A little quaint hotel located in the outer banks of North Carolina. The staff was amazing! They are super friendly and courteous! I called a couple of times with questions regarding my reservation and they were able to answer all my questions and were courteous. My fiancé and I were in mid move and they accommodated our trailer. The gave us a welcoming greeting and were friendly. For the hotel itself I was disappointed. They charge a resort fee which I do not understand. Based on the pictures, there is nothing resort like about this place. The rooms are severely outdated with old worn carpet. For the price we paid to stay, I was expecting more. The price is very high and you do not really get your moneys worth. The breakfast was a disappointment. Once an item runs out, they do not replace it. If you do not arrive early enough, you are dealing with a very limited menu. The selection is very bare and is sub par compared to most hotels. Overall, the staff is amazing and courteous. But for the hotel itself, it is not worth the money.

I didn't really have a choice since the property was the only one left with a room for Labor Day weekend. I can see why. It needs a little updating. The rooms need deeper cleaning, & the room had a musty, moldy odor. The Pros: its location, beautiful view of the water; easy access to beach sports ( boating, kayaking, & jet skiing) with their own dock, and a good breakfast. Will I stay there again? NO.

I had to stay one night because I could not get to my house on the 4x4 beach due to high tides. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. I loved the fact that it had a small fridge , microwave and hot plate. I was able to eat my leftovers from home and not have to venture out after my 12 hour drive. Sound views were beautiful from the dock.

Great location, very pet friendly, beautiful sunsets. The Inn is on the older side and the walkways (all wooden boardwalk type) could use some upgrading and maintenance, they tend to be noisy as well. Don't stay in Room 55. Although the room was clean and a comfortable size, it faces the parking lot along Route 12. There were only sheers on the window and the floodlights in the parking lot illuminated the room all night until the sunrise in the morning which came through the sheers and reflected off the mirrors on the closet doors. It came in handy that there was a kitchen with a full refrigerator, but there was very limited kitchen supplies, especially no drinking glasses, except for the 4 coffee paper cups. We did a lot of take out and would have appreciated a more equipped kitchen. Our first day we were surprised to find on the windowsill a homemade "terrarium" made out of 1/2 of a water bottle . . growing . . something. There was only 1 roll of toilet paper and zero boxes of tissues. We were traveling during COVID and were very understanding that our room would not be cleaned daily. It was not a problem to get clean towels (and extra toilet paper) from the front office. Since there was no housekeeping, we were unaware of what to do with the overflowing garbage. The continental breakfast was okay, muffins, bagels, sausage, hard boiled eggs, cereal, granola bars, coffee, tea, milk etc. All were wrapped individually which was nice. Since this Inn is on the water there are a lot of mosquitos. We knew that going in, but we were surprised that the property was not kept (or swept) of these dead insects. We had no screens on our windows and were therefore unable to open them during the beautiful weather. Probably the most disappointing (and disheartening) experience was that despite the sign on the main office door that indicated you must wear a face mask . . the employees were the only ones I saw WITHOUT masks inside the office :( P.S. We did ask for a different room upon arrival and were told there were no other room available.

Can't beat the view of the pier leading to the gazebo to watch the sunset

This is a beautiful, cozy beach house property nestled in the Corolla community where my twin and I stayed for two days. Our room was kind of small, but I loved how the bathtub was rather large and had good water pressure for showering. Everything was clean, which was good enough for me. I'm not much into hanging out in my hotel room, so I was happy that there were several places in the Inn where you could sit and look out into the water and the sunset or enjoy the beautiful weather. It's family owned and they were rather short staffed due to it being off season, but they were very kind and informative and offered their number if assistance was needed after hours. I also loved the location of the property as there were several places were you could walk on a nature trail. Their continental breakfast was pretty small selection, but decent. I managed to enjoy some hot coffee, eggs, sausage and croissant and sit out on the patio to enjoy the crisp morning that as a night shift worker is very rare for me. I would definitely want to come back here should I find myself wanting another trip to Corolla.

Great Hotel in a perfect location. This hotel backs right up to the sound and is a Great place to watch the sunset . Friendly staff and the rooms are quaint and clean. I'll definitely stay here again and I'll recommend it to my friends! One thing I will say for those this might affect, there are ALOT of steps. No elevator however the front desk folks will get your luggage to your room. Not a deal breaker however if you have trouble with steps you may want to request a room on a lower level or the most easily accessible.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon here and let me tell you- best decision ever!! They upgraded our room once they found out it was our honeymoon! The staff is so friendly and accommodating! They certainly know the area and gave us great suggestions. The views here are amazing .. Especially the sunset. We will be coming back for anniversaries to come!! Thanks Corolla Inn for helping to make our honeymoon one we will never forget!!

