A friend recommended Northwest Construction after hearing that I couldn't get anyone to fix my leaky roof. I placed the call on a Friday, that following week, as promised, I was contacted by John who came out for an estimate. Where other roofing contractors were trying to sell me a new roof that I don't need, John discovered that nothing on my roof had been caulked or sealed, causing the leak. Within a few days, someone came out, caulked everything, and replaced a few nails. Price was very reasonable and above that, I appreciate and value the integrity and honesty with which this company works. They are on top of my list for any future roofing or construction needs I may have. read more

Gary is unprofessional, it got so bad we insisted Terry the owner take over the project. Conveniently the day of demo on our bathroom both Terry and Gary show up and Terry thanks us for letting Gary take the project over, something we never agreed to. I will say I was thrilled with the subcontractor but next time I will skip the middle man and book directly with the subcontractor. Communication with NW was minimal unless it had to do with a payment. By the way I will inform you of the 3% fee tacked on to credit card payment I was not informed of until I was ready to make a payment. LOTS of communication issues, we will not be using NW in the future. I suggest Terry does some damage control before Gary brings his company down. The photos show the work of the subcontractor, NW does not do their own work and happily charges a 20% PROFIT MARGIN. Please be aware of all the hidden costs and don't make the same mistake we did. The service has to be some of the worst I've ever encountered. I signed up to have my roof and siding done in September of 2015, it wasn't completed until January. I asked the owner Terry to give me a quote for a Garage, Never showed up. Asked him to put up an Awning in March of 2016, I couldn't even get a call back until June. I work for a company that specializes in client service, so I appreciate someone who cares about service and returning phone calls. On October 31st, 2012, my husband and I purchased a fixer upper in the Metro-Detroit area. We had our hands full, but we managed to get half of the house fully completed by 2014. Then, disaster struck... In August 2014, the lower half of our bi-level was flooded with sewage back-up from heavy rains. The rooms that had been fully completed (Family, Kitchen & Dining Rooms) were harmed in the flood and at that point my husband and I decided to take a break from fixing up the house. To get away from it all, we planned to take a trip to relax and clear our heads to prepare for another 2 years of home repair. Right before we had left for our trip our hot water heater exploded and the bathroom upstairs started leaking. Right at this point, we were beyond frustrated and in over our heads... we needed help. After researching and calling multiple contractors and handy-men, we finally came across a company we could trust. Northwest Construction, a family owned business, peaked my interest due to their amazing reviews and their portfolio. Terry - Roofing & Siding, one of the owners, was the first person we had met. He was very professional and took the time to give us details about what needed to be done, and how much it would cost. His team of professionals, including Aaron - Windows, and Ron Bozzi - Bathrooms also came out to the house to talk about options and how I could stay within my budget. It was amazing that I was involved every step of the way. So, it was clear that my whole house needed some tlc, but what needed to be done first was the leaking bathroom, roof and windows. They first came out to remove my leaking chimney and shingle my roof. It only took them a couple of days, and it looks absolutely amazing. They used excellent quality shingles, and installed new vents. Terry's roofing and siding team got the job done and did a wonderful job. Next, they installed Anderson windows for an excellent price. Our old windows emitted heat in the summer and cold during the winter, and it was extremely uncomfortable. It was so bad that we had to put duct tape around the edges and trash bags over the glass. So, when they installed the new ones, I was in heaven. Aaron, the window guru, was very helpful and honest, unlike Wall-Side windows who wanted to charge us an arm and a leg. Last, and this was the BIG project, was the bathroom. I hated this bathroom. It had disgusting pea green tile from the 70s, and leaks from the shower and, eww, the toilet. My husband and I had stripped the whole bathroom including expanding it to make it larger and more comfortable for a family. Ron Bozzi, and his side-kick Chris, came to our rescue and spent time helping us choose the best options for the bathroom while sticking to the budget. We gave Ron no easy task. The bathroom needed updates from its 70s wiring to uneven studs. Ron, however, fixed it all. I love it when a contractor takes the time to fix the problem and not cover it up. There was nothing Ron couldn't handle. In the end, the bathroom looks amazing and I couldn't be happier. Terry and his team made me very happy. I plan on hiring them for more projects in the future. They treat you like family, and respect your needs and wants for your house. I so glad I went with Northwest Construction. read more

