What a gem! A romantic restaurant in a classy hotel overlooking the Riverwalk... The professionalism of the staff was extraordinary, and the hostess was extremely welcoming. Their homemade bread is just to die for! I really enjoyed dining at a place that is very quiet, well lit and beautifully decorated. We tried the steak bites as an appetizer and the burger as our main course and both were not only flavorful, but also just out of this world delicious! Our server was Antonio, a gentleman from Spain, who took care of us very well. We will definitely be back and I hope to have him as our server as he was amazing and so kind!

Before my flight home my friend & I stopped in for a light breakfast. Located inside the Hotel Valencia, Dorrego's is a stylish eatery that serves Argentinian inspired food. Much like the hotel, the décor is beautiful and the patio dining provides a charming view of the River Walk, especially at night. There was a bit of a wait for a table, but the lovely bartender Michelle invited us to have a seat at the bar. We each had a glass of Veuve Clicquot (because I'm bougie like that) and a side of fresh fruit. It was the perfect breakfast. All that was missing was the caviar. Next time I return I would like to have a meal in the picturesque dining room.

Had a great experience! This was my first time at this restaurant because downtown parking gets intimidating to me but this was easy. It's in a great part of downtown with lots of parking garages but the hotel also valets if you spend over $60. The staff was so attentive and allowed us time to figure out the menu. And our food was great. Everything came out hot and tasted fresh. My chicken sandwich was juicy and my fries were crispy on the outside but pillowy on the inside. My favorite part was the dessert. It was indulgent but also not a heavy dessert. This is a must visit and I can't wait to be back when Christmas decorations are up!

Stopped in Sunday evening for happy hour: the restaurant wasn't open and no happy hour, but the bar had a smaller food menu so we decided to check it out. Really glad that we did. The restaurant and bar are inside a beautiful hotel that doesn't have a bar seat in the house. Outdoor seating above the river walk as well. We all had something to eat and a cocktail or two. Food was delicious and the cocktails were really good. Tim was the bartender and he took good care of us. I had the grilled chicken sandwich and a couple El Caballero drinks. Enjoyed everything. I'll definitely be going back again to walk around more of the hotel and try something else on the menu.

We headed downtown again today to have lunch at Dorrego's at Hotel Valencia by the Riverwalk. I signed up for free membership to be a Gold Member with Flavors of Texas (www.theflavorsoftexas.com). I saw the deal with Dorrego's for the complimentary bottle of wine and appetizer. Dad had Lemonade and Hubby and I had the Argentinian Cabernet Sauvignon. We shared the Ensalada de la Casa (house salad). Dad and I shared the Paella a la Marinera. Hubby had the Dorrego's Burger. We all shared the dessert, Chocolate Cremoso. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and ambiance and will have another meal with the leftovers. The valet parking is free since our food bill was over $40. It is like gold in downtown.

Located in valencia hotel sort of on the second floor of the staircase, they advertised a 16.95 paella deal from 11am-4pm so you know I had to try it. The place setting and atmosphere are classy yet open. The staff is friendly and open to any requests especially since we seemed to go at a quiet time. The paella is featured in the front where they have a chef and a self service station, and yes you can get everything so it does make a banging deal. The paella was more than enough to feed 2 people, I appreciate the chefs patience and generosity, however, I wouldn't really call this good paella. The seafood kinda missed the mark, but the sausage had great flavor. The vegetables were nice and fresh. But as someone who's rice is their staple food, that rice was raw and had no saffron flavor. The broth was also overly salty and my favorite part- the crust was amiss. So while in hopes of a great deal, I would sadly not recommend it, but I appreciate the staff nonetheless. We also got the choripan, the fries are on the thicker dryer side. The choripan had a great flavor profile, though while I expected a green chimchurri turned out to be a slightly spiced red pepper vinegered sauce. As the bun is a basic hot dog potato bun, it did get quite soggy so I would recommend a different bun, but overall the sausage paired well with the sauce. Overall, good atmosphere for catch ups and casual. Stick with more Argentinian food.

The service was phenomenal, always making sure my friends and I were liking the food, whether it was appetizers, main course, or even the dessert.

We can't for Easter brunch and they had a pretty standard water brunch buffet setup. I think compared to other Easter brunches the cost was comparable. There was a carving station, made to order omelets & waffles, salads, charcuterie, and entrees. Everything was good but nothing was a huge stand out. To me the best items were the red velvet waffles, mashed potatoes, and almond cake. I liked that the champagne and mimosas were included in the cost but I wish our server was a bit more attentive. Overall the staff was nice and the hotel is gorgeous. At check in for the restaurant there are glass oranges signed by famous people which is pretty cool. I really want to give this place a shot during normal dining services. It also looked like they had a great outdoor area overlooking the Riverwalk.

