Terrible! Went here on a rainy Saturday for BBQ. Ordered Rib Special and Punch. The ribs looked and tasted like leftovers. The meat did not give fresh smoke coloring or flavor. The presentation was horrific. The punch tasted sour like it was old but covered up with sugar. To know they looked at this plate and believed it to be acceptable when they plated this food.....No need to speak on the service. So disappointed. The meat comes already sauced and no more is needed. All tastes good. Fries are spiral and thin and tasty. Chicken softer and tender and rib meat was galling off the bone- perfect. I had amazing experience the food was amazing, I had the pulled pork and sandwich n my pops had the whole whiting fish he enjoyed. The customer service was great as well. They do have certain limited items on the menu such as like a turkey leg the shop has very nice decor and during a certain times of the day they will have sports on. When they brought our food out, they presented it opened it up and asked if we liked it, I had ordered a chicken salad and the salad layout was nice. It had no tomatoes and onions like I had requested online. It had was cucumbers and croutons, and my barbecue chicken was on top. There was no salad dressing at the time which I statedcranvh on my online order notes so I figured it was coming in the bag. My other 2 friends ordered sandwiches and those look delicious and fine. The service was well enough and the young lady was friendly and knowledgeable. The issue was with the food itself. It took approx 20 minutes for our order to be completed but when received the meat(while delivious and sauced well)- my half chicken and his rib tips were barely warm. But the main area of improvement came with the sides order. I had the mac and cheese which was just okay and the baked beans that were tolerable but the green beans were no more than a poor from a can. I advised the lady that you can contract me out to make green beans for the establishment. My friend said the cole slaw was edible. The young lady at the counter was very customer-friendly, but I must say not very helpful when it came to ordering. The wait time was about 15 mins so that wasn't bad at all. I ordered the chicken and rib sandwich with 3 bones and 2 pieces of chicken. The chicken looked like they found the smallest chicken on the yard and he had a deformity. It looked like a half of a thigh with a broken leg. (Seriously). The ribs were likewise and the color of the meat looked overcooked and dry. Surprisingly, however, when I tasted the food it was very flavorful and the meat was tender. My wife ordered the 5 bone rib sandwich and needless to say she was disappointed as well. The taste saved them but I will have to loosely give them a 1.5 out of a 5. This may have been a bad day for them but first impressions are crucial. I had the pulled pork on a bun meal deal which included thick slices of perfectly smoked pork that was melt in your mouth tender with delicious crispy edges on a soft brioche bun. A duo of sauces were drizzled over the meat- one a tangy mustard based sauce and the other a slightly sweet red sauce with just enough heat. A perfect combination! The deal comes with a side and a drink. I chose the baked beans which were tender and swimming in a delicious lightly sweet sauce with chunks of the same delicious pork as was piled on my sandwich. The food was exceptional, the staff super friendly, and the vibe was on point with a great playlist and spotless interior. After going to the Jacksonville Arts Market we decided to try Holy Smokes BBQ in the nearby 5 Points neighborhood. I am so glad we did! I had the chicken and ribs dinner and my wife had the rib tips dinner. This is great BBQ - meat well smoked and moist and the sauce was perfect. Saw the Hit on the news today about this new store, decided to visit for lunch today. Portions are small for what you pay, had two chicken yard birds with sides. Flavor is good, portions are Small. baked beans need some work maybe some meat and Mac n cheese was hard. The chicken size was more like Cornish hen than Chicken.
