I've been wanting to check this place out and finally did. To me, the food is okay. There is a decent selection but there's not much dishes that I actually eat. Nothing really stood out for me. I did like the teppanyaki grill and think the chef did a really good job with the flavor. They do have a great selection of desserts including a chocolate fondue. For the price, it's not bad buffet, but probably won't be my top choice. There is ample of seating, and this place is pretty crowded. They have their own parking lot too.

Hokkaido Seafood Buffet was one of those places that looked promising from the outside but didn't quite live up to expectations once I stepped in. It's easy enough to find, and at first glance, the restaurant appears clean and organized. But sadly, the experience didn't go much further than that. The buffet layout is pretty standard--plenty of trays filled with different options, from fried seafood to stir-fried dishes and desserts. Unfortunately, the taste just didn't match the variety they offered. Most of the food was underwhelming, either over-seasoned or drowning in heavy sauces that masked the natural flavors. Some items tasted a bit off, while others were just overly salty or sweet. Nothing really stood out as memorable, which is disappointing for a place that calls itself a seafood buffet. The only real highlights of the meal were the sushi rolls and the fresh fruit. The sushi was simple but surprisingly decent, and the fruit station was fresh and nicely presented. Beyond that, though, it was hard to find much to get excited about. To be fair, the restaurant looked clean from the dining area, but I couldn't shake the feeling that not everything behind the scenes was quite as tidy as it appeared. It didn't necessarily feel unsafe, just not entirely confidence-inspiring either. Overall, Hokkaido Seafood Buffet might be fine if you're nearby and just want a quick, sit-down bite without expecting too much. But if you're looking for quality seafood or a memorable dining experience, there are probably better options around. I'd call this one a "try once if you're curious" kind of spot--but not a place I'd rush back to.

These pastries taste stale. Sorry.

My husband and I were feeling hungry but didn't want to drive too far nor did we want to wait too long for our food so we decided to try out this buffet. We had a mixed experience at this buffet. Some of the dishes were genuinely enjoyable, the bbq pork ribs were flavorful, the fried plantains were nicely done, and the fried rice hit the spot! I also really liked the clam chowder, it was creamy and delicious. The cheesecake was delicious too! However not everything lived up to expectations. Just to name a few of the items like the mashed potatoes, lo mein, sesame balls, shumai, some of the pastries and the chocolate fondue didn't taste very fresh, it was more like on the stale side, which was disappointing. The coconut shrimp was aaight, I guess. On a positive note, the staff were very attentive and friendly, which we really appreciated. Our drinks were always filled and the dirty dishes cleared quickly. Overall the food was decent but NOT mind blowing, you know what I mean! It's an okay spot if you're nearby but not something we would go out of our way for. The restaurant is big and somewhat clean. It has a large parking lot and it's next to the 405 freeway.

Visited this AYCE about ten years ago for a birthday celebration and I did not expect the quality of the food and service to change so drastically since then. Celebrated a family member's birthday there today with a party of 20. The staff had sectioned off an area for the guests. Once seated, it took 15-20 minutes for initial drink orders. Stayed for over two hours and only received one refill. Had to stack our plates to make space for new ones. Our stack wasn't cleared until we left. At other buffets, staff usually come around to check and see if plates need to be cleared or drinks refilled. Hardly saw any servers. As for the food, many of the dishes were either mislabeled or not labeled at all. The food itself was bland; it didn't taste bad, but it wasn't anything amazing either. The desserts were good. Only not so good thing was there was one serving utensil for a section of treats. In other words, if there were 4 different mini cakes, there was on utensil. Same with the sliced fruits. The chocolate fondue was probably the best dessert there. Overall, the experience was average.

Clam w/ glass noodles, sautéed shrimp, scallop with mayonnaise, chow mien, fried rice, chicken pot pie, etc.

