The rooms were pretty comfortable, and the continental breakfast with homemade blueberry muffins were delicious. Downside, there was still renovation activity going on in the rooms nearby. Plus, the mini fridges had not been installed yet so no way to keep our leftovers cool. In the end, the staff was super friendly and ready to assist... and the check in/out was a breeze.

We splurged on the charcuterie board upon arrival which was 100% worth it. From 4-5pm they had happy hour with complementary wine and appetizers. The Inn owners were so nice and offered great recommendations for things to see and do in the area. We took their suggestion to have dinner at Salt and Cyprus with waterfront views and great cocktails. In the morning, the inn's breakfast was perfect. Fresh fruit, homemade muffin, coffee, juice, biscuits and gravy, and scrambled eggs. With our short stay, we ran out of time to try out their fire pits and take a bike ride through town. Next time we'll have to stay at least two nights!

There spare no expense to make the guests feel like royalty. First of all, high end coffee machine, fresh made cookies every day, ice cream sandwiches in the freezer... Then, the breakfasts are like dining in a Michelin star restaurant. Easily would be $25-30 in a restaurant. They have a happy hour(s) each night from 4 to 6 and serve 3-4 high quality wines and an assortment of local and regional beers. David and Tania are amazing hosts and we will definitely be back. There is lost to do and see in this area and the White Doe is a perfect hub for all things north OBX.

The rooms are spacious, very clean, full kitchen, large bathroom, very very comfortable bed, living room, dinning room, a nice balcony and chairs for you to enjoy view of the water, sunset and sunrise, easy access to boardwalk and gazebo on small pier. Also with access to a large swimming pool and hot tub for relaxation... Another plus is it's located between Manteo and Kitty Hawk, so you have plenty of options of places to go for drinks, a good meal, sight seeing, or for a good time in the water. The rooms were comfortable and the staff was so nice. It just felt like home, but I'm from another place and this was manteo N.C. The lobby even had a history! The original owner was very kind to people who needed a place to stay, so he would sometimes give tenants work. A way of singing for your supper. The art in the lobby was done by one of the tenants in lue of paying for his rent. When the business was sold, the new owners thought it to be a good idea to hold onto it for its historical value of this awesome hotel.

Dirty stairs and "back stairs" were peeling paint and rotting. Room was "shoddy" at best, cave like with only a small dormer window that was so dirty it was disgusting. Room had a strong "chemical smell" and was "decorated in early yard sale/thrift store" furniture. Coffee maker (1 leg broken off) still had previous occupant's coffee filter and grounds and there was no fresh coffee packs in the room. The bed was so uncomfortable that we did not get much sleep and the sheets were so thin you could read a book through them. We could not stand to spend another night so checked out early. One of the most disgusting hotel experiences in my 40 years of travel. This place is a disgrace to the Wyndham franchise which is why it was selected in the first place. Wyndham is on my NO STAY list for ever after this experience.

The rooms are absolutely beautiful, spacious, and elegant. Each morning we enjoyed delicious coffee along with a wonderful selection of sweet and savory pastries. The afternoon cocktail hour was a special touch and a great way to relax after a day of exploring. A special feature is the deep-water dock, which allows you to pull your boat right up to the inn. There are also kayaks, paddle boards and bicycles for guests to enjoy. We rode bikes to the park and all around downtown. Inside, there are comfortable sitting areas perfect for relaxing, reading, or playing games. The Burrus House is peaceful, quiet, and exceptionally welcoming. If you're looking for a charming place to stay in Manteo with outstanding amenities and hospitality, I highly recommend the Burrus House Inn. We can't wait to come back!

Lots to do on Manteo...dolphin watching, city center shopping, the aquarium, etc. Bicycles and canoes are available on site. The nice thing is you get the outer banks experience nearby without the usual crowds, amusement park attractions, and stores. Manteo is centrally located in the OBX which makes the Burrus House Inn an ideal place to stay. Great price for such a nice place...and best of all, no kids under the age of 16 allowed which makes for a nice romantic getaway!

Then the room has the strangest bump out cut into it that I think was the office. The Indian sounding man was in there at 11:30 pm talking so loud we could hear every word he said. The lack of window blinds made sleeping impossible. The photo was taken at 2:00am. I couldn't sleep. It was like daylight in the room. I will say the room was clean! If you're taller than 5'10", you won't be able to stand under the shower. It's really low. The smoke detector was missing, pretty sure that's against the law. The "deadbolt" was a metal rod you barely stuck into a hole. Not a safe feeling at all.