My medium Strip Steak with asparagus was good with the IPA draft beers. Enjoyed the Caesar Salad with anchovy. Service was good, especially when my wife's Lamb Shank was cold. Kitchen mistake on my wife's birthday weekend. Lamb plate was tasty, but cold.

Went here unexpectedly and was surprised on the drinks and menu!!! Everything was so delicious and the restaurant in the hotel was beautiful. There was a patio outside where you can see the riverwalk and lights. The service was excellent and everything came out fresh and tasty.

Dorrego's is one of those restaurants that seems like a good idea, until it isn't. I was craving a visit since I saw their Culinaria Restaurant Week menu. So when a friend invited me to meet there, I gladly agreed. Big mistake. I'll start by saying that the place was gorgeous. Beautifully decorated with that cozy Christmas feel. It made me want to lounge in their lobby. At our arrival, we were served a complementary glass of wine, which seemed an elegant touch, so I was ready to be impressed. And then I opened their menu. They had about five entrees, all at over $20 dollars each. I was expecting this, as Dorrego's is part of the Valencia hotel, and hotel restaurants are pricey, y'all! But five entrees and all over $20...hmm, not sure that's worth a visit. Now, let's talk portions, shall we?! I took the plunge and ordered a chicken breast with potatoes and vegetables at $22 dollars, very high for just chicken. But not only was this mega expensive, the breast came with a bit of the wing bone and wasn't a complete chicken breast. It was a piece of skin with, maybe four bites of meat. I kid you not! I'm not even sure this was supposed to be served. It looked so meager, that as the waitress picked up the plate, she took a look at it and knew something was off. When asked how my meal was, I told her about the portion. Which brings me to the positive part of Dorrego's, the service, or more specifically, our server. Our waitress was amazing. Friendly, helpful, and efficient. When I told her about my meal, she instantly told me she would mention it to the kitchen. She came back with an offer of a 25% discount. Personally, I think that given the meal I was served, it should have been free. But I was appreciative of her initiative to solve it. Kudos to Dorrego's service. As for the rest, forget it! Unless they get a clue and serve better portions, have a larger menu selection and some food items below $20 dollars, this place is off my return list. Not worth a second, or even first visit.

The best Argentinian food I've had outside Argentina! Everything was on point. The chimichurri was amazing. Choripan brought back childhood memories of late nights around the grill with the neighbors. Empanadas were just like my mom's. If you want legit authentic Argentinian food, I don't think you can do better than Dorrego's.

Visited during Restaurant Week Sept 2021. Long story short this is the perfect place for a date although there may be minor hiccups with the food. To start, they validate Valet parking which eliminates concerns of parking/walking downtown. Located in the Valencia Hotel the ambiance is lovely with dim lights and water fountain in the entrance. We waited about five minutes to be met at host stand for our reservation. However, host/server Antonio quickly put my friend and I at ease. I was there with my girlfriend but thought it would make a great date due to the rustic decor serving up Hotel Emma type vibes. Antonio brought a free sample of Malbec which was a nice touch along with bread and butte while we perused the menu. I ordered the $45 Restaurant Week 3 course option described as a grilled cheese appetizer with pesto and sundries tomato and crostini bread. I was actually a cheese flambé that was an exciting start to the meal and very good. Antonio brought a selection of steak knives to choose from for my steak which was different but another special little touch. My medium rare NY strip steak was cooked perfectly although not as tender as expected. But flavor was fantastic. The chocolate pot de cream was a nice ending. My friend had the salmon with roasted potatoes and asparagus and she raved about her meal. I would definitely return for the ambiance and experience. They seemed short staffed but Antonio provided excellent service. He focused on making sure we were happy and treated us like he owned the place (maybe he did). See photos and try for yourself.

