While I wanted to just say "what are you waiting for" I fugured Id leave a little more. If you are looking for reasonably priced food with amazing quality look no further. They specialize in tapas, smaller plates and i would say 2-3 choices per person is the right amount My order was the baked cheese, escargot, and lamb. Any order that doesn't include the baked cheese is just wrong. In addition, all the employees are super nice and work really hard If Michelin inspectors ever make it to San Antonio they need to check this place out. PS: What are you waiting for. read more

We stumbled acre Hola! After a meal downtown. This is such a neat place that certainly welcomes you to the Southtown area of San Antonio. It is warm inside at the bar but other sections are cool and the outdoor patio will definitely be a great place to spend evenings once the heat leaves us! I will say that the proximity of this location will be a great vantage point for fireworks at the Hemisfair. read more

This is such a cool little spot. It's walking distance to Hemisfair and has great views of the tower. It's a quaint restaurant with a few tables. We ordered a bunch of tapas and everything was absolutely amazing. The service was so friendly (they greeted us like old friends) but was a little slow so I'll keep that in mind when I go back. read more

Great evening of tapas and sangria. Nice tapas menu, wonderful prices. Their A/C leaves a bit to be desired so will definitely time my visits when it is cooler outside. It's an old building and the flimsy HVAC just doesn't work. Sangria was delightful, but slightly overpriced for the quality of the wine used. That being said, the tapas prices were great so that made up for the sangria. Service started out great but trailed off as the restaurant got busier. Took awhile to get our check. read more

Saw the other great reviews about this place and had to see what it was about! The weather was amazing, so we sat outside and it was really lovely to watch the sunset with the tower in the background. There is a decent amount of seating outside, a communal table and stand alone tables. The favorites for us were the poke, baked goat cheese, and lamb. I love tapas as a concept, it's great to try a little of everything and be satisfied and not extremely full and needing to be carried out on a stretcher! That being said, the tapas portions were still a pretty good size. I forget the name of the one Tempranillo they have on the menu, but it was awesome and I highly recommend it for a true experience Service was casual but good, and our server even offered to take several photos of us! All in all, loved the experience dining here and can't wait to come back. read more

My boyfriend surprised me with dinner at Hola for our first anniversary. We absolutely loved everything from the ambiance of the eclectic chairs, plates, and art, and most of all the food! We love Tapas and this is our favorite in San Antonio! read more

Had dinner last night at Hola and really enjoyed it. The wine butter escargot was cooked perfectly and full of garlic. The charred cauliflower with parmesan mayo was the best I ever had. The Moroccan lamb stew had tender, lean lamb meat and the flavors of cumin, cinnamon, coriander were perfectly balanced. We sat at the bar and it was a little warm, but worth the show watching the Chef prepare the dishes. Can't wait to return. read more

We loved the cauliflower and asparagus tapas, as well as the squid over black rice. The locally brewed beer on tap made a good thing even better! read more

5 stars! I don't know how this place isn't being talked about more in SA. The food is beyond amazing, I can't even describe the flavors. Literally everything our group ordered from the scallops, escargots, baked cheese, mushrooms, tuna, potatoes, paella etc was exquisite. The wine is great and the service was super attentive. I can't say enough great things about this restaurant. Keep it up hola! read more

So we picked this place as we're looking for tapas for a birthday party for 76yr old mom who wanted to try a bunch of foods. Menu looked good and location was convenient. From the outside of the building, didn't look like much different than a usual Mexican restaurant. Inside decor was cool and groovy with custom paintings and a wall of wine box lids. Very chic! Then came the food and drinks and oh my so delightful. First, splurge and get the pitcher of sangria. For 5 people everyone had 2-3 glasses each and was so worth the price. Tasty and delicious. We ordered a bunch of plates and nothing was bad, octopus A+, escargot fantastic, beet and spinach hummus excellent, and way too many fabulous dishes to list. Highly recommend this place. The service and food were both outstanding. Don't be fooled thinking you will get average Mexican food, but will rejoice in Dishes with flair and incredible taste. read more

Keep in mind it's a tapas restaurant, so small portions on all the plates. We had them all, calamari, cheese board, papas, cauliflower, pork, mushrooms and more! But my favorite was the calamari in a bed of black rice and my least favorite was the pork in a bed of couscous. I found the entrees a little extra oily the place it's small but comfortable. Management was not welcoming even though we had an confirm reservation, he could not find in his system. Service was good and knowledge. A nice list of wines and draft sangrias were available. Overall it worth visiting for a glass of wine and an appetizer. read more

