Finally made it in as we decided to dine in before a Jumbo Shrimp game. I ordered the two meat plate with fatty brisket and ribs. For my sides I went with the charro beans and sautéed cabbage. Everything was really good and portions were ample for the price. I ended up taking a rib home along with some brisket - I brought a cooler since we were going to the game - not my first rodeo. My table mates were not too enamored with their sides - for one the coleslaw didn't look fresh and the fries were also served not very fresh. Sauces were ok. Dining area is small and for the most part a little "picnicky." Not horrible but not a lot of effort into the dining room. I would return for the food but probably more of a to go place for me.
Today while driving Mr. Fun With Trish around for work, we landed on one of the properties he maintains that also is home to one of our favorite BBQ places in Jax, Yellow Rose BBQ. So when he looked at me and asked "Wanna go to Yellow Rose? I want a Rosebud!", it's automatic yes from me! I went with the Taco Plate and chose the smoked brisket as my protein. It came with two sides and typically, I go with the charro beans (literally my favorite beans in Jacksonville!) and mac and cheese, but decided to go with their two seasonal sides today, smoked corn and fresh green beans. The tacos were absolutely banging and overflowing with flavor. The corn was sweet, buttery, and loaded with delicious smoke flavor. The green beans, also loaded with savory and smokey flavor that I just loved! Green beans are probably my favorite vegetable and its not often i meet a green bean dish I don't like. Hubby got his Rosebud, which is a brisket stuffed jalapeño wrapped in bacon. He's obsessed with these! He mentions the Rosebud at least once a week to me. He paired it with one of their Crispy Quesa Tacos and of course he was finished with both of his items before I finished both of my tacos. We're big fans of Yellow Rose and it's probably a good thing they're not close to us, but if he gets a maintenance call for the shopping center he's in, he's probably walking in there and grabbing a Rosebud... with or without me.
If this is Texas bbq I wouldn't go to Texas. Brisket was either day old or over cooked or both. Brisket and sausage was barely warm. French fries was the best part of meal. Service was good waitress was friendly and checked on us even though you order at desk. Ambiance restaurant is small crowded and slightly dirty.
The best dining decision I made this week, maybe all month, was taking the advice of dozens of fellow foodies and finding my way to the highly acclaimed Yellow Rose BBQ. I knew this was going to be special when those beautifully smoky scents hit the nose as I approached from the parking lot. Like a cartoon, I was carried along towards my destination, almost floating right through the door. And there to greet me was the absolutely wonderful Megan, who embodied the nature of true Southern hospitality - made me feel right at home! She gave some outstanding advice as to what to order, and definitely didn't disappoint as the photos will show. Echoing the cheerful Texas-themed decor were the sunny personalities of the front of house staff, Morgan and Brian, who stopped for a few moments to chat - knowledgeable, friendly, and enthusiastic about the establishment while humbled by the (deserved) rave reviews they've received. And then, there was the FOOD! And what a feast it was!! Jake and Diaz were making magic in that kitchen, delivering a killer Rosebud (MASSIVE bacon-wrapped jalepeno stuffed with house smoked brisket) along with generous cuts of their beautiful brisket and pork ribs along with sauces that pair perfectly without taking away from that gorgeous, smoky meat. The Mac and cheese and savory charro beans were fantastic compliments to the meal, but their street corn was next level craveable awesomeness incarnate! Owner/Pitmaster Andrew Zelade and Anthony Hashem have proven that Texas BBQ can and does exist outside of the Lone Star state with this gift to Northeast Florida. This is the one to run to, savor, and tell your friends about...this is the beginning of a new chapter in the evolution of pit master art, nestled into a humble, unassuming location on San Jose Blvd. Can't wait to watch this Lone Star rise!!
