OMG! I hafta laugh at those leaving dismal reviews. I've been shopping here for decades (since they opened) and never had a bad experience. If you are buying $3.99 in bait and cannot pull out cash or an ATM...that's no reason to leave a one star review loser. Maybe keep a $5. bill in your wallet. LOL Hogan and his family hire exceptionally well and if you leave a bad review because they greeted you within 45 seconds of entering the business...that's no reason to leave a negative review. It's called customer service pinhead! Jeez...this is what ya deal with when providing service to the General Public nowadays. Most people are alright but the General Public can be a general pain in the arse. Look...if you need fishing tackle, whatever it is, Hogan's has it. If you need your gear serviced, Hogan's does it quickly and properly. If you need four dollar bait, Hogan's has it. If you think four dollar bait is too expensive...you have serious issues and need to either make more money or see a shrink...maybe both. This is THE TACKLE SHOP for serious anglers. Need a special hook in a specific size, shape and color? They have it. A particular shape & weight sinker...they have it. It's a fully stocked store with so much stuff new customers struggle to locate what they are needing so the staff welcomes you upon entry and seeks to help you find whatever you are looking for. OMG...how audacious of them! LOL Normal fishermen & women love this place and always find the experience positive. Those who are broke, wearing invisible tiaras and generally despondent are the reason all the collective review score is a hair under 5 star. We all know these people...they are never happy and the harder you try to please them, the more miserable they act. Clearly they are not fishing often enough. Probably spool their coffee-grinders backwards and hold the thing upside-down. You know...the guy who won the jackpot on the cattleboat and stiffed the crew. Hogan's Tackle sets the customer care bar so high...other tackle shop staffers need to charter a plane just to see it. Zero room for improvement! Hogans has a great selection and fair prices! The employees are nice when you walk in and ask you if you need help or recommendations. My only problem with Hogans is that I show up pretty often to grab gear, lures, jigs, etc and for some reason the dudes in the store always follow me around like I'm going to steal stuff?! I swear, I'll be looking at lures and gear and I'll look over and they will be staring at me making sure I'm not stealing anything or something. Sometimes i like to look around before I check out and the guys are following me around?!?!?! Just kinda creeps me out sometimes and I don't want them to think I steal stuff or whatever because I don't! Sometimes I'll check out and they will ask "Is this all you have?" or "Is this everything?", I don't really understand, I've never stolen anything in my entire life and whenever I go here I feel like I'm on probation walking around in there! He feels like a nice family owned tackle shop and they have a good selection of baits too. Went to 4 different shops looking for a very specific rod and finally found what I was looking for at Hogans, they were really busy but I was still greeted with a warm smile and a hello as I walked in, I soon found the rod I was looking for, picked out a reel and asked a gentleman in the back to spool it up for me and I was outta there and headed to the beach after about 15 minutes read more

Great customer service as soon as I walked in the door. Guy greeted me and he pointed me to what I was looking for right away. He then followed up and asked if I needed additional help. Customers were waking in the store non stop, and it was obvious their customer service is a big reason why. I've been to tackle shops where the employees ignore you on purpose, not here. I've been going here even when Jig Stop was open. Hogans has maintained their good service and good prices even though they're the only legit tackle shop in south county. Prices are comparable to online and the customer service is great. I dealt with their customer service twice on a few weeks it's great. My spectra was slipping on my reel. I brought it in and they fixed it no questions asked. I bought a rod a few days ago and noticed the blank was flawed. I brought it in today and they just switched it out. Bought 2 reel and rod combo for my kids from Walmart and didnt know how to rig and work them. Contacted Hogan's and immediately got an invitation to bring the rods over and they'd be happy to help. Took the rods in today and young man at the counter was amazing and patient. The whole store staff were welcoming and although we didnt buy the rods from them, they took the time to explain how it worked and rigged our lines for us. Picked up some items and the suggested the right bait and also pointed us where to go for fishing. Best experience! Came here with some fairly old gear after not having fished locally for several years. Came in here for the first time Friday Afternoon. I'm an experienced freshwater fisherman but very novice Saltwater. We wanted to target Leopard sharks off the beach. The guy who helped us told us exactly what to use and how to get them. We were able to go out that night and land 8 leopard sharks and one very large 62" one. To illustrate the value of good customer service, I purchased a mid-range priced reel and after a couple of weeks it malfunctioned. I had t caught fish with it yet.