TLDR - $29.99 for a Monday dinner is industry standard. I'm disappointed to say that I've been to more established locations not too far away that are better. Thoughts: I think the standards should generally be low when going to buffet restaurants like this. Based on what I've experienced, it's normal to expect the flattop where they make Mongolian BBQ, 12-20 options, some rolls, and a dessert area. Hokkaido has all that. The problem is, I feel that their options are a bit repetitive. It's almost like their food is a derivative of each other, where some of the viands look too similar to each other. What makes it harder is the incorrect/lack of labels, which really ramps up the guesswork. The Mongolian BBQ area is rarely manned, so it takes them a long time to complete orders as the cook needs to do a lot of orders when he does have time to be outside of the kitchen. I will say that the Mongolian area has more options than what I'm used to seeing. They have an unmanned carving station that has a small block of beef that's been sitting there for quite some time, and a sausage. Both taste fine but are forgettable. I'd say the best bite is the clam with glass noodles, and the egg tart is pretty good too. I just feel that things could have been better overall. Service: You pay when you go in, and they sit you down. I was told the drinks will be served regardless if it's a soda or water. I've already said my piece regarding their Mongolian BBQ station, which is the most service you'll technically get after you're seated. Ambiance: I went on a Monday night, so the place was operating at 30-40% capacity. The L shaped nature of the buffet spread put the dessert and salad station on the empty end of the restaurant, so getting yourself a watermelon slice may become an eerie experience if you hit that point where there's enough light for them to keep the lights in that area off, but not enough to feel like you're in an open establishment. The area that they choose to fill up first is fine. It felt like a big diner.

$61 for 2 people during dinner time. $23 a person plus a "service charge" and tax, i dont think you should even tip so you can recoup your money. Most of the food was cold youd be lucky if it was warm unless it just came straight out but then its still somehow just warm most times, even a chinese food spot knows to keep the burners on 24/7 to keep the slop hot. Dessert is pretty much nonexistent or some mid basic cookies. Im sure the workers are trying their best but if i could ask for a refund i would ive payed less and got more else were. Save your money and dont go. If you have to go, go during peak time around 6pm when hopefully they bring more stuff out and its not so empty or atleast the burners are on.

If you're over 50 then you can related to this - typical 80s buffet style that has everything (or majority) dishes from America, Chinese, and Sushi. Walked in, I felt I'm going back to the past for sure. The place has been here for decades and I remembered drove by for countless time to get into the freeway (right next to the freeway). The place has it own parking lot (it big), and also big high ceiling inside...but the decor is so dated that you just "wow". Don't get me wrong here, it's clean but it old and feels the air of cheap cooking aromas. There are 4 section from the sides of surrounding walls & window overlong the freeway & side street. There is stirred fried noodle with American foods section, next to it is Chinese section, Crab & crawfish plus seafoods as highlights, next is sushi section...over dozen plus different types of sushi. Then the dessert section - ice cream and fruits. Foods wise: greasy, seasoning is off or tasteless, doesn't look appealing and dried. Don't get me wrong but some dishes are ok, and some are just questionable. I tasted most of them and all I can say is a bite or a piece is good enough (some just 1/2 of a bite) for me. Service is nice and fast plus the prices are reasonable around $33/person w/ tax & tip. Drinks are separately (soda is around $3 and beer is $6). Glad I tried it, and wish that I should try it back in the 80s or 90s would be better than now. Oh well, still good service and an experience for sure.

First timer. Food was ok but they really need to figure out how to keep the food warm. Everything was cold except for the Mongolian station where they cook to order. That was pretty decent but need more variety of vegetables. Price for 2 was $64 which they included their own tip. A little too much for so so food. The restaurant is dated and needs some upkeep.

Decent buffet. This place is so nostalgic, came here many years ago but didn't remember the name of the restaurant. My coworker decided to eat here so now I know. This place is very inexpensive for all you can eat. They have sushi, meat, and some clams. Sushi was okay. My salmon nigiri had a bone in it. Salad section was just lettuce. They have lots of greasy food too. Ice cream machine was the worse where it didn't taste like ice cream. The chocolate ice cream tasted like chocolate flavored shaved ice. No milk at all. Also would like to see toppings for the ice cream like oreo or sprinkles. They also have a guy frying your food or order which is very nice. Interior is huge, glad there's plentiful of tables and seats. Food is very limited in selection. There's staffs that constantly take your dirty dishes and they refill your soda if you order it. This place is fair value for the price you pay versus the quality of the food.

