    Brisket sandwich

Amid all of the COVID-19 chaos, confusion, concern and fear that is currently within our community, it was refreshing to see people out and supporting our local small business owners. The food truck came to our neighborhood tonight and we were relieved to have something we didn't cook. To start, the menu was limited to items that can be prepared quickly, this ensured we adhered to social distancing and line's didn't start to form. The food we ordered was ready promptly and was hot and fresh! The person taking our order was very pleasant and helpful to make our ordering quick and easy. I ordered the brisket tacos. They were perfect! And the sauce they had with it on the side was SOOO good. I wish I have more. I literally dunked my taco in it every bite! I had fried okra on the side. It'd been years since I had fried okra so I was very excited that it was even an option! It was good but the breading was a little heavy and not seasoned as well as I'd hoped. I will try a different side next time. My daughter, who isn't a big meat eater, but LOVES baked potatoes settled on the loaded baked potato with brisket. She DEVOURED it. That thing didn't stand a chance. I think she has now been converted and this won't be the last time she will eat brisket. My husband got the brisket sandwich. He moaned with pleasure at every bite. Safe to say he enjoyed it. He even picked at everyone else's plate of food when he was done. He just couldn't get enough! All in all it was a great dining experience and would recommend and definitely go again! Thank you for coming out Okie!

The food is so good at this food truck! I always get the brisket and blue cheese tacos with corn nuggets. You cannot go wrong!

I have tried this food truck a couple of times and each time I just remember thinking that they must have it together in that kitchen because the line moves so quick. The food I've had is always top notch. The tacos are a true winner. I have tried the award winning barbecue brisket tacos and the regular brisket tacos and they are both are great. The spare ribs are next on my list if I can have tacos too. :)

Twisted Okie was one of many food trucks that came to my school, and it definitely looked the best of the bunch and it really was good! Tender and juicy meat!

New year, new truck, less food and just warm at that. The fact that I barely was able to take a picture of the menu board after ordering should have been clue number one. (Pro tip, if you go to this truck ask for fresh fries, not sure if they will make them fresh, but it's better than the alternative). So I've been to this truck before (maybe three times or so last year) and kept going back because everything was always hot and and the portions were great. But today... just wasn't good. Food wasn't hot. And the portion of pork was laughable. I've gotten more real meat out a McDonald's happy meal. Not sure if there's a new truck new attitude going on but for $8 I expect hot food and a serving of protein. I went back in like January and it had not changed. 3 Stars for past experiences being good, but after this time not sure if it's gettin added back into my rotation.

Twisted Okie is a food truck that sometimes comes near my office. One day I decided to venture over and decided to try their twisted fries with brisket. The brisket itself wasn't bad but I was disappointed by the bbq sauce. First, they put so much on that it was all I could taste, second, they use a store bought sauce which I personally feel is too tangy. I would try it again but would go without the bbq'd sauce so I can taste the meat. They do accept debit and credit cards which is useful for someone like me who seldom carries cash. The service was fine and the gentlemen who took my order was nice enough.

I guess this is what's available?

I've order from this food truck twice. First time about 3-4 years ago then yesterday. I did not get the wow factor when I ate here the first time, but I just forgot to leave a review. They were parked somewhat near my office yesterday, so I took the walk and order the ¼ ribs with a side of corn nuggets. I thought the sweet BBQ was good, corn nuggets were okay, and ribs were meh. I might come back and give them another shot one day but I wouldn't recommend.

I'm a 5'4, average weight Asian girl but don't let that fool you. I can eat for days. With that being said, I wish I was wealthy enough to pay the Twisted Oakie to follow me around. I'd have a bell and a piece of hog heaven would be thrown directly at my mouth when I ring it. But, I don't live in that blissful world so I'll settle for the 50 steps I have to trek every Friday to his food truck. I'm a simple woman, folks. I get the same thing every time. Because if it ain't broke, why fix it? I always get the 2 ribs with a side. Gold sauce on the side with plenty of napkins. Being true to his roots and southern hospitality, Kevin would always throw an extra rib in there. You are a God, sir. We don't deserve you! This is a family affair. I believe his wife and kids are also in on the business of feeding people. I would always see their smiling faces when I get my food. Can ya'll adopt me? I mean, I'll eat all the left overs. Please be around for a long time. I adore all of you. Yeeehhaawww!!!!