Small restaurant, but in a cozy way. I've been here twice and have gotten polite, responsive service without someone hovering over us. Good variety of tapas. Especially liked the pinchos de carne and mussels. Also enjoyed the sangria. Hopefully will get to try the paella next time. read more

You can improve you attitude. My husband and I had a reservation for our anniversary dinner and we got there a few minutes early. The host was annoyed and waved his hand at three tiny tables in the room by the kitchen and told us to sit at one of those tables. Then, when I asked if we could sit outside he got in my face to tell me they weren't seating anyone outside. His whole attitude was a total turn off so we left. read more

To be honest, I'm sad to leave a review with this content. However, today we celebrated my wife's birthday with family. It was a horrible experience. We left sad because we were excited about this restaurant. It was beyond horrible. The waiter was extremely "snappy," short, and seemed extremely annoyed by us from the beginning. We assumed it was just a busy night. We didn't want him to ruin the celebratory atmosphere of the birthday dinner, so we tried to act as though everything was normal. But it got worst. After we placed our order, our food came out in 20 min intervals one dish at a time. People in the party were finished but others were still waiting for their dish. We asked the owner about the status of two missing dishes. The owner gave us an ugly look and told us to ask our waiter. We tried to laugh it off because of how rude he was and how ridiculous it was, because we had not seen our waiter in 30-40 minutes. We were all low on waters and drinks. We didn't ask for refills because we didn't want to bother him. Finally when the owner brought us our dishes. He told us to clear the middle of the table - but in a very assertive and in a hurry tone - and he even forcefully tapped/ lightly pushed the hands of my cousins to have them move her hands. All this took place in a matter of seconds, he didn't give anyone adequate time to actually clear the dishes. We assumed the dishes were hot, however after the owner dropped the dishes in the table - the plates were room temperature and even cold. We were confused by the rush. After another 45 minutes, no waiter nor owner came to our table. I had to get up and ask for a check. I made sure to ask in a gentle manner because I didn't want to annoy him further. The owner rolled his eyes and told me I needed to get with waiter. He told me to go back to the table and wait for the waiter. I looked and couldn't find the waiter. At this time we were just beyond confused why he hated us so much? We felt embarrassed that he hated us that much. At the very end, we tried doing a group selfie for the party because we didn't want to remotely even bother the waiter. As we all got together to take a picture - the waiter said "excuse me" in the most sassy way possible and walked thru the group to break up the group picture. We all just looked at each other and left because we had enough. read more

I tried Hola! by myself on 8/21. It was early, not even 5 pm. The restaurant was pretty empty since it was so early. I was greeted and seated immediately. The waiter had recommendations and I followed most of them. I had the charred asparagus and it was perfect. Firm and tasty with exactly correct amount of charring and aioli. I also had the ceviche on the waiter's suggestion. It may have been the best ceviche I've ever had. Extremely fresh. TASTY! They included 2 calamari rings with the ceviche and THEY were also among the best I've had. Light, crispy and the breading did not overpower the calamari. Next time, I'll order this on its own. Finally, I had the beef and chorizo meatballs with a tomato-based sauce. These were very good but the weakest of everything I tried. I'd have them again but I can't wait to try the ceviche again. 3 items of tapas were a good portion for 1 medium eater. I took leftovers home. All-in-all, I'm very glad I finally tried them, and next time my wife will go, too! Oh yeah, Pinthouse Electric Jellyfish on tap! read more

In town for a long weekend, we wanted to check out something different and flipped a coin to choose between Hola and another restaurant. Thankfully, we landed on Hola. We didn't have reservations and were told that the only seats were at the bar which turned out to be preferable because we were able to watch the chef in action. We started off with the baked cheese and the pork belly. Both were incredible, with the pork belly easily being the best I've ever had. We then ordered a little more, the meatballs and gyoza. The gyoza wasn't anything to write home about but the meatballs were flavorful and a very good portion. We ended with the calamari with black rice. Fantastic. The price was very reasonable (under $50) for two people, the food was awesome and we have every intention of going back next time we're in town. read more

This a a cute little tapas and wine place in Southtown that we happened upon after a dinner out. We stopped in to see what it was about for a drink. Although we were full, we couldn't help but try a few small bites because the aromas and the activity at the grill drew us in. We tried a few small desserts that were divine. I also tried an oyster which was so good! They said their octopus is a specialty which makes sense since the bar has an octopus carved into it. The cooks are right there in the open kitchen making the process look like a choreographed art. The drinks were good as well.. I will definitely be back when I have an appetite to try more from the extensive menu. read more