It was okay for a Buffett. The food choices were also okay with some food that looked like it had been there for a while. They make you pay before you enter and then pay again if you add anything afterwards. They hover over you as you finish to make sure you pay again.

What are the prices for 2025? Are there any snow crab legs for lunch on a Monday?

The dinner buffet on Christmas was 24.99 per person. Regarding crab legs they are priced separate per pound $12.99. You can also call the establishment and request the price for dinner or lunch.

Do they still have AYCE crab legs (included in the lunch/dinner buffet price)?

Nope

What are the prices for 2024?

Adult lunch $17.99, dinner $23.99 (July 2024) Seniors and kids get discount

No they do not, but interior is cavernous

Anyone know the lunch price as of 07/27/2022?

Weekday lunch is $13.99 but they add 10% tip plus tax which gets you to $17. If you order drinks then it will be more. Weekend lunch is $20.99 plus.

How do you handle a large group of people for a party if you have to pay before being seated? Party maybe a mix of Senior citizens. Does the price include a drink and are the drinks the same price?

The only drink included is water, i think soda and ice tea is same price and if you have beer that's clearly different charge. And based on past experience you all pay upfront. If there is senior discount they would adjust the total charge.

What are the prices now (3/18/22)? Weekdays Lunch/Dinner Weekends?

I called today and Dinner is 21.99 now and they no longer serve crab.

What's the weekend price for adults, and for kids? Any discounts for students or seniors?

For a party of four, we ordered: SHRIMP LOVER COMBO, LOBSTER ROLL, SIDE OF RICE, BASKET OF SEASONED FRIES, AND MAD DOG XXX SAUCE on the side. Portion-wise, we left comfortably full and only slightly questioning our life choices. The Shrimp Lover Combo can't be modified. We chose Stinkin' Special and Spicy, which came with a plastic glove so you can dig in like a civilized gremlin. The Stinkin' Special was a generous blasts of Old Bay and enough garlic to ward off vampires. The Mad Dog sauce wasn't shock-your-soul spicy, but it definitely lingered. I was still feeling its friendly burn hours later and well into the evening. The LOBSTER ROLLL was tasty but fleeting. It's one of those dishes that makes you realize the meal is almost over right when you're hitting peak satisfaction. A little emotional damage there. We wrapped it all up with deep-fried Oreos and ice cream, which was an instant win. Sweet, cooling relief after all that heat. Tip: Sign up to their text newsletter at the restaurant and enjoy a free basket of fries. BTW, their website is down. :(

Apparently the version here come pre-wrapped, but I didn't mind since I was a first timer. The wrapper functions a lot like a tortilla, but much more delicate. I like the mixture of chicken, wood ear mushrooms and cabbage maybe? Textually it's crunchy and I like that in the soft wrapper. The salt & pepper tofu is sautéed with jalapeños which give it a nice kick. It's not your classic version of the this dish because the tofu is cubed into bite sized pieces and tastes a little more peanut-y than salt and pepper-y, but I didn't mind it. It was great over white rice. L V is perfect for a quick Chinese fix. Lunch specials are just a bonus.

It was clear the outdoor area was understaffed, but that doesn't excuse the level of service we received. On top of that, the food was overpriced for the quality. You're essentially paying for the view, not the dining experience. You're better off at the Cheesecake Factory where the prices match the quality of food and the service is exceedingly better. It was exhausting looking for our waitress. It would've been nice to have a manager making their rounds to voice an opinion to in real time. I also want to mention the hostess with dark brown hair in a low bun, who came across as rude and dismissive for no apparent reason, which set a negative tone from the beginning. My twin sister and I were trying to seat our party together and she just didn't seem accommodating but just dismissive. I had heard great things about a server named Ashley from others in my party, and I really wish we had been seated in her section.
