Lola's Secret Garden

Carried out a shrimp quesadilla this past weekend. Same great taste, same huge size. This Saturday they were crowded. My quesadilla said it was going to be ready at 1:15 when I ordered it online. That's when I arrived and checked in at the bar. I had to wait about 20 minutes beyond that. The chef came out from the back and had all takeout orders at once. I get that they were crowded. I would have shown up later. I was parked pretty far away with people waiting in the car. I'll be back to Lola's I go often. Constructively, they just need to be more accurate with the pick-up time.

Ordered one item on the way home at 1:37pm and still waiting on the restaurant. Service is not good, says on link that the shrimp quesadilla has been ready for 15 minutes but they are telling us it's not ready. It's 2pm on a Saturday, should not be this hard to pickup a single carryout item. It's now almost 2:15. Super disappointing for a restaurant we frequent often in our neighborhood.

Chips with queso, chicken tacos

Popped in here a little later in the day to watch the first half of the Jaguars game, got a Diet Coke and some chips and queso. The chips and queso were so good I got a few chicken tacos as well! Really quality food, exactly what you want watching a game. The server was excellent and the inside was comfortable. I continue to be impressed by my trip to Jacksonville!

I'm not sure what to say about these tacos I just ordered to go... they are stone cold and look extremely unappetizing and unappealing I've never had a restaurant serve them this way

We came on taco Tuesday. Locals raved about this place, and it was packed. The beef tacos and chips & original salsa were just meh. Maybe there's other food in the menu that's better? The bartender was nice. They also have a lot of unique hot sauces you can try.

My friend and I were looking for a good lunchtime deal and decided to go here since they have an all day happy hour on Wednesday. When we got there, there was only one other group of people, so it was pretty quiet. I had 2 different margaritas and would have loved to have tried more, but I was just too full lol I had the Chupa-Me-Chupa and the Berry Berry Good, but personally I liked the Berry Berry Good one more. We shared chips and dip, and for my entree I ordered the steak fajitas bowl. I thought it was good! Our server was Olga and she was very patient as we navigated the menu and our drink/food choices. I'd definitely come back!

We came here for lunch with the family after a recommendation. We ordered spicy bloody Mary's, the waitress said they were VERY spicy so she made them milder for us, which were fine. Then I ordered the key lime margarita, which was VERY good. For food, I ordered the Winner Winner Chicken Burrito. It wasn't my favorite. The black beans overpowered the entire flavor of the burrito. There was a lot of rice and bean filler. He ordered the Surf and Turf burrito without beans, and it was actually pretty good, still a lot of extra filler but he could taste the flavor. My teen ordered the Burro Burger, he said they had a lot of BBQ sauce on it, caramelized onions and mushrooms. He requested it medium but it was closer to well done, overall he said it was like a regular burger. The kids ordered burger sliders, grilled cheese and Mac n cheese to which they were all satisfied. The Mac n cheese wasn't gourmet or anything fancy. It was box, with shredded cheese on top which is perfect, because that's exactly what kids want. It was a Sunday after church, the place had 3 tables filled and a few people at the bar. The waitress wasn't that attentive but she was nice. Prices were on the high side considering the place looked like a dive bar and the food was just alright. But they did offer a military discount upon request so that was American.

First time trying the empanadas here and they were great. The curry chicken was better than the Latin beef. Definitely recommend the beans and rice too. Service was good. Waitress circled back numerous times to check on us. My only complaint was the Coconut Mojito was not an authentic mojito. Mint was not muddled and it just tasted like coconut rum and sprite. Other than that Lola's was great.

Good, not great. They had a variety of margarita choices and you can even make it a double! Having eaten lots of Mexican food, I can say this was not the best but not the worst. They have happy hour specials which is great. The bartender was super friendly and there's plenty of seating both tables and at the bar.

My first time here today was a nice one. Olga was my server and she did a great job checking on me and my company. The food here was pretty good. I had the Korean bbq chicken wings and the taco salad with chicken and shrimp. Ambiance was relaxed with good music. Please check them out when you get a chance.

Love me some Lola's. I'm not much of a burrito guy, so I go for their Buńuelos (jalapeño and latin cheese fritters) as a starter. Hot, gooey and delicious dipped in either lime aioli or jalapeño ranch. The main event for me is either the lemon pepper or jalapeño ranch wing. They're some of the best in town! Always great service, too. Cool, funky vibes ...go check them out.

