When we need diner food on the road, this is a must stop. Particularly fond of the perogies at this place! A generous portion with excellent sausage and onion cooked just right. read more

This place was recommended to us by a local when we visited from out of town. The food was good & reasonably priced. The pie was AMAZING!

Just moved to this cute little town and didn't have a lot of groceries, so we decided to check out Home. It was delicious!! I had the beef dip with sweet potato fries. Yummmmm my b/f had a burger and fries, once the burger was gone, his plate looked FULL with fries, they are definitely not cheap on their portions. Then we decided to splurge on dessert. OMG!! I had the Apple Crumble, Mmmmm, my b/f had Cheesecake with Strawberries, Mmmmm. We're most definitely going back. read more

We ordered shrimp and fish&chips, the shrimp was not well done and the rice was not tasty! The fish&chips was good but the only option was cod! Which I don't like too much. The price was normal yet not cheap! Overall it is a good place just if you have to eat sth in your way to the mainland. read more

Always busy. Great food for a small town. Need a bit of patience. Probably the best bet for a family restaurant that area. read more

Home Restaurant - A burger under there. - Canadian (New) Near Me - Hope, British Columbia

I asked if I might have whipped cream instead of icecream on my pie - and she looked at me like I was retarded!

Great food with some pretty awesome staff working there. Awesome choices on the menu, and a pretty awesome view from the booths!

Burger was 7/10, pie was amazing 9/10. Really enjoyed myself. Definitely recommend to anyone passing thru hope!

Stopped in today in the middle of lunch. Had a 20 minute wait cuz it was so busy. Menu prices were reasonable and had a bit of a wait before food came but it was well worth it. We ordered the dinner entrees of schnitzel with mushrooms and the meat loaf. Good size portions smothered in gravy with mashed potatoes and fries. For dessert we shared a huge pice of blueberry pie a la mode. A great filling meal, well with the stop and wait! read more

This is your go to place if you are really famished and need to refuel. A large menu that is sure to please everybody. But hold onto your hat when you see the portion sizes, they are definitely worth the price point. They also have smaller portions for those who want it ... but why wouldn't you want to get a to- go box, so you can savor the same delicious flavors again, right! They have a Children's menu as well. But the wait .. if if you want dessert with your meal or just with coffee, " The Home" has pies to die for and cheesecake as well as other tasty treats that is sure to make you smile and also unbutton your pants.. lol..all the better to wear your comfortable pants to dine ! It's a very fast paced environment for sure and the staff has to be the best anywear. Always very prompt customer service, although this place is very busy but the short wait is so worth it. A cozy atmosphere that has a bright dining area and lots of room for even large families to dine. Located on the Hope Princeton highway but easily accessible from the #1 & #5 highways when you pass through Hope, B.C. They also have lots of parking and is wheelchair friendly too. I'm sure once you've experienced " The Home " style cooking you'll soon be back again. This is our favorite place to eat and enjoy a nice sit down meal that we do quite often. It also has take- out but no delivery. This is also the " original " spot of their other award winning restaurants that are in other parts of B.C. So put on those stretchy jeans and get to "The Home" for some of the "Best Homestyle " dishes ever! Mmm mmm read more

Delicious!!! Great homemade food, large portions as well. Try the yummy baked macaroni and cheese! Save room for dessert because their pies, squares and cakes are amazing. Great service as well and it was very busy! I'll be sure to stop in again when driving through. read more

This is how restaurants used to be, that is before fast food took over. The style is North American dinner with the freindly service to match. Went there on Sunday lunch time so the place was very busy but worth the wait. The pie is excellent. A grateful stop just off the highway. read more

My husband and I were ignored by three different servers once we got seated and given water so we chose to leave this so-called home after 30 minutes of waiting to place our order. We'd walked in for dinner and joined a short line-up of diners. Once we were seated, a server brought us menus and water. We chose our dinner and placed our closed menus on our table waiting for our server to return and take our orders. She and two of her colleagues chose to ignore us instead. We watched in amazement as our original server seated a couple who'd been behind us in the line up, bring them water and then take their orders. We tried in vain to catch the attention of any of the servers walking by our table; few people are better at ignoring one than servers it seems. One of them finally made eye contact as we rose to leave and muttered 'sorry folks'. Well, "home" restaurant, you won't see us again. Another reviewer mentioned that customers seem to be mostly locals who are greeted by name. This place should probably consider putting up a sign 'locals get preferential service' read more

