This store is a consignment store !! They don't tell you that when you buy a board. Needless to say, one of their sales associates recommended the wrong board and now we are stuck with a board that we absolutely cannot use. The store said that they would take it back, but we would have to wait until someone else buys it to get our money back. read more

Came by to buy a surf board a few months back. This is the best surf shop I have ever been to. Was able to get a brand new firewire flat earth for a great price. The staff even lined up my traction pads and put my fins in and were all super friendly. However, my only issue was when I originally came in I showed them a picture of the board I had wanted and the board was in stock. It was another flat earth but used. There was another customer lining up a new flat earth and when I pulled out the used from the shelf he ended up saying he was going to buy it and staff went a long with it since "he was there first". Didn't know there was surfers priority outside of the water. I ended up purchasing the new one he was lining up and he got the used one which was about 100-150 dollars cheaper fins already included. Besides that the board I did purchase is incredible and I couldn't be more happy with it. read more

Super friendly staff and they have a very consultative approach. There's no annoyingly pretentious "bro surfer" vibe that you get in other board/accessory shops around town. And they do the little things to help you out too - align a traction pad on your board, or get a stripped fin screw out and replace it (at no extra charge). I read a couple of the negative reviews about buying used boards. It's unfortunate. They sell on consignment so it's understandable that all sales are final. That said, my advice to all novice board-buyers/surfers is just do some research and shopping around BEFOREHAND to see what's available new or used elsewhere. If you see something that's priced less and can show proof, you can always ask the guys at UsedSurf and maybe they'll contact the board's seller to see if they'll come down in price. read more

Buyer Beware!!! I so wanted to love this place. The guys working were super nice and I thought very helpful. Took my daughter in on her birthday to look for a long board. Not a lot of offerings in our price range but she did find one she liked pretty well. It was well used and has several dings and cracks that need patching before it can go in the water. They gave us the card for a guy they recommend for this and repairs will be $80-$100. Okay, so the sticker price on the board was $350 plus $80-$100 to patch it up brings us to about $450. We buy the board and head over to Jack's to look at wetsuits. We see her board but brand frickn new for $450 :( not on sale or anything. That is the retail price. So I call the business next day and explain that I'm pretty bummed and feel a little taken advantage of. They say I'm out of luck as they are consignment and don't accept returns. That's bad business! I trusted that this place would be pricing boards fairly. Feeling really duped and bummed out! My advice to anyone considering buying a board from this place is "don't!" And if you do, take the time to compare and check retail value on any board you look at. No at all happy! Zero out of 10 experience!! read more

We're new to San Clemente and have been looking to pick up surfing. We were led to Used Surf by our surf instructor, Crooks Surf Essentials. Over a months time, we rented 2 boards from Used Surf four different times. Brandon was super helpful in getting us set up with our first boards. Kenny was helpful at the front desk, and answering any and all surf related questions. The place was hopping all month long. You can tell they do a brisk business during the summer, but we never had a long wait. Every time we'd go in we'd look at the boards. They had different boards there every time. As a used board / consignment shop, their inventory was constantly changing. After a month of renting boards we ended up buying two new boards. They sell NEW and USED boards. When we bought the boards they put on the fins, set us up with a leash, and gave us a tutorial on how to apply wax the right way. SUPER HELPFUL. I highly recommend these guys and look forward to many future transactions with them. read more

Place is LEGIT. Went to scrounge for a set of Futures Fins because I had forgotten to pack them for my trip. Picked up a nice thruster set for $50 in the used fin bin. Aside from that, Chad was very helpful in helping me browse for boards. The staff there seemed stoked just to talk surf and boards without putting on any pressure to buy.