Finally made it to Yellow Rose and it was for sure worth the wait. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon around lunch and it was pretty crowded but we did expect that. There is inside and outside seating so there is more room then it looks. We went to the counter checked up the menu and ordered. I was our first time so we had to try a little bit of everything of course. We went with the Hill Country Trinity which comes with Brisket, Pork Ribs, Sausage , and 3 sides, a Rosebud, and a Crispy Quesa Taco with Brisket since unfortunately they were out of Birria. For the Hill Country Trinity we went with our Brisket moist, Cheddar Jalapeno Sausage, and for our side, Mac & Cheese, Elote Pasta Salad, and the Homemade Cornbread which was a special side that day. All I have to say is all the meat was fantastic. Best BBQ I have had in Jacksonville in a very long time. The Pork Ribs were tender with amazing seasoning and bark. The meat just feel off the bone. The Brisket was flavorful, fatty and melted in my mouth just the way of like it. You also get a whole sausage which had plenty of cheese in it. I also love both the Crispy Quesa Taco and the Rosebud. I was not expecting them to be as good as they were. I could have eaten another 2 or 3 of each. You for sure had to make sure to added both of them on to your meal with you come. The Rosebud was creamy and juicy but if you just bite into it you will get messy. The Crispy Quesa Taco also is really taken to the next level by the Salsa Verde in it. Gives it just the kick it needed. My favorite side by far was the Homemade Cornbread which was some of the best I had ever had. They gotta add this to the menu always. The Mac & Cheese was the only let down of the food we order. It was bad but just needed to be seasoned move. Even salt and pepper would do the trick. We for sure will be back to Yellow Rose since it's by for the best BBQ close to us.
Wow, this is some great BBQ, that's my first thought! I had heard good things and the stars finally aligned to let me try Yellow Rose! We stopped in on a Friday night about 8pm and they were packed, good sign! For 2 adults and 2 kids we got the Pittmaster Platter which you get to try almost everything! All the meats and 3 sides. This thing was huge, we all ate and still left with a full Togo box. Everything tasted great, like meats were all on point! Pulled pork was tasty not dry or filled with fatty pieces, ribs were tender and fully coated with seasoning as was the brisket, also the brisket was very lean as I asked for. Turkey was moist and soft, oh my gosh the tacos, amazing! We asked for them filled with brisket, heavenly! Crunchy, cheesy and packed with brisket! Lastly the Rosebuds, we got 2 @ $5 each, these things were massive and delish! Jalapeño stuffed with cream cheese, brisket(?) then wrapped with bacon and smoked I believe!? Wow they were yummy! I'll heat them up in the air fryer to finish them off! Place is small and they run out of stuff, the night we came in they had run out of sausage. I'll have to come back to try it!
Super excited about this new BBQ spot in Mandarin -- my husband and I had been hearing good things and finally had a chance to check it out. We ordered takeout and were really happy with what we got! The portions were pretty large so it made it worth the price -- we had so many leftovers that it ended up being 4 servings of food for us. I had the pulled pork, brisket taco, charro beans & green beans. Hubby got brisket, pulled pork, fries and charro beans. Takeout was super fast and I didn't feel like we waited very long, which is always appreciated. The space itself is pretty small, but it serves its purpose just fine, I'd say. We will definitely be coming back to try more -- I'm thinking about the elote on the menu and any of the other specials!
Originally saw this place online before coming down to Florida and I accidentally stumbled upon it again when I got down here. Very good barbecue, reminds me very close of what we used to get down in Texas . The brisket, mac & cheese, cornbread, And turkey were stars of the show. Their sausage is local and I've had it at other barbecue spots nearby (it's very good). Was sad to see that they didn't have homemade sausage. Will have to come back again for the beef ribs that are only sold on the weekends
As soon as you walk in, it's so welcoming! Great music and decor and great customer service!!! However, my rating is on the food. Such a let down. My favorite part was the coleslaw... The cornbread was bone dry, it looks like it would be good, the honey on top is nice. But it was so dry. My husband says the green beans we
I ordered 1/2 brisket moist. As you can see it was one thick cold dry piece. I was very disappointed drive 45 minutes based on reviews. Zero care given to carving flavor mild
I had heard about this BBQ place so much and finally got the opportunity to stop in and try it for myself! Mike and I split the bill country trinity platter with ribs, brisket, jalapeño cheddar sausage and sides of mac and cheese, elote pasta salad and cornbread. It was massive and so filling. I loved the brisket, the jalapeño cheese sausage and the cornbread! The only small disappointment was the mac and cheese and it's not that it wasn't good it was just not BBQ restaurant good in my opinion but I would give it another shot. This is a restaurant for getting in, enjoying your food and leaving to go nap afterwards.
