Been shopping here for 10 years and wouldn't take my business anywhere else. Always very kind and helpful with anyone that walks in. Affordable pricing and great quality gear. read more

OMG! I hafta laugh at those leaving dismal reviews. I've been shopping here for decades (since they opened) and never had a bad experience. If you are buying $3.99 in bait and cannot pull out cash or an ATM...that's no reason to leave a one star review loser. Maybe keep a $5. bill in your wallet. LOL Hogan and his family hire exceptionally well and if you leave a bad review because they greeted you within 45 seconds of entering the business...that's no reason to leave a negative review. It's called customer service pinhead! Jeez...this is what ya deal with when providing service to the General Public nowadays. Most people are alright but the General Public can be a general pain in the arse. Look...if you need fishing tackle, whatever it is, Hogan's has it. If you need your gear serviced, Hogan's does it quickly and properly. If you need four dollar bait, Hogan's has it. If you think four dollar bait is too expensive...you have serious issues and need to either make more money or see a shrink...maybe both. This is THE TACKLE SHOP for serious anglers. Need a special hook in a specific size, shape and color? They have it. A particular shape & weight sinker...they have it. It's a fully stocked store with so much stuff new customers struggle to locate what they are needing so the staff welcomes you upon entry and seeks to help you find whatever you are looking for. OMG...how audacious of them! LOL Normal fishermen & women love this place and always find the experience positive. Those who are broke, wearing invisible tiaras and generally despondent are the reason all the collective review score is a hair under 5 star. We all know these people...they are never happy and the harder you try to please them, the more miserable they act. Clearly they are not fishing often enough. Probably spool their coffee-grinders backwards and hold the thing upside-down. You know...the guy who won the jackpot on the cattleboat and stiffed the crew. Hogan's Tackle sets the customer care bar so high...other tackle shop staffers need to charter a plane just to see it. Zero room for improvement! Take it from a dedicated tackleho who has been coming here for decades. The majority of reviewers agree. read more

Hogan's Bait & Tackle - Sporting Goods Near Me - Dana Point, California

This tackle is the best one i been to yet. Every single staff member is helpful and has jokes. They are very knowledgeable about all fishing needs. I just came in for some warbait hooks and walked out with a lot more and a smile. This shop I would say has a little bit of every brand. Also looks like they offer other services like custom rod making. Overall I would highly recommend this place!! read more

Hogan's Tackle is hands down the best tackle shop in all of Southern California. I've captained fishing yachts from Long Beach down to San Diego and no other tackle shop anywhere comes close. Breck and the team are extremely knowledgeable about every type & style of fishing and they have the tackle to match it. Superb service. Superb location. Superb selection. Love this place read more

After visiting a large box competitor and not being able to get any help I decided to head on down to Hogan's to see if they could set me up with some rods for my new reels. There was someone available immediately to hook me up. Great people here and very helpful. I won't go anywhere else now. read more

This tackle shop is amazing! Best collection of the best products on the market. Super helpful and knowledgeable crew of people working here, and Stephanie is extremely helpful! When I'm in need of some fishing gear, there is no second choice for me. read more

Employees are knowledgeable and extremely helpful! Friendly local fishing store! Highly recommend!

Hogans has a great selection and fair prices! The employees are nice when you walk in and ask you if you need help or recommendations. My only problem with Hogans is that I show up pretty often to grab gear, lures, jigs, etc and for some reason the dudes in the store always follow me around like I'm going to steal stuff?! I swear, I'll be looking at lures and gear and I'll look over and they will be staring at me making sure I'm not stealing anything or something. Sometimes i like to look around before I check out and the guys are following me around?!?!?! Just kinda creeps me out sometimes and I don't want them to think I steal stuff or whatever because I don't! Sometimes I'll check out and they will ask "Is this all you have?" or "Is this everything?", I don't really understand, I've never stolen anything in my entire life and whenever I go here I feel like I'm on probation walking around in there! Shoot man, it feels weird to be there when the employees think you're a criminal or something!!!! read more

Great customer service! A smiling employee greeted us at the door and was eager to help. He gave us the skinny on what normally bites from the jetty this time of year, how to catch them, and where to go. I've visited tackle shops up and down the coast of California and the service here was better than any other spot. If you're in Dana Point, especially from out of town, this is the bait shop you need to visit! read more

Great shop, fair prices, helpful staff. My first experience here was very positive. I really enjoyed walking around the shop. He feels like a nice family owned tackle shop and they have a good selection of baits too. I got some sea worms that were reasonably priced and I ended up catching 3 different kinds of fish on 4 casts. It was crazy. I'm not sure what they put on these sea worms hahahah, but they're great. I'll be going back soon! I wish they would stay open later til like 7 too! read more