They never get my order right. 3 times and it's always something. Last chance. This time they screwed up my order and also charged me for something I didn't even order, then argued about it instead of making it right. I am not going back. Plenty of other places to go where they have decent service. read more

I had heard a lot of good things about Home. Well here is my experience. I ordered the sausage and perogies with a cup of coffee. The waitresses were friendly. I sat drinking my coffee for about 4 minutes and my plate was put in front of me. I took a bite of the sausage and it was cold in the middle. I took a bite of the perogies and they were cold in the middle. This meal would have taken a while to make had they prepared it from scratch. However I believe it was pre made and frozen and the nuked. HORRIBLE ! After waiting 15 minutes a girl came up and asked if I wanted it put in a box to go. After explaining they offered me another meal, so I chose something "safe" a clubhouse sandwich and fries. It was not bad not good. Don't understand what all the rave reviews are about? I guess if you are a desert eater....... read more

Came in on a Thursday 6:30pm. BUSY place! Service was friendly. Large portions. Nice comfort food. Been here for their breakfast and same deal. Come hungry! read more

Recently, I had occasion to visit Home Restaurant. My wife and I had been evacuated from our cabin in the Caribou because of the wildfires in BC this summer. I usually travel on highway 1, but that route was closed so I ended up taking back roads so that I could travel home on the Coquihala. When we got to Hope, after driving all night We stopped at the Home restaurant for a pancake breakfast. When I told the server that I had been evacuated at 1:30 am , She said breakfast is on us. You've no idea how good that felt. Food, service and ambience, were all excellent. read more

Food was Great and service was good. Portions are very good, even for kids. The meat loaf and pumpkin pie were super yummy. Will definitely go again when traveling through. (But they really need to do something about the Merrit one cause its terrible) read more

Judging by the size of the lineup outside and the amount of time we spent waiting for a table, we were expecting some pretty decent diner food on our commute from Vancouver to Osoyoos. Unfortunately this was not at all the case. Once seated, we looked over the menu and made our selection within minutes. We then continued to sit and wait for our server to come check on us and take our order. We waited and waited and ended up asking at least 3 different servers if we could order and they all responded "your server will be here soon to take your order". Finally she's arrived and we ordered our food and coffee. And waited. We had to ask several times for our water and coffee to be refilled as well. Once our food arrived, we were starving and dug into our large portion of food. One of us ordered breakfast and the other 2 ordered lunch. The breakfast was fine, standard diner breakfast so no complaints. The sandwiches and fries on the other hand were both very cold. The server did come by and when we mentioned that the fries were cold she quickly replaced them with fresh hot fries. However the fries were tasteless and probably some of the worst fries we've tasted. Still we were starving so we ate what we could. Now.. what enticed us right from our arrival was the massive pie display at the front of the restaurant and I decided right then no matter how full I was I would order pie. This would make up for the mediocre meal. I decided on the banana cream pie. It came quickly and I dug in... right into the thickest layer of artificial, coolwhip/oil based whip topping I've ever put in my mouth. One bite in and I was beyond disappointed. The other two at the table would not even try it. We politely told the server that we did not want the pie and it was not what we were expecting and asked if she could just take it away and remove it from the bill (it was only 4.99). After some attitude from her, the (possible?) manager came over clearly irate and demanded to find out what our issue with the pie was. She insisted it was fresh homemade whipped cream and when we said we did not like it her attitude was not what we would have expected from a customer service standpoint. She offered to scrape off the topping and replace it with "whipped cream from an aerosol can". We said no thank you we just wanted it removed from the bill. She left in a huff and we could not get out of there fast enough. Upon leaving, some pending customers asked how the food was and mentioned they were fussy eaters. We said "from our experience not good". They turned around and left to find somewhere else to eat. We might be spoiled by our fabulous food in Vancouver but we have certainly had some good diner food over the years. This place was not one of those on the list. We will not be returning or recommending to anyone in the future. One of our party is actually from Hope herself and she said the food was terrible and suggested maybe they changed cooks since the last time she was there. read more

If you're a vegetarian this is not the place for you. Vegetarian options would be limited to salads, macaroni and cheese and veggie burger. If you feel like a carb overload the macaroni and cheese is pretty tasty. I tried the chocolate pie and it's ok. I probably wouldn't order it again. Service is friendly though. read more