A simple bathroom install took 2 1/2 months--- a workman was there M-F from 8 30 am to 4 30 pm--mostly sitting around--slow, slow going with lots of excuses...... the designer John--a control freak, lots of excuses as to why the job is going slow--and all he does is talk and talk about the same things over and over--unreal. Used my entire garage to store things for another job until I caught on and told them to move their stuff. Sink faucet handle is loose--- never , never hire this company--please ! read more

After disappointing dealing with several other roofing firms with either sky high estimates or just being able to get a quote from them at all I contacted NorthWest. Gary came out promptly and and wrote up what I considered a very fair estimate. The job was supposed to start in a week to 10 days from the Tuesday when I faxed them the acceptance. Gary called that Wednesday and said they had an opening onThursday and they planned to start then. Unfortunately it rained, but Friday was beautiful. The crew was fast and efficient and got the roof completed in one day. The siding man had to come back the next day to finish up some minor details and the job was done. They had forgotten to put back up some eaves they took down, but that was quickly remedied. I would recommend Northwest and will probably use them when it is time to replace the roof on my primary residence. read more

Extremely high estimate for a new roof without getting up on the roof to measure! I was getting several estimates for a new roof and decided to contact Northwest Construction based on good reviews I read here on YELP. When their sales guy showed up (Adam), he said he could not get on the roof to measure due to a sore knee. OK....really?? Then the estimate he produced was $4500 MORE than any of the estimates I got from 5 other companies. Wanting to compare 'apples to apples', I called back to ask how many squares the estimate was based on. He told me he may have made a calculation error and sent me a revised estimate for 5 squares less than all the other estimates AND STILL HIGHER than all the others. It took weeks after signing the agreement and multiple calls and emails. Response was always poor and nothing but excuses. Siding install finish work was sad. We complained and that too took weeks to get someone back out. Siding was scratched, measurements on cutting was poor. The fix..fill with caulk. Some areas were inches wide...just caulk! Scratches, gave us a can of spray paint to do ourselves. We waited for their A TEAM! Got the F TEAM! After their return trip to address our concerns, still looks like a poor job! I guess we will hire someone that knows what they are doing to get it right! Customer service is sad and workers don't care about work or the concerns of the customer. Garbage was left everywhere including nails. I would recommend NOT using this company. read more

I recently had a new roof put on my half of a duplex. I initially called some nationally recognized companies, but when they wouldn't do the job, a neighbor recommended NorthWest. Am I glad she did! Terry Burke, the owner, came to give the estimate and was very professional, honest, and friendly. The work crew (crew chief Steve, Brett, and Ryan) were amazing. They also were very professional, personable, and patient with my questions. They took the time to explain things to me, and were considerate of my neighbors (important, since I share a driveway!). The guys worked really hard, and did a great job. They were there when they said they would be, and made sure I was satisfied with their work. They were even concerned for my safety with an upstairs metal awning that was loose, and tried to fix it, even though that was not part of the job. I was especially impressed with their clean-up of the job site. I did not find one nail, piece of shingle, paper ..... Nothing! (Friends who have had roofing jobs done by other companies warned me that I would find nails all over. They were shocked when I told them how clean everything was!) When the job was finished, Steve and Brett shook my hand and thanked me for the work. When he came to inspect the job when it was finished, Terry did the same. A couple days after the roof was done we had a bad storm and everything was watertight and in great shape -- as promised! I highly recommend this company and would absolutely call NorthWest again for future projects, and will definitely refer them to friends and family! In this day and age, it is very difficult to find companies that are more focused on the quality of their work rather than "finishing the job and moving on to the next one as fast as possible to make a quick buck", like most companies I previously have dealt with. With my recent experience with NorthWest Construction, they certainly demonstrated they are one of the rare companies that takes great pride in their workmanship and are very detail and customer oriented. Often, companies will neglect you once you've agreed to have a job completed. However, Terry Burke, the owner of the company, always kept me in the loop regarding the progress of the porch/walkway project his company completed for me. The price of the extensive work that was performed was also very reasonable. Terry made sure I was fully satisfied with the work and that I got exactly what I asked for. An old school business that takes their time to do things "the right way" which is very appreciated. Thank you to you Terry, as well as your staff, for everything.
