Our stay was great. The rooms are comfy and the morning breakfast is a traditional setup with great food.

The innkeepers, Bill and Veda are incredibly accommodating and worked with my dietary restrictions.

If you are interested in doing something around the area, or need suggestions, they have so many recommendations. I really just can't say enough about how wonderful they are. The house is like going to an aunt and uncles house, we just felt very cozy and comfortable. The pictures are exactly how the house is. It's convenient to so many different places, and a very short drive to beaches. There is a reason this place is rated with 5 stars on every travel site.

The breakfast is a work of art. Fruit cups, yogurt eggs with ham and cheese. Freshly made crepes with bananas and homemade Carmel sauce. There is a microwave and dishes, silverware and cooler with sodas and water upstairs with couches and games. Fresh baked cookies outside your room in the evening. There is fishing and crabbing on site. If you don't have the equipment they Wii loan you what you need. There is also a pool, several swings and chairs outside. Everything is so tastefully done and welcoming. There is also a small elevator to get suitcases and people upstairs.

Do not stay at this hotel…read more I've stayed in many Marriott properties over the years, but I wish I could give minus five stars to TownePlace Suites OBX. Infrastructure The website photos are completely deceptive. The hotel is not well maintained, despite being built in 2017. There are leaks throughout the property, and visible pockets of mold. The "Blue House" across the street (the beach access point) feels like an afterthought. There was only one deck chair, and it was broken. The handrail leading to the deck was also broken. Hygiene Poor. The interior is not properly cleaned, and both elevators were consistently dirty. Outside, there were empty bottles and trash bags scattered around the parking lot. Beach access Disappointing. If you're expecting easy, relaxing beach access based on the website photos, you'll be let down. You have to cross a street where pedestrians don't have the right of way, pass the poorly maintained deck, and then use stairs to reach the beach. Not worth the hassle. Breakfast Very poor. It's grab-and-go, extremely limited, and tasteless. Skip it and eat elsewhere. Service Unhelpful. We prepaid for a three-night stay but decided to leave after two nights due to the issues above. The front desk did not offer any flexibility or even a credit toward another Marriott property--we simply lost a night. Save yourself the headache. Stay elsewhere--areas like Duck or Corolla offer a much better experience. I'd also avoid Kill Devil Hills altogether; it's not walkable and doesn't offer a pleasant stay.

Of course the ice machine is out of order. I was awakened to construction men right outside my balcony repairing the patio of the restaurant. There are signs directing you to the elevator and then you get there it says staff only. The best part was the bistro, but even then the construction men were right on the other side of the wall from my table tearing apart the outside wall. I paid nearly double for a room "on a higher level" and got the second floor out of five. Just another typical tourist trap.

Plus there's a dining area and living room. Nice full balcony outback with a great view of the ocean. Wonderful breeze out the front but none of the windows worked to let the air in from the front. Only one of the elevators work. Some of the lights don't work. The living room TV has gone bad and often displays the programming as a negative image or mostly green in color. Side of the refrigerator has good amount of rust. The icemaker didn't work. The showers had decent water pressure and they have nice soap products. The food at the restaurant was good. The crabcake was good portion and tasty and the vegetable medley had excellent flavor. I was overcharged when I arrived for what my confirmation said. Hopefully that has been straightened out with my bill when I check out. There was an issue with the elevator the one morning as the employee said it wasn't working. This other lady who looked like a manager, was asking other guests about the elevator. When I told her that is your employee with the supply cart and he's been standing at the elevator and it's not working. She's responded to me saying "I don't know him. I don't know what's going on. I don't know about another elevator. I'm new here. This is my first day." Really? You start your first day on Easter Sunday and you had no training? There is another elevator, but apparently that's been out of order for many months. Thankfully, the employee with the supply cart was able to get the elevator back working quickly Lots of available parking in the open lot We consider staying again, but likely will try another place

There's nothing better than spending the day at the beach with your fur baby. Finally, some rooms you enter from inside hotel and others you enter from the parking lot like a motel. I've stayed in both types of rooms here and they're all about the same. No, there is no longer a continental breakfast served in the lobby area but there are so many restaurants nearby and there is a microwave & mini fridge in every room. Yes, housekeeping is the bare minimum here but every business in the service industry has changed (most for the worse) since the pandemic. Do you really need someone to make or turn down your bed for you daily while you're on vacation?!? Do you really need fresh towels every single day? I've been coming to this same hotel for years and truly the only difference I see now compared to the past is the long term residents. I did not have any issues with them and I was given a room in that designated section.

When we came back around 3:30 there was a different employee. He said we could check in. We were given handicapped accessible room on 3rd floor which we did not ask for. I asked for the highest floor which would of been 4th. The tub was not flat on the bottom. Would be difficult to stand there if handicapped. The microwave did not spin. AC ok. Chairs on balcony had mold. The hotel is very aged and needs updating. There was one elevator working. They stopped serving the grab and go breakfast. When I asked the employee they said it was stopped a long time ago. I would expect more as a Wyndham member. I would not stay here again. The pictures are not what you get. The location was close to shopping and ocean.