Fish Taco.

On a recent venture to Jacksonville's Riverside, I found myself at the amazing Lola's. I highly encourage you to do the same. :) The down side was that I was traveling alone, so I could only taste what I could stomach, and not everything on the menu. Sesame Ginger Tofu ginger taco was flavorful, yet light. A great blend of tofu, tomato es, cabbage, and cheese. Trace amounts of spicy, but loads of flavor. The Fish Taco was well blended. That chipotle tartar sauce pulls together the fish, tomatoes, cabbage leaves, cheese, and cilantro. This is NOT your "average" fish taco, so prepare to be overwhelmed. In a good way. The Spicy Shrimp taco was packed with shrimp, which were perfectly cooked. Firm and flavorful. Paired exceptionally with tomatoes, cheese, cabbage, and a Mojo Lime Aioli.

We walked in and was immediately greeted and sat down. The server was very patient as we tried to determine what we were ordering. The food was absolutely delicious and the servers were wonderful!

My 3 tacos: Duck, Carnitas, and Steak. Duck was overpriced.

The server was really friendly and recommended some great options for us. We ordered the following: 1) THE QUEEN - classic Venezuelan "chicken salad" with their home-made avocado mayo, cilantro and sliced avocados (also known as the Reina Pepiada). Fresh with a great balance of umami flavors! The cilantro green sauce was an amazing add-on with a little spicy kick! 2) PORKO LOCO - slow cooked pork marinated in red wine with queso blanco. Tender, moist, and very flavorful. Amazing! 3) CACHAPA - soft crispy pancake made with sweet corn and fried cheese in the middle. Flavor bomb of sweet and savory! 4) EMPANADA (BEEF) - tender, shredded beef with great flavor of savory. The dipping sauce was white, tangy, vinegary, creamy with a slight spiciness. Delicious! 5) SOURSOP JUICE - rare to find restaurants with this drink. Ate the actual fruits in my homeland in SE Asia. The juice was milky/creamy, sweet with an earthy taste. Great health benefits eating or drinking soursop -- antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, etc. Other notable item was the Passion Fruit Juice however, I did not try it. My bestie really liked it. I would recommend additional seasoning for the seafood & a lemon to squeeze over it and wake up the flavor.

We got off the trolley at Stop 20, National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche, and were going to walk to the restaurant. Unbeknownst to us, there was no crosswalk to cross the busy Ponce de Leon boulevard. Mom isn't as spry as she once was so we didn't risk crossing without a crosswalk, so we had to walk another 1/4 or so to the nearest crosswalk then doubled back to the restaurant. Located in the The Ponce St. Augustine hotel, the restaurant is just to the left of the main doors. We had to wait a bit to get seated as the lone server had to clean a table first. Service was slow. I ordered the Bistec a Caballo (medium), my wife tried their Pork de Leon with fries and my mom opted for the Inca bowl. Did I say service was slow? Our orders weren't synched up. My order and my wife's sandwich were served first and we had to wait a few minutes before my mom's dish was served. My wife liked her sandwich and fries although she thought the shredded pork was a bit dry. My mom liked the flavors of her dish, with tender cuts of meat and smoky soy sauce flavor. The Bistec a Caballo had decent flavors BUT that steak was tough, even ordered medium. I felt like I was cutting through shoe leather cutting it with the serrated knife. Slow service and a tough steak bumped our rating down. We just couldn't overlook the quality and/or preparation of my steak, even with good flavors. Lunch for 3 came out to just over $67 with tip. We've tried several dishes and sandwiches but still can't understand the extreme hype. I was told the Chorizo was spicy and it was so bland I felt like I was eating Hilshire Farms kielbasa. Pros: * Outdoor Dining - Pleasant outdoor dining area that provides a comfortable place to relax * Service - Consistently friendly service and a casual neighborhood feel * Variety - Menu crafted by highly regarded chef‑owners with strong culinary credentials * Location - Murray Hill location for a laid‑back meal or meet‑up * The best dish on the menu has been the pork sandwich - which is half a sub roll and plantain chips Cons: * Pricing - Pricing feels high for the portion sizes (e.g., three chicken legs at $23) * Expectations - Overall experience does not fully align with the restaurant's reputation * Some dishes feel more modest than expected given the cost Chancho King is a great place to unwind in the neighborhood, but the pricing-to-portion balance left me wanting more.
