They took advantage of my kind nature. Added up the prices outrageously. Ruined my siding. Refused to call us back when they said that they would, they just ignored us. Cut trim work two inches short on the bottom and do not put the 2 pieces on the top together. We also wanted to add a window, we already have weather guard through the rest of the house, and he said that he could get us a much better window than weathergard. LOL hila hilarious the window he put in was so chincy and cheap. Very disappointed might have been better if they had come back to fix the things that they said they were going to come back and fix, which they never did. read more

When things are supposed to happen make it happen, been waiting over 6 months for a garage to be built. I understand some things but when you tell a customer one thing hold true to your word. I wish I could say I would recommend you but with just concrete poured I can't. Also told supplies would be delivered and nope not delivered. Update to the Homebase Saga a piece of siding fell of both sides of house, the first time fixed it no issue, then all of a sudden the one piece they fixed fell again and because I didn't notice it until my neighbor pointed it out ( faces his house )I called about it and after a week and a half got a call back ( within the week and a half more pieces fell off because of winds and now I'm told there will be a charge) mind you we're still under 2 years of completion date. Three years ago my husband and I took out a second mortgage on our condo. Owner of HOME BASE came to our house and told us what he could do for us. We were satisfied with work. Did not complete project as he has originally wrote up. Right after the work was completed, my husband passed. A few months later I called office and said I had some problems that I needed them to address, Owner called and I told him the few problems I had. He was defensive, asked me why I didn't call right after and report problems. I didn't tell him my husband had died right after and I was just trying to stay alive. He really accused me of damaging the things that needed to be addressed, he hung up and I never heard from them again. read more

Based on a recommendation from my friend, Home Base did a wide variety of exterior updates on my Allen Park bungalow on Osage Ave. Roof, windows, siding and trim, entry and storm doors, garage door and opener. The result is amazing! The prices were competitive, no surprises at all and the workmanship is top notch. This is a picture of the wiring behind one of my cabinets in my bathroom. The company doing my remodel noticed my sink was not put in correctly, so they had to reposition the entire cabinet to place my sink properly. To my surprise, the cabinet was hiding significant damage to the wall as well as improper wiring (see the attached picture). This is how they placed my cabinet 20 years ago. There was an exposed wire in front of the drywall in the corner and no cover on the wall plate. The cabinet butted up against it. Seems to me that would be a safety violation and fire hazard. I went back to Home Base in Lincoln Park to speak with Todd, the president of the company. He informed me that 20 years is a lifetime ago and wouldn't do anything to reimburse me the extra cost I incurred to repair HIS company's improper instillation. I advise everyone DO NOT USE THEM FOR ANY HOME IMPROVEMENTS!!! They do not stand behind their service. Unfortunately my address is incorrect on my location...it's actually Michigan. read more

waited 11 months for bathroom to get started. once it was started it took 46 days to "complete". probably because they started it without having the shower door on hand causing me to have to buy curtain/ring/rods to even shower. job eventually cost 4k more than what was originally quoted on estimate and to be honest im not happy with any of the work except the one thing that was subcontracted and done by another company. the bathroom shower was done well, but the drywall and paint next to it was done very poorly, so it makes the rest of the bathroom looks like crap. wasnt taped off and wasnt even painted on several spots of the trim. eventually got fed up with all the weak excuses they had and paid another company to actually finish the job. Brand new double garage door along with new front n side doors and storm doors, so perfect and airtight again replacement of original 90 year old doors. I had Home Base & Construction do work on my house in 2011. Terrible job! Took two weeks to roof my house and garage and I was told it would take less than a week. Had some repairs done to my basement sill and when they put the door back on, it wasn't square. The moldings were put on wrong and I had to fix everything they did. They put several dents in my siding and scratched a window. The owner came out and used a stone to try and get the scratch out and just screwed it up more. But besides that, they only had to come out twice to stop a leak in my roof. read more

