To be honest, I'm sad to leave a review with this content. However, today we celebrated my wife's birthday with family. It was a horrible experience. We left sad because we were excited about this restaurant. It was beyond horrible. The waiter was extremely "snappy," short, and seemed extremely annoyed by us from the beginning. We assumed it was just a busy night. We didn't want him to ruin the celebratory atmosphere of the birthday dinner, so we tried to act as though everything was normal. But it got worst. After we placed our order, our food came out in 20 min intervals one dish at a time. People in the party were finished but others were still waiting for their dish. We asked the owner about the status of two missing dishes. The owner gave us an ugly look and told us to ask our waiter. We tried to laugh it off because of how rude he was and how ridiculous it was, because we had not seen our waiter in 30-40 minutes. We were all low on waters and drinks. We didn't ask for refills because we didn't want to bother him. Finally when the owner brought us our dishes. He told us to clear the middle of the table - but in a very assertive and in a hurry tone - and he even forcefully tapped/ lightly pushed the hands of my cousins to have them move her hands. All this took place in a matter of seconds, he didn't give anyone adequate time to actually clear the dishes. We assumed the dishes were hot, however after the owner dropped the dishes in the table - the plates were room temperature and even cold. We were confused by the rush. After another 45 minutes, no waiter nor owner came to our table. I had to get up and ask for a check. I made sure to ask in a gentle manner because I didn't want to annoy him further. The owner rolled his eyes and told me I needed to get with waiter. He told me to go back to the table and wait for the waiter. I looked and couldn't find the waiter. At this time we were just beyond confused why he hated us so much? We felt embarrassed that he hated us that much. At the very end, we tried doing a group selfie for the party because we didn't want to remotely even bother the waiter. As we all got together to take a picture - the waiter said "excuse me" in the most sassy way possible and walked thru the group to break up the group picture. We all just looked at each other and left because we had enough. read more

Saw the other great reviews about this place and had to see what it was about! The weather was amazing, so we sat outside and it was really lovely to watch the sunset with the tower in the background. There is a decent amount of seating outside, a communal table and stand alone tables. The favorites for us were the poke, baked goat cheese, and lamb. I love tapas as a concept, it's great to try a little of everything and be satisfied and not extremely full and needing to be carried out on a stretcher! That being said, the tapas portions were still a pretty good size. I forget the name of the one Tempranillo they have on the menu, but it was awesome and I highly recommend it for a true experience Service was casual but good, and our server even offered to take several photos of us! I tried Hola! by myself on 8/21. It was early, not even 5 pm. The restaurant was pretty empty since it was so early. I was greeted and seated immediately. The waiter had recommendations and I followed most of them. I had the charred asparagus and it was perfect. Firm and tasty with exactly correct amount of charring and aioli. I also had the ceviche on the waiter's suggestion. It may have been the best ceviche I've ever had. Extremely fresh. TASTY! They included 2 calamari rings with the ceviche and THEY were also among the best I've had. Light, crispy and the breading did not overpower the calamari. Next time, I'll order this on its own. Finally, I had the beef and chorizo meatballs with a tomato-based sauce. These were very good but the weakest of everything I tried. I'd have them again but I can't wait to try the ceviche again. 3 items of tapas were a good portion for 1 medium eater. I took leftovers home. In town for a long weekend, we wanted to check out something different and flipped a coin to choose between Hola and another restaurant. Thankfully, we landed on Hola. We didn't have reservations and were told that the only seats were at the bar which turned out to be preferable because we were able to watch the chef in action. We started off with the baked cheese and the pork belly. Both were incredible, with the pork belly easily being the best I've ever had. We then ordered a little more, the meatballs and gyoza. The gyoza wasn't anything to write home about but the meatballs were flavorful and a very good portion. We ended with the calamari with black rice. Fantastic. The price was very reasonable (under $50) for two people, the food was awesome and we have every intention of going back next time we're in town. read more

So we picked this place as we're looking for tapas for a birthday party for 76yr old mom who wanted to try a bunch of foods. Menu looked good and location was convenient. From the outside of the building, didn't look like much different than a usual Mexican restaurant. Inside decor was cool and groovy with custom paintings and a wall of wine box lids. Very chic! Then came the food and drinks and oh my so delightful. First, splurge and get the pitcher of sangria. For 5 people everyone had 2-3 glasses each and was so worth the price. Tasty and delicious. As we get there, host tells us the price is 85$/person, which is expensive, but tolerable. My daughter and I spent two days driving from Milwaukee to San Antonio and were starving. We saw this cute little place and stopped in. So glad we did! First off, Antonio was amazing. He was kind and courteous and gave my daughter some tips as he's a long-time resident of San Antonio and she's just moved here. We shared the flatbread (simply amazing) and the strip loin entree (also fantastic). It was the perfect serving for us. We also shared a carafe of Sangria and the Merengue for desert. This a a cute little tapas and wine place in Southtown that we happened upon after a dinner out. We stopped in to see what it was about for a drink. Although we were full, we couldn't help but try a few small bites because the aromas and the activity at the grill drew us in. We tried a few small desserts that were divine. I also tried an oyster which was so good! They said their octopus is a specialty which makes sense since the bar has an octopus carved into it. You escape to Spain for a little while. The prices on the tapas are great and I highly recommend trying the baked goat cheese, mixed civiche, and the empanadas.