Food is great when it's prepared the way I want it. I really don't appreciate when I've asked for crispy hash browns specifically, they don't do it and then proceed to blame me for having to throw something away because they didn't do it right to begin with. And then when I wait and wait and wait for them to be redone they come back just the way they were to begin with. Terrible customer service! read more

Mediocre diner. Staff was friendly, food was average quality. Beverage selection below average. Burger was sloppy, made with average ingredients. Food served well and not a long wait. read more

Breakfast was good, lots of stuff on your plate, although I've heard so much about it that I thought it would be amazing. Other than the delicious pie and good service everything else is ordinary. But I would go here again fair prices, decent food, good service and clean washrooms. read more

Very busy expect a wait. Good food but I had to give a low star rating because of our experience in the wait line. After 15 min waiting behind a couple families, a waitress finally came up to take names but skipped over us and went to the ppl behind us for their names. I promptly told her we were before them and she jotted our names down. When we finally made it to the front of wait line a waiter came up and called for the ppl waiting behind us. I told him we were actually next and that the girl wrote down the wrong order of names as she initially skipped over us. He said there was nothing he could do and of course the couple behind us didnt say anything because they just wanted to get ahead of us. I complained to an older waitress and she also told me there was nothing she could do. No apologies nothing....an apology would have been nice and that experience ruined it for me as we waited over half hour in line. Don't wanna bother coming again if the staff can't simply ask "who is next and doesnt have their name in yet?" read more

Very disappointed, not busy empty tables. Waiting to be seated, no acknowledgement that we were there.. waitresses busy socializing.. finally got seated. While waiting looked at menu.. and were ready to order, told someone would be right with us had to wait 5 min to place order. No consistency not good service and I have been in the business for decades read more

We first encountered this restaurant in Hope as we were passing through to the island from Calgary. Waited 1/2 hour to get seated but was well worth it. Since then we have eaten at the one in Maple Ridge , and the one in Salmon Arm. All of them equally good in quality and quantity. I am actually wondering about the franchise and getting it expanded to Calgary if anyone out there can help me research this it would be appreciated. Much needed home style eatery required here. read more

Amazing food, good service, great prices and the best dessert selection everrr! Just had a giant burger, poutine, coffee and pie for under $22. Great family diner setting and also good for a quick bite after work. read more

great food and service the only reason the restaurant did not get 5 stars from me is the wait time and the waiting area is horrible. Waiting patrons have to crowd around the entrance usually blocking the doorway and you are standing elbow to elbow with everyone. But this only proves that the food is worth the wait. Generous portions and great quality the servers are always friendly, helpful, and efficient. read more

We stopped in at this place on the way to BC from Alberta. It was a little bit of a wait on a week night (to give you an idea of the level of business they get). Apparently the revolving door of starved travelers results in servers unconcerned with providing good and consistent service. We were not asked ONCE if we needed a refill of anything at all- I had to call the server over eventually- not a big deal... but this must have pissed her off because when I proceeded a little bit later to ask what the fries were fried in (they tasted peanuty) I was met with *roll of the eyes "ummm canola? because thats the only oil you can put in a deep fryer?..." I responded that I was just curious as I was taken aback by her rudeness. As she came back up (to take payment and what she hoped would be a tip- dream on) we were informed it was part canola and part another type of oil. As someone who spent years working in the service industry... wtf. bad attitude and bad service. and the fish and chips i ordered was kind of gross which only made it less forgivable. read more

While the food and pie are always good, the service has taken a huge step down. We have been frequenting this restaurant for at least 10 years and as of this week, will no longer do so. Our hostess and waitress were so unbelievably rude and offensive to us that we ended up walking out before even ordering. We were there well before closing time, at least 2.5 hours. We were polite, and didn't ask for anything unreasonable, just a table that comfortably sat our party of 5 adults, and a bit of time to look over the menu. We were told we would have to "squish" into a booth made for 4, because the other tables were clean. And then the waitress asked us twice in the space of 5 minutes if we were ready to order - the first time I was still standing! Both of them were extremely rude when we requested a larger table, and when we asked for another minute to look over the menu. Our coffees were half full, stale, and they didn't bring us cream. When we chose to leave, they just smirked and watched us go. I find this absolutely unacceptable service for any establishment, but especially in a restaurant that was half empty at the time and claims to have such great service. My advice would be to avoid this place after the dinner hour at the very least. read more
