And not just a little humid (we lived in FL for 15 years so we understand humidity), but like our clothes felt wet when we put them on and paper gift bags were soft. We actually turned off the air and opened the slider to air the room out a couple times. If I had to take a stab in the dark, there's likely a serious mold issue behind the walls. There was mold growing on the AC unit. Another thing about the area in general (not just the hotel)...flies. Be prepared to have them tag along with you EVERYWHERE. They were in every restaurant we went to, by the pool, at the beach, in the gym, in every store. It was the most bizarre thing. Just everywhere. Also, I didn't realize how dog friendly this hotel was. We have two dogs and love them, but our room clearly had a dog in it previously with signs of hair on the AC unit and in the carpet. I wish we'd have brought our own pillows as the ones in our room were down pillows and even with 2 of them, they still fall flat. Overall, the location, price, service, and amenities were totally fine but those things like the room being super damp, the flies, and pet hair were just little nuisances that I think people should be aware of.

We had several food allergies among our guests, including me--the bride--being allergic to gluten. The team went above and beyond to make sure everyone could eat safely while still enjoying an incredible meal. We had the mahi and beef, and our guests could not stop talking about how delicious everything was. We were also so impressed by how quickly and efficiently everyone was served. Every single employee we encountered was incredibly helpful, kind, and attentive. From the bartenders and servers to the managers, everyone went out of their way to make sure we and our guests had the best possible experience--and we truly did. Having the hotel right on site was an absolute dream. The hotel staff were incredibly accommodating, and our guests were very happy with their rooms, the restaurant, and the pool and beach access. The gym even had Peloton bikes! The entire setup made the weekend so convenient and enjoyable for everyone. I truly cannot stress enough what a dream venue this is for anyone who wants to get married at the beach. Being able to have all of our guests check in and be done traveling, have the most beautiful beach ceremony, and then immediately move inside to air conditioning while still enjoying the incredible views over the water was absolutely perfect. Thankfully the issues I had the first day with the air conditioning in the room were resolved within an hour after I reported them. The breakfast buffet has a nice selection that varies daily. Cheese omelettes alternating with scrambled eggs. I really enjoying the automatic pancake mixer. My only compliant after a few nights staying here is the mattress. It's low budget and I've been waking up with a stiff back everyday. But hey, the is Holiday Inn Express not the Mariott. I'm throwing and extra two stars on because I believe the people here try hard to please the customers.

That said, the property is showing its age. The units still have outdated Dish TV service, and the curtains are faded and dated. Most of the furniture is cloth and overdue for replacement. The area rugs are also a concern--they seem a little smelly and retain sand, which makes them feel less than clean. Maintenance and management have noticeably declined. It's frustratingly hard to get in touch with someone when you need assistance. In short, you're paying for the location and ocean access, but the interiors and upkeep need serious attention. With some investment in updates and better guest service, it could return to being a top-tier beach property.

Wyndham Baymont Complaint…read more We stayed at the Wyndham Baymont Kitty Hawk from June 12-15, 2020. When we initially checked in the room they assigned to us was not made up. We found out when we walked in it was an utter mess. Wyndham Baymont gave us a second room. In the second room we discovered a water leak inside the bathroom coming from the second floor room above ours. Every time the occupants flushed the toilet water came through the vents and all over our bathroom. Wyndham Baymont gave us another room. We're now on our third room. You will see from the pictures the owner at Wyndham Baymont Kitty Hawk does not take care of the property. We understand these are COVID-19 times, but the manager has used this as an excuse to not repair and clean up the the hotel and outside grounds. The side doors of the hotel were not locked during the evening hours (a safety concern). The manager was absolutely useless she complained that she had to work 12 hours +plus a day. We never saw her and we we were never able to meet up and talk with her to discuss our concerns. She was always "unavailable". There are other hotel options in Kitty Hawk. I would not recommend Wyndham Baymont Kitty Hawk hotel for a stay. I would recommend this hotel be shut down for deep cleaning, along with structural and safety repairs. On the positive side the front desk people were very pleasant. The problem with this hotel is the manager who seems to have excuse after excuse why she can's make repairs or clean the hotel to make it minimally presentable.

First, some of the issues I have: The room layout puts one bed very close to the air conditioner and because they have the old-fashioned hotel style AC units, that leaves at least one person getting directly blasted with cold air all night. Using pool towel clips to put a towel over one side of the vent did help but reduced the efficacy of the AC and made the room warmer for everyone else. Breakfast is nice (and free) but the setup of it seems to be done as if this is a business hotel and not a beach front hotel. The cereal choices were all boring adult cereals, the bread for toast was VERY whole grain (as in it had pieces of grains in it), and the only milk they had was white milk (for example). Adding a small amount of more kid-friendly breakfast elements would go a long way. The outdoor pool is sheltered from the wind by the sand bank and gets really hot in the sun, a lightweight shade over the whole (or part of) the deck would probably be a welcomed addition by most people. As for what's great about this place: The location includes a beachfront pool + small snack shack with beach access which is directly across the road from the hotel itself. This gives the best of both worlds with beachfront access as well as having better parking and more room on the hotel property. On non-weekends the price is super affordable for a beachfront Marriott property. Not to mention the only Marriott property on the Outer Banks. It's very close to great food options, many walkable. Stuff for both adults and kids is easy to access. It's also not far to many interesting sightseeing or cultural things to see. All-in-all, I would love to see some minor changes but even with some flaws this is definitely a 5 star option.

The air conditioning was broke in the main lobby, where the breakfast buffet was the room temperature thermostat was on the fritz and the unit rattle loud the cleaning service was absolutely horrible. The refrigerator was leaking and we had to retrieve our own towels daily because the staff didn't replace what they took out of room, we have stayed here 4 yrs in a row and this was the worst I've seen it.

Only one of the elevators work. Some of the lights don't work. The living room TV has gone bad and often displays the programming as a negative image or mostly green in color. Side of the refrigerator has good amount of rust. The icemaker didn't work. The showers had decent water pressure and they have nice soap products. The food at the restaurant was good. The crabcake was good portion and tasty and the vegetable medley had excellent flavor. I was overcharged when I arrived for what my confirmation said. Hopefully that has been straightened out with my bill when I check out. There was an issue with the elevator the one morning as the employee said it wasn't working. This other lady who looked like a manager, was asking other guests about the elevator. When I told her that is your employee with the supply cart and he's been standing at the elevator and it's not working. She's responded to me saying "I don't know him. I don't know what's going on. I don't know about another elevator. I'm new here. This is my first day." Really? You start your first day on Easter Sunday and you had no training? There is another elevator, but apparently that's been out of order for many months. So the king bed was caved in and broken when we arrived in the nice bedroom... housekeeping just made it and moved on... this is how maintenance fixed it yesterday with no tools. We are traveling with an 84yo with mobility issues that is now in the bunk bed room. This is night two on the floor after promising several times that it was going to be handled right away. What does one do about this? We asked them to take the bed down so we could at least use the nightstands and outlets. They said sure but never showed up. Croatan surf club... any advice? It seems like we are being messed with for their entertainment at this point.
