This is a diner with some slightly elevated options--enough that my family ate here for breakfast two days in a row. We're vegetarian so I can't speak at all to the meat options, but we enjoyed the crepes with fruit (the blueberries and the peaches were not soupy sugar sloughs like at IHOP). the Earl Gray tea was actually good (I'm used to poor quality tea being scalded or diluted at other establishments, at least in the States), the cinnamon bun was appropriately sweet and chock full of cinnamon and didn't have any frosting on it, the eggs had super rich and orange yolks (we had them scrambled and poached). And they had some more health-focused options like grapefruit and cottage cheese. The wait staff was attentive--always coming around to check if we needed more coffee or water. read more

We had a great breakfast this morning at Rollys It's cool to find old school dinners that are still serving great coffee and food that's not someone's artistic expression. Simple straightforward dishes that are large, tasty and reasonably priced. Many of the chain restaurants leave me with a heavy feeling in my stomach and even get stomach acid after having breaky or brunch and especially if it includes pancakes. It's 6 hrs later and I feel great. I appreciate that they are not discriminating against and/or leaving out customers with the apoling implementation of the passport. It's a shame that people don't understand what's at stake in our country and how we are being pitted against each other for an agenda that's not good for the average person. It was back to 'Rolly's' the first morning of our 2-night, mid-June stay in Hope. Daughter and I did an early-am walkabout, then popped back to the motel, caught Mom, and headed to the restaurant for breakfast. Everything was on-the-mark -- with good, prompt and friendly service, and some nicely-presented, and well-prepared, tasty meals. For Mom - fried eggs, hashbrown potatoes, toast, and ham (a nice slice of ham!) -- for daughter - her 'usual' breakfast there - waffle, topped with fruit and whipped cream -- for me - went out of the usual breakfast fare a touch this time - a toasted 'BLT' (bacon, lettuce & tomato) sandwich, ordered with potato salad, and came with some cole slaw as well. Once again, another fun, and enjoyed dining experience at 'Rolly's' - which is becoming a quite familiar, and favourite breakfast dining spot during our stays in Hope. read more

This visit was my first one ever to this establishment due to a recommendation from a friend and fellow yelper. The atmosphere was quaint, service was very friendly and they treat you like family. The menu has a wide variety of food options. While service was very slow (our food took almost 45 minutes) once the food did arrive it was tasty and fresh. While a few members of my group opted for breakfast, I opted for lunch and I was glad I did since it was 1:30 by the time the food arrived. I had the hot roast beef sandwich which was excellent. The roast beef was tender and the gravy was delicious. We will visit Rollys again when we are in the area. read more

Stopped in for dinner on the way home from Chilliwack. My wife and I stop in every so often - maybe a few times in a year. The service has always been great. The food on the other hand is hit and miss; sometimes it's decent, and other times I ask myself why I came here (because the wife likes it a lot). I ordered zucchini sticks and spaghetti tonight. The zucchini sticks were quite bland, compared with those at most restaurants. The spaghetti was a large serving. When I ordered, I asked for extra sauce, as I hate 'naked,' flavorless spaghetti. When it arrived, there was a full half inch of water at the bottom of the wide bowl, and not even enough sauce to cover the top of the noodles. I should have photographed it for you. So this is what 'extra' sauce looks like? I asked the waitress for more sauce, and she told me there would be a 'small up charge' for more sauce. I said no problem. So I received a very small bowl of sauce - basically as much as would fit in one ladle scoop. Later when I saw the bill, I found I'd been charged 5 bucks for the sauce; pretty much a gouge for what it was. And I will add that the sauce is very lacking in body or flavor. My wife order a side of fried mushrooms. Not only were the mushrooms not fried, the whole plate was mostly completely raw, as you would expect on a salad. So we sent the mushrooms back to be cooked properly, and when they came back, although they were mostly cooked, there were still a few that were partly raw, and not a single mushroom was even a tiny bit browned. The cook here apparently does not know how to fry mushrooms. See the photos and you'll easily spot the uncooked parts. I still recommend Rolly's as a convenient place for comfort food, as long as you are fussy about flavor and quality. It's hit and miss. Sometimes the food here is quite good. I'll just add that over the five years my wife and I have been eating here, the service has always been good, and the waitresses usually make an effort to be friendly. read more

Locals seem to think this place is great but I have to greatly disagree. We stopped here after a day trip outing. First of all, the servers do not seem to care at all about COVID-19 safety. They were not wearing masks and made no effort to distance themselves when serving us- this is extremely concerning. Both my boyfriend and I ordered fettuccine Alfredo- I ordered mine with chicken and he ordered the seafood one. The sauce was disgusting- it was sweet for some reason which it definitely should not be. Even the garlic toast was sweet because it's made with a store bought low quality bread like wonder bread or something. In addition to this, the chicken on mine tasted like it was one of those pre-cut and pre-cooked sliced chicken that was simply re-heated. Another person we were with ordered the seafood crepe which was a bit better but still not great. The 4th person ordered breakfast (pancakes, eggs, sausage) which was decent but it's pretty hard to mess up breakfast. I don't generally have high expectations for diners but this was particularly below quality. I would possibly return but for breakfast only- would not recommend for lunch or dinner unless it's your only option. read more