After we signed papers and handed the owner the deposit it went down hill from there! We planned on them building an 1100 sq ft addition. Communication was horrible, I basically had to call them every 2 weeks so find anything out. All they would say was after Thanksgiving they will start, when that came and went I called back and the owner said they would order the wood the week of Christmas! Why was it not ordered?!? Kept calling still no date! Then in the beginning of February we were called in for a meeting. He NEVER ordered the wood and now need more money. This was the second time he was trying to increase the amount! We understood the first time because prices of lumber increased. Now he still has no date cause he never ordered the wood! I decided to give this company a chance after reading the negative reviews. I should've listened to the reviews..I called multiple times to get someone to come out and get an estimate. Finally Todd's son in law comes out to do estimate. He said he would have estimate done within a few days. I waited a week & called. I called 5x (son in law) to get estimate. Home Base was suppose to do my kitchen (a very small job less than 5,000). I finally called Todd to see if they even wanted my job & what was going on. He went over estimate & son in law left out most of the things he was suppose to do for kitchen. Todd told me that his son in law didn't think Home Base would want to do the job.( I'm guessing since it was such a small job). Todd said he would come & redo the estimate himself. He did come out & do estimate which added on extra costs that son in law "forgot" to add to estimate. SMH! I was told since it was such a small job that it would take 1-2 days to complete & that they would fit me into the schedule since it was so small. I waited a month after cabinets were ordered & called Todd. He told me to call him back next week to see about putting me into the schedule.I called every week for a month straight getting the same BS excuse about not being able to fit me in & to call back the following week. I knew he was blowing me off for bigger & more expensive jobs since he wasn't making much money off of my kitchen. I finally got tired of his flippin excuses & told him I wanted to buy the cabinets & have someone more reliable to do the job. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO USE HOME BASE EVER!! THEY ARE A INCOMPENTANT COMPANY. I SHOULD'VE WENT WITH MY 1ST INSTINCT WHEN I READ HORRIBLE REVIEWS ONLINE ABOUT THEM.1ST STIRKE~ THEN WHEN SON IN LAW DIDNT HAVE A CLUE WHAT HE WAS DOING. UPDATE: January 2016, and we are more delighted than we were in the first review. The more we use the shower the closer we see things, and the more certain we are that we made the right choice. Even simple things like the grout joints are excellent. My wife is very style conscious, but always worried about budget, so she tends to take a good year to pick something out for the house because every time she sees something she likes, she thinks it's too expensive, and when she sees what's available in her desired price point, none of it matches her 'vision'. This is where Home Base REALLY made the difference. My wife scoured all the big box stores, tile shops, and websites, but could never find the right tile at the right price. She didn't think it would get any better with Home Base when I told her she had a $5.00 per square foot tile allowance in the overall bid. Home Base sent her to this area where there are numerous tile and stone fabricators and wholesalers, the same ones that supply all the retailers, but with an excellent and long-time relationship with Home Base, and my wife was overwhelmed with the selection of the higher end tiles and granite's she envisioned, all in the price range she wanted. No one else could have TOUCHED the deal we got. We know because we looked very hard. Our shower is gorgeous. Not only that, but they managed to fit in a built-in bench with a granite top and matching granite threshold for the same price others bid without a bench and no granite of any kind, AND for just a few bucks more we purchased a custom cut piece of the same granite to make a countertop for my wife's new dressing area. Now how cool is that? One more thing, and I think this is important: when I went to the Home Base office to give them the final payment for the completed job, I walked to the back of the store and looked in to the room where their big job board is, this is where all the projects they have going on or coming up are posted and scheduled, and I was blown away. TONS of jobs for all kinds of work: basements, remodels, showers and bathrooms, kitchens... Everything. What's more, with all these things on their plate they still manage to be as responsive, thorough, and overdelivering on their underpromises, I cannot recommend them any more highly. I wish I could give them ZERO stars! Awful customer service. You have to follow up phone call after phone call in order to get Todd, the owner on the phone. They cut corners and don't stand by their work despite their "10 year warranty". I had a kitchen remodel in 2011 (complete gut down to the studs) that had a lot of issues (lack of finishing, rough cuts, incorrect floor installation, gaps between cabinets and wall, unfinished areas - plain drywall - behind appliances). On 8/10/17 I had a city inspection in order to sell the house. He informed me that the electrical in the kitchen was not up to code for lack of GFI outlets. He informed me that it was code back in 2011 when the work was done. I contacted the owner, Todd, about this and he told me that he would be happy to give me an estimate to install new outlets, but he will not fix his error of code violation. He explained that, in order to do that during the remodel, he would have had to pull an electrical permit from the city (which he didn't do). I asked him how he was able to do the other electrical