Today while driving Mr. Fun With Trish around for work, we landed on one of the properties he maintains that also is home to one of our favorite BBQ places in Jax, Yellow Rose BBQ. So when he looked at me and asked "Wanna go to Yellow Rose? I want a Rosebud!", it's automatic yes from me! I went with the Taco Plate and chose the smoked brisket as my protein. It came with two sides and typically, I go with the charro beans (literally my favorite beans in Jacksonville!) and mac and cheese, but decided to go with their two seasonal sides today, smoked corn and fresh green beans. The tacos were absolutely banging and overflowing with flavor. The corn was sweet, buttery, and loaded with delicious smoke flavor. The green beans, also loaded with savory and smokey flavor that I just loved! Green beans are probably my favorite vegetable and its not often i meet a green bean dish I don't like. Hubby got his Rosebud, which is a brisket stuffed jalapeño wrapped in bacon. He's obsessed with these! He mentions the Rosebud at least once a week to me. He paired it with one of their Crispy Quesa Tacos and of course he was finished with both of his items before I finished both of my tacos. We're big fans of Yellow Rose and it's probably a good thing they're not close to us, but if he gets a maintenance call for the shopping center he's in, he's probably walking in there and grabbing a Rosebud... with or without me. read more

Finally made it in as we decided to dine in before a Jumbo Shrimp game. I ordered the two meat plate with fatty brisket and ribs. For my sides I went with the charro beans and sautéed cabbage. Everything was really good and portions were ample for the price. I ended up taking a rib home along with some brisket - I brought a cooler since we were going to the game - not my first rodeo. My table mates were not too enamored with their sides - for one the coleslaw didn't look fresh and the fries were also served not very fresh. Sauces were ok. Dining area is small and for the most part a little "picnicky." Not horrible but not a lot of effort into the dining room. The coleslaw looked like it was leftover from the day before as the cabbage was a little off in color and wilted. The fries were overdone but served lukewarm. The best dining decision I made this week, maybe all month, was taking the advice of dozens of fellow foodies and finding my way to the highly acclaimed Yellow Rose BBQ. I knew this was going to be special when those beautifully smoky scents hit the nose as I approached from the parking lot. Wow, this is some great BBQ, that's my first thought! I had heard good things and the stars finally aligned to let me try Yellow Rose! We stopped in on a Friday night about 8pm and they were packed, good sign! For 2 adults and 2 kids we got the Pittmaster Platter which you get to try almost everything! All the meats and 3 sides. This thing was huge, we all ate and still left with a full Togo box. Everything tasted great, like meats were all on point! Pulled pork was tasty not dry or filled with fatty pieces, ribs were tender and fully coated with seasoning as was the brisket, also the brisket was very lean as I asked for. Turkey was moist and soft, oh my gosh the tacos, amazing! We asked for them filled with brisket, heavenly! Crunchy, cheesy and packed with brisket! Lastly the Rosebuds, we got 2 @ $5 each, these things were massive and delish! Jalapeño stuffed with cream cheese, brisket(?) then wrapped with bacon and smoked I believe!? Wow they were yummy! Originally saw this place online before coming down to Florida and I accidentally stumbled upon it again when I got down here. Very good barbecue, reminds me very close of what we used to get down in Texas . The brisket, mac & cheese, cornbread, And turkey were stars of the show. Their sausage is local and I've had it at other barbecue spots nearby (it's very good). Was sad to see that they didn't have homemade sausage. Finally made it to Yellow Rose and it was for sure worth the wait. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon around lunch and it was pretty crowded but we did expect that. There is inside and outside seating so there is more room then it looks. We went to the counter checked up the menu and ordered. I was our first time so we had to try a little bit of everything of course. We went with the Hill Country Trinity which comes with Brisket, Pork Ribs, Sausage , and 3 sides, a Rosebud, and a Crispy Quesa Taco with Brisket since unfortunately they were out of Birria. For the Hill Country Trinity we went with our Brisket moist, Cheddar Jalapeno Sausage, and for our side, Mac & Cheese, Elote Pasta Salad, and the Homemade Cornbread which was a special side that day. All I have to say is all the meat was fantastic. Best BBQ I have had in Jacksonville in a very long time. The Pork Ribs were tender with amazing seasoning and bark. The meat just feel off the bone. The Brisket was flavorful, fatty and melted in my mouth just the way of like it. You also get a whole sausage which had plenty of cheese in it. I also love both the Crispy Quesa Taco and the Rosebud. I was not expecting them to be as good as they were. I could have eaten another 2 or 3 of