Absolutely delicious!…read more I've been to EDA once before and have been craving their empanadas ever since! Much like last time, there seemed to be only one person running the shop, the place was sparkling clean (including the restrooms), and there was ample seating in the dining area. The music was a little too loud, especially so in the bathroom, but otherwise the café was so nice. The menu is chock-full of delicious sounding dishes and boba drinks, but I opted for two of their ready to go empanadas. I had the Beef & Cheese, and the Chicken Salteña Empanadas. Both were super yummy and neither the beef nor chicken was dry inside. The fillings were savory, the Beef & Cheese amazingly creamy, and the Chicken Salteña a good blend of spices. The raisins in the Salteña did throw me off for a moment as I didn't think they worked all too well with the rest of the texture of the filling, but it didn't detract too much from the empanada. The dipping sauce that they came with was so tasty and flavorful as well! I was only able to finish half of each empanada because they were so big, but the server was kind enough to give me extra sauce with my to-go box. It added another layer of tastiness to the experience! EDA is a little out of the way for me so I'm not able to go as much as I'd like, but I know I'll be stopping in to snag an empanada or a boba tea when I'm in the area. I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try!

Upon arriving, we were welcomed by the Chef Waldito with open arms, amazing energy and you can tell he absolutely LOVES what he does! The restaurant is small but cozy with accolades all over the wall. He explained the menu, the buffet and said he would make anything to order but recommended the buffet. How could you not have a smile on your face when someone talks straight from the heart about making food for his customers?!? We opted for the buffet which was all you can eat and his homemade tea for only $12!! He says he only makes enough money to cover the rent because feeding people was his love language. This touched us! You can get either one or both soups. He served a seafood soup and a chicken noodle soup. The soups was very flavorful and warm. He also serves bread with it as well. The chicken noodle soup was on point! It was flavorful, the noodles were cooked well and wasnt mushy. He will serve you the buffet. It had roasted chicken, then a chicken stew with Caribbean vegetables (plantains, yucca, etc), yucca, black or red beans and either white or rice with gandules. Being that my husband is from the islands, we know flavor! Unfortunately, the beans and the stew had little to no flavor, not even salt. Additionally, the beans were burnt. The arroz con gandules was odd. It lacked flavor and I'm not sure how you can get mushy but underdone rice. The stew tasted like it was just watered down. He graciously made fresh fried Maduros which were great and fried pork as well. The tea that came with it was very good! I'd definitely order a pitcher of it! It had a lot of fruit and floral notes for a tea! Unfortunately, the food missed the mark for us. We couldn't even finish it, let alone even eat half. We were so disappointed because you can tell he absolutely loves and lives off of his love for cooking. I don't know if my husband and I were off on our taste buds that day. I gave this a three star because Chef Waldito was such a pleasure to be around. He made it worth while and I don't want his restaurant to fail. If it were solely on the food, I truly hate to say it but I would have given it a one star. If there's a next time, we might just order off the menu! We do wish him luck and if he or someone that knows him reads this, we hope it will be more helpful than hurtful.

But at my age anytime you are over ground is the best occasion. I have heard it is real fancy. And it is. Do not come in Crocs and sweatpants. This is not that restaurant. It is that restaurant where you should make reservations. It is also a place that emphasizes presentation and service. We came right when it opened and we informed the hostess of our reservations. We were seated in the bar area. Once inside I was struck by its ambience. It is sleek, dark and dare say "sexy." Our server, who was extremely attentive came to our table and took our drink orders. My partner ordered an Old Fashioned and me, a Lagunitas IPA. Whilst waiting for our drinks I looked over the room. One thing I noticed was a barrier that separated the bar area and the dining room. The Social Hour is meant, to socialize. I saw couples leaning into each other. Another group were drinking martinis with a seafood tower, almost touching the ceiling. Conversations were had. Romantic glances were exchanged. It isn't a casual place like Bubba's 33 nor Texas Roadhouse. It feels like a place best suited for a date night or an anniversary. I'm wondering how the dining room area is? The Social Hour does offer some drink and small bites specials. We ordered the kabob with pineapple, brussel sprouts, and sliders. They were all pretty great. It reminded me of the same experience as in partaking in tapas. I would remiss if I didn't relay our service here, it was excellent. Our server, Holiday(I hope I spelled it right.) treated us like we were the only patrons there. I've gone to upscale restaurants where staff looks at you up and down. Or they try to size you up. This is not that place. Which was so refreshing. If this place went above and beyond my expectations why didn't I give it four stars? In my opinion I think that a place that creates an upscale experience needs to have a few beers on tap. Even places like Wing Daddy's or Chili's offers a few beers on tap. Secondly, the bar area seating feels a bit tight. I wonder when the dinner crowd arrives would you be in the lap, of someone else's conversation? I still highly recommend this place. The Social Hour area is perfect for a date or an anniversary. The service and food were both excellent. And I've never been to a place where you are given warm hand towels. It reminded me of that scene with Adam Sandler in "The Wedding Singer" minus Billy Idol.