work in the kitchen (install new light switch and outlets) without pulling a permit. He was very defensive. All I wanted him to do was to bring the kitchen electrical up to code so I can sell the house...something that should have been done correctly from the beginning. So if you're looking for a shoddy job that doesn't meet building code requirements, poor customer service, and a company that doesn't stand by it's "work", then this is the company for you. Bathroom Remodel.I wish I could give them no star, I gave them a F.Hired Home Base May 3rd 2019.They said they start in 4 weeks.They did not start the job till July 8th.Thats when the nightmare began.The first day they damaged our bathroom wall.Todd came out and said thats all they usually do more damage than that.My husband had to fix the wall.Than they put in wrong vanity cabinet and our sink was not in the right spot, it took 3 weeks to get another vanity cabinet. They came had to remove countertop and remove the wrong cabinet.When they went out to the truck to get new cabinet they had the wrong cabinet again! They had to put the wrong cabinet back and put countertop back on. The next day they came with a cabinet still wasn't what we wanted but okay. While installing it they busted the other vanity cabinet! I was so upset!Todd said your upset about that I can fix it and the countertop will cover it. Are you kidding me I'm paying new and I'm supposed to be okay with broken oh but there's so much more the toilet installed was leaking he sends a worker out he did not fix it. My husband had to fix the toilet from leaking his self on his birthday. The toilet was crooked which they did come out and fix that. There are three chips in the wall tiles. You couldn't put the shower on because didn't work 3 things for the shower have been replaced now it works but it doesn't match the colors. The tub had chips in it,in the inside on the outside of the tub 2 scratches. Shower doors don't work properly. The sink was put in the wrong spot on the countertop. The water wouldn't go down the tub but they had to fix that. The sink does not hold water. The cabinets have Nicks and scratches the only thing that was right was the floor everything else wrong broken nicked up it was a nightmareTodd said he was going to order us a new tub. 3 weeks later still no tub. Intact houses that it after he receives the tub it would be three to four weeks probably before they could replace it what he's on other jobs you haven't finished my job he said you haven't out functional bathroom! Yes I had a functional bathroom but a bathroom that was not right and broken and nicked up.At this point we didn't want them back in our home because every time they came they broke something messed something else up!On September 9th 2019 remember this project started on May 3rd 2019. So September 9th we terminated our contract with HomeBase. Homebase is very unprofessional and they do very poor work.Todd the owner said to my husband one day when he went in to say the things that were wrong.Todd said what are you doing taking a magnifying glass to find mistakes are you kidding me. He also told me this isn't Homebase work well who's work was it then! He knew everything he did was wrong oh he also said some people you just can't make happy well I told him I've had many companies do work at my home I have never complained about one of them I have never ever this is the worst nightmare he is a rude arrogant man! He had excuses for everything it was the company he got the supplies from it was his son-in-law's fault which we signed with and his son-in-law resigned from the company his son-in-law didn't do the work. Don't hire them take my word I will show you the pictures I will show you my bathroom I am not kidding. contracted to have this company redo our bathroom at the end of may. work wasn't completed until the middle of august. the management is very hard to get ahold of and not very big on communication. that being said, the actual work was quite well done. we are very please with the bathroom. there was a matter of rotten floor boards and horrible plumbing, which is been quite satisfactorily taken care of. the tile work is great and the fixtures are gorgeous. we particularly like the sunken medicine cabinet. so, while i would give the admin side of home base an one, i would give the work side of the company a four. read more

I had my porch done by this company 4 years ago the job came out to about $6000. I complained about the porch from day 1. Todd dotson the owner said he would fix it.. 4 years later...... The porch is cracking. I called them again and Todd said that he would have to come out and look at the porch that was in May 14.2016. It is now almost the end of June still have not seen Todd what so ever. I call his office and he refuses to talk to me.. So now i guess i take him to court and sue him for the replacement of the cap on my porch. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. I had my kitchen redone over the summer and I don't think I could have been more pleased. The customer service was very friendly and polite every single time we talked. The job was done in a timely manner and the clean up afterwards was very tidy and neat. Everyone I talked to was very nice and could cater to my tight schedule. I had Home Base put an addition on the back of our house . I have been very pleased from the 1st meeting I had with Todd till the last worker left my house .. All the workers was very polite did the work in timely matter.. There cleanup was outstanding. Two years ago I spent almost $4,000 on doors and a picture window in my house and the doors don't close properly, the window doesn't close properly and there's condensation between the panes. They sent people out twice and the problem still isn't resolved. I was told not to use them but I did it anyway because of the price and the 10 year warranty! read more