As a long time residence of Austin, Texas, I'm sad that this isn't better than it is. I was really expecting some Texas brisket. I couldn't really stand any of the sides at all. I took two bites of the cole slaw and threw it away. The brisket was absolutely OK. I will try this BBQ place again, but I don't have too high of hopes. All the staff were kind and professional, and the place was clean.
We stopped by Yellow Rose BBQ's food stall at the Riverside Arts Market, and it was one of the highlights of our visit. The brisket was incredibly tender, smoky, and packed with flavor and honestly some of the best we've had, even compared to BBQ spots we've tried around the country. The coleslaw was fresh and refreshing, providing the perfect balance to the rich, smoky meat. Simple, delicious, and clearly made with care. Our bellies left very happy, and we'll definitely be back for more! read more
Family went here for a birthday. We saw it on Tik Tok and wanted to check it out. Pros: Very friendly staff, outdoor seating, quick service and really good bbq. Cons: small and cramped dining area, ran out of numerous items on the menu Definitely recommend and definitely will be back. Brisket and ribs were so tender. Staff recommended the charro beans and I'm happy they did. Really good sweet tea as well. Go check em out! read more
Best brisket in Jacksonville. I have been to Austin, Nashville, Kansas City and North Carolina. I can confidently say this is some great brisket. The meat is juicy, tender and so flavorful. Not too salty and 50% lean and 50% fat is a nice combination that melts in your mouth like butter. Everytime I go to their mandarin location they were always sold out of the brisket. I was lucky enough to stumble upon their stall at the Riverside Arts Market and try it for the first time. 1lb of brisket and Cole slaw later, I can say this is worth every single penny! I will be back for more! Thank you for bringing this to Jacksonville where great bbq is truly needed! read more

Wowza, they really know ribs at tge Yellow Rose. No sauce needed, just fall off the bone good Service - had a pick up order, but the service on the phone and in person with stellar. Atmosphere - there were boxes stacked, and some parts clearly weren't being used, but the dining room was clean, and the noise level was low, but I have to admit my clean OCD was perturbed. My son and I have been trying to go by here for a couple of months, but his schedule only allows us to go to lunch on Mondays in the Yellow Rose is closed on Mondays, so we just weren't making a connection. Fast-forward to tonight and he came in tired from work, the rest of the family was out of town, so I took advantage and got us two platters, sides, and tacos to try.. As I said above, Service was stellar both in person and on the phone and the host is definitely steered me right on what items to get and what I am looking for popular. When I went to pick up the food, I was a little annoyed because the person in front of me was taking so long, but then I remembered they took about that long with me on the phone so I have nothing to complain about. Yellow Rose know something about Service that's for sure. You wanna know what else food more specifically Texas barbecue : Original sauce- my favorite, rich flavor and not too sweet. Mustard sauce - another good one, but not as good as the original. Charro beans - wowza, these were good. Cabbage - I do t like cabbage, but this was a good choice. Elote Macaroni - this fell flat for me, but my son LOVED it. Brisket - hardy, meaty taste, nice crust on the outside. Ribs -seriously, WTH? These were fantastic, they don't need sauce, the rub they put on is delicious. There is a limited menu, but they have a wall of butcher paint with specials and a board on the counter stating what they are out of. I would like to dine in next time and try some of the specials, sone of them looked great. Really worth a try, just don't go on Mondays. read more