My daughter and I spent two days driving from Milwaukee to San Antonio and were starving. We saw this cute little place and stopped in. So glad we did! First off, Antonio was amazing. He was kind and courteous and gave my daughter some tips as he's a long-time resident of San Antonio and she's just moved here. We shared the flatbread (simply amazing) and the strip loin entree (also fantastic). It was the perfect serving for us. We also shared a carafe of Sangria and the Merengue for desert. Everything was delicious and a decent prize. Will definitely go back when in town again. My daughter said she'll be a regular! Highly recommend! read more

What a fantastic spot I stumbled upon just a few blocks from the Riverwalk! The perfect place (and ambience) to sample some delicious Spanish and World tapas and Latin American delectable dishes! Insane flavors on these plates...wow! Great atmosphere and lots of tasty beers, wines, etc at the bar. Love the decor (azulejos) and the cool, international vibes...great music to set the mood and prep your palate for what's to come out of a very creative kitchen. Thank you to Marcos for the great hospitality, service and conversation. Server was awesome and the food was excellent. Location by the hemisphere park great alao.

I recently dined at Holas and was impressed. The paella was savory with a blend blend of spices and perfectly cooked seafood. It's clear they pay attention to traditional flavors and techniques. That saffron yo! Worth the price of admission Their hummus (magenta colored) was a standout, with a creamy texture that paired nicely with their house-made pita-ish bread crackers. It's a simple dish, but at Holas it's elevated. I also had the tuna tartar, and it was evident that there was a great deal of care put into both the flavor and the presentation of the dish. Think tuna and honey mustardy flavor, so good. Also their house-made sangria. It was refreshing and fruity, an ideal match for getting a light buzz while traipsing around SA I'd say Holas is definitely worth a return visit. Side note: They have the coolest restrooms, go and find out for yourselves. By the time I remembered to take photos it was too late read more

We were headed to the restaurant down the street but it was closed. Good thing, bc Hola was great! Three people shared a bottle of rose, I had a beer and we shared a variety of tapas. It was all out of this world! The steak was delicious, roasted cauliflower, and beet salad were awesome. I was just a little put off by the host as he was kinda persuading us to go elsewhere (we were headed to a RHCP concert so maybe he thought we just wanted to get wasted). But! My friend forgot her credit card and he came running half a block to return it! Thank you!! read more

This was THE worst dining experience I have had in a while. They had a New Year's Eve special buffet, without a specified price on their website. As we get there, host tells us the price is 85$/person, which is expensive, but tolerable. After we sat down, the waiter told us we could go prepare our plates, brought us the wine card, and never came back... we were 6 customers in the restaurant. To our dismay, the food was cold... all of it. Cold mussels, cold steak, cold paella. Had it stopped there, I would'nt have taken the time to write a review. But to add insult to injury, they added a 25% " GRATUITY FEE ", under pretense it was written on the menu, that contained NO PRICE. This whole thing cost 226$ for 2, no wine, cold food, and worst of all, no service. Ah, but there was " complimentary champagne ", if we wanted to come back at midnight... read more

Amazing tapas. Great location and atmosphere. We ordered the baked goat cheese, beef skewers, meatballs, and pork belly along with a carafe of the house sangria and it was incredibly delicious. Great service with good wine choice and (to me) excellent Sangria. The baked cheese and rellenos were excellent. I had the Octopus and liked the strong flavor though would have liked to taste more of the char. My only reservation was the beet salad which was over dressed. Should be Adios. Single-handedly the worst food and drinks we have experienced anywhere. Cloudy sangria that had obviously been stewing in the fruit for a long time, followed with octopus that could've subbed in for a basketball at a Spurs game. The "highly recommended" baked cheese was an unremarkable blob covered in sugar and served with 3 tiny slices of stale (not toasted, stale) baguette. We felt bad for the owners and staff here, the location and concept has so much potential but the food is just worse than bad. As locals supporting local we paid for everything (that we took one literal bite of) and left. Really hope something significant can happen to help them rethink their kitchen and bar. read more

This place is honestly great! I came in around 8:00pm and we were sat close to the bar. The atmosphere was cultural and lively, I loved the interior decor and music playing. You escape to Spain for a little while. The prices on the tapas are great and I highly recommend trying the baked goat cheese, mixed civiche, and the empanadas. I was not sure what wine to try and was offered samples which I appreciated. The waitress was very sweet and attentive. I am so excited to watch this place grow and know it has great potential. Cute place. Food was awesome and we enjoyed it all. However the place was so hot, like sweating hot. No attempt to control the blowing hot air. And the waitress left after the food was served.