each. You for sure had to make sure to added both of them on to your meal with you come. The Rosebud was creamy and juicy but if you just bite into it you will get messy. The Crispy Quesa Taco also is really taken to the next level by the Salsa Verde in it. Super excited about this new BBQ spot in Mandarin -- my husband and I had been hearing good things and finally had a chance to check it out. We ordered takeout and were really happy with what we got! The portions were pretty large so it made it worth the price -- we had so many leftovers that it ended up being 4 servings of food for us. I had the pulled pork, brisket taco, charro beans & green beans. Hubby got brisket, pulled pork, fries and charro beans. I'm particular having had lots of brisket meat sweats in Texas. This is one of the only places in Jax that comes close. If y'all feel cramped inside, as some have stated in reviews, take your meat to a beautiful park. Also, the side haven't missed yet! Those beans and the elote pasta salad are a must. Thanks to Tay on TikTok and a mention at Mayo, we tried out Yellow Rose BBQ a.k.a. The Yellow Rose of Mandarin. The Rose is on San Jose in a shopping center that is next to a shopping center, both of which seem to have some good tenants that keep the parking lots busy. I don't know how many of the these tenants have handwritten signs outside and inside their business, but the Yellow Rose does. These signs add to the charm of the place along with the Austin decor and the loaf of bread slice dispenser (in case you need to do some soppin'). We ordered the brisket (lean) with cole slaw and sautéed cabbage, the Rosebud (I'll tell you later), and a brisket sandwich that was quickly changed to a brisket bacon ranch quesadilla with potato salad. All of the above were finer than frog's hair and generous portions. Specifically, the Rosebud is a stuffed jalapeno that is bigger than Dallas! Sarah took our order. She was efficient and patient with us newcomers. We were also checked on by a gentleman who was friendly and evidently cute enough for my wife to text her sister that she should be in the mood for barbecue for supper. First, I have to commend the young lady who was at the front who took our order. I truly wished I got her name or that she was wearing a name tag because I would love to recognize her for the outstanding customer centered service she delivered. With a pleasant smile, she answered all of our questions and made recommendations which were spot on! She truly represents yellow rose barbecue in an excellent fashion. Now to the food, where do I begin? My friend had the brisket taco which she said was great! I thought it was going to be the crunchy shell, but it turned out. It was not and I so wished I had gotten that cause it looked phenomenal! I had the lean brisket with the macaroni street corn and macaroni salad on the side. Both of the macaroni side dishes were outstanding and they give you large portions, which I really appreciated. The brisket had excellent flavor (the mustard sauce was great, but the original was phenomenal.). The only suggestion I can make here is be a little more generous with the brisket as they gave you a very, very small amount for the money. I love the orange thing they have going on in the tiles and in the bathrooms having the soap dispenser and towel dispenser in orange matching the trim. Ordered the Hill County Trinity. Brisket, ribs & sausage with 3 sides, for which I chose mac & cheese, charro beans and coleslaw. I have found my new favorite bbq in town. The brisket and ribs were so tender and the rubs they use have great flavor without being overpowering. The mac & cheese is not my style but still tasted good. I just had to think of it as creamy noodles. The charro beans were very flavorful and I loved the cole slaw. It is not sweet. Parking here is not always a fun time but that is not their fault. Saw this restaurant on TikTok and the food looked good. Decided to treat my niece and myself to tacos. I ordered 4 birria tacos, 5 BBQ wings, and two orders of fries. It took about 15 minutes before we got our food. It was not brought out all at the same time. We got the tacos first and waited another 5-7 minutes before we got the wings and fries. The tacos were greasy and had a lot of fat. The wings were salty. We did like the fries. When we arrived there were a few people before us and it seemed like after we ordered they got really busy. I think they needed more people to help out with orders and keeping the condiments stand filled. We were greeted when we arrived and handed a menu to look over while waiting to order. Everything was dry. From the "wet" brisket to the pulled pork, and even the bun it was served on was crumbling as if it were stale. We went for lunch around 1:30 and they were already out of a few sides, which was unfortunate as the elote pasta salad wasn't the best either. The tables were all pretty dirty too even though the restaurant wasn't too crowded (maybe post Saturday lunch rush?) Excellent moist brisket. Texas style. The pitmaster is from the world famous Luis Mueller BBQ in Taylor, TX. I was blown away by the sausage. It's amazing. Reminds me of Black's in Lockhart.