First, I have to commend the young lady who was at the front who took our order. I truly wished I got her name or that she was wearing a name tag because I would love to recognize her for the outstanding customer centered service she delivered. With a pleasant smile, she answered all of our questions and made recommendations which were spot on! She truly represents yellow rose barbecue in an excellent fashion. Now to the food, where do I begin? My friend had the brisket taco which she said was great! I thought it was going to be the crunchy shell, but it turned out. It was not and I so wished I had gotten that cause it looked phenomenal! I had the lean brisket with the macaroni street corn and macaroni salad on the side. Both of the macaroni side dishes were outstanding and they give you large portions, which I really appreciated. The brisket had excellent flavor (the mustard sauce was great, but the original was phenomenal.). The only suggestion I can make here is be a little more generous with the brisket as they gave you a very, very small amount for the money. I love the orange thing they have going on in the tiles and in the bathrooms having the soap dispenser and towel dispenser in orange matching the trim. Overall, the friendliness of everybody, the cleanliness and the food this is a must go to establishment! Just remember the brisket portions are on the small side. read more
I came in to get some BBQ to go for my shift the next day. Cool restaurant with super friendly staff. The food was great! I got the Holy Trinity with slaw, cucumber salad and the cooked cabbage. The ribs were the star meat! Some of the best ever! Sausage was good. Brisket was tender but just ok. The regular sauce was very unique and good! The slaw and cucumber salad good. But the cabbage was phenomenal! I want to try other BBQ joints. But I would come back here! read more
Place was absolutely packed at 4:30 on a Saturday. Unfortunately many sides and pulled pork and brisket were already sold out. I had the chicken bacon ranch quesadillas which was fantastic. Very flavorful! Chris had a turkey sandwich. It was ok. A lot of turkey but no frills otherwise. As I said the restaurant was packed so much so that we were stuck in our seats for a bit. We couldn't leave without having people at other tables get up and move chairs to let us through. It was a maze making our way to the garbage . I think this will be a take out place for us earlier in the day so everything is available to order read more

Nice place to dine, relax and enjoy BBQ! The sweet young lady took great care of me today. I dined in today. I got a bbq pork sandwich, two sides and water. They're only about half mile from my work location. I got the last parking spot today. The food was Devine. I got the beans with meat, pasta salad and the sandwich. It was delicious. She also gave me a to go box, since I could not eat all of it. The cucumber salad is for a co worker. It looked good. I will try that next time as a side. Pros: great customer service, delicious bbq and sides. Good location. Cons: out of their control:tight parking. There are multiple restaurants right there. Recommend? Hell to the YES! read more
Ordered the Hill County Trinity. Brisket, ribs & sausage with 3 sides, for which I chose mac & cheese, charro beans and coleslaw. I have found my new favorite bbq in town. The brisket and ribs were so tender and the rubs they use have great flavor without being overpowering. The mac & cheese is not my style but still tasted good. I just had to think of it as creamy noodles. The charro beans were very flavorful and I loved the cole slaw. It is not sweet. Parking here is not always a fun time but that is not their fault. One thing I'd like to see is more sauce bottles and salt & pepper. I only saw one of each bottle of sauce, which were not labeled, and no salt or pepper. Will definitely be returning. read more

Fellow Yelper Sara B. & I were excited to check out the Yellow Rose BBQ soft opening for lunch. I am never going to complain about having another BBQ spot to enjoy. We sat inside & enjoyed the 90's country tunes but they also have a cute side patio area. I went with the BBQ plate that comes with two sides. I had to go with the brisket (asked for a mix of moist & lean) & chose elote mac salad and charro beans as my sides. The brisket was great & so tender. It didn't need any sauce but I do like to have some on the side to dip into. They have a sweet sauce & a mustard sauce. Both were good but I really liked the mustard sauce. The sides were a hit too. The elote mac salad had great flavors and I loved that the beans came with big chunks of sausage. I'm looking forward to trying their tacos next visit! read more