It's hard to miss this enormous Food trailer and you'll be glad you didn't. They're known for their brisket and ribs which I have had both and both are fantastic. What did it for me today tho was their pork tacos. The pork is so tender and juicy, on flour tortillas, dressed Tex-mex style. Absolutely delicious! The service was friendly and speedy and the output is always quality. Hunt these guys down for your next bbq or taco fix.

It's always a plus when the service matches the quality of the food, and he definitely made the experience even better. The brisket sandwich was excellent, full of flavor with that perfect smoky taste and really tender meat. You can tell it's done right. The pulled pork sandwich was just as impressive, juicy and packed with flavor in every bite. Both sandwiches were filling and hit the spot. The mac and cheese was great as well, creamy and rich and paired perfectly with the BBQ. It's one of those sides you don't think much about at first but end up finishing completely. Overall this place delivers on both food and service. Definitely a spot worth checking out if you're in Jacksonville and want some legit BBQ.

I enjoyed the food; however, I think some details were missing or off for the price point. For example, the rib eye was requested for medium temp; however, it was medium rare and very chewy. The broiled ocean platter was kind of skimpy for the price point, and the shrimp & lobster diavolo were pretty good (though lobster wasn't very tender and slightly rubbery). I also wasn't given a pasta spoon- so had slight difficulty eating it. It took quite a while for us to get our food, approx 45 minutes? Our waitress was very kind and checked in- but forgot the lemons I had asked for- for the waters. We had inputted in our reservation request to not be in the center- and we were sat in the middle; though, 80% of the tables were empty. So, all in all, it was good but for the price point, I had higher expectations.

The rooftop bar is definitely the highlight, offering great views of the river and downtown skyline, especially around sunset. It creates a relaxing vibe that works well for date nights, drinks with friends, or special occasions. The food overall was good, with a menu that offers a nice mix of seafood, steaks, and Southern-inspired dishes. Some items were excellent and well-prepared, while others felt a little pricey for the portion size. The cocktails were creative and well-made, though drinks can add up quickly. Service was friendly and professional, but during busy hours things moved a bit slower than expected. Parking can also be limited depending on the time of day, so arriving early helps. Overall, River & Post delivers more on atmosphere and experience than just the food alone. While it may not be the cheapest dining option in Jacksonville, the rooftop views and overall ambiance make it worth checking out at least once.

Our visit to Biscottis in Jacksonville's Avondale neighborhood managed to do both. We were greeted warmly when we arrived and seated immediately, and the atmosphere had a welcoming energy that made the restaurant feel like a true neighborhood gathering place. Susan ordered the Quiche Lorraine, and after the first bite we both knew it was something special. The crust was delicate and buttery while the filling was rich and perfectly balanced. It was so impressive that we awarded it our Culinary Duo Best of the Best dish recognition, which is something we reserve for truly standout dishes. Peter went in a different direction and ordered the Sweet Potato Pancakes with house made white cheddar hash browns. The pancakes were flavorful and comforting, and the hash browns were crispy with bold cheddar flavor that made them impossible to stop eating. Another thing we appreciated was learning that Biscottis carries the Slow Food First Coast Snail of Approval, recognizing restaurants that support sustainable agriculture and local food traditions. The service throughout the visit was cheerful and attentive, and the staff seemed genuinely happy to be there. If you enjoy restaurants that combine great brunch dishes, incredible desserts, and a lively neighborhood atmosphere, Biscottis is definitely worth visiting.
