, silverware and cooler with sodas and water upstairs with couches and games. Fresh baked cookies outside your room in the evening. There is fishing and crabbing on site. If you don't have the equipment they Wii loan you what you need. There is also a pool, several swings and chairs outside. The oceanfront location and easy beach access are fantastic, and the outdoor pool area is amazing with plenty of comfortable seating. They also have an indoor pool, hot tub, and a great hot breakfast. But the true standout of our experience was Kira, one of the supervisors. Her kindness and hospitality were absolutely unmatched. She went above and beyond to make my son and me feel welcomed and cared for, and her genuine warmth made our experience so much more special. Kira is truly an asset to Shutters! Samantha at the front desk was also incredibly kind and helpful. We were so impressed by the beautiful property and, most of all, the people who made us feel so welcome. We will definitely be back and highly recommend Shutters to anyone visiting the Outer Banks!

My only complaint was the shower. It was very difficult to route the water from the faucet up to the showerhead and the water was only lukewarm. If we had stayed longer, we would have asked for a different room because of that. We could tell the hotel has been updated within the last few years. That said, the property is showing its age. The units still have outdated Dish TV service, and the curtains are faded and dated. Most of the furniture is cloth and overdue for replacement. The area rugs are also a concern--they seem a little smelly and retain sand, which makes them feel less than clean. Maintenance and management have noticeably declined. It's frustratingly hard to get in touch with someone when you need assistance. In short, you're paying for the location and ocean access, but the interiors and upkeep need serious attention. With some investment in updates and better guest service, it could return to being a top-tier beach property.

Wyndham Baymont Complaint…read more We stayed at the Wyndham Baymont Kitty Hawk from June 12-15, 2020. When we initially checked in the room they assigned to us was not made up. We found out when we walked in it was an utter mess. Wyndham Baymont gave us a second room. In the second room we discovered a water leak inside the bathroom coming from the second floor room above ours. Every time the occupants flushed the toilet water came through the vents and all over our bathroom. Wyndham Baymont gave us another room. We're now on our third room. You will see from the pictures the owner at Wyndham Baymont Kitty Hawk does not take care of the property. We understand these are COVID-19 times, but the manager has used this as an excuse to not repair and clean up the the hotel and outside grounds. The side doors of the hotel were not locked during the evening hours (a safety concern). The manager was absolutely useless she complained that she had to work 12 hours +plus a day. We never saw her and we we were never able to meet up and talk with her to discuss our concerns. She was always "unavailable". There are other hotel options in Kitty Hawk. I would not recommend Wyndham Baymont Kitty Hawk hotel for a stay. I would recommend this hotel be shut down for deep cleaning, along with structural and safety repairs. On the positive side the front desk people were very pleasant. The problem with this hotel is the manager who seems to have excuse after excuse why she can's make repairs or clean the hotel to make it minimally presentable.

This other lady who looked like a manager, was asking other guests about the elevator. When I told her that is your employee with the supply cart and he's been standing at the elevator and it's not working. She's responded to me saying "I don't know him. I don't know what's going on. I don't know about another elevator. I'm new here. This is my first day." Really? You start your first day on Easter Sunday and you had no training? There is another elevator, but apparently that's been out of order for many months. So the king bed was caved in and broken when we arrived in the nice bedroom... housekeeping just made it and moved on... this is how maintenance fixed it yesterday with no tools. We are traveling with an 84yo with mobility issues that is now in the bunk bed room. This is night two on the floor after promising several times that it was going to be handled right away. What does one do about this? We asked them to take the bed down so we could at least use the nightstands and outlets. They said sure but never showed up. Croatan surf club... any advice? It seems like we are being messed with for their entertainment at this point.

Josh went out of his way to help us even though he was extremely busy cleaning up after hurricane Irene. The only downside was that we heard the people walking in the unit above us.