Great customer service as soon as I walked in the door. Guy greeted me and he pointed me to what I was looking for right away. He then followed up and asked if I needed additional help. Customers were waking in the store non stop, and it was obvious their customer service is a big reason why. I've been to tackle shops where the employees ignore you on purpose, not here. Oh yea, The store is nicely organized also, I picked up an iron jig and some minor tackle and pliers, reasonably priced. I will be back. Thanks Hogans tackle. read more

Went to 4 different shops looking for a very specific rod and finally found what I was looking for at Hogans, they were really busy but I was still greeted with a warm smile and a hello as I walked in, I soon found the rod I was looking for, picked out a reel and asked a gentleman in the back to spool it up for me and I was outta there and headed to the beach after about 15 minutes read more

Great service excellent staff a good knowledge about fishing.. The Hogan's are the best read more

I've been going here even when Jig Stop was open. Hogans has maintained their good service and good prices even though they're the only legit tackle shop in south county. Prices are comparable to online and the customer service is great. I dealt with their customer service twice on a few weeks it's great. My spectra was slipping on my reel. I brought it in and they fixed it no questions asked. I bought a rod a few days ago and noticed the blank was flawed. I brought it in today and they just switched it out. That's the kind of customer service you want and they have been consistently good. read more

The family over at hogans is the best! Always taking care of me and my last minute fishing schedule! Thanks team for always being there for me as our local go to store! Such a quick turn around for reel spools and even rod repairs. The guys dialed a few of my old rods and gave me a nice guys change! Super stoked on the outcome! Once again this my local go to spot! The entire team at Hogan's is professional, efficient and very helpful. One of the best things we like about Hogan's, is somehow they seem to always have in stock (or readily available) rods, reels, gear and all tackle. Bought 2 reel and rod combo for my kids from Walmart and didnt know how to rig and work them. Contacted Hogan's and immediately got an invitation to bring the rods over and they'd be happy to help. Took the rods in today and young man at the counter was amazing and patient. The whole store staff were welcoming and although we didnt buy the rods from them, they took the time to explain how it worked and rigged our lines for us. Picked up some items and the suggested the right bait and also pointed us where to go for fishing. Amazing staff and best customer service ever and very reasonably priced with everything you'll need for your fishing trip. Thank you guys, you guys made my boys day. read more

Great store near Dana point harbor. Friendly and helpful staff great prices speedy service. Highly recommend. Nice selection.

Best experience! Came here with some fairly old gear after not having fished locally for several years. Wanted to get back in the game and see if they could help me assemble some things with a combination of what I had and maybe a modest new purchase. Immediately told to get my gear out of my car and they'll help. No judgement on my gear, just facts and details about what should go with what and how people are fishing these days. Breck and crew spent over a half hour with me and hooked me up for a summer of local action. Got my feet wet again and now I'm hooked on local calico action again! Been back a few times and now they've got a loyal customer. Great service here and just nice people. read more

One word .... awesome. I came in wanting to get line on my reel. The younger gentleman said "can leave it here and get it done in the morning". I was bummed cuz I was only in town for the day. So I almost turned away. But as I was walking around he said "don't worry about it we will put you in front and get you out of here". SWEET ! I was so stoked, customer service like that made me wanna buy more stuff (which I did). When I'm in Orange County this is the spot I'll go to for fishing gear! Thanks guys !!! Busy store not to mention ! read more

Came in here for the first time Friday Afternoon. I'm an experienced freshwater fisherman but very novice Saltwater. We wanted to target Leopard sharks off the beach. The guy who helped us told us exactly what to use and how to get them. We were able to go out that night and land 8 leopard sharks and one very large 62" one. I will be back here for sure, this is my go to bait shop from now on. Thank You guys! Awesome! read more

Hogan's Bait & Tackle - Thanks to Hogan's for getting us the right setup to land this beautiful leopard on our first targeted shark fishing trip! - Sporting Goods Near Me - Dana Point, California

Can't say enough good things about this family-owned bait & tackle shop. Most important is the customer service as well as the quality of the fishing gear. As soon as I walked in the door I was offered help. Initially, I was very green, but over time and several trips to this shop, I have improved my angler education. To illustrate the value of good customer service, I purchased a mid-range priced reel and after a couple of weeks it malfunctioned. I had t caught fish with it yet. So I was bummed, but I brought the reel back and they replaced it for me, including the transfer of my line. This is why I love to support small businesses. So impressed with the customer service as well as the selection of new and used gear. read more