Pleasant and attentive service, cosy decor, and cleqn rest rooms: everything you could ask for in a diner! Oh, and delicious food. I had a veggie omelette which was stuffed with veggies and my friend had bacon and eggs. The waitress offered him a pancake instead of toast, which he got, and said was really good. (I thought that was a nice touch because most breakfast places I've been to sell you pancakes in groups of three.). We each also got a large pile of hash browns, nice and hot. Goddamn. Rolly's. This place is so good. It's one of the best things about getting to Hope before a scenic canyon drive. All of the menu items are standalone classics. The French bun on the beef dip just ready to dive in the jus pool. That slaw! The pies! Perfectly shredded hash browns and legit Hollandaise sauce on the Benny's so buttery your lips shine. And let's not forget the other breakfast items! Short stacks and waffles dripping with Canadian maple syrup, cute link sausage and that quality Fraser valley meat selection. *Personally my meal partner and I could have done without the deep fried dill pickles, but I realize that's a highly personal choice, and they do not bring down the heavy hitting menu as a whole. However, we did find service for coffee top-ups and water refills to be very attentive - waitresses came by every 15 minutes or so to check in on us. Food was your typical diner fare, nothing fancy, nothing exciting. It was just somewhere to sit down and have a meal before returning to the road on your way to some place better. I used to always stop at Rolly's when passing through Hope. Very friendly staff and varied menu. Now I read that Rolly's does not care about my health because they have refused to follow provincial health regulations by not requiring proof of vaccinations the way 99% of other restaurants do and as required. Well If Rolly's is going to be cavalier about my health for whatever bone headed reason that they dreamed up, they can do so without my patronage from now on. Rally Headquarters for our Heart of Darkness Rally. I was first a customer of here years ago when we'd drop in for breakfast on our way to our parents house. My brother Jason L introduced it to me. Years later we found out the rally guys would all meet up here for food before and after the rallies. So this year, they were kind enough to let us dine here with a group of rally folks before the start of the rally and after the rally when it ended the next morning. This is the kind of place I'd really like to like. Decor from the late 70's, rose colored everything and clunky old oak chairs.... looking just about as good as they did back then, perhaps a little faded. Some of the waitstaff are from that era too, all friendly enough local gals who keep your coffee topped up. The breakfast menu was very basic, not a lot of choice unless you wanted to pay extra, it's not a problem but don't go here expecting great combo selections or interesting creations. The prices were about $3 higher than we thought they should be considering it is a small town diner, average coffee at best, simple basic bacon and eggs will run you $10 + $2.25 for coffee. The food was average, nothing stood out. One of us tried the buckwheat pancakes but unfortunately they tasted like buttermilk pancakes with a little buckwheat mixed in - not true buckwheat pancakes. Use caution, they put a lot of butter on the pancakes. Lots of parking out front, easy access from the highway. Large dining room, we even saw large families of 8+ able to get a table without trouble. read more

The first time we ate here the burgers were great and we were excited because our usual drive in stop had closed. The next time we had breakfast and it was a huge disappointment, I ordered the omelette benny and the hollondaise sauce was split and inedible. The next time I can't even remember what we ordered but it wasn't great and the waitress was clearly off her rocker so much so that she couldn't even handle simple requests like getting us more napkins. This may be a matter of taste. "Butter" is margarine. Hash browns are fried in a type of oil or on a stove that makes them taste "off". Coffee was hot and pretty good, the mushroom and cheese omelet was good, though oily. Pancakes are from a mix we were told, and have that commercial tang to them instead of true buttermilk. But it's a nice, clean, and adequate place for breakfast, and staff is responsive. read more

It has been a tradition of ours for more than 15 years to stop at Rolly's for breakfast whenever we're travelling to the Okanagan (or beyond). We've never left hungry or disappointed, and that speaks volumes. This morning we went in, on our way to Penticton, and it was hopping! We usually leave home early, and are there before 8am, but we were late getting away this time. Cruised in to the parking lot around 11am. Lots of parking, but it was almost full. Server was very quick to come with coffee, but breakfast took a little longer than usual. As another reviewer mentioned, the prices are a few dollars higher than they should be, considering the late 70's decor, and small town location. But, prices aside, the food was excellent. Bacon and eggs were as they should be. Hash browns are plentiful. I have to remind myself to try the pancakes next time, they look great! Overall, it's been a tradition, and will continue to be a tradition, to eat at Rolly's before a road trip. On our way through Hope, we stopped here for breakfast. My friend said they had the best creme soups, the same servers, and all around delicious food so it was a no brainer. The decor is classic diner. The waitresses are all super friendly and make you feel like your family. The food, simple and delicious. I ordered the potato pancakes with poached eggs and sliced tomatoes and it was so basic and flavourful. My friend ordered a BLT sandwich (huge and came with fries and coleslaw), pancakes (fluffy and delicate with either maple or raspberry syrup), and sausage and eggs (again, huge and smelled so amazing). Been coming to Rolly's for over 17 years, it's our go to place prior to backpacking or rafting in Lytton. Place is always clean and staff (mostly older ladies) super friendly. They have updated menu and even the sign up front and now have a "rolly" fat chef as their trademark. Food is hearty and plentiful - especially enjoy the breakfast menu. The waffles, pancakes and popular hash browns are delicious.
