Main course grilled chicken with a mushroom sauce that was to die for creamy mashed potatoes and string beans all seasoned to perfection!

I have to say that this was a an absolutely beautiful home. I decided to go outside of my comfort zone and book something different for my daughters 10th birthday. I wanted something other than the traditional hotel so the Truitt home seemed perfect. I was a little Leary upon booking because I didn't know quite what to expect. I also decided to request a birthday dinner from the option on the website. Again, quite a bit Leary because we were outside of our comfort zone and requesting a special meal for my kid is taking a huge chance (her favorite thing to eat is chicken nuggets and fries ) but wanting to do something different I took the chance. A on after making the booking I received a call from a lady by the name of Ruth. She was very pleasant and asked what type of meal I had in mind. I explained to her my daughters Tate pallet was a bit limited and she said to give her a couple days and she would put something together. Days later she called with a plan and although I wasn't quite clear on what it would be I went along for the ride. I arrived at the property in Aug 14th. Upon arrival I was greeted at the door by Ms. Ruth. From the time stepped in the home I felt at peace. She was absolutely a God send. She explained the history behind the home and gave us a tour where we took pictures. My daughter was in awe because to her this was a mansion and she was the princess. Ms. Ruth made her feel just like that. She asked would 7 be ok for dinner and we said yes. We and freshen up for dinner and when we came down she had a place setting for just the 2 of us. She then started to serve us course after course as if we were eating at a French restaurant in Paris. She introduced us to dishes that made my mouth yearn for more. I mean I couldn't have asked for anything more. After dinner she then walked in to our surprise singing happy birthday to my baby with a fake and candles. Aww I cried and cried because she went completely out of her way to make us feel so special!!! I was in awe at how gracious she was to us. After the dinner she asked what we wanted for breakfast. I couldn't believe she still wanted to cook but I guess it is a bed and breakfast ‍. She asked what time we'd be ready and we settled on 10am. I went back TJ our room and slept like a baby. Honestly by 10am I was still stuffed from the night before but I was all in!!! My daughter and I cane down for breakfast but before walking into the dining area she called me into the study and blessed my soul. She said that she enjoyed us and asked if we'd like to stay an extra night at a discounted rate because she felt that I needed that extra time. She has no idea what she's his did to me. The past year and a half half been the worst of my 37 years. Just leaving that I'm in stage 5 kidney failure has brought me to a whole other way of living and thinking and this trip was a vacation away from my new normal. She didn't know any of this upon my arrival but the fact that she could feel my need was beyond a blessing to me. She has no idea what an impact she put on my life in just 24 hours. Unfortunately I couldn't commit to another night at a that time but I WILL be. Ack. Not for the house but for Ms. Ruth. Again the home was immaculate I wanted for nothing but MS. Ruth! outshined the whole establishment. Peace and love to you. Thank you for EVERYTHING!! T

With our dietary preferences Ruth organized a 4-course private dinner (for an extra fee), and it blew us away.

Tucked away in the historic area of downtown Suffolk, the drive alone sets the mood. You order your food outside and they kindly bring it to your table inside. The rustic decor is very inviting and warm. The hosts and even the patrons were friendly and gave off a very at-home feel. This spot also doubles as a bed and breakfast and I personally can never get enough of those so I'll definitely be booking a stay here one night! Can't wait to bring a group of friends here and just relax and enjoy!

The cottage was very cute and roomy but I don't believe it was as nice as the actual house. There was also a nice view of a garden and fountain from the balcony of our cottage and there was a hammock on the balcony as well. The breakfast was delicious and delivered right to our room. We had wonderful service from the house manager and didn't have any issues at all. There is a photography business located on the premises if you are celebrating a special occasion. When we stayed, there was a bride and groom outside of the house having a photo shoot. They can be booked for weddings and occasionally have events at the house that you can register for.

Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts - Ground floor was nicely setup for the event and loved how it could be viewed from first floor.

I recently attended a movie screening of Paranormal Activity, and the experience brought back memories of the old theater in my high school back in the Midwest. There's something about the classic architecture and intimate setting that made the suspense feel even more intense, adding a unique twist to the horror vibe. It felt like stepping back in time, but with the comfort of modern amenities. Cost was a great value at only $3 a ticket!! Great options for teens to do on. Their own or for parents trying to keep costs down. I can see it being a fun day out for a more age appropriate film for younger kiddos. The staff here were incredibly welcoming and organized, ensuring everything from seating to the event setup was handled smoothly. The sound and picture quality were excellent, and it's clear they put a lot of thought into making each event feel special. One thing we missed, though, was the option to purchase concessions--it would have been nice to enjoy some popcorn or a snack to complete the movie experience. What I love about the Suffolk Center is its versatility; they host everything from film screenings and live performances to art exhibits and educational programs, making it a vibrant community hub. If you're looking for an arts venue that combines historic charm with a welcoming atmosphere, the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts is definitely worth a visit. It's the kind of place that feels like home, even if it's your first time there!

She helped me personal train and helped me understand meal prepping and what to look for in my foods and what I need nutrients-wise for my goal as well as my weight goals! She kept pushing me to my PRs are farther:) She is so understanding and takes every problem I had whether it was with meal-prepping or weight-lifting posture hesitancies and how to overcome. PROFESSIONAL Responsive to emails and phone calls, considerate of issues that are important to one or both families, flexible enough to adapt and make your wedding day turn out the way you want it to be. They offer additional services like Workshops, Monthly Check-Ins, and a team of pros to answer any question any time. DAY-OF BLISS On the day of your wedding there are a couple things on your mind, and you don't want one of those to be "has the caterer arrived....do they know where to put the reserved seating signs......does someone have an extension chord in case the band forgot theirs?". Brenda and her team take care of EVERYTHING - the vendors all know to direct all of their questions to her. This was the most valuable part of our experience, our entire wedding-day was 100% worry free...priceless. ADDED VALUE Swann Soirées paid for themselves by securing us discounted services and vendors, with the peace of mind that they had a proven track-record and could be trusted. Beyond all of the above, Brenda is a smart, kind, affable person that cares about the people she works with. It was an honor to have someone as genuine as her helping us plan our wedding.

She's also there to keep it real and steer you clear when you've hit a wedding planning wall. My wedding reception was at the Hotel Del. While that can come off as fluffy and seemingly ostentatious (which is not us as a couple at all), Brenda worked expertly with their team and us to keep it as "true" to ourselves as possible. Despite me being a "Type A", I DO NOT KNOW where we would be without her! Thank you Brenda and Swann Soirees!

The ladies bathroom is so dark when you walk in - it does not have the same light and bright coastal vibe as the rest of the marina. This contrast is also difficult visually. Last year are main problem was not having actual shower heads in the stalls. This year, we had no hot water for our shower on Sunday morning. When we checked back in the afternoon and evening there was still no hot water. Despite the bathroom facilities, the rest of the marina is nice. We've visited a few times and sometimes it's very sparse and only has a few tents but during peak tourist season it usually perks up. It's not a spot I'd recommend for a nice dinner or hanging out as it appears to be very quiet and there isn't much going on here if you aren't fishing or boating from the Marina or here for a specific event. It is beautiful and clean and well kept.