    Finger nails and dirty q-tip.

This place is convenient and cute on the outside but it's downright dirty bordering on filthy. I should have listened to the reviews. The pictures don't lie. Peak season room was almost $400. The room and dated decor is more reflective of a motel. Only saving grace is the view and location.

We never had to use the free Trolly service because we were close to it all. We usually bring bikes when we go away, but when I saw how close we were going to be using Google maps, we left the bikes home. The lighthouse was about a 15 minute walk and that might have been the only time I wished I had my bike. Not to worry, bike rentals are close by! Check in was at 4pm. We were able to stock up on food. About 3 miles from the house there is a Food Lion with anything and everything you could think of. (I was not walking there hahaha) When we arrived, the cleaning people were still there. They were nice and let us come in to start putting our groceries away. I think they could have done alittle better cleaning. There was alot of black mold on the floor of the shower that had just been renovated in 2018. How hard could it be to keep something only a year old still looking like new?! So another trip to Food Lion to get some mold and mildew remover and viola, clean and looking new again. You're welcome! My husband noticed some mold on the spare pillows in the closet, and my mother noticed the same thing on the pillows downstairs. I'm not one to pack extra pillows, nor do I like to waste time calling the realty office to put in complains and wait for someone to come scrub the shower or replace pillows. I treated this house like it was my own, cleaned what needed to be cleaned and since we didn't need the pillows, I let it go and reported it upon discharge. To the next family, I hope you got new pillows or brought your own. Again, you're welcome. The community has 3 pools, one is heated, and they also have a baby pool, perfect for the little ones. Downside, it closes at 7pm. It's summer and I had 3 teenagers with me. Push it to 8 please. The oceanfront grill has limited seating for dinner and closes around 9pm. I also noticed there were some events we missed because they were not on our calendar. So when you visit make sure you read everything posted by the pool in the resort, don't just look at your calendar in the welcome package. This was our first time in OBX and we absolutely loved it! It was a long drive from NY to NC so I'm not sure if we will drive there again.

Corolla Light has a bunch of houses and condos on the ocean side of Route 12 but most(if not all) the rental houses on the Sound side have an affiliation with the Corolla Light as well. They have a small shuttle bus that picks up people on the Sound side of Route 12 so you do not need to drive to the location. There is a small parking lot for about 20 cars in front of the basketball courts but it gets filled quickly, so walking, biking, or using the shuttle is usually the way to get there from your rental property. There is no fitness center at the Corolla Light location with the pools, it is called the Richard Brindley Sportscenter located about 1 mile south on Route 12. (Located next to the Grass Course Mini-golf - the sportscenter does not show up on Google maps) It has an indoor 25 meter pool, 2 indoor tennis courts, racquet ball court, volleyball court, cardio room with several treadmills, elliptical machines, bikes, and one stepper. Also a fitness rooms with dumbells up to 60 lbs. and several machines including a vertical Smith machine. They have 2 large pools one that is 3.5 - 5 feet deep and one that is deeper. Plenty of space. There is a restaurant located at the pools to eat at as well as order poolside. There are 4 full basketball courts with different size balls (27.5" to regular size) provided. Not great quality but good enough to mess around. There is also a little kids play area (no swings), beach volleyball court, and 2 shuffle board courts. They also have a walkway for beach access with a nearby lifeguard station and you can rent surf boards on the beach. We were there in just now July, so despite the 90-100 degree temperature, the water temp max'd out at only 60 degrees so wet suits are necessary. The waves were 0.5 - 1.5 feet so surfing was possible but not great. Near the entrance to the property, they have rental area (bikes, surfboads, boogie boards, and wet suits, but no fishing gear (see my review on Corolla Bait and Tackle) as well as several restaurants, one Mexican and one BBQ but I did not eat there so not sure how they are. They also have 2 ponds near the entrance to the property that are probably stocked because it was very easy to catch fish there. Sunfish, bluegill. Overall, a lot of good amenities if you are staying in an associated property. Just remember your wristband.

One shower had such low water pressure it was completely unusable. The dishwasher was broken for the entire week, which meant hand-washing dishes for 14 guests, three meals a day, for seven days. That is not what anyone signs up for on vacation. The house itself was not properly cleaned. There were cobwebs on multiple surfaces, visible rust throughout, and an overall neglected feel. For the price we paid, the condition of the property was unacceptable. Customer service was effectively nonexistent. We reported the issues, and nothing meaningful was done to resolve them during our stay. There was no urgency, no accountability, and no effort to make things right. Also worth noting: reviews appear to be filtered, showing only glowing feedback. Based on our experience, you are not getting the full picture when you read the listings. For the amount of money these homes command, expectations should be much higher. We would strongly recommend considering another rental company. You've been warned.