Saw this restaurant on TikTok and the food looked good. Decided to treat my niece and myself to tacos. I ordered 4 birria tacos, 5 BBQ wings, and two orders of fries. It took about 15 minutes before we got our food. It was not brought out all at the same time. We got the tacos first and waited another 5-7 minutes before we got the wings and fries. The tacos were greasy and had a lot of fat. The wings were salty. We did like the fries. When we arrived there were a few people before us and it seemed like after we ordered they got really busy. I think they needed more people to help out with orders and keeping the condiments stand filled. We were greeted when we arrived and handed a menu to look over while waiting to order. The place is really cramped on the inside. They do have patio seating. I spent $53. Overall I'd give them 2.5 out of 5. The food didn't make me want to return. read more

Staff were so nice and enthusiastic. The BBQ was good, brisket def better than the turkey. I would like to go back and try a different meat. The Mac n cheese was sooooo yummy. Cabbage was lacking a bit of flavor and the green beans were so so. Everything had a slight hint of spicy, so be mindful of that. The corn bread was great w the baked beans but not great on its own. Def a nice casual lunch spot and I'd go back. read more

This was some of the BEST BBQ I've had since living in Florida. The food portions was perfect, the seasoning was phenomenal, and the fatty brisket was exactly what I've been missing. We will be back and back OFTEN. Also the banana pudding, don't skip it. read more
If you've been craving Texas style barbecue in Mandarin, Yellow Rose BBQ might just be the spot to check out. I'm no expert on Texas barbecue, but after hearing from others that it was "pretty close," I had to see for myself. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The barbecue here is definitely slow-cooked and seasoned with a dry rub. Peppery with just the right balance of spice, without being overly salty. It's a straightforward, no frills kind of flavor that lets the meat shine. We ordered the Bevo Platter, which is supposed to feed 4-6 people. There were five of us, and honestly, it was the perfect amount of food for all of us. For $74, we got a variety of meats: pulled pork, brisket, ribs, sausage, and two large sides. We went with mac & cheese (creamy and comforting) and charro beans (a flavorful, hearty choice). We added crinkle cut fries and the elote pasta salad, which was a unique twist on traditional elote. Worth trying, especially as it paired well with the richness of the meats. The standout for me was definitely the brisket. It was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, and I could see why it's such a fan favorite. We also sampled their crispy birria tacos, which were deliciously savory, and the Rosebud, a huge jalapeño wrapped in bacon and stuffed with brisket and cream cheese. It had a nice kick, and I loved the smokiness of the bacon. For dessert, we had hoped to try the banana pudding, but they were out, so we went with churros and chocolate dipping sauce instead. No complaints there. It was a sweet and satisfying end to the meal. My nephew loved it! The restaurant itself is on the smaller side. There are a few tables inside, they also have an outdoor seating area. The tight indoor space can get a little cramped, especially around the condiment station/beverage station. The service was friendly, though nothing too remarkable. You order and pay upfront. They do offer a military discount, but it's only for those in uniform, which is worth noting if that applies to you. As for the price, it feels a bit on the high side to me. I'd probably opt for takeout next time, simply because I can't imagine waiting for a table with the mouthwatering smell of barbecue filling the air. Plus the food is so filling you'll want to be home to take a nap right after! read more

Found this place in a little strip mall and it did not disappoint. Get there early to beat the crowd - we walked in at 6 and by 630 it was slammed. Got the plate with two meats (brisket and pulled pork) with mac and cheese and the mexican corn (not the pasta salad - it was an upgrade). Did not disappoint. Also tried someone's cabbage and it was fantastic - very flavorful and cooked enough to be tasty but still had bite. Shared a brisket taco and man was it good - crispy, gooey and flavorful. read more